Great computer with a flaw

This computer runs well and I think it would be great but my issue with it was the fact it had an ARM processor. For those who don't know what an ARM processor is its basically a simplified processor.
Therefore alot of the applications you may use may not be compatible with this type of processor and mostly Microsoft store apps are what it's limited to. I wasn't able to put an antivirus software on it due to that fact.
I ended up returning it as I felt that it would become an issue later on down the line.
The computer ran great the screen was good typing is just so comfortable and it's thin & light which is what caught my eye about it in the first place.

I bought a laptop as opened item, there was no wire for charging or any accessories including a factory box. The setup was not complicated. this was my first windows based laptop after 10 yrs. I thought this will be better than my old HP Pavillion Dv6 laptop that I bought in 2008, It says that this has 1080, but it's blurry, not sharp colors, I didn't like the screen compared to any other laptops on the market, Samsung is making an apple screen why not to make the good screen in its own product. I knew it would be slower than any other laptop on the market at the price of $350, but the screen was not sharp. Samsung disappointed me, I hope they will make a nicer screen in the future. functionally it is good for kids or people who just wanna check their emails. not fast for browsing. as it says it's for basic purposes. I will suggest getting the cheapest iPad and attaching a case with a keyboard and you are good to go.

First, I bought my laptop from Best Buy open box, and I've owned it a year and a half. I paid less than a third of the current refurbished price, and at that level, I feel I got a great deal. Now, in early 2024, this laptop is approaching three years on the market.
People look at specs a lot when shopping, understandably, but some things that make a great laptop don't appear in a spec sheet. For the Go, you get a really nice keyboard and trackpad that aren't that far behind a MacBook. You get remarkable battery life with minimal loss in standby and fast wake, so you can just shut it, set it down for a day, and pick it up right where you left off. You get surprisingly good speakers. You get a display that looks great from straight on but isn't a good choice for passive media consumption due to poor viewing angles - it's not good for playing YouTube while making dinner because you're not viewing from straight on.
The Galaxy Book Go is running Windows on ARM. For this model, you get a Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor. Most professional reviews are built around Windows 10 as it shipped in 2021. If you get this, go directly to Windows 11 and install all available updates. At this point, Windows 11 on ARM is mature and runs really well. Moving to Windows 11 also means you can run software for the more common 32 and 64 bit x86 family of processors - Windows 10 only supports 32 bit x86 processor emulation.
I would get this if you're mostly browsing using Edge, using Office, and the most casual of 2d games. This is not for 3d gaming, definitely not for VR, or other intensive tasks.
The advantage here is that the low battery warning comes on when I'm down to two hours remaining - that's about what a gaming laptop has from 100%! You can go to a coffee shop without a power adapter and work all day. It's efficient - it never gets warm, and it has no fans.

I bought this laptop as an open box excellent condition for around $88. Battery life is excellent, it's great for basic business use and on the go. I get around 17 hours of use per full charge at 85% to save battery health with the screen at 50% and no unnecessary apps running in the background. I use the Edge Browser which is quick and less RAM demanding than Chrome which is not currently optimized for Windows on Arm. Please take note that this laptop has a dimmer screen quality due to the full HD screen using an older technology to save battery life and device cost. It is not a gamer device or for high power uses such as 4K video and photos. It has many ports and SD expansion which are all helpful and time saving especially sub c charging via either side. The full plastic build is premium vs other laptops in this price range and is built to withstand some bumps and drops as well as rougher handling at times. I have not had performance issues on Windows 11 or issues with apps that I use thus far although some apps may not currently work with an arm processor such as third party anti-virus and some photo applications. All in All this was an excellent purchase for my needs with amazing battery life, it is not comparable to a Mac laptop or other higher end device because that is not what it is sold as or what it is. Great for camping and on the go, this device is my go to laptop for business and daily use away from home when my IPad Mini 6 is not enough.

My review is based on the fact I picked this up for $130 and its been running great. I had minor issues in the beginning with the windows update. I did some research and found out you have to register for insider program to update windows. For the price i paid it is a super deal. For retail its a decent machine for the price point. It is mostly for surfing web and videos. It will not playing demanding games or video editing. Imagine a android tablet with a built in keyboard. ARM processors are nice and quiet and fast responsive. Display is wonky but you get what you pay for.

Great Laptop for Basic tasks if you understand it

Understand this is an unusual laptop. It's an ARM based Qualcomm CPU and runs an ARM version of Windows. It came with Windows 10, but you should upgrade it to Windows 11 which is a lot better with ARM compatibility. If you're running Windows 10 on this, understand that most Windows apps need to be the 32-bit versions to run, or a native ARM version from the Windows store. So people may be confused by software not installing. Upgrade it to 11 and it will be able to install most 64bit Windows software as well (most common these days) but there may still be occasional incompatibilities. The upshot to ARM? This laptop runs more like your phone. Just turn it off when you're done (don't shutdown Windows) and it will restart in an instant rather than need to boot. It can get up to 18 hours of battery life in normal use. For BASIC tasks like web, word processing, school and light office work, this computer is great. No, it's not great for all but the most basic games and no CPU/GPU intensive stuff. For the price, if you need a basic, thin and light laptop with crazy battery life, this is a great deal at the clearance prices. One last thing- it charges via USB-C and most phone chargers can also charge it.

I am delighted with this light, functional Chromebook. I like the speed and the extra memory. I returned a similar priced Windows laptop and have been nothing but pleased by that decision. Thank you, Best Buy, for being so reasonable. I have a larger unit I use for videos, but this is my take everywhere device. If yours works as well as mine, you will be happy with it.

In overall it's nice fanless laptop, but be sure to understand what you are buying and upgrade to the latest Windows 11 (22H2 at the moment). Windows on ARM (the same architecture that used in most modern phones and tablets) is relatively new thing, and many reviews from 2021 are not actual at the moment. A year ago Windows on ARM was not able to run 64-bit apps and many reviews were against the laptop. Now Windows on ARM can run both 32bit and 64bit apps built for Intel. But the laptop reveals its best ARM sides (like low battery usage) when it's used with native ARM apps. Good news: Microsoft Office is native ARM app and runs really well – you can also use modern Office add-ins, like new StatPlus for Excel, and enjoy up to 15-18 hours on battery (I often see more than 12hrs with battery is 90%). Teams app is also ARM optimized and works ok. Edge browser and Firefox use the platform effectively. Bad news - Google has plans to release Chrome for Windows for ARM. You can use the Chrome (x64 bit for Intel version), but it requires emulation and battery life drops three-fold. Chromium (open-source version of Chrome, do not confuse with Chrome!) is ARM optimized, but you won't get your Google profile sync (bookmarks, passwords, etc). Other bad news: 4gb memory does not allow to run multiple apps (I mean painlessly), especially if an app requires emulation to be used (legacy printer drivers can be a death trap) and screen is awful. If all you need is a browser and MS Office, this machine would work for you. If you buy it on sale or open-box for Office/Edge - it would work better than a cheap laptop with Celeron or cheapest AMD chip (kinda Apple M1 for poor :) ). At full price or MSRP, you may find better Intel-based laptops at BestBuy. But they won't charge from a 10W usb-c car charge.

Good Secondary PC, Some Limitations

As with many things in life, you get what you pay for here. I bought this as a secondary PC to work away from home; I think that's really what suits this device best. The brain of this notebook is a derivative of what you find in a cellphone. Expect acceptable performance for basic tasks like web-browsing, word-processing, watching videos and having Spotify running in the background. Perhaps the highest point is the battery efficiency; the large 5,000+ mAh battery keeps this thing going for hours given the low-power chip. When you have to charge, the adapter is a typical cellphone USB-C adapter. The thin, fan-less profile of this device is one of the lightest 14-inch notebooks you can find at this price.
Of course you can't expect the world for a new laptop that costs around $300. There are really two glaring cons I can think of. The first one being the system having only 4GB of non-upgradable RAM. Having more than a couple tabs of Edge open will have the device taking a few seconds to reload minimized pages. The other con is infancy of arm64 in Windows. Expect to be using native arm64 apps or x86 (32-bit) emulated apps on this device. The x64 apps I've tested simply will not run at the moment, but some developers are apparently working to produce native arm64 versions.
Heavier workloads including 64-bit programs are left to my desktop at home. If you want a device you can quickly throw in a backpack to work cable-free for a few hours (given you aren't expecting much from it), this is a good value for the price.

It’s my alternative to a chromebook. I just can’t get used to the functionality of the Chrome operating system.
This was cheap.
I am cheap.
It was a marriage made in heaven.
I use my Apple Mac Mini for anything important but this seems to be a good option for things that are only compatible with Windows.
I bought it mainly because I’m trying out the Samsung Galaxy line up and testing if the family of devices is cross compatible like Apple.
I bought this Galaxy computer, the ZFold 3 phone, the Galaxy watch Classic, Galaxy Buds and I have Samsung TVs.
If they are all able to sync, I’ll be a happy boy. If not… I’ll return it all faster than you can say Let’s Go Brand0n. oh keep ya pants on.
Battery life is pretty good so far too. It’s still full after a week and I’ve opened it to use it quickly.. about 5 times. That’s impressive.
It’s also very light.
The screen image is a bit dull. Not crisp at all but ya get what ya pay for. It’s only for basic use.
I’m moody about this kind of stuff. So we will see how it goes. But I’m optimistic.

Nice laptop but Microsoft!

As stated in the other reviews the screen is sharp but washed out and 4 gb of memory is to little at times for heavy use.
My main issue was the laptop came with Windows 10 20H2 on it. I expected it to update and eventually call for Win 11. It went slowly down that path until the November cumulative patch would not apply failing and stopping further progress. Tried the Win 11 iso but the installer is not risc friendly.
Finally did a software reset from the cloud and strangely enough it offered the Win 11 upgrade before it started. That applied with no issues.
Note the Win 11 dark mode looks much better on the washed out display. To test emulation mode I installed Visual Studio, a huge app. It worked fine but was slow enough to make molasses look like the energizer bunny.
Finally tried the App Store refresh and ran into a limit of 10 devices that Microsoft has brought back. It’s fuzzy as to how it’s enforced since it was never a problem before. In Win 8.1 it was 81 and in Win 10 it became 10 but because the store was so yucky I never saw it happen. I guess Microsoft is getting back into media and looking to reduce sharing?
In summary a nice laptop that once updated runs light or moderate loads well with good battery life. Performance is fine using Edge but could use more memory and better risc support from Microsoft.

I have only had this laptop for a few days, but I'm already loving it. It's lighter than I expected it to be, and it has taken a little getting used to that it is smaller than my previous laptop, but I like that it's compact. It'll make taking it places much easier.
I've heard that the Google Chrome browser doesn't work on this laptop, but I was able to download it. I haven't used it too much, I mainly downloaded it to transfer my passwords over to Edge, which doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, given my disdain for Internet Explorer.
There are only two negatives for me, as far as this laptop goes: One: I really would have liked at least one more regular USB port. It only has one. It does have two USB-C ports, but I have a USB hub somewhere, so that isn't a huge deal.
Two: I tried pairing my Galaxy Buds to the laptop and it could not find them. It isn't a huge deal as they pair just fine to my Galaxy S10e, but I'd wanted to try using them with my laptop, as I have a trip planned to Washington DC in March, and I wanted to take the laptop to stream on in my hotel room.
I wish it had an optic drive, but again, they make USB DVD players, so that isn't a huge deal either.
The battery is AMAZING! When I got this home on Thursday, I unpacked it, hooked it up to the charger, set it up, and left it alone to finish charging. It only took about two hours to fully charge, well, that's when I went back to check, I'm sure it was faster than that. As of 12:30, Sunday afternoon as I type this, despite having used this for basic laptop functions, (web-surfing and typing via open office) my battery is at 69%, and it says I still have 6 hours and 46 minutes of battery life left. I have turned it off when I'm not using it. My pervious laptop was a used Acer that I bought on FB marketplace. Even with turning it off when I wasn't using it, I got maybe two hours of unplugged time before I'd have to charge it again. The specs on this boast 18 hours of battery life before it needs to be recharged. I'm very impressed by the battery life so far.
For the price, this is a fabulous laptop, and I'm glad that I bought it. I'll be buying one for my teenagers for their birthdays.

This Samsung laptop is even better than I expected. I thought with it having a ARM Processor instead of the normal AMD or Intel that there would be compatibility issues with certain programs. So far everything I have wanted to install has had support for ARM hardware including VLC media player. The laptop is well built and feels sturdy in the hand as well as when opening and closing the lid. It's thin and light but has extremely long battery life. 15 plus hours on moderate use. Plenty of ports including two USB-C ports one USB A 2.0 port a micro SD card slot for extra storage, a headphone jack the doubles as a microphone for headsets with built in mic. Samsung did a great job at creating a marvelous piece of technology at an affordable price point highly recommend for students as well as people working from home this is an extremely fast little machine that boots up in an instant has extremely long battery life Great picture on the display and is thinning light and easy to carry. The small thin bezels on the left and right give you optimal viewing experience. The keyboard feels great and has just enough resistance in the keys to type quickly with minimal errors. The touchpad area was really surprising it's extra large and has plenty of space. The machine comes with a dual band Wi-Fi card so you can connect to your 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi channels. Speakers are decent I wouldn't say that's anything to write home about but it's enough to allow you to listen to music and/or TV/Movies as long as you're not in a loud environment. The machine has Bluetooth so you can hook up all of your Bluetooth peripherals whether that be a Bluetooth headset keyboard and mouse whatever the case may be which is probably preferable over the internal speakers. I give this machine a solid 8.5 out of 10. Hope this review helps someone on the fence with this machine.
