The picture is gorgeous, absolutely crystal clear 4kHD, the apps for Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime have rendered my roku useless. I love the minimalist remote control. I replaced a 4 year old Samsung that I thought it had a good quality tv picture but when you compare it with the Q series feels like analog technology. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

We've had a 52 inch samsung tv for the past 13yrs. The picture quality is simply amazing on it even though its an older tv. The tv started to randomly turn off and on. We did some research and found this is an issue other people have experienced. We tried everything short of replacing transistors and motherboard. By the time we would spend the money on those we could have bought a new tv. So we shopped around looking at LG, Sony, & Samsung (the big 3). LG's OLED screens look great but the chance of burn-ins wasn't worth the risk for the amount of money they are going for. We narrowed the search between Sony & Samsung. We looked online to find a BB that had the Samsung 55 Q8F in stock. We could only find one store that had one in stock within 50 miles from us. So we went to that store since it had both the Sony tv and the Samsung tv we were interested in. We first looked at the Samsung Q8F and the picture was clear and vibrant. Then we looked at the Sony, which had a great picture but seem to be dull after looking at the samsung picture. Both screens seem to not have any dark spots. After having samsung tv for some time now, we thought about giving Sony a try but we just couldn't pass up the picture quality on the Samsung Q8F. Plus another deciding factor were the TV's internal speakers. The Sony had the typical speakers that most of the tvs are using these days which forces you to buy a sound bar if you want to actually hear anything. The Samsung Q8F has 4 speakers and a woofer. It's not remotely close to having a sound bar but this tv didn't force us to buy one which saved us money. The sound from the internal speakers is plenty for our bedroom. So no issues hearing dialogue at all. The speakers actually sound pretty good. The bass is not really there at all but I didn't expect a tv woofer to put out much anyways. Overall, we are happy with our choice to go with this tv.

I'll try and keep it short and sweet lol. I recently purchased this 55Q8FN and absolutely love it!! I'm amazed at the amount of details this QLED can display. If you're looking for the most dynamic picture, especially in the color and brightness range, this is it!! When it comes to black levels, the TVs full array panel definitely works on giving the TV an amazing boost on contrast. Although my QLED cannot do "perfect black" like the OLED can, I can notice more details in the dark scenes parts of the movie. For an example, if I watch the Batman: The Dark Knight, which has tons of dark scenes, I can see that the TV is able to show within the dark scenes. I have also watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi and I was really impressed on how it handled the black levels in the "space" scenes. The absolute best things about this TV however, is the colors and brightness. With 4K movies, I can definitely see the extensive range of colors this QLED has! The HDR levels on this TV is insane!! The lighting effects this TV gives off is amazing. Any time the TV needs to shows a sunset, natural light or artificial light, the TV really shines where it's supposed to. Very accurate on where the light in the movie scenes needs to be. You really have a sense of what the scene wants you to feel. The smart system is very quick and easy to use. I use Netflix, Spectrum App, and Vudu for 4K streaming and it is awesome! The ambient mode is also a feature I use every now and then. I use it as a Screensaver or background feature, instead of the TV being off at times, I'll have it on ambient mode. Overall I really am satisfied and impressed with the QLED. It's a totally different experience when watching these 4K HDR movies!! Absolutely incredible!

After months of research, I picked up a 55” Q8. The picture is great, save for the FALD effects on uniform images and local bright spots. After initially deciding to address those considerations by swapping for an LG OLED, the difference in reflection handling for our bright living room meant the superior reflection handling of the Samsung far outweighed any image quality considerations.

I purchased this tv to replace a 5 year old Sony Bravia that was not a 4K UHD TV for my bedroom. I can't say enough about the picture quality of this Samsung Q8F 4K UHD Series TV! The quality of the QLED vs. LED is just amazing. I highly recommend getting the highest QLED rating for the best picture. The difference between the QLED 7 and QLED 8 was significant in my view. I would have gotten a QLED 9 but the 55" only went as high as an 8. I am a very happy customer!

Let me start by saying that it is the best TV I’ve owned. The colors are amazing and my eyes are in awe of the myriad colors it produces. The deepest black and the purest white gives out crisp, sharp images. Simply put, the picture is breathtaking. And playing my XBox One X on this TV is spectacular. Love it !!!

I currently own a Sony Bravia and it was time to upgrade to a 4K smart TV. I was going to just get another Sony (900F) but when I arrived at Best Buy the Samsung QLED tv’s just flat out had the brightest most colorful picture in the department hands down. So i went home shocked that the Sony didn’t wow me. I did some QLED research, decided on a Q7 returned a couple of days later talked to a rep who was QLED knowledgeable and took it up a notch to a Q8 backlit. Out the box the tv recognized my network, cable box, receiver and gaming system. It gave them icons and the ability to use the one remote to turn them on and off and control the cable box features. Download the Samsung app connect to your tv and you can open apps and one touch sign into your YouTube and other apps. This was incredibly easy for such a high tech TV. Now the picture quality, this TV’s up scaling makes everything you watch below 4K look amazing so the lack of 4K content out the box doesn’t matter the color palette and blacks here are incredible and everything is immersive and sometimes look like there’s a 3D effect happening! Blu-Rays, tv shows, streaming, DVR, HD cable channels and sports are a breeze for the QLED. The one touch adjustments make setting your TV up for what your watching a breeze until you get familiar with manual calibrations. The auto game mode is handy and you can easily turn off if your watching content and not playing games. The Bixby virtual assistant is easy to use and voice commands are handy. Ambient mode is perfected here and can be useful. It’s been a week and I can’t wait to get home and watch tv and I’m still amazed at the picture quality I’m getting out of non 4K content. I will be upgrading to 4K cable and Netflix and can’t wait to be blown away. So if your looking to upgrade to a 4K smart tv or your not happy with your current HD TV or you just want to give your entertainment an serious upgrade Samsung QLED is a safe bet! Prepare to be immersed and wowed!

First and foremost, I should say that my issue with this television is not completely on the hardware or picture of the television. I consider myself to be a bit more tech savvy than most so I’m extremely particular in how my stuff works. Let’s start with the good: The picture on this television is quite good. When you see it in the store it looks flawless. I strongly urge anyone purchasing this to understand that the store settings are not the factory settings. So, if you’re having issues with how it looks, please take time (A LOT of time) to mess with the settings, read reviews and set the picture to be what you want it to look like. You can (borderline) make any television black and white if you wanted. The thin bezels are beautiful. The TV is light, thin and can have the ability to truly hug the wall if you get the proper mount for it. Ambient mode is a nice addition, but it has a ton of shortcomings (more on that later). I have no use for the Samsung One remote as I have a Harmony Elite remote. However, I did mess with it and it is a very nice added feature to be able to have a simple remote to control all your devices. Getting the remote to do that, though, was troublesome at times. Having the ability to turn off the ‘home hub’ or whatever Samsung calls it is a pretty big win as well. Other companies ‘force’ you to have that always pop up. Navigate the settings and you’ll get this disabled. Now, onto the bad: Remember how I mentioned the picture being good? It’s not as good as other counterparts. I was recently watching Daredevil (S3) on this and the episode looked fine – no issues. When I went to my Sony XBR-65X750D – the picture looked A LOT better. Honestly, night and day. This was not 4k content, either, just standard 1080p all from the same source and across an arguably worse streamer (more on that later). I made some adjustments to the Samsung, again, and I believe I got it to as close to the Sony as possible. Ultimately, though, I think Sony is just a better brand. Due to the amount of streaming that I do, I have players that handle that for me. Always was a Roku guy to handle my streaming services as I felt that was the ‘best’ in the game, especially for the price. For some reason Roku and Samsung TVs do not work well together. I was getting choppy audio and audio lags when streaming through the Roku. (Sonos Playbar through optical wire). This never occurred when streaming on a Sony Television. (For those that care, I changed my player to an Nvidia Shield on this Samsung TV and the audio issues stopped. This still does not explain why I never had issues on a Sony with the Roku, but did here). Ambient Mode – as mentioned above, this is a very nice addition to not having the need to see a black box hanging above my fireplace. Samsung claims to have a nice feature that allows you to take a picture of your television on your wall to make it blend in seamlessly. This ‘feature’ is a failure and did not work. Furthermore, it’s the only way to get a ‘custom’ photo on your screen. So you’re either stuck with the blackness of a television turned off OR with the stock photos they have. They’re not entirely bad, but Samsung was misleading with what this technology can and cannot do. I bought this television for the ambient mode and the hope to get it to blend in with my custom fireplace. I’m upset I didn’t return it and go back to the roots as a Sony consumer for televisions. For a long time everyone said Samsung was the best. Seeing it in the store, along with these ‘extra’ features made me second guess myself. Sony’s adaptation of Android TV has been a wonderful experience. Samsung’s software often falls short. It’s as if they rolled out a product without consumer testing it. I have found issues left and right that I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention here. I’ve attached some photos of how this looks in a ‘real’ setting. One has the ambient mode, another is a still from Planet Earth. Use your discretion when purchasing this and don’t get hooked on the extra features like I did without fully realizing their limitations. If I could, I would ‘trade’ this for a comparable Sony in a heartbeat. I bought this for $2,200 back in May and got it price adjusted on Memorial Day for an even $2,000. It’s now at $1,700 which is probably closer to a ‘fair’ price for this television. Looking back, $2,200 was too much and even $2,000 was too much for the issues I have faced. This should priced at the $1,300-$1,600 range in my opinion and probably closer to that lower end spectrum. Good luck and enjoy(?).

I have always been a big fan of samsung, but the q8 qled really does pull through as a leader...I think what I was most surprised and pleased with was 1. The ease of set up with wifi and existing products connected. . Also the ease of setting up apps through my galaxy s8 plus was a breeze! 2. Sound quality on this tv rivals other tvs with sound bars...I thought about purchasing a separate sound bar to go with this tv, but thought I'd wait and see how it was first... glad I did! I mean you won't get booming bass, but it's great for a small to medium sized room. Overall very happy with this tv!

Love the picture, the blacks are deep and rich. I switched from the LG Oled C8 because of the fear of image retention. I was sceptical of the remote but it is excellent, this is the first universal remote that I've had that controls my Firestick. I took 1 star away because of the issues with mounting. I've had to purchase new M8 45mm screws for my mount. I've put 4 different model tvs on the same mount and never had an issue. Will update after the screws come in and I'm able to try mounting. I think Samsung is trying to get people to buy their no gap mount. Also I've seen people complain about ads on the TV but you can easily turn that off in the settings.

Thought long and hard over this tv versus OLED. Decided OLED technology was not mature enough (reliability engineering background), and any potential screen burn-in is not acceptable when the manufacturer won't stand behind a fix. Although not as intuitive as my Samsung 6000 series 4k tv, the Q8FN LED picture blows away the other 4k tv's. Picture is crisp and text readable without my glasses which I can't do with my 6000 series. Other than some occasional stutter (not ruling out FIOS as the cause the tv works great. Two things I've noticed: (1) Switching between some apps causes the soundbar to drop out and you have to set it back to HDMI; (2) Unlike my 6000 series FIOS isn't listed on the bottom with other apps and sometimes getting back to FIOS is pain. Need time to play the setup more. Bought the extended warranty (never done this before) since the technology is new but I haven't read of any real problems on the web. Plus, this tv is expensive and infant mortality tends to kick in as soon as the OEM warranty is up.
