I used to have the Fitbit One & used apps on my phone to track my running /training. After losing the fitbit I did a lot of research & this was my best option for what I needed. It isn't too big (I was concerned because I have small wrists), and can be worn with dressy or casual outfits (some of the sports GPS watches I wouldn't be able to)... It tracks GPS even without my phone's GPS being on. I love being able to see texts or who is calling without taking out my phone & to send quick responses back from the Gear Fit. I tested the HR capabilities of it by wearing my chest strap that detects apical pulse & the watch on one wrist and the Gear Fit on the other, and the heart rate was almost spot on. The gear fit gave the same # a few seconds after the chest strap but that is to be expected since it is reading your pulse peripherally and not directly over your heart. The only thing that I don't like as well as the old school fitbit one is that I don't feel that it tracks my steps as well as a pedometer worn on your hip (Idon't always swing my arms with my steps - for example if I'm pushing a lawnmower or shopping cart or if I"m carrying something- but that's not a problem for when I'm running). Overall, I feel like I chose the best product out there for my needs!

Part Fitness Tracker, Part Smart Watch!

I love my Gear Fit! My main exercise is walking, so it works great for tracking that, I take a medicine that affects my heart rate, so I like that I can use this to check it anytime.
I also love that it has some cool smart watch features like the ability to read texts, see who's calling and reject the call with a brief preset message, check the time and temperature, locate my phone, and get other notifications. The silent alarm is nice, just wish it worked independently of the phone.
I also like that I can customize the look with different bands and changing the background on the screen or the clock face, and that I can set the display to vertical.
The safety feature is cool. Thankfully I haven't HAD to use it, but when I tested it, it worked flawlessly, notifying my selected contacts that I needed help and providing a link to google maps showing my location.
Battery life is good and the screen is bright and easy to read in almost all lighting conditions. Bright sunlight makes it a little more difficult, but not impossible.
The only reasons I didn't give this 5 stars are as follows:
The aforementioned lack of an alarm that works independently of the phone.
I don't care for the design of the band closure being two pegs that go into holes. It seems fairly secure under most conditions, but I HAVE at times bumped the strap on something while moving and had 1 of the 2 prongs pop out of the hole. I bought some aftermarket clasp keepers to help secure my investment so it hasn't ever actually fallen off, but a typical watch buckle closure would be a definite improvement.
The charging cradle is a bit difficult to clip onto the device.
I'd like to see more than one watch face option that includes the weather.
Samsung should offer more bands to customize this product, although if they do, I'd hope they'd give them the watch buckle I mentioned before.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase!

Purchased the Fit based on the compatibility with my Samsung Galaxy 5 Active. Happy with Battery life, function of the heart rate monitor, the pedometer, notification function, media control and sleep monitor. Wish there were more options for “exercise” but I understand the function is based on the pedometer and the S Health App since the only options there are run/walk/cycle/hike. This isn’t about S Health so back to the Fit. I like the look and have received lots of compliments and I like that you can change the appearance and even use a photo as your screen. Now the issues, you have to get a screen protector and FAST, not a big deal but don’t be cheap you will scratch the heck out of it pretty quick. The connector/latch device is not enough for me to feel safe I just knew this was going to fall off my wrist and there are really no accessories at BB so I used amazon and bought some silicon bands to secure the strap (I ordered the screen protector and another watch band because lets be real the boring black one gets old). I really wish there was an additional clip devise so I could attach to my show, pocket for those days you don’t want to wear a bulky watch. Overall I am happy with the product.

I was enjoying this product for the first month. Then it had a rebooting problem. It resolved when I turned it off and left it off for an hour and then turned it on. I have the problem again and have turned it off and on 3 times and it still won't start. My cellphone says it is not Connected. I'm looking for some help on the Internet. I can't recommend it at this time.

I got the Gear Fit so I could keep track of how much I run while reffing soccer games. It has been extremely useful while I'm out on the pitch. I use it daily and really enjoy keeping track of my steps/fitness. MUST have S Health to get full use of the watch.
Pros:
Keeps track of heart rate
Top speed (S Health)
Average pace (S Health) & others, just to long to list!!
Total steps, even if you choose an exercise.
Sleep monitor
Help to find your device
Customization
Great battery time.
Receive texts
Cons:
Learning to use in the beginning. Make sure to change your "Screen Timeout" before starting.
Bluetooth is good, but can effect the routine your currently in if it loses connection.

This is a good product. This great for those that want to be proactive about their health with a minimal investment in a wearable monitoring device. I bought this for my wife to ease her into being mindful of activity. As I bought a Gear S for myself. She enjoys this because it keeps her up to date on her steps, water consumption, emails ect. She also enjoys the ability to change the screen to something that matches to what she is wearing.

Pros- the gear looks great, I can upload my own back ground image(s)
- I get compliments every time I wear it. It is a Samsung product. The screen is large enough to actually see/read at my age 47.
Cons-(get ready)
the 'step' counter is very inaccurate. Count 20 and it records 50, count 200, it records 600, etc.
Any App that you try to utilize, bike, run, walk, or otherwise has to be input manually, both to start and to stop.
The auto-movement indicator to check time when you bend your arm works about 10% of the time. (no pun intended)
The VERY worst functioning APP is the 'sleep' app. even when it is in the 'do not disturb mode' the light will come on and it will vibrate in the middle of the night, basically disturbing your sleep pattern.
The battery has a short lifespan, if you DO NOT carry the adapter w/you or have a spare, when you are out of juice.... too bad...
Finally, the Apps that are supposed to work along side or in the background (I have a a Samsung note 4) have a lot of hick-ups, so it never really functions at 100% capacity.
A very disappointing and hard to write review; I am an avid Samsung fan, and previously a Samsung employee......

Durable accurate fitness watch. Pairs perfectly with my Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. I would highly encourage spending the extra $20 for a good screen protector, it's worth every penny as it has preserved the cosmetic appearance from dings and scratches.

Bought it on Black Friday for about half price. Works OK but seems like it is made out of cheap materials...within a couple weeks the chrome colored ring around the face had several black areas where the chrome had flaked off. Also wish it would keep track of flights of stairs

The Gear Fit by Samsung has really got some bad reviews out there on the Interwebs.
I actually disagree with most of them. The Gear Fit tries to be a smartwatch and a fitness band – I get it. And it actually does both rather well.
Design
The Gear Fit features a beautiful, curved screen that has been described as bulky, but it fits on the wrist quite well in my experience. There’s never been anything like this on the smartwatch, or gadget market in general. The forward facing design is not only fantastic, a joy to use, but the bands can easily be changed to suit your style of dress. It features a heart rate monitor and a mostly accurate pedometer. The Gear Fit will track your steps, sleep, and exercises. It will also track and “coach” you as you run, cycle, or walk. During these activities, your heart rate can be monitored in real time and the Fit will tell you when to speed up based upon your rate.
Features
Heart rate monitor
Pedometer
Exercise tracking with coaching
Sleep tracker
Battery Life
I have seen other reviewers only claim to get 2 days of battery life out of the Fit. I’ve worn it for two weeks and consider myself an active social media user who is rarely without their phone. I usually get 3-4 days out of a single charge depending on the amount of notifications I get, and how I have it set.
Sleep Tracking
I love sleep tracking in fitness bands. I’m not sure why but I just like having that metric available to me. The Gear Fit does this, but at a basic level. And the data it collects stays on the device. As stated, it performs basic sleep monitoring offering a percentage of sleep versus percentage of time motionless. You can also view your sleep history on the device itself.
Heart Rate Monitor
This is a feature also available on the Galaxy S5, which I own as well. The monitor uses a green laser at your wrist to measure your heart rate. I was able to compare it to a dedicated heart rate monitor, and the Fit was astoundingly always accurate, a bit more, than the monitor on the S5.
Coaching/Exercise
Earlier, I mentioned the exercise coaching aspect. In my experience, the Fit always told me to increase my pace, even when tracking my walking. I can see where it would provide motivation but I haven’t had enough time to fully test it out.
Wearables are the future, and they’re coming. The Gear Fit by Samsung is a stylish, slick looking device.
The reason for the good rating is after 25 days, a firmware update (automatically performed by the Gear Fit) caused the Gear Fit to go into a perpetual reboot mode with no means to power the device off other than letting the battery run out. Had the Samsung kiosk crew at the local Best Buy who were unable to figure out the problem. They immediately issued a new replacement and a sincere apology for problem. While my firmware issue seemed to be unique, it's still concerning that a software update could 'brick' the device. It's been 3 weeks since the replacement and so far, no issues whatsoever.

I purchased a new Samsung Note in November. In December, I got "zapped" while on vacation in San Francisco and walking Alcatraz. My phone vibrated, so I checked it. I was informed that I walked my goal of 6,000 steps that day. Huh. I didn't load that app, but that was kinda neat.
I looked into the S Health app a little more. Really neat. I found myself motivated - even while on vacation to meet these steps. I knew years ago that if you walk 10,000 steps a day, you can lose a pound each week (with a decent diet, too - not a free for all with calories). After a few weeks, I found it a drag to keep my phone in a holster on me, so I started to look at fitness watches (Fitbit, etc.). Although the Samsung Gearfit doesn't sync with MyFitnessPal, which is the diet app I use, I thought it was cool that it does sync with your Samsung phone. It's so cool to be upstairs, away from your phone and still be able to see who's calling or texting you. Your wrist vibrates and you can actually read the text.
It can take your pulse, monitor your sleep, but most importantly, track your steps and calories burnt. In over a month and a half, I've only missed my goal two days, and I really felt bad. I haven't really cut my calories, and I've already lost 11 pounds.
The Samsung Gearfit was the choice for me because I like the sleek look and how it interacts with my phone. It was also reasonably priced. I wasn't about to spend over $200 for something I wasn't sure I'd like. I actually purchased two. One was full price and the other almost half because it was returned (probably an unwanted Xmas gift). I purchased warranties for both because I wasn't sure how much abuse they would receive. They hold up well.
There are some additional apps you can get for free to enhance your Gearfit, but I haven't used any of them. I'm really pleased as it is. Of course, it'd be great to be able to answer a call or respond to a text, but it's still great as is.
I'd recommend it.

The Samsung Gear Fit is a really good product for those who want a fitness tracking device with a little more than a Fitbit in the $100-$120 range. The features that it provides is more than enough for me in the smart watch world. I am able to view text messages, e-mails, notifications from various apps, and see who is calling me (with the ability to reject the call or reject with a quick reply message). The display is very crisp and I like the fact that you can change the background picture and the orientation of the clock interface to vertical or horizontal. Sure its not an Apple Watch but if you want another smartphone on your wrist then purchase one of those. This watch is good for active people and I like that when I am at work (where I can't have my phone on me) I can still see if someone tries to get in touch with me or if there is an emergency that I need to get to my phone quickly. Being a fitness minded person I like the fact that it tracks my steps and gives me an approximation of how many calories that I have burned that day while walking or running/biking. Another selling point is that it has a stopwatch built in and a timer that is good when I want to set a certain rest period between lifts and start my next set. One of the only cons that I have found with this device is that the heart rate monitor can be a little fiddly sometimes when getting a measurement because you have to be calm and still so when you are in the middle of doing cardio you have to stop and take the measurement. Other than that it is a great product and I really enjoy wearing it every day to keep me notified and multitask in a gym setting.

I love the Samsung Gear Fit as a watch. As a pedometer it works fairly well. I will note that it does record steps I don't take but overall it motivates me to move more. You can receive texts, emails and set it up to receive notifications from other apps. It records your sleep. I love all the customizable features for the screens and settings. It does have some small glitches, but overall I love it and would recommend it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, so this was the next logical step. Syncs great and do not have problems connecting. I replaced my Up after it just stopped working. I did not like having to sync it all the time to see how many steps I had covered, so decided to return it and get the Fit. My only complaints so far is that the pedometer step count seems to be a little lower than it should be, and the battery lasts only about 2.5 days or so. I love the fact I can see my messages and emails on my wrist. I can also leave my phone in the other room and it will notify you if it is ringing. I highly recommend this little guy. For the price it does a lot.

I like the fitness tracking, similar to the Fit Bit but more. The notifications with email, texts, phone calls and calendar reminders are nice to also have. The tracking of your sleep and heart rate is nice. The pairing to the S5 is great. The trending is nice to see your progress. Would be great if it had auto sleep mode. Until than, manual updating of steps, sleep start adjustment, heart rate while jogging and running would be beneficial. Still a nice blend of technology and fitness for the money when on sale.
