    Incredible Monitor!

First of all, I was never a huge fan of Samsung products, traditionally only purchased Sony Televisions, Apple Mobile Devices, Canon/Sony Cameras, however, Samsung and LG are the only monitor manufacturers who heavily innovate in the display industry. So when I started doing research into Monitors for my new Office/PC Gaming Setup they were where I started. I soon eliminated LG for the search as I never cared for IPS displays and they don’t produce OLED Monitors. That left me with Samsung. I debated for weeks on whether I wanted to go with the CHG70 or the CHG90, after getting my desk there was no way I could accommodate the CHG90 so this model was the last one standing. When I first unboxed it I realized Samsung did a fantastic job with production on this model. Build Quality is excellent. There are a few games I use to test displays with, Madden for motion clarity, Doom for contrast, and Assassin’s Creed Origins for Color. Out of the Box the picture quality was fantastic for Non HDR content, but for HDR content it was very washed out. There was contrast to the image. As an owner of 2 OLED Televisions I just attributed it to being an edge lit LED-LCD Display, not much could be done. It wasn’t until I was very bored one night playing Assassin’s Creed III Remastered which forces HDR on automatically that I said, maybe I could tweak settings and fix the contrast. I tried decreasing Brightness, but all that did was lower the highlight (Backlight) brightness. That is when I found the Black Equalizer setting and read its description that I realized it was the magic setting I needed. Samsung’s menu has the setting as the one that lowers the black levels independently from the highlight (Brightness) settings. To me, this was brilliant. I adjusted this setting and the image transformed. No longer was the picture washed out on HDR. It was everything that HDR should be. Highlights had impact, blacks were deep, and color had incredible pop to them. Long story short, I no longer have any complaints about this monitor. For those having issues with HDR being washed out, I highly encourage you increasing the Black Equalizer setting, this will match the blacks to the ambient blacks in the room giving you the rich vibrant image that you are looking for. Bravo Samsung, Bravo.

I love this monitor and for the price it really cant be beat. The build quality and design is flawless and the graphical quality is just jaw dropping awesome. My friend and I both have one. I would totally recommend anyone looking for a 1440p 144hz monitor to purchase this monitor.

For the price it's the best monitor I've owned so far for Quad HD and it's supposedly does g-sync as well as freesync 2 although I'm still wondering if it's actually doing g-sync but when I turn the freesync to option on with my Nvidia card and the local dimming turned off contrast turn to 100% And sharpness turn to 90% And set to RPG picture mode and black level 18 and then turn the freesync to ultimate and the screen gets really colorful but like I said I'm not sure if it's actually going to do g-sync even though people are saying so and the system says it's not compatible with g-sync but then why does the freesync option available normally Hardware Gray's out stuff that isn't compatible. You'll need room because from the back of the stand to the monitor is about maybe 10 inches of depth.

Like the monitor over all had a total of 3 never could resolve a color issue across the three monitors, believed to be a video card issue. That said one monitor failed out of the three and my geek squad protection covered it!

Overall the monitor is good works well. But when the response time is set to fast or fastest there is a portion of the top of the screen that is lighter then the rest and it's super noticeable when the area is black or Grey. It's about the top 8th of the screen in a bar straight across

Great affordable monitor, work's great for PS4 Pro

This is a good monitor, good money for the specs. I wanted a monitor that was HDR compatible and a refresh rate over 60hz. There were a few options but they were very expensive. I wanted something that I could use with my PS4 Pro that could take advantage of games with HDR and a higher frame rate for next gen games when console developers start cracking into higher refresh rates. I had to give in to the 2K resolution but honestly, there is not that big of a difference. Don't get me wrong there is a difference when compared to my 55" 4K HDR Samsung TV, obviously. But it wasn't enough to bum me out, I was still really happy with how this monitor looks with my PS4 Pro. Now here's the thing with the HDR mode because it isn't specified. HDR is not an accessible mode that you turn on and off. HDR mode is only activated when you are using HDR compatible content. For example, when I turn on my PS4 Pro and load up Ghost Of Tsushima (HDR compatible game) the screen refreshes itself and up in the top right corner it will show "HDMI HDR" meaning that the HDR mode is activated. So once again, it is not a mode you manually turn on and off, it activates automatically when you are using HDR compatible content. So make sure all of your console settings are correct and the content you are using is actually using HDR software. Also, the 1ms response time does not work in HDR Mode. It defaults to 5ms which I believe is usually standard with HD TV's and gaming consoles. PC gamers can obviously can take advantage of the 1ms response and Freesync tech. The base is vey bulky and takes up a lot of space on my desk but you can fit things around it to maximize your space. The adjustments for height and tilt work really well. With all that being said this was exactly what I needed for my work/gaming setup. Power button in the back lower right is a little annoying, it is also the input toggle and settings selector, wish it had a remote. I still use my TV when I have the place to myself all day. This monitor does the trick for trying to use a gaming console with a gaming monitor without going completely broke.

Great monitor - Fix for color banding issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a great monitor, both the 1440p resolution and the 144hz look incredible while gaming. The stand is a bit big so consider that if you have a small desk like I do. I've had this monitor for about four months now and I've always had really bad color banding issues with it that only seemed to get worse over time. Adjusting the gamma and other settings didn't help. Eventually I got fed up and went to write a bad review. While taking some pictures of the color banding to compare with the lack of color banding on a different monitor hooked up to the same graphics card I decided to test a different connection - since this monitor is connected via DisplayPort and the other monitor HDMI. I connected the HDMI to this monitor to discover that it was only 1080p 60hz, which I was not happy about, but at least there was no color banding. At first I thought I'd have to choose between accurate color or high resolution/refresh rate, but when I reconnected it using the DisplayPort there was no longer color banding. I suspect I just had to resit the DisplayPort connection to give it better contact. TLDR: This is a beautiful monitor. 1440p/144hz doesn't work with HDMI. If you have color banding just unplug/plug back in the DisplayPort.

So some things to be aware of with this unit. Firstly it is large, you will need ample desk space to properly room it. HDR on pc games, this is a per game situation, some titles HDR only works if Windows HDR toggle is on, and you can enable HDR in the in-game menu or it may begin HDR automatically, where as other titles will offer HDR toggle in game without the use of windows HDR. In either scenario the HDR looks great, just be aware you may need to do some manual switching for titles now and then. Response rate and free sync are fantastic on this monitor. I received this model with the latest update so there is no need to firmware patch it. Picture quality is great, and since this is the first curved monitor I have owned, this (for me) makes the experience feel more immersive. Overall this is a really great free sync monitor that is feature packed, and provides a great experience.

Utilize mostly with FireStick TV since I bought a 49". Capabilities are underutilized, but I got great deal on this item. (50% Open Item) Great picture and curve facilitates the periphial view. Like a lot. I have three Samsung curved monitors. On/Off power switch could be improved and is improved on the 49" version.

This replaced an old TN panel and the difference is very noticeable. The colors are vibrant and the blacks look great, definitely a big upgrade from the washed out colors of the old TN panel it replaced. The VA panel won out for me over an IPS because of the contrast and minimal backlight glow. I've been very happy with this and have had no ghosting or smearing with the types of games I play.

The reason I bought this product was because my home office needed some Improvement and this screen was a ten fold improvement. Great resolution, color, sharpness, graphics. I am tempted to become a gamer just thinking about how amazing the graphics will work out with this product. Highly recommended.

Stand is a bit irritating. But at the same time, don't know if I can live without a stand like this. Gorgeous monitor. Don't mind the HDR thing in the reviews, it's a windows issue. Hook it up to an Xbox or PS4, and it's the best dang HDR you're going to get in this price range!

Excellent monitor for high refresh rate 1440p gaming on PC. I’m using this with a build that has an RTX 2070 Super and a Ryzen 9 3900x and most of my game are around 110fps to 144fps locked depending on how demanding the game is. The colors are stunning due to the quantum dots but I don’t recommend using HDR with this display especially in Windows 10. The panel doesn’t get bright enough to fully utilize HDR so I stick with SDR because its brighter and more vibrant. Overall I enjoy this product and highly recommend getting this or the newer 240hz model that released this year. Also the black levels aren’t great due to it having only 4 local dimming zones but most gaming monitors are lacking in that department. If you want a monitor with deep blacks you’ll have to wait for OLED or Mini LED monitors in the future.

No kidding! QLed is where it's at. The colors pop so brightly and the blacks are absolute jet black. The 3000:1 contrast ratio and FreeSync support at 144Hz provide buttery smooth gaming and makes this display the king of the hill right now.

I use this monitor for my console gaming. Monitor is great. Colors are vibrant in normal sdr settings. HDR could use some improvements but it’s a good feature. The 27” is perfect for my setup. Any bigger and it would be to big. Unable to utilize the full 144hz on console. But did notice a difference playing 1080p/120hz. The stand takes to much desk space. So if you have a small desk be prepared to spend more money on a VESA Mount.

The stand is large. It sticks out in the back. The back of the monitor lights up. It has a joystick type of settings controller. It has 3 game setting quick buttons that I don't really use. The HDR needs to have the brightness up to 100% because its grayish in HDR mode. The curved shape is a new thing, but its OK. The monitor is HDCP compatible. It was not G-SYNC compatible when I wrote this, but NVIDIA might update their drivers.

Great Monitor, love the curve and display, works perfectly. Don't love the amount of space the stand takes up, but that is easily remedied if you plan to mount the monitor (like I was doing). Will say that if you plan on using the stand, its very easy to attach the monitor to the stand. Samsung planned it so that as you are taking parts out of the box you are assembling it, using the Styrofoam in the box to cushion/protect the monitor when attaching the base.
