Customers are saying

Customers commend the Harmon Kardon Soundbar System for its exceptional sound quality, easy setup, and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos technology. The wireless rear speakers and subwoofer are also highly praised for their convenience. However, some users have expressed concerns about the system's high price, occasional connectivity issues, the limited audibility of the rear speakers, and the automatic power-off feature that turns the system off after only five minutes of inactivity.

Best soundbar combo you can buy

This is the best soundbar speaker combo you can buy. You get a true Dolby atmos experience with great surround sound out of the two rear speakers. At first I had just the soundbar which was amazing but bestbuy was kind enough to let me return that and upgrade to this model with rear speakers and still everytime I watch a movie I’m blown away. Even when playing Spider-Man on my ps4pro the surround that these speakers produce really just brings that game and all other surround sound games to life. You will not regret this purchase period.

Not sure I would buy the retail price, I picked it up for $1000 open box. This sits in my LR for my main tv. House was originally wired for receiver and separate individual speakers. When I priced it out as such, would have been a lot more money. I can tell you that this system sounds amazing. easy to set up, great remote, using ARC HDMI and optical connections is obviously the best. I think this system is amazing. movies and sports sound great. I would buy over and over again if needed. 5 star recommendation from me.

If you are reading this to try and decide if this is the Sound Bar for you, then finish reading this review and then close your computer and go to Best Buy right now and BUY THIS. I bought the Sony - 7.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos - Black and hooked it up and listened for about 5 minutes and boxed it back up and took it back. NO WHERE NEAR WORTH THE PRICE. I should have just purchased this one but of course I thought I could save a few hundred bucks. Spend the extra money and save yourself the hassle. This sound bar set up is by far the best I have ever had and the best that I have ever heard. VERY VERY VERY LOUD. There is ZERO distortion at high levels (and believe me I pushed it to the limits), in fact I didnt even make it to max volume because it was just to loud. The Base is incredible at all levels as well. This will have you turning around at certain parts of a movie because you thought something was behind you. Your friends and family will be amazed. There is only one negative thing that I would say about this sound bar and that is that it will shut off automatically after about 5 min. Automatic shut off is a great feature but it should be at 20-30 min. I can PROMISE you that you will not be disappointed in this sound bar and will probably be the last one you have to buy.

First off this sound bar is not worth $1700. It is worth the $750. that I paid as an open box. The biggest issue with this bar is that you do not have enough control over the volume for the bass and especially the rear surround speakers. This bar shines when playing movies in HDR and Atmos. It shines when you play music through bluetooth. It really does a great job at the aforementioned which is why I kept mine. The not so good is when watching regular TV(i have Fios) it is just okay... there is a drop off in sound quality and you just don't have the options to adjust to your liking all the time. That being said I do understand the drop off in quality is do to the broadcasting stations but for $1700. At least give me enough control over bass and treble and my rears to put up a good fight at tuning to my liking. Finally this bar when playing quality content sounds incredible and it gets loud... I just wish it sounded so good at all times!

    Immersive Audio...at a Price

I am into home theater. I listen to home theater-related podcasts and browse the related internet forums. I read and watch reviews related to the hobby. I don't really have a home theater, per se. I simply turned a spared bedroom into my man cave. That said, I wanted a good sound system to pair with my LG B7 OLED, which brings a great 4K HDR experience to the home. Previously, I had a Vizio 5.1 sound bar. It did a good job, but the rear speakers rarely seemed to come alive. I often wondered if my system was set up correctly. I had been looking at Atmos systems for a while, but they were all expensive. The Samsung HW-N950 falls into that category, as well. Even with the sale price knocking a couple hundred bucks off of it, and having a coupon, it was over a grand. My Vizio was a fourth of what I paid for the Samsung. The Samsung is a larger unit, for sure. From the sound bar itself, which is over 48" long, to the subwoofer and the surrounds, every speaker is larger than my Vizio. I also like the design of the Samsung, although, the Vizio was nice, too. So, it really came down to performance. The Samsung performs well. Quite well. The immersive audio experience trumps 5.1. Hands down! While I don't often hear sounds above me, the audio is immersive in that it fills the room and there is some height to it. The audio just blends together well. My room is something like 11'x13' with 8' ceilings. It is a joy to watch films at home with this sound bar. Professional reviews sold me on this sound bar, to be honest. The well-known sites had praised it, with one reviewer exclaiming he was selling his receiver and separates to get the Samsung for its high quality and simplicity in set up and use. Some may say that is extreme, and it really depends on your needs. Would I put this into a dedicated home theater? Probably not. But then, I don't have one and probably never will either. So, this works for me. And I don't need to spend hours running cables and futzing with ceiling speakers and the whole bit. So, I would recommend the sound bar. As of this writing, it is the only 7.1.4 Atmos sound bar out there. It is in a class all its own. And if you were to buy separates and a receiver, you'd be out a good chunk of change. Heck, even a receiver can be $300-$500 on the low end. You could spend on a receiver, or a sub, or a single speaker more than the cost of the Samsung. So, when you look at it that way, the price isn't so bad. That is how I looked at it. I figured I was going to spend more money to buy everything I would need to replicate this with separates, and I would need to run wires all over the room and argue with the spouse over aesthetics and getting speakers on the ceiling. So, this was a great option for me, and the spouse even approved.

Previously owned the HW-K950 5.1.4 system from 2016. Stepped up and got this model. Which, to me, they just slapped some side firing speakers onto to the end of the sound bar, put Harmon Kardon on it, and shipped it. Don't get me wrong, they're still one of the best sounding ones out there. Having more problems with this latest model than the K950. Still have the sound/subwoofer drop out frequently maybe 2-3 times a movie. Also is seem like I get the sound of busted speakers often then it goes away only to return again. I don't know if it's bad reception between wireless speakers or what. It just irritating. It's to the point now where my wife thinks it's time to upgrade, which she doesn't know I already have lol. But when this system hitting on all cylinders, the sound is top notch and clear and crisp. This is why I'm torn on returning it not!!

Best Soundbar in the Market - Love it

I absolutely love this soundbar. Sound is loud and clear. Rear speaker s are a big plus. I had to return the Sony ST5000 due to the fact that it lacked rear speakers for such an expense system. Sound is very comparable between the two. Sub-woofer may be a bit better on the Sony, but the Samsung does a pretty good job as well. I am very happy that I was able to exchange it and I am loving it. Not sure why some people have some bad things to say. It is pricey, I cannot deny it. But it is simply the best soundbar you can get at this time with Atmos and rear speakers.

I work in the professional Audio/Video business, so I want the best when it comes to my home theater system. I was looking for an ATMOS soundbar to do justice to the LG 65" OLED TV that forms the video centerpiece of my theater system. I knew that the Samsung/Harman-Kardon HW-N950 would provide the immersive sound experience that would complement the incredibly detailed 4K HDR video produced by the OLED television. The result is truly greater than the sum of its parts. The HW-N950 lives-up to all the glowing reviews, and is worth every penny of the $1700 price. The ATMOS sound field produced by this soundbar is nothing short of amazing. When playing Blu-ray movies with ATMOS sound , you feel like you are in the middle of the action. Dobly ATMOS demos streamed from YouTube are mind-blowing, even though the sound channel is compressed by YouTube to stream over the internet, and further bandwidth limited because it must get to the soundbar via the 18 Gbps ARC HDMI 2.0 connection from the television. LG implemented eARC HDMI 2.1 in its 2019 OLED line, but Samsung must follow suit at it's end of the cable to reach the 48 Gbps bandwidth that eARC is capable of achieving. But, in this era of fast-moving technological advances, I don't think there is any way to future-proof a home entertainment system investment... you just have to pull the trigger at some point, and I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoy my system, and for me the experience is every bit as great as going to see a movie on the big screen at the best-equipped cinemas. The sales experience at Best Buy was effortless; I made the purchase at one store, and had the soundbar shipped to a different store that was closer to my home for pickup. Even though I picked up the item on the day after Christmas, with the gift return rush in full swing, I was assisted immediately and was transporting my new soundbar home within 15 minutes of arriving at the store service desk. Totally satisfied with Best Buy and my Samsung sound bar.

So far so good, it's simple to put everything together. Sound is great. Playing with the PS4 or watching 4K movies full blast letting my neighbors know what I'm watching is awesome. But been have trouble keeping the rear speakers connected when I go surround sound. I have to keep manually resting it. My only pain

I bought this soundbar to pair up with my Xbox because it features Dolby Atmos. I read several reviews that gave it good to glowing reviews. It's a solid soundbar and surprisingly heavy. The wireless subwoofer allows for placement anywhere you can fit it; small but potent. The only problem with the rears was finding speaker stands that could accommodate them. The Sanus Euro series EFSAT-B1 worked because I attached the speakers to the opposite side of their L shaped "T" bracket and positioned the triangular shaped based with one corner underneath the speaker to counter balance the weight of the speakers. Worked perfectly. After getting the subwoofer and the rears connected, I connected the Xbox to the HDMI in and HDMI ARC out to the tv. I went into the Xbox setup and verify that the Dolby Atmos would work. I played a video short for Warhammer and was blown away by the surround sound. Wow! It was definitely worth it despite some initial problems. Dolby Atmos brings a whole new dimension to game play.

I didn't think there would be much difference between Samsung's K-950 and the newer N-950. Boy, was I wrong. Samsung has hit a major home-run with its latest offering in the home theater sound system market. With full 7.1.4 sound, capable of both Dolby Atmos and DTSX, Samsung has gone the full route with full 4K HDR AND Dolby Vision pass-thru. Yes, it does both. Oddly, Samsung is still hung-up about uttering the term Dolby Vision, even refusing to name it directly on its box, an absence which even confused the store salesman. I had to buy the system to get the answer. This is a BIG marketing mistake from Samsung, which prefers to promote its full HDR capability and it's own brand HDR10 and HDR10+ formats (both outstanding) , leaving it to the consumer to guess. Well, by this review, you need guess no more: it passes both video formats. The sound from this rather expensive, but well-worth it system, is full-bodied and crisp. I set it up from the box and haven't made a single adjustment. However, it still lacks a meaningful adjustment for the center channel. This is a BIG mistake. Look, for almost $2,000 this great system can be even better if Samsung will only listen to its consumers and give extra oomph via a firmware update. Its base is also a little heavy and needs more latitude to lower its heavy tone. And, oh yeah, I wish Samsung kept its blue confirmation light that notified the listener when Dolby Atmos is playing. Instead you have to really strain to see that the feature is on via a tiny digital message. Nevertheless, this sound system with rear speakers and side-firing speakers is well worth the price. Its sound is spectacular and its ease of operation make this sound system the perfect and only sound solution you will need for a theater quality experience. I love it. I recommend it.

My review is fairly straightforward.. I think the sound is quite good, but it is still a sound bar. The satellite speakers really enhance the depth and subwoofer gets plenty deep. It’s a little expensive for what it is, but it does the job well if your space is limited.

I had the previous model (HK950) and it worked great for about 8 months. The Dolby Atmos sound was amazing, especially with the rear speakers that created the fully immersive Atmos effect. Unfortunately after 8 months, the soundbar stopped picking up my TV (2017 LG OLED B7) through the ARC connection and kept showing the message D.IN instead of ARC. I spent hours on the phone with Samsung Support and sent the soundbar back to Samsung on three separate occasions over a 3-month period before Samsung determined they couldn't fix it and offered me a full refund, which I appreciate. With a full refund in hand, I set out to get a new Atmos soundbar and went with the N-950 because of the rear speaker setup, figuring Samsung would have fixed the bugs with the previous model. I brought it home and set it up, and everything was great. The soundbar even allowed Atmos over ARC for the TV Apps, which the previous model did not allow. I put in a DVD directly connected to the HDMI port of the soundbar to test the Atmos sound and it was amazing. But then as I tried to switch back to the ARC input, I got the dreaded D.IN instead of ARC again. In addition, I could not connect the soundbar to the internet through the Smartthings App. The setup would stop every time at 39%. I looked online and apparently these were common issues other users are having with the N950, just like with the HK950. I couldn't bear the thought of sitting on the phone for hours again with Samsung Support for the same ARC issue, so I took the soundbar straight back to Best Buy that evening. Didn't even last one day. Come on Samsung, this is unacceptable. I own several Samsung products, and your brand has definitely been downgraded in my book. Especially for AV equipment. So warning, like the previous model, this soundbar is full of issues. If you can get it to work, you will get amazing sound, probably the best from any soundbar. Side note, it occurred to me that the issue might be the ARC connection from my TV, but I subsequently purchased the LG SK9Y, and have not had any issues with the ARC connection. Maybe it's a matching brand thing.

We where tired of our TV speaker. So did research & decided on this Samsung system. The installation was quick & easy. I purchased this to replace an older 7.1 Surround Sound system from Sony (receiver and all, although I only had 5.1 speakers). This system was a snap to set up - just follow the instructions and it worked like a charm. Well, almost. I had some difficulty with my Samsung TV and Samsung DVD player and their Anynet+ system, where I couldn't get the sound bar to use input from my Apple TV. But I just turned Anynet+ off and it works like a charm. The sound is great! I can really hear the 7.1.4 channel sound from all directions. I wish they had some sort of test sound (Dolby digital used to have something similar for surround sound) to highlight the different channels, but movies and TV shows sound great. The wireless connections are a breeze, and not having nearly as many wires is wonderful. Overall, I strongly recommend.

I thought I would be more impressed with this soundbar than I ended up. I just felt with a 7.1 sound bar, the sound would be better. The soundbar is better than other soundbars I have owned or listened to, but I guess a Soundbar is just that a Soundbar. Rear speakers are almost never heard. It's a bit overpriced for what you get. I have owned this system for about 1 month and set up is not that easy, especially since the display is so small.
