The Samsung Q600A 3.1.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar is a nice entry-level toe dip into the Dolby Atmos/DTS:X world. It's slim profile means that it's unobtrusive on your TV stand, but it does pack a punch! I hooked it up to a 40" Samsung TV, and plugged an Amazon FireTV stick DIRECTLY into the soundbar. *Heads up: I've found from experience that if you plug the FireTV stick into the TV and then route it through the soundbar, the Samsung soundbar has trouble passing the bass through. By plugging the FireTV stick directly into the soundbar, you get all of the audio passed through the system for a nice deep bass presence. For bass, this smaller Q600A is no exception, it has a nice punchy bass from the subwoofer, clear center channel audio and of course left and right channels to fill out the sound. To add that extra dimension and the Dolby Atmos sound, there are two top firing speakers as well, that project the sound up and bounce it off the ceiling to envelope you in sound. While not as accurate as a traditional 5.1.2 dedicated surround system with rear speakers, the Q600A does a good job of augmenting the sound and 'throwing it' around the room, so you get to feel like you are part of the action. Something that Samsung has updated with this soundbar is moving the display to the front edge of the soundbar (in this instance, the right hand side), so you can actually see it when you are sat down watching TV. Previously it could be found on top of the soundbar and was pretty much unusable. Nice to know they've listened to feedback on this one. The soundbar itself is sturdy, with a solid grill on the front instead of a material one (which I much prefer). Set up was simple, along with minimal instructions from Samsung. Plug in the soundbar, plug in the subwoofer, they pair together, or you can actually go and pair them manually. Plug it into your TV and power on. I played 'Lost in Space' on Netflix, which has a Dolby Atmos soundtrack to test out the soundbar. The ambient sounds were fantastic, buzzing around your head, really expanding the stage of the show. Action felt like it came from further to the left or right that what you saw on screen, which also heightens the watching experience. With 2 HDMI inputs, Adaptive Sound, and Game Pro mode, the Samsung Q600A is a nice all round entry-level foray into the Dolby Atmos/DTS:X home theater experience, if you don't have the space for a dedicated surround sound system. Add to that the proprietary 'Samsung Q-Symphony' system to utilize the TV's speakers as part of the surround sound experience, you expand the experience. Bluetooth connectivity to enable your to stream music to the system is simple to set up and use with control over the soundbar. Cons: The remote is a little touchy, I'm not a fan of the toggle switches for the volume etc, you can end up muting the system more than you want when adjusting the volume. And the subwoofer, while it packs a decent punch, the design of it feels like an after thought and to a budget. The case is vinyl wrapped MDF with a cloth grill cover on it. But, with the subwoofer, you do kind of 'set it and forget it' behind the sofa or in the corner, so it's not a deal breaker. Overall, I'm happy with the soundbar and I'm using it to fill out the sound in my garage, to stream live concerts to a TV I have out there. This Q600A definitely fills the space, I've been using it out there for over a month now with great results. I've even had neighbors come up and ask about the system I'm using!

Nice choice of Sound setup and easy choices with just a push of a button on the remote. The sound bar was a easy setup with fiber optics. It compliments the looks of our TV, and the use of the TV remote to adjust the volume is an added plus.

Things I am looking at on the Samsung - HW-Q600A is good dialogue (voice sound from TV & movies) since my prior soundbar was lagging in that department. Also, to check how good Dolby Atmos 3D sound actually is and to see if the soundbar has additional features that benefit you like easy connection to phone for music for example. Setup with HDMI ARC was easy with TV CEC detecting the soundbar right away and sub-woofer connecting via Bluetooth automatically when turned on, was impressed by this because my prior 2019 soundbar was a pain to setup. Other ways you can connect is with Optical port and Bluetooth, but you cannot connect TV via Wi-Fi for sound like it states on Best Buy overview. Based on past experience with soundbars and other electronics, the first thing I checked was to see if there were any software updates and indeed there are two firmware updates: VER 0071(DSP) & VER 1001.1(SOC) https://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/?model=N0021435 Updates must be done separately ether with two different UBB drives or one at a time on same USB drive, upgrade instructions are available when you select the see more button next to firmware on the website and select UPGRADE GUIDE VER 1.0 to download. Unfortunately, there is no info on what is fixed on the website. The update process was simple and the display on soundbar shows its progress. Design-wise the soundbar is low profile in height and has a sleek modern look that overall has a much smaller footprint than the majority of soundbars. Product height is 2.3 inches and length 38.6 inches. It has a little display on the right-hand side that shows sound modes, volume level and other information---this really comes in handy and is a nice feature. Ports you get an Optical Audio In, HDMI ARC, HDMI In and USB. Sound is fantastic as I used the Adaptive Sound preset which enhances dialogue to make it clear to hear. (In other words) I do not have to turn up the volume when people talk low or whisper in movies like I did before and music, sound effects no longer drown out voices in shows. You can also level the volume by holding the SOUND MODE button when the bar is turned off to activate the auto-volume mode, which helps balance the volume level between live TV and native streaming apps, before I had to increase the volume for HBO Max and decrease it for Amazon. This alone is worth the price of admission in my opinion as I got tired of always adjusting volume for different programs. Volume on 25 is loud enough for me and this device can get loud, the max I tried was 35 because anything higher may disturb the neighbors. This soundbar has excellent dynamite highs and lows in sound; movies that have Dolby Atmos are even better with a total immersive experience, in fact I wish I got the one with additional surround sound speakers to truly get that 3D effect. Connecting via Bluetooth mode to phone (or other devices) was easy as well but the soundbar volume is only controlled manually with buttons on soundbar. Alternatively, if you have a Samsung device you can download the SmartThings app (enable the Smart Tap feature) and simply tap the soundbar to connect and play music. You can also play audio files via the USB port. Dolby Atmos sound is definitely better than my soundbar older Dolby system with better sound separations, good balance between voices and background noise (music, sound effects) for a crisp and clearer experience in sound. This soundbar provides a fuller sound experience.

This is a quality soundbar especially if you have a newer model Samsung TV. It was very easy to install and setup. There are some complaints about the bass level from the subwoofer in reviews, however I only found this to be noticeable in a very large room without great acoustics.

The HW-Q600A/ZA 3.1.2 Soundbar with Subwoofer is a very easy-to-use audio solution for those that are looking for an easy-to-use, minimalistic, wire-free approach to a surround sound system. Obviously there are many offerings for this setup at this price range, but let me give reasons why this might end up next to your TV. Wireless Subwoofer - A wireless sub simplifies placement within your home theater, provided there is a power outlet nearby. I had no issues with wireless connectivity. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X supported - This unit supports both audio formats whereas some other units outside the Samsung brand only support one or the other. This is a strong point for handling various content. Dolby Atmos Speakers - For the uninitiated, Dolby Atmos is provided through drivers that fire up at the ceiling to bounce back down. This gives the impression of sounds coming above/behind you. Simple Audio Adjustments - Choose between Adaptive, Standard, Surround and Gaming. For micro adjustments, you can change the Treble, Center, Top and Subwoofer levels. Q-Symphony (Samsung TVs only) - Allows sound to output from the Samsung TV alongside the soundbar. Non-Samsung TVs only output sound through the soundbar. Versatile connectivity - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI (ARC) I think the HW-Q600A/ZA model works best for those that are looking to simply step up their sound from the base TV speakers or looking to try Atmos sound for the first time without breaking the bank. The Atmos was surprisingly good; there is a scene in John Wick 3 where a fight breaks out with a whole bunch of knives being thrown. With the camera angle positioned behind John, a knife is thrown at him and flies past his ear, then finally sticks to a cabinet behind him. The Atmos had me believing that the knife flew past my own ear and finally stuck to my own furniture! The subwoofer is on the small side, so don’t expect to have ground-shaking bass, but it does fill in the lower frequencies just fine. Overall, the sound is very decent and speakers can be fine tuned for your listening preferences. When listening in the Adaptive sound setting, I found that it was constantly toggling between modes, like somebody was always changing the volume. When watching a sports broadcast, I noticed that the software attenuated the commentator and brought more of the crowd cheers front and center. Then it would switch to something else during commercial break that would allow me to easily hear the product pitch to America. I would prefer that be swapped, to be honest. I now leave it on Standard for most TV/streaming broadcasts; when Atmos/DTS:X is detected, then it will automatically switch to that audio format. I anticipate software updates in the future. The build quality is very good; the metal grille spans the entire front and top for a seamless look. There is a small display on the right side that is hidden behind the grill and only appears when changing volume or settings so it doesn’t disturb the ambiance. The unit registers fine with remote control inputs as well.

Not much to say about this product, amazing sound quality with super cool features. The sound quality was absolutely amazing when set to the surround sound mode, I felt like I had a 3 or 5 channel speaker setup. The subwoofer you get with the speaker takes the audio experience to the next level. The size was just perfect to put on top of my tv stand, and it is very ideal for high-performance computing systems. Althought I had to adjust the subwoofer a bit in order to really feel the bass in movies (I had to put the subwoofer volume at +3) it still was an amazing audio experience right out of the box. I was easily able to connect it to my TV and utilize the wifi and hdmi connectivity as I connected my laptops and my TV to it. I primarily used this soundbar with my TV and connected it to my phone to listen to music and it just works flawlessly. This is a must-buy soundbar for anyone in the market for one.

The Samsung Q600A soundbar is small, thin but clear and powerful. The Soundbar arrived in a big box that was damaged but inside of that one it was the box with the soundbar and it came complete and without any damage. The subwoofer out the box has a nice finish with cloth on the front that covers the sub and the back there is only cable as input: that cable is the power cord. The subwoofer is wireless so no cables to run from here. I placed mine near the corner since this gives the most bass. The remote is slim, comes with batteries and has a nice matt finish so it looks cool, the surface is smooth and the volume button stands out to easily change without looking at the remote. It also comes with instructions that are easy to understand and it also comes with the wall mount brackets, one HDMI cable. As for the Soundbar, out the box I like how it looks, it has a front grill and top as well so it covers and protects the speakers. I turned on the soundbar by itself to know how clear the sound was and it is very. The soundbar has 8 speakers and you can tell right away because the sound comes from all over the room, the last speaker is the subwoofer so in total there are 9 speakers and with 360 watts, it is more than enough. The Bluetooth setup is just like any other and even better with the simply tap and play. With multi connection, at gatherings the speaker becomes part of the party. And with the HDMI arc cable there is no need for different remotes all the time, the soundbar is controlled with the TV. Lastly it is easy to use the USB to listen to music stored away, I have plenty of music on my external drive so just plug and play. The sound on the soundbar is clear and powerful, switching between the different modes we can tell the difference, both the Q Symphony and the Acoustic Beam Technology are superb making this soundbar top of the line and of good value. I think we will get the additional surround speakers sold separately. Overall the soundbar sounds great, it is sturdy and clean.
