I originally purchased a 55"Sony 850-D. I just couldn't commit to that model 100% due to the fact that the picture just didn't stand out. The Sony had a dull,Dimmer picture, even after many different picture calibrations. I looked at the Samsung KS-8000 in the store and kicked myself for not sticking with Samsung. I have all Samsung Tvs and luckily enough I was able to return well after return date expiration due to being an elite member. This TV is considered a "Mid level" Television but I believe it to be on the High end level. The picture is extremely glossy and the colors just stand out. Shows like How it's made look live. The TV itself is a nice looking seamless edge look. I can't review the sound as I am using a soundbar.
I can guarantee that if you are on the fence with Samsung or another brand, rest assure that Samsung should be the choice to make. Their ability to design a television with superior picture quality is why they are the leaders in Tvs. The remote is very similar to Fire stick remote and oddly enough it's extremely user friendly. The tv has a separate box that allows you to connect a single cord to the tv and you plug in other Hdmi cords and optical to that box. The box can sit a foot away from the tv. I have a floating shelf behind my tv so everything is hidden, blue ray, cable box, etc. Get this tv,you won't be disappointed at all.

I love my new Samsung UHD TV! The picture quality provides a completely different viewing experience. It's like the cameras are following the actors and I am following behind the cameras, as though I am right there. And this is for non-4K broadcast TV programs that are being upscaled! My only complaint, and it's a small one, is the lag time to go from one activity to another. It takes a couple of seconds for the picture to come on and another couple of seconds for the sound from the AV receiver to come on. There is also a lag going from watching the TV to going to the Smart TV. The Smart TV experience is new to me too. I love watching YouTube videos in 4K and watching Amazon videos in 4K on the large screen. I was concerned about the silver border but it really isn't visible. The silver stand is OK but I would have preferred the typical black stand. I upgraded from a 40" Samsung HD TV to the 55" UHD TV since I moved into a larger home and needed to the larger size TV. I love it!!

Good, But Everything is Relative

Bottom line: pretty good (compared to the very few options that are out there) -- really fantastic in many ways -- but time will tell.
Before I bought this TV, my last TV purchase was a Panasonic 13in CRT, purchased sometime around the dawn of the millennium. It was about 10% of the cost of this Samsung product. I say this only to put my review into perspective. From my viewpoint, the technology is astounding, yet it seems that any television in this price range is more flawed, at least in build quality and/or design (which may be only cosmetic if you're lucky), than my early 2000's relic. At the same time, I guess that's pretty good since that's all one is going to find for the price. Everything overall is fine, but a little "off". And I guess I'm OK with that.
Build: I was hesitant to purchase this product after seeing other reviews, mostly of the non-curved model, complaining about the back panel separating from the rest of the unit. I thought I might have more luck with the curved one, since I've only seen one complaint (though there are far less curved models reviewed). Immediately upon opening the box and glancing at the unit, I noticed the back panel was uneven with the display, flush in some spots, while appearing to already be separating just a little (no gap) in other spots. It is such a minor imperfection that I may have not even noticed had I not been aware of others' issues. So, are they all like this? Do I take it back? Am I being too critical? I just don't know. It could just stay like that, or maybe it will slowly pull away, nanometer by nanometer, over days, months, years... Who knows?
I read in other reviews that heat may have been causing or exacerbating the problem of the panel pulling away around the edges. The good news is that there is no perceivable warmth coming from the back of the unit around the top and side edges, and the area that appears to be slightly separated hasn't changed after 26 days and several hours of usage.
The fit and finish of the bottom of the unit is just odd and doesn't look "right", especially at the corners. Again, it may or may not be normal and it may or may not be a problem. If it's just cosmetic, who cares, right? You can't see it unless you are looking directly underneath the TV. The legs that hold it up are in my opinion an excellent design, both in function and in an aesthetic sense. The are so minimalistic, yet very sturdy.
Display: I chose this model and brand over other options because the reviews of the display are overwhelmingly in favor of this Samsung TV. It is really amazing, especially when compared to the Sony model in a similar price range. The color, contrast, and clarity are exceptional, the blacks are deep black. If I didn't know any better, I'd say there was something wrong with the lighting, however, as it appears cloudy when most or all of the display is black. I guess that's normal, though, for a $1000+ LED television.
I have to admit, I can't tell the difference between watching a Blueray DVD and 4K content, so maybe I would have been just as happy (or more happy) with a much less expensive product. The display is so sharp and clear at times, it's almost distracting. Objectively, that's obviously a good thing. I watched some of Back to the Future on blueray and noticed a LOT of things I never noticed before, from details in the background to the difference in makeup on Christopher Lloyd's neck between his 1985 character and the 1955 representation of his character.
Functionality: It's generally good. Just wonky and/or unnecessarily annoying at times. Sometimes it does exactly what you want (find and open an app or signal), and sometimes it doesn't. And there's advertisements in the menu. Is that normal? I paid over $1000; just seems like I shouldn't have to deal with ads. Some of the apps just plain suck (Facebook) and some have not been reliable, like the SiriusXM app. There is a microphone feature for interfacing as well. Surprise! Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it isn't. Initially, I was really annoyed with the lighted Samsung logo at the bottom of the frame around the display, but I figured out how to turn it off in the settings.
Sound: I've read that TVs like this generally have poor sound quality. I was pleasantly surprised to find it sounds pretty darn good. Nonetheless, I can only assume a soundbar would offer a significant improvement in audio enjoyment.
In summary, I'm happy so far. Maybe it's just me, but I feel one should get a better product for this kind of money. Yet, what else is there? Will it fall apart on my birthday next year? Will one of the bazillion pixels in the center of the display suddenly malfunction and taunt me every time I want to enjoy this thing? Time will tell. Am I an insufferably indecisive, miserly perfectionist? Probably. Would I recommend this TV to a friend? In it's current state, yes.
I want, at least, a quality UHD 60Hz 55" HDR display, and unless I want to pay hundreds, even thousands, more, I suppose this is as good as it gets.

I replaced my old Smart TV (which was not Smart at all with technology so advanced now compared to what it was 5 years ago) with this TV. I kept debating, do I really need another TV when I have a nice TV that works perfectly fine. I'm glad that I did upgrade to this TV. I love the colors of this TV. The Smart App is far better and practical compared to what I had before. The voice option with the TV remote is pretty good. I was able to set up the TV fairly quickly. I like the design of the TV, it looks quite elegant. I didn't have any issues with my last Samsung 1080p TV in the last 5 years and I'm enjoying this TV so far (it's been a little more than 2 months). I've posted a couple screenshots from a game that I played on this TV.

I couldn't POSSIBLY be happier! It's so awesome! Clear, craaaaaaaazy fast and smart. The remote is so brilliant. Push one button and talk to it. It understands very well. Some things need to be phrased properly. It is heavier than it looks. Wall anchor it in wood is a must.

Brilliant picture but i have had to exchange my first one UN55KS8000 due to dark spot on the screen. Second one, i upgradedvto a UN65KS8500 which just died after few days. No picture, no sound, screen and red power botton light just keeps blinking. So, I called Samsung, bad customer service, unable to diagnose the problem. So Best Buy replaced my TV with another UN65KS8500

I was really apprehensive about making this particular purchase only because i was looking to get the best of the best for the $$$. I was looking at purchaseing the LG OLED's which to me looked absolutely amazing but the prize was almost double the price i purchased this samsung for. When the tv was delivered it was much larger than i thought it would be or larger than i viewed it in the store so i was certainly pleased. I've owned nothing but SAMSUNG Tv's in the past . Overall the picture is amazing - I love the menu options. the only down side i would have to say is that the remote does not light up. The remote is very sleek and modern looking, however, it does not have any lights to see in the dark and that is the only con in this list of pro's!

The TV is great man. Don't hesitate. If you're eyeing this puppy just pull the trigger. Anything below the KS8000 and you're losing that premium brand. The Xbox One S works great with it also.
The upscaling the TV does is top notch. Watching Daredevil on Netflix in 4K was superb. This baby is packed with tech and I love it.

I had looked for a smart TV for over 2 years and finely found exactly what I was looking for! This Samsung TV is so easy to use. Plenty of HDMI ports for all my extras (PlayStation, Roku and Apple TV). Easy to use remote that I can use with the Roku & Apple TV, wish I could use it with my PlayStation. The color and bright screen makes watching TV more enjoyable. I can't be happier. I was a Sony gal but I'm very happy with Samsung! Told all my friends that this 55 inch is the way to go!!

After extensive research and testing ( Sony 8 series tried and failed) I waited for one of the three best times to buy a tv during the retail year; Black Friday, Christmas/Newyear, and Super Bowl week. At 999.99 only Black Friday can sometimes beat the other two holidays. As for my selection, there are excellent sutes that have done extensive testing on all the current models and simply put, this tv comes the closest to OLED models without the price tag ! That being said it boils down to 'diminishing returns' because of can spend more money and improve your picture quality but not in a truly appreciable way. That is to say better models exist for picture quality but not at this price point and with the features of the Samsung.
The One connect is a BRILLIANT innovation. When you mount a 55" or larger to a swing arm on the wall you will truly appreciate the simplicity of only one wire to the TV and a power cable! The Sony setup is old school and awkward to say the least! The only negative I have to add is minimal and it's the controller, it's so small it gets lost and easily gets random buttons pressed... loose that and your Golden! Buy this TV!

This tv is simply beautiful. Purchased the ku7000 before this tv and what a difference. So glad I returned it. Gaming, movies are stunning with crisp detail. The only gripe I have is the stand. It's two legs that you snap in on both ends of tv. Beautiful design but I had to get a new TV stand for it. I was cheap and didnt want to splurge for a new one. But i dont regret it. It was too long for my old stand. Lol. As for everything else, no complaints.

I purchased this 55” TV SUHD TV that came with a nice manufacturer defect see attached photos. Samsung will not do anything about it they direct me back to Best Buy where now it appears that we have to pay for good customer service which is called Geek Squad protection. I did the wall installation myself but If I would have paid the Geek Squad protection they would have come to my house and replace it for me but because I didn’t I’m the one that is inconvenienced due to a defective product. I have to take it off the wall, packet up and drive back to the store then repeat. You would think if a customer just bought a TV with a defect they would have been more apologetic and come to my house and replace it for me. I was told you should have purchased Geek protection. If only the Best Buy guy would have picked a different TV.

Only problem was after less than two months a small black horizontal line came across TV. Went to store, great customer service. Since I had TV more than thirty days had to get Samsung involved with warranty. Called Samsung same day. Went through all system settings and decided I need service. Service called same day, sent pictures of black line on TV. They ordered part. Expecting to receive in 2-4 days then service tech to replace. We will wait and see if corrected We are in a hold pattern now
