Customers value the 7.5 Cu. Ft. Stackable Electric Dryer with Sensor Dry for its excellent performance, ease of use, and quiet operation. Many appreciate its capacity and the energy efficiency features, finding it a great value for the price. The dryer's size is also frequently praised for its suitability to various spaces. My first Samsung Dryer

All dryers have been front-loading since I can remember, but this is my first matching set, purchased with my Samsung washer (also reviewed). I purchased the pair because Consumer Reports rated Samsung models very high (and they had lower reported repairs than other models) and because Best Buy did a price match on a competitor sale. This unit must go on sale often since I paid $599, and recently I saw it at Best Buy for $579, so if you're in the market, keep your eyes opened. I made the mistake of going for the storage bins, I guess I thought it made them look cool, but WHAT A WASTE.... Nothing I use fits under the washer or dryer.
Dryer Pros
-VERY quiet
-Easy to use control panel
-Wrinkle prevention mode works well
-Musical start-up and cycle finish makes me smile
-Power and Cycle Start buttons
-Lint screen is EASIEST to use EVER
-Control panel reminds you to clean the screen
Dryer Cons
-Way larger than I expected
-Storage bin is WORTHLESS, save your dollars
-Occasionally I will have to run heavy loads through more than one cycle to get towels dry, but I own that I may not be using a high enough temp the first time
I will follow-up on this review based on my experience. This unit looks great next to it's washer counterpart, and the performance is as good as I have heard from people.

I know that's the purpose of a dryer- but after being used to running the dryer 2-3 times, this is a great feature :-)
Easy to clean the lint trap, easy to load and unload, easy to install, easy to start a load. It all makes sense, and it's also really quiet.

Works amazing, love this dryer. It's quiet, dry fast, a lot of features to choose from, look elegant, but sadly I returned this unit that works absolute fine just because of my washer. I purchases a matching pair and stacked. I was so sad to returned it because I chose to get the better one (my brand new washer leaking problem) I can't keep this dryer because not matching :(

Love this dryer! I got the matching machine as well. My clothes dry very fast. There are several settings to use depending on what you are drying. Ease of use, quite, signal when load is ready. I did a lot of research before purchase. I love this dryer! Laundry is no more an all day activity that has to be baby sat. It manages it all on its own!

This is a very good front-load large dryer. It is quiet and easy to understand. It is a Samsung, so a high-quality piece of equipment. It has a large bin and can handle some heavy duty items. We are very satisfied with it.

This appliance is very easy to use. It is very quiet and run very efficiently. I can already tell the difference after using it on a few loads of clothes how much better this one is than my old Maytag dryer. I would recommend Samsung to anyone looking for a new dryer!

Tensioner/Idler Failed 2 Months Out of Warranty

We purchased this dryer because we purchased the same model 12 months earlier and it is still performing flawlessly. Manufacturing has moved to Mexico since and cost-saving measures are in place. The most recent model we received was a DV42H5000EW/A3
This version of the dryer has a plastic sleeve bearing on the tensioner/idler pulley. This failed 14 months after purchase. ($220 to fix). The pulley was seizing up and was (upon inspection after repair) failing with burn-marks on the wheel. The replacement tensioner/idler pulley has a ball-bearing assy replacing the sleeve. It appears much more reliable.
In the photos, I've included a picture of the pulley you DO NOT want, and a picture of the pulley you DO want. Hopefully someone who is up to date can ensure us the ball bearing pulley is currently in use.

The dryer dries clothes much faster and more efficiently than the older style. It's extremely quiet. The only thing I would recommend if buying the pedestal otherwise you're constantly bending over

I bought this dryer because it matched the washing machine I was needing to buy to replace a dying machine. I used to use my old dryer on one setting, Timed, and set it to 55 minutes, for everything. That worked fine for me.
However, this new dryer uses sensors to determine how dry the clothes are, and stops when it feels they are done. So, again, I have been using this dryer on one setting as well, "Normal." With the matching washing machine, I wash five pairs of large jeans (38 x 34) at a time, the this dryer does a nice job of drying them. There is enough room in the drum to let them tumble and they dry enough, without being "cooked" by excessive time and heat.
I have noticed that if you overload the dryer, and used the Normal setting, sometime the clothes can wad up and the stuff in the center will not be completely dry. Also, with big bulky items, like King size blankets or comforters, it is necessary to take them out and re-wad them, so they dry evenly. This is not a failing of this machine though, since this is often required even at the laundromat.
Note: Once the Normal cycle is finished, if you want to fluff your clothes again, because you have let them sit for a while, you will need to switch the dryer to "Wrinkle Release," since the sensors on Normal will "see" the clothes as dry already and stop. Wrinkle Release will run for 24 minutes, regardless.
If I were to be overly critical, I find that the lint trap is fussy. I'm used to one that is flat, it pulls out and you gather the lint, then slide it back into place. This machine's trap isn't radically different, but it is a cage that folds over, kind of like a taco, and you have to undo the latch to open it up and remove the lint. This takes a bit of concentration and practice since the "taco" is always trying to close back up on itself.
The other thing that I find just plain silly, is the song it plays when it is done with a drying cycle. Not only it is silly, but it goes on, and on and on. I guess it is much better than a harsh buzzer, like in days of old, and I know I saw something in the owners manual about changing it, but I have told it to shut up, more than once.
Looking back, I have to admit, that if that is all I can complain about, the lint trap and the end signal, than I must be pretty happy with the way this dryer its functioning. And I am.

Very large dryer and with 9 cycles it is the perfect fit. I don't have a bunch of cycles I don't use. The price was good because other dryers with more cycles are probably a waste of money as you never use all cycles. Controls are easy to figure out. Very happy with purchase.

This dryer is amazing! On sale, I paid just under $500 for it. It is amazing not because of this price, but because it stacks up against much more expensive dryers. Here's a quick snapshot of drying times: large load of towels - 42 mins; large load of work clothes - 30 mins; load of baby clothes - 25 mins; load of sheets & blankets - 40 mins; load of heavy comforters (can fit 2 queens) - 1 hr 20 mins.
The preset features pretty much covers anything you could want to dry. The small load care feature ensures even the tiniest loads get dry, while the sensor dry actually works!! No more balled up sheets with the center still wet--this thing is amazing!
It does not have a steamer function, but I would not likely use it anyway. Besides, the next model is almost double the price to get the steamer and it just isn't worth it.
I highly recommend this dryer. I love it so much, I bought one for my grandma (she has no problems using it).

My first new washer/dryer set that wasn't a "hand-me-down" from relatives or left with the place. It may not have all the bells & whistles, but I couldn't be happier...bought it during a great sale, had it delivered and installed without too much hassle, and it runs so quiet, sometimes I forget a I started the laundry, which is an improvement over units in the past when it would sound like a jet engine running in the house. The high efficiency units use less water, power, and require less detergent to do the same job!

Had to wait over a month to have it delivered, which was a little inconvenient; but went old school and hung things on the line to dry. Excited to finally have it delivered and ready to go. Have already used it multiple times, and very pleased. Larger load capacity and much quieter that our previous dryer. Probably won’t use all the functions that are available, but generally very easy to control settings.
