I needed a laptop for work but hate having to always look for a plug and wifi to get on so I started asking if anything stays connected or has that capability. They brought up the Surfave Pro X which seemed super cool but I wanted something more traditional. The guy helping me started talking about the Book S and said he had one. I asked to see it but they didn't have it in store so he brought it up on the website. Looked amazing and the stays all worked for me sonI ordered.
Wow! Do you know what it's like to pull your laptop put open it and it's already on and connected?? I no longer have to power down and always have my charger woth me. I was surprised when I saw the charger is the same as my S20+ phone charger too. It can charge the laptop in a little over an hour and I can plug it in my car using my phones charger which is awesome. It runs fast on my apps and the touch screen makes them faster than using the pad. My only real complaint is the track pad buttons are a little odd but I think ita mainly just because I wasnused to my old laptop. Im getting 2-3 days out of this one before I need to recharge. I was lucky to get 2-3 hours from my old laptop. Oh, and you can just add storage with a micro card. Never saw a laptop do that before.
Oh, and its like 2 pounds and t

Display: Super Bright, with outdoor mode, you will not have a problem seeing the display. Its also touch screen so if you're into that stuff there you go.
Power: Pretty fast, can easily take on browsing, work tasks, not 4K Video editing strong, but can do 95% of what a laptop of this price should be able to do.
Battery: Mehhh, lol. It really isnt that bad though, a laptop this thin and small, kind of expected. Although one strong suit is that it uses USB-C so its easy finding chargers to charge this device.
Keyboard: Pretty good considering the thinness, still got some decent travel and its not that hard to type on, its also backlit (but the back light really is just kind of mediocre, really the only thing i can say i sort of dislike, still not that bad though, you can see them at night which is all that matters to me really)
Build Quality: I actually like the build quality. Not a flexable laptop and cold to the touch when youve left it alone for a while.
Portability: Ok so this is where this laptop just shreds man. This laptop is so dang thin, its crazy. its also really small and really light so this thing can easily go into a backpack and you wont even notice its in there. You can also just carry it and really wouldn't be much a difference either.
Integration: This is a fun one. But, the only way you're getting into this category is really if you have other Samsung products, (mainly the flagships). See I say this because I have the S20+, Galaxy Watch S3, and the Galaxy Buds along side this device and jeesh there's just so much integration, more than that of its competitors I would say. Like I can control my music from my phone from my watch and laptop, and control the volume of my buds from either or aswell. I can listen to music from my watch too, and have my buds connected to any three devices. I can charge my buds or watch from my phone and then charge my phone from my laptop while my laptop charges. You can send a text through any three devices then pick up the phone and talk on any three devices. Theres a lot more to talk about but theres just so much id be here for a while.

I absolutely love this laptop! The battery lasts very long! I would charge it at 10 a.m. and it will last until 6 p.m.! The screen is a beautiful 13.3 Full HD so watching YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. is beyond stunning. I am honestly happy I didn't buy a Flex or an Ion. I would 1000% recommend this to my friends

I have had the Samsung Galaxy book S (intel Lakefield) for a few days now, I was sure to run all of the updates, both windows and Samsung, before evaluating the device.
While I don't have time to write a thorough review, I will hot on a few points that I think you may want to know about and the reasons I bought this laptop.
Hardware. Yes, the Galaxy book S is well constructed and is crazy thin and light. The casing feels like a tough plastic, perhaps some form of alloy, but its solid and doesn't flex much. The screen is beautiful as samsungs screens usually are. it gets plenty bright and has an outdoor mode. Samsung does have an outdoor boost that really gets things bright. and the screen is touch which is responsive. While hot a flip back 360 screen, it does fold back about 120 degrees, which is nice. The keys are fairly shallow, but have good response and click and spacing is comfortable and its easy to type on. The keyboard lights are a green tint and only come on if darkness is sensed in the room (but this can be changed in user settings). Oh, the 1 megapixel webcam is not the best... this should be at least a 2 megapixel. microphone and speakers are adequate.
Software/Speed. So, I chose this over the snapdragon version because you can run all windows programs with it being an x86 machine. If you read up on the early Intel Lakefield performance tests, you'll read they are mostly less than stellar. Some even compare the performance of this chip to a three year old amber lake chip by intel. One author suggests that something is amiss and perhaps the chip needs some firmware updates to perform better. I can tell you that from my experience, I sure hope this is the case. The Galaxy Book S is slow to load, there's no other way to describe it. Is it unbearable, no, but just long enough for me to wonder why my new $1K samsung laptop loads slower than my $600 Asus zenbook. The power button doubles as a fingerprint reader and registers about 7 out of 10 times I use it. overall, there haven't been too many hiccups with the system operation, except for one tie the laptop did not want to wake from sleep mode and i had to do a hard power cycle.
Battery. This is the reason I bought this laptop. I knew the intel chip would perform mediocre, but ohh that 17 hours of advertised battery life... almost two days of full work before needing a charge!! Well, nope.... not even close. Using the Galaxy book S doing basic web browsing and microsoft office tasks with the screen at about 40% brightness (200nits), I am maybe getting about 8 - 9 hours of battery life before needing to plug in the the laptop. Which, for a device clearly aimed at tackling battery life and portability - it falls short on the battery life by quite a bit. Also, its no the fastest to charge with the small 25w phone looking charger that comes with the device.
So, ultimately the Galaxy Book S very much accomplishes the portability goal with its slim, light, yet sturdy form factor.... but it falls short on performance and WAY SHORT on battery life. Hence, I will likely return this device and keep my Asus Zenbook.
