Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the large capacity, quiet operation, and excellent cleaning performance of the Activewash 5.4 Cu. Ft. washer. Many appreciate its ease of use and the spacious tub size. However, some users mention the washer's depth as a potential drawback, and a few have experienced issues with balance and the lid's tendency to close unexpectedly. There are also some concerns about the washer's long-term reliability.

I was skeptical about purchasing the new non-agitator models of washers as I had experience with an LG that didn't use enough water and didn't clean well. But all the agitator types were low-end and only came in white. So after reading the reviews I took the chance and bought the Samsung pair. We have had them several weeks now and I must say I am pleasantly surprised that I don't have the former issues. I have washed several loads on different settings and they all have cleaned well. I just washed a white coverlet on the bedding cycle. It had an area with newsprint ink where I had left a newspaper and books on it for several days and a couple of yellow spots elsewhere. Washed it with just detergent, no bleach, and it came out perfectly clean. The dryer works well too. And the black stainless finish looks very stylish in my laundry room. The only issue I have is just getting used to the sink in the top. It would be nice to have it removable when not using. I would like to be able to see the operation of the washer and the detergent/ water levels used. So far I haven't used it as a sink, just tried it out with filling with water. I think I will use it occasionally in the future.

We bought this under the gun. Our old one died and we had to have one. We were very pleased and lucky to get this one. Love the technology and high capacity so we can wash our comforter.

Only have had this washer for 24+ hours, but it’s night and day above our last washer, which died last week. Haven’t used nearly all the features yet, but slowly working my way through it he various options. Will update my review as I figure it out and sort out the pros and cons.

To bad I have to select a 1 star .. should be a zero! This has had the main board replaced 2 times, the tub replaced, the shocks (or whatever) replaced, water valves replaced.. and it STILL does the same thing!!! Wash, rinse, partially drain then fill up again and partially drain, give like 3-4 error codes they say is off balance BUT IT IS NOT.. I pause the washer while the error code is on.. then start it again.. and it finally rinses then drains. Had the manufacture warranty do all the repairs like GEEK SQUAD SAID..now I have to starts over with Geek Squad Warranty.. SO STINKS.. This Washer is a LEMON

This does a better job cleaning clothes than the LG HE Top Load it replaced. It is a little bigger but seems a lot bigger. The settings are pretty easy to use, but I do not like the Eco Settings. they have done a good job regarding waterproof loads, and it doesn't get unbalanced as much as the LG, but also can take a very long time to 'self fix' unbalanced loads, fill with water, spin, fill with water spin, each time adds about 20 min to the load. There are 3 big negatives with the design. the built in sink is so big that it is easy to hit your head when you are reaching in to pull clothes out, which caused the lid to close on you. The built in sink blocks the view of the clothes, so what is the point of having the clear view in the lid. and the washer is so deep that it is hard to reach all the way to the bottom of the washer.

Replacing an 14 year old machine

This was purchased to replace my 14yr old whirlpool that finally gave out and I have to say, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the features. It has a lot and I haven't fully figured out all the options yet. The bin is HUGE... I can throw like 2 or 3 baskets of clothes in there whereas my old one would really only do 1 basket at a time. My favorite feature is being able to connect this washer to my wifi and have it send me notifications! My only con is that once the washer starts its cycle, I cannot open the lid and watch the clothes swish around because there is an automatic lock. As a kid I loved watching the clothes get tossed and thrown around in the washer... I still love doing that today, but I can't seem to do that anymore with this new one...bummer. Plus I just want to check my clothes from time to time! This washer is super quiet... I can hear some mechanical noises but they're so subtle -- I guess I'm used to my old washer which sounded like a large elephant stomping around in my laundry room. Overall it seems to be a good washer... it has more features than I know what to do with and it looks pretty slick -- sort of gun-metal finish. Only time will tell if this thing will last as long as my previous washer. RIP Bessie - You dun' well ole girl!

The large capacity size of this washer is amazing. So far it runs smoothly and quietly and has done a great job getting clothes clean. Only negative thing I can say is due to the tub being so deep the built in sink gets in the way when reaching in to remove clothes.

    The Steam really works!

I am one of the consumers that was part of Samsung voluntary recall. I owned a Samsung Activewash 5.2 Cu Ft Washer without steam previously. Then I received notice that my less than 1yr old washer was part of the latest Samsung recall. I never had a problem with my washer but I adhered to the recall guidelines and opted to stay with Samsung. I did however upgrade to the larger 5.4 Cu Ft with steam washing machine. I've always heard that steam cycles deep clean clothes and since I was staying with the brand, I'd go for the Steam washer. I am so glad that I did. I had some T-shirts that had a slight mildew smell when I sweat heavily that I could never get rid of. This started when I had a front load washer that would never fully dry out inside. But that's another story. I tried the vinegar remedy which didn't work for me. I smelled a hint of vinegar on these shirts and just gave up the remedy search. I retired these shirts to "work around the house gear". Won't get drenched in sweat and won't have to throw them out. So when I installed the new Steam washer, I really wanted to use the cycle on these shirts. Over 2hrs for the Steam cycle! But, my T-shirts are finally rid of the mildew smell. Yes it was a long cycle but my shirts are mildew smell free and that's all I can say. The long wash hasn't damaged any of my clothes and even tried it on my work uniforms with excellent results. Now I know first hand that this Steam cycle really works!

This washer has a very large capacity, and is very quiet. Also it gets the grime out of my work clothes. And thanks to the Wi-Fi sends me an alert when it's done while I'm upstairs watching football!

The Washer works very well, quiet and can handle large loads. The hand wash feature is nice however if you don't shut the top lid all the way the hand wash tub can fall on you when you open the lid if your not careful.

Washer so far has worked well. From tiny loads to extra large its doing its job. Easy to use. Only thing I would recommend is not using tide pods as I washed a blanket, put it in dryer and found out their was a tide pod stuck in between the bedding and this was with me pulling it out and moving it around so it would dry evenly. Had to throw it back in washer. Other than that this washer is great and washing the large loads I have needed.

I finally splurged on a new washer after 3 years of putting up with a terrible front loader that came from the prior homeowners. I can't believe I waited so long! This thing is huge and fits so much! I am 5'10, so reaching the bottom is no issue for me but I could see shorter people struggling. I am completely baffled by people saying this machine is loud. It is so quiet!!! The loudest thing is when the water fills, and that isn't really loud, it is quieter than a bath tub filling. The active wash sink is great for me! I have a crafty 6 year old who is using markers, oil pastels, paints as well as a 15 month old. I love that I can scrub the item on the side of the sink and leave it to soak for 20 mins and then dump it in the tub and go. My youngest has life threatening food allergies as well as pet dander and dust allergies, I feel confident that our clothes are getting clean and haven't even tested the steam function out yet! My only issue I have had so far was an imbalance issue when trying to wash 2 dog beds at once. They were of different sizes, so that was my fault. I have been able to wash king and queen sheets at the same time with no issues.

After ten years of a front loader, which I love, very clean clothes but the spin cycle stopped. This top loader is amazing. Much quieter that my old front loader which had our ranch home vibrating during the spin cycle. A big tech machine, so many wash options and a great computer water adjustment base on loads and clean clothes. In my Great Lakes area large enough to wash my comforters. I have an enjoyable laugh watching my wife on her toes reaching for clothes at the bottom of this washer. Did not think about that when I purchase this machine since I'm 6'4. Highly recommend just on how quiet it is.

I have done two loads, first one on steam wash, clothes came out with most of the grease gone, the steam actually removed old grease stains from previous washer. Husband is a mechanic, getting out grease and stains was a problem. This washer is very quiet, I actually thought it wasn't working, I had to listen really close. The second load I did was a normal load, I like the extra rinse for fabric softner. This washer is huge, I can't wait to wash more than one blanket at a time. So far I am very pleased with this machine, there are several great features I am looking forward to trying out.

Best decision I made purchasing this washing machine. Energy efficient and it has great feature settings. What I love most is that I am able to view the status and control the washing machine through either smart phone or tablet. It is huge!!! Lots of space to wash clothes and it fits 2 queen and king size comforters. Love love love it!!!
