    Good TV but....

Bought 75inch Q7 tv. Everyone has talks about the picture quality of the QLED series. That is true. I give this model 4 stars only becoz of these facts 1. My biggest reason to buy the TV was no gap feature with appropriate wall mount. I was debating frame tv vs this QLED. Also got a no gap 75inch Samsung wall mount. I was disappointed to see a large gap in between my dry wall and TV after Geek squad installed my TV. More so at the top of the TV as this things tilts forward. So if you are buying the TV for the no gap feature that they are promoting, be ready to get disappointment. 2. My reason to buy this tv was also the new ambient mode. So far this feature has been a huge disappointment. The ambient mode works with the smartthings app. Good luck with that. Even Samsung support couldn’t help. Can’t upload my pics to tv. Neither can customize background. I wonder stand that is probably a issue with the app, but if major part of market g of the product is based on this feature, you need to make sure that it works with the app. Contacted support and they blamed my iPhone X. Unfortunately I don’t have a new android phone. I have a older Samsung phone and the app does not work on older phones either.

      Sunildhar,

I am glad to hear that you enjoy the Q9F overall picture quality, and thank you for sharing your user experience with us.

The no-gap wall mount is designed for cases where the TV is mounted high and users wish to tilt the TV down/forward for seated viewing. Based on the pictures you have shared, your Q9F is currently titled forward, and you should be able to push the top of the TV back so that it is much closer to the wall.

I do apologize that you had difficulties using the SmartThings app to control Ambient Mode.
Our engineers have tested its functionality with the SmartThings app version 1.6.06-118, and confirmed that the personal picture uploading is working.
It is called, "Make My Own." Please go to Ambient Mode, select Photo, select Make My Own, then follow the instructions.

You can also customize your own wall background using the Flip Flop feature under Ambient Background.
You can access this feature by clicking on the app menu icon on the upper right side, then select Ambient Background.
Click on the Flip/Flop icon, and select where on the wall you would like to take the picture. Then follow the onscreen steps to complete the process.
We are working on perfecting the other option- the Wall Generation feature- at this time.
Once it is available, your Q9F will receive an auto update that activates that feature.

If there is anything we can do to further assist and improve your user experience, please do let us know by contacting Samsung Customer Support via the following options:

The color quality is brilliantly vivid and the black color is deep and lustful. This TV will sync with all wireless devices except "Alexa" Rind Door Bell. You will need a extra device to make Alex send Rind Door Bell Alerts to your TV. I know it can be done, but I haven't figured it out yet. The internet is easy to navigate "You will need a wireless keyboard and mouse". This TV is also voice controlled using the remote. I download movies to my thumb drives and this TV will play all of them. YouTube 4k HDR videos will blow your mind. I also purchased a sound bar to bring in that theater experience and it's mind blowing. All my friend and family will say that TV is too clear and its hard to watch until their eyes become adjusted to the clarity. Get a 4K DVD player to see the New Movies clearer than at the movies. Get 4k HDMI cables to see the best quality picture.

    Overall a great tv

Upgraded from a 10 yr old dlp projection. Wow, this thing can get BRIGHT!! No issues at all with ambient light from windows/lamps/etc or glare. Many great features, tons of options when setting up. Integration with smart things app actually works well. I took off a star for the following: -setup was a bit confusing, but I am using a cable box routed through a home theater receiver. Which makes it trick. The TV/ remote thought the receiver was the cable box... Which it sort of is but in terms of using the remote inqas having issues. I found by plugging the cable box directly into the one connect, it recognized the box. In the switched it back to route through the receiver and I have mostly full funtionality with the remote. Will adjust sound via HDMI arc on smart TV apps but not when watching cable. Maybe it's just my setup but it's kind of annoying but I do use a harmony remote, which does everything except when I want to use the TV apps... So basically I use 2 remotes, could be worse. -also, the apps are disappointing. Just the big ones then a bunch of random nonsense. We use a lot of apps for the kids... NickJr, Disney, etc. Had to plus the Chromecast back in which I was looking forward to ditching. -initially I was struggling with the display settings. I did not pay for professional calibration. I found many of the modes to be sort of trying too hard. Picture looked very "digital"?... Unnatural. Overly processed. Watching cnbc and the ticket on the bottom was painful as it scrolled across the bottom. Granted, I pass the picture through my receiver, so that was definitely a factor. I resolved by putting the TV in "movie mode", minimizing the processing done by the receiver and then just gentle tweeks on the TV settings. Now, very happy with the picture. I say this more of a review for those using a receiver than a knock on the TV. Bottom line, Would I be just as happy with a tv that costs half as much? Probably. Or at least I wouldn't know the difference. But no regrets on the purchase. I think as 4k content becomes more readily available, the experience will just be even better.

We purchased the Samsung 2018 75Q9F a little more than a month ago. Set up of TV was fairly easy and straight forward. Installation: We used the no gap mount which was relatively easy to install, I've installed wall mounts before and this was about as easy as others. If you haven't done an installation before just be careful to follow instructions and make sure you are aligning to wall studs or have a professional do it. The only thing I would recommend if you do self install is use different lag screws. The ones that come with the TV are Phillips head and stripped easily plus I felt were not robust enough for a 95lb TV. So I used better load capacity hex lag screws instead. Hex is the way to go. Set up: The one connect box was very easy to set up and the TV recognized my cable box (Verizon FIOS) and Blue ray player. I use a 7.1 Onkyo receiver and set it up with optical out so that wasn't recognized. It was easy enough to set up in the TV menu system after the fact so not a problem. Overall getting the TV up and running, including slight picture adjustments, after mounting took maybe 20 mins. TV: Sources: FIOS TV- once the STB was recognized and connected to the Samsung one connect the remote was able to bring up the guide and most functions worked well. This was one of my concerns going in and it turned out to be a non issue. The menu/guide comes up and once you figure out how to use the slimline remote you can do just about anything the FIOS remote can do, minus actually entering in the channels manually. You have to do one extra step for the DVR functionality but it's not bad. The home button on the remote lets you quickly go from Netflix, to FIOS to Prime to Hulu etc. It's very fast. I have no real gripes about the remote or navigating between sources. It's about as intuitive as I would have hoped for. The only slight pet peeve is why isn't the remote backlit? Anyway it just takes a little time getting used to. I still have a Harmony to power on/off the whole setup though. I haven't used the Bixby voice command but from what I've read it's not great. It's a feature I really don't care about. TV Picture: Overall excellent I use regular 1080P FIOS content, NetFLix, Prime and Hulu sources. The TV upscaling is very good on non 4K material. The only issue I see once in a while is shadowing which only seems to happen when the BW to the TV is lower either due to my own Wifi or the source itself. I don't see the effect on cable only on streaming. It's rare and not a TV issue from what I've researched but a connectivity/source issue. A good Wifi connection is essential for 4K streaming. That aside the picture has been excellent. Most of the content we watch is still 1080P upscaled and it looks really good to my wife's and my eyes. But once you actually see 4K material it's like your viewing life out of a window. Truly amazing. The colors are so real and the blacks are very deep. We were watching a 4K nature film and you literally feel like you are there. Almost surreal. It's also been reported that the panel Samsung uses has a poorer viewing angle than the panels used by Sony or LG. In our room we are mostly viewing straight on or at a slight angle so this has not been an issue and was not high on our priority list of requirements but something to be considered if you have a set up where extreme viewing angles are part of the dynamics. Size, color, black level and brightness are the reason we went for the Q9 vs the Q8 or Q7. I researched and looked at the Sony UHD/OLED and the LG OLEDs (various models). Those are both really good brands and based on which model, OLEDs in particular, are equal to or slightly better than Samsung on black depth and color but the Samsung is much brighter at 2K NITS. Of course it's a matter of personal preference on all of this but based on features and wanting a 75" set the Q9 was the right choice for our viewing needs.

Yes, it’s expensive, but it is worth the cost. The picture, the ability to calibrate the image to your home, the thin bezel. I’ve had it for about 3 months now and have had loved it. I hooked up my Xbox and it recognized what it was immediately, same with my PlayStation. It even set the imputs to those names and icons. On top of that, the remote, without any work on my end works with the Xbox. So I can browse whatever streaming service on it with the remote through the Xbox. The TV’s native apps for streaming services are up to date and easy to use. There is a mic function on the remote to make things even easier, though I prefer to browse, so don’t really use it. Te ambient mode is relaxing and gives a nice atmosphere when not actually watching when company is around. The picture is crisp and responsive. Bright when you want it to be, dark when you want it dark. This is not an OLED screen, but it has several sections of backlights allowing it to get very black blacks. The only thing it doesn’t have, or at least I haven’t found, is picture in picture. My older Samsungs all had that, and I used it a lot during football season. The one connect box is nice and is a true one connect where everything including power connects to it so there really is only one very thin cable going to the the display.

I started looking for a new TV in the 65" class to replace my old 65" rear-projection set. I was mostly comparing the LG OLED TVs with the Samsung QLEDs. After looking at both and with assistance from associates at Best Buy, I settled on the Samsung Q9. I selected this primarily because it provided a brighter image than the LG. The blacks from the Samsung Q9 turned out to be very dark even though my viewing room is fairly light during the day and the colors were very clear and crisp. It looked so nice that I moved up to the 75" version.

Wow what a picture. I had to question whether spending $3000 more than other top rated 4K TVs would show a noticeable difference, but after watching the TV for a week now the blacks are really black the colors are super! The picture is so sharp I almost cut my eyes looking at it. If you got the money to spend, it’s worth it. I am loving this TV .

I read the reviews on this TV for a long time before finally pullinng the trigger to purchase. Would do it again. I am a normal guy reviewing this tv and will not try and give you a tech review which 99% cant understand. This tv has an excellent picture and colorful and bright. My old DLP when on I had to have a flashlight to see to walk in the family room. This tv lights up like a movie theater. I have it paired with marantz 7011 and Klipsch 280f towers and Klipsch 450c center and Bic f-12 sub and 4 surround . I love it and love my wife for letting me get.

This TV is everything I expected and more! Bright, beautiful and vibrant colors with deep black through local dimming feature. I was on the fence with LG OLED, but went with Samsung. Great features, including full pass through of Dolby 5.1 from PlayStation, etc. Only minor negative is the included universal remote. Although it works quite well, it is not as capable, nor as customizable as a Harmony Elite. For wall mounting, the Samsung no gap wall mount is the only way to go. Read the instructions carefully before installation and you will be very satisfied with the result! Family and friends can’t believe how beautiful this tv is! Highly recommend!

Our 75 inch Q9 was delivered and installed about 2 weeks and so far could not be more pleased. Our primary motivation in selecting the Q9 was viewing location. Our viewing room always has artificial light (we do not watch TV in the dark) and there is some natural light from one floor to ceiling window. After reading reviews, we hoped the QLED would work better for us than the OLED. The Geek Squad installation went OK. We also bought a new SONOS sound bar so did not want to mess with the installation ourselves. Took about 90 mins total. The TV itself is as advertised. The picture is very bright even in a well lit room. In a store showroom, I am always skeptical of the content that is displayed, since it is chosen to present the TV in the best way, and home viewing may not be able to replicate that experience (non-4K content, etc). Pleasantly surprised that the picture at home is just as good as it was in the stores. Have not tried the ambient mode yet, so no comments on that. So far so good.
