Great vac, small hiccup with map

I had my eye on the Neato D9, but everyone kept mentioning how buggy it is. I have an older Neato that's just plumbed tired, not a Smart vac, but served well for years. Since I have multiple Samsung products at home, figured I'd give this one a chance. I don't regret it. It arrived discharged so, after a good 3 hours to fully charge, I let it loose. It mapped the house fairly well, although it didn't identify a couple rooms as actual "rooms", as you can see in the picture, and there's no way to manually identify them as rooms. I'll do a re-run of the mapping cycle, maybe it will fix that. It cleaned really well and is quiet. I'm hoping a future update will fix the "room" issue. It's also a little bigger than I thought it would be but maybe because I'm used to the smaller, older Neato.

    A Capable, Convenient Robot Vacuum

My first impression of the Samsung Jet Bot+ while I was unboxing it was that it had a very good build quality. The design was clean, giving it a pleasant aethetic, and the white only extended this impression. Setting it up was fairly simple. As I have other smart devices in our home, I already had Samsung's SmartThings app, and it took me a minute to select adding the Jet Bot, whith SmartThings downloading the required software. I took a couple of minutes to pair it to the app and complete the Wifi setup, and it was ready to go. One of the main features of the Samsung Jet Bot+ is the Clean Station where the robot vacuum automatically empties its dust bin after a cleaning session. The Clean Station holds 2.5 L of debris. It contains a disposable dust bag which makes it easy as well as convenient to empty, however is a recurring expense as it will have to be replaced after each use. The whole process is quite loud, but it only lasts about 15-20 seconds, and I really like the convenience of having to empty it contstantly. The vaccum has a built-in self-cleaning system that is designed to remove the strands of hair that get caught in the brush which makes life much eaiser for a dog owner like myself. The brush is made of soft woven textiles and antistatic silver threads that perform well on carpets and even better on hardwood floors such as mine. The vaccum also has a feature that automatically adjusts to the type of floor. For example, if it detects a carpet, it will increase the suction power to provide deeper cleaning and return back to normal when it senses hard floors. In practice though, it seemed to work better on hard floors as the fabric brush doesn't seem to agitate the carpet as well to get that deep clean, though it did a good job of picking up surface dirt. Overall it did a good job of keeping the floor free of dirt and pet hair. The side mounted brush did a good job of pulling dirt away from the edges of the floor, though at times it didn't perform as well in corners due to its round shape. The Jet Bot+ uses a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) navigation system. The LIDAR is housed on top of the unit, and I found it doesn't do a great job of avoiding low obstructions, such as cords. There have been several times where the Jet Bot+ has become stuck due to phone charge cords or such that had ended up on the floor. Using LIDAR system the Jet Bot+ maps your home, helping the vacuum plan an efficient cleaning path and identify the areas it has and hasn’t cleaned. You can create virtual boundaries around the areas you don’t want the robot vacuum to go or clean, and it also comes with magentic tape which you can create physical boundaries. The Jet Bot+ also supports integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. Overall, the Samsung Jet Bot+ is a powerful robot vacuum that does its job well. It maps out it's cleaning run and runs a much better route than my prevous robot vaccums which seems to just roam around randomly. The self-emptying feature convenient. It is fully automated (though you do eventually have to empty the 3.5L bag) making it a great choice for those who have busy schedules but still want their floors clean without a lot of time and effort.

This Samsung Jet Bot+ is most likely not your first robot vacuum but an upgrade from your less featured ones given the premium price. This Jet Bot+ is advanced with LIDAR room mapping and the self emptying clean station. Pros: *Looks fantastic and blends in with your decor. *Nice straight carpet lines *Set and forget Cons: *Super premium pricing *Refill bags are $40 for 5 *Mediocre app *Expensive refill bags for the clean station I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy and I still struggled with the initial app setup. You don’t necessarily need the app for the vacuum to work but to unlock all the features, you will need to download the accompanying phone app. After an hour of diagnosing my setup issues, it turned out that I had to disconnect from my home wifi after the initial link to the robot to finish the process. Was a pain but got it working. The app allows you to adjust the room it scanned, set up no-vacuum zones, and schedule your cleanings. The app does let you see live coverage of where the vacuum is going and what’s left to be done. After a cleaning, you can see the exact path it took and where the dirty zones were. The Jet Bot+ and cleaning station is sleek and modern that easily blended in with my home decor. With LIDAR technology, initial room mapping is fast, easy and accurate. The suction is automatically adjusted and the battery life is fantastic. What drew me to this robot vacuum is that it is self emptying. I had to empty my last robot vacuum every 2-3 days or it was full. This Jet Bot+ with Clean Station can hold 1-3 months of vacuuming. This is truly a set-it-and-forget-it system. I did try the “dry cheerios test” on hard floors and on carpet. While the Jet Bot+ didn’t scatter the cheerios on the hard floors, it did miss about 10% of the cheerios and needed a second pass for both the hard floor and carpets to fully clean. See picture for examples. In summary, I do love waking up to freshly vacuumed carpets with nice straight carpet lines. I also love the fact that I don’t have to worry about emptying the dust bin for months. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because of the initial set up issues and the failed cheerios test. Besides these 2 downfalls, I still overall recommend the Jet Bot+ with the Clean Station if you're tired of emptying your old robot vacuum every couple of days and love straight carpet lines.

Sleek and Stylish - A Well Made Robovac

The Samsung Jetbot+ is the self-emptying version of their newest Jetbot robovac. The Jetbot+ is controlled via the Samsung SmartThings app. The design is a big departure from the now discontinued Powerbot. The design brings together a look that is reminiscent of other robovacs on the market like offerings from Roomba and Shark (among others). I have robovacs from Roomba, Neato, Shark, and Deebot so I have pretty good familiarity with them and I know what I should expect out of them. Design and Features The Jetbot+ departs from its predecessors D-shaped design and returns to the recognizable round robovac shape. It measures in at 13.75Ø” x 3.9”. The cleaning path (roller head width) is 6” while its side brush collects debris along the edge. The overall look of the robot can be easily described as clean and precise. The robot itself feels fairly lightweight even though it is slightly larger than some of my other robovacs. The robot design features a single edge brush that works to sweep debris to the roller. There’s only a couple of controls located on the robovac body – start/stop button, a return home button, and the main power switch. On top of the main body is the LIDAR transmitter that the vacuum uses to navigate and map your house. The docking station on the Jetbot+ incorporates a self-emptying design. It’s a taller design – similar to the Roomba i7+ that popularized this setup a few years ago. The tower that makes up the dock is a little over 20 inches tall. This taller design can impact where you locate the vacuum since it may not fit under some things. The external dustbin in the dock has a 2.5L capacity which significantly expands the somewhat small 0.3L dust compartment This is my 5th robovac, and in my experience the app interface and workability can greatly affect your experience with the machine. I initially tried to setup the Jetbot+ with my LG V40 through the SmartThings app. I was not able to connect to the vacuum at all – I have ran into issues with this phone setting up other items, but I have always been able to connect after a little fiddling. I had to get my partner to assist via her new S22+. She was able to set it up immediately and configure it on the WiFi. Once setup in the app both of us ran into issues getting the app to communicate with the robot. I just manually started the Jetbot+ with the button on the machine, and it started mapping/vacuuming. After this run we started to get updates via the app. It was really weird – it took 2 times of running the Jetbot+ for it fully communicate with both of our phones, and even my Tab S8 Ultra. It was odd that the Samsung devices didn’t have a perfect pairing right away. Maybe updates were running in the background affected its communication? After overcoming this hurdle, controlling the Jetbot+ is done solely through the SmartThings app. We can use it on our phones, the tablet, and even through my partner’s Galaxy Watch 4+. The controls on the watch are a lot more slimmed down, but it was fun to see. Inside the app you can configure all of your settings, label rooms on the map, set no-go, zones, and scheduling. The app also pushes notifications to give you status updates – like it being stuck, battery ran low, or it finished cleaning. You can view its location in real time, which I found to be really awesome. You can see the path it has taken and what areas are still up for cleaning. You can tell it to clean a particular room or set of rooms and it follows the instructions without issue. Cleaning Cleaning is easy to setup. You have 3 levels of suction – normal, smart, and max. Smart mode toggles the cleaning power depending on the surface detected – a carpeted surface we get a higher suction setting than a hard floor. There’s another 3 movement patterns to choose from where the Jetbot+ can start with the walls/perimeter and then do the middle, or save the walls for last. The final mode is a zig zig pattern that eventually covers the area. We used the smart suction mode and used the mode to clean all the area first and then do the walls. You can also choose to set the Jetbot+ to clean until it runs out of power in order to get a deeper clean. The vacuum routinely makes a stop or 2 during cleaning to empty thanks to a shedding husky. We have it on a floor with mostly hard floors, but a couple area rugs and a carpeted room. Cleaning time seems to max out at about 1.5 hours when its ran until the battery is depleted. Otherwise it takes about 50-60min to do a full clean of the floor which is about 480 ft2. Performance wise the Jetbot+ seems to do a good job on hard floor picking up stray pet fur and dirt. It was able to pick up small rocks, and cereal crumbs. I didn’t toss a lot of larger items for it to pick up, but it seemed to be on par with my other robovacs. On carpet it again did a nice job. I didn’t notice much in the way of debris being left behind. However, it did have some issues with the debris along the wall in the carpeted room. Since the roller brush sits between the wheels it relies on the side brush to sweep things into it. Unfortunately things like pet hair and other stubborn debris aren’t easily cleaned up by the side brush on carpet. This is an issue I have found with the round robovacs where the roller brush doesn’t extend to the edge. My Neato D7 is the only robovac I have that doesn’t have this shortcoming due to its full width brush and “D” shape. The round shape also works against the robovac in corners, which is a shortcoming of any round robovac. Maneuverability of the Jetbot+ was great. It handle small obstacles like cords and kitchen/bath rugs without any issue. I think it actually handles the bath rugs better than any of the other robovacs I have – it doesn’t seems to push them around or scrunch them up like the others, which is a relief. Object detection and avoidance was solid as well. It did a great job of navigating around small obstacles like a mechanical pencil or small toys/figurines. I can even see in the maps where it circled around the objects during its cleaning cycle. Walking around or moving things on the Jetbot+ doesn’t trip it up at all. It handled the edge of the steps without issue and had no issue crossing any thresholds or up onto the area rugs. Other Observations Cleaning the rollers is pretty easy to accomplish. There is a cleaning guideline that you can easily follow in order to maintain your vac. Changing the filter is also straightforward – pull out the dustbin and the paper filter is under a flap. The dustbin can be rinsed out for easy cleaning as well. There are a couple of extra parts included – an extra side brush, an extra filter, extra dustbin bag, and magnetic boundary marker. I didn’t need to use the boundary marker, but it’s a simple and easy way to cordon off an area without having to mess with your app boundary settings. The LIDAR works really well for mapping. By far the fastest I have ever had a robovac map my house. I was able to watch it in action by checking in on one of my home cameras at night – the nighttime infrared camera picked up the LIDAR beams as it navigated around. I have a Google Home ecosystem setup, so it was important to me that it worked well with Google Assistant. It was very responsive to commands (once I figured out the keywords). Since my partner has invested herself in Samsung’s ecosystem with the S22+ and the Watch 4+ she was able to try out the integration with Bixby and get the most out of the SmartThings ecosystem. Both Google and Bixby worked well and provided us other avenues of controlling the Jetbot+. Overall, I have really liked the Jetbot+. The initial impression with the app was not so great, but that could be due to my device? After the first few hours it started behaving normally and has since worked like a champ. We have had zero issues after the initial setup. Performance wise it seems to do a nice job on the hardfloors and carpeted areas. It hasn’t had any issues traversing the house, avoiding objects, or getting caught up. The app interface works well and I really appreciate the path tracking that the app displays. This is a well made device that fits in well with Samsung’s ecosystem of products.

The Samsung Jet Bot+ has made a huge difference in state of my hard floors in my house. First, I really don’t like to empty the dust bins on these things, and I really enjoy the clean station that comes with this model. With daily usage I think the clean station will be able to hold up to a year’s worth of dirt from my floors, but my dog’s do not shed and there isn’t much dirt tracked into the house from my yards. Samsung has included two bags so I may never have to buy a bag at this rate. When Sammy (my 5-year-old named him) goes back to the clean station to empty himself, it is pretty loud for about 18 seconds, but it does a good job of removing the dust from the bin. There are some occasional dust and debris that is left in there, but I feel it’s acceptable. So far, the soft brush roller has not had a huge build up of hair on it, there are three girls in my house and the previous robot would always get a little hair caught, but so far, Sammy’s roller has been clear of that. Run time on my hard floors has been in line with the rated run times in the manual of 90 minutes on normal mode, between 60-90 minutes on Smart mode (automatically adjusts the suction based on dirt), and 60 minutes on Max mode. Charging does take it about 4 or so hours. Setting up Sammy was a bit of a challenge, and he came fully discharged from the factory, so I had to wait a few hours to set him up. After the initial charge I was able to use the Samsung Smart Things app to set him up. The process was a little clumsy and at times I wasn’t sure if anything was happening in the app. After some trial and error, I was able to set him up. I can use Google Home to start and stop him with my voice, but I am not sure about more advanced commands such as clean a certain room. I was not able to figure that out. The robot has the new LiDAR precision mapping that on the first run will map out the house. This process took less than 30 minutes in my house, and it did a decent job of mapping out the floor plan. I had to edit the map a little to make it more to my liking, but over all it was a good map. The app will actually show you where the robot is when cleaning and you can see the cleaning path that it has done. I find this very useful. You can easily set up no-go zones in the app and this feature works great. This is a fantastic robot vacuum that cleans, navigates, and is a great way to help keep the floors clean in your home. Unfortunately, it will still get tripped up by small items on the floor such as socks and power cords, but they do have a more expensive model that has more advanced navigation and can actually avoid those smaller items. However, for me this is just what I need in my home.

The first thing you notice with Samsung Jet Bot+ Robot Vacuum with upright cleaning station as you unbox it is just what a sleek looking machine it is. Once unboxed, it's very easy to set up 'mechanically' - and by that I mean plug it into the wall, rest the vacuum cleaner on the docking station and turn it on with the button on the side. Now 'digitally' was a difference experience. I already have a few smart Samsung products in my home, so already had the 'Smart Things' app installed. Setting up the Jet Bot+ was a little cumbersome. It crashed once, it timed out once, and I was directly above my router at the time, only about 8ft away. I was finally able to get the Jet Bot+ connected to the Smart Things app, and set it up. First thing I noticed was just how quiet it is compared to my previous Samsung PowerBot. Since working from home during the pandemic, I had stopped the scheduling of the PowerBot, as it was noisy and distracting. The Jet Bot+ is really quiet, considering it is a vacuum cleaner, and runs smoothly. I first tested it on hard wood floors and the rubber wheels maneuvered it around effortlessly. Later on, I took it upstairs to a challenging area of the house. The total area upstairs is about 1800 sq ft, with a spiral staircase in the middle, 3 bedrooms, a media room, 2 bathrooms, a playroom and a wide open space used as an office. Letting the Jet Bot+ explore the area, the LIDAR worked really well. I followed the mapping software in the Smart Things app and it was incredibly accurate, to the point of showing up the individual legs on an office chair, legs of the bed, a foot stool, and many other items around the area. It was fun watching the maps update in real time with my son, guessing where it was going to go next, checking in on it to see what it was up to. I was also very impressed that it did nothing randomly. It was very methodical in it's approach. It did one room at a time. It knew where a doorway was, stopped by itself, turned around and carried on cleaning the current room. When finished, it moved on to the next room. I also purposely let it try to run over the edge of the stairs, but the cliff sensors worked flawlessly and stopped it from tumbling down the stairs. The map shows in detail, each room, the vacuum path, the rooms that it's entered and in my case, the wide open space upstairs that overlooks the living room. I was concerned to see the battery life drop quickly when it started, getting down to around 80% within 10 mins, so I was concerned it wouldn't be able to complete the area. But to my surprise, the battery life slowed down, and settled into a groove. Talking of settling into a groove, the Jet Bot+ created nice, straight lines throughout the room, doesn't just randomly wander around the room aimlessly. It is also the most gentle smart vacuum I've ever had. It doesn't get to the walls, and rarely touches anything in its vicinity. My previous ones were all beat up where it had been touching and bumping off of items around the house. The Jet Bot+ doesn't do any of that. The docking station contains an upright vacuum cleaner that once docked, sucks the dust, dirt and debris out of the Jet Bot+ and into a bag that captures 99.99% of the dust. This process is louder than the Jet Bot+ itself, but doesn't last too long at all, and leaves the Jet Bot+ clean and ready for its next excursion. It has an intelligent power function that allows it to increase and decrease the suction power depending on the surface, and the sensors detect if a deeper clean is needed in certain areas. It also has enhances WiFi control, so using the Smart Things app, you can control it anytime, from anywhere. The vacuum is very easy to take apart to clean, and maintain. Simple, easy clips hold things in place and it's very intuitive. So far it's also been very durable. It has a bumper on the front, should it end up bumping into things, the LIDAR is the circular disc on top. You can control it with the app or the touch sensitive buttons on the top. Another neat addition are the voice prompts. I like that - it gives you an audio message when its heading out, when it's returning, when you open the top of the vacuum tower etc. It helps make you feel connected to the product, and as if it has a mind of its own. Pretty cool. It also has a variety of colored lights along the front, ranging from white to orange and green. As for cleaning, the Jet Bot+ covered the apx 1800 sq ft area in one pass, and did a great job, leaving the carpets looking clean, looking neat and tidy and returning with a decent amount of dust/dirt in the on board receptacle, which was readily sucked out by the docking station vacuum. Overall, I am really impressed with this vacuum, it will be entered back into a cleaning schedule, as it is quiet enough to be unobtrusive. The docking station with built in tower vacuum means that you don't have to empty the Jet Bot+ every time you run it. You do have to buy extra vacuum bags in order to continue to utilize it as designed. I would definitely recommend this vacuum cleaner to my friends, a great addition to the home.

I’ve owned and used a number of robot vacuums, though this is my first experience with one from Samsung as well as with having a self-cleaning docking station. At first glance, this robot is pretty standard in terms of design and form, with a circular 13.5” diameter carapace, front bumper, IR obstacle and cliff sensors, two rubber drive wheels, front 360 roller wheel, removable soft roller brush, and bristle spin brush. Its matte white finish is clean and modern looking, and the dust bin is accessed through a flip-up top panel. The height of the unit is 3” which is just short enough to clear the toe kicks of my kitchen cabinets and appliances, but just barely. There are two capacitive touch buttons on the top that let you start/stop cleaning or send the robot back to the docking station to charge, as well as a 3.25” diameter silver puck on top that houses the LIDAR sensor and protrudes ½” above the unit (non-retractable); thankfully, this sensor sits at the back of the unit and doesn’t usually cause me any height clearance issues. Setting up the unit is very easy and straightforward. After removing the protective films and foam, all you need to do is plug in the charging station, place the robot in the dock, and flip on the power switch. Voice announcements tell you the status of the robot, like what action it is performing or whether it’s having issues. You can select different languages for the voice as well as gendered voices for English, though you can also switch to musical notifications instead or simply mute them. The dock station has built-in cord management in the back, and the robot takes about 4 hours to fully charge from a completely drained state; the charge indicator LED on the robot’s front will change color from a pulsing red to yellow, orange, and, finally, solid green. Since this is a “smart” device, you’ll need a mobile device, Samsung SmartThings app, and a WiFi connection to utilize all of its features. Once connected to the app, the robot will prompt you to create a map of the layout of all the rooms it has access to, using the LIDAR sensor to scan its surrounding. Since my first floor has an open floor plan, it was able to freely roam everywhere expect the laundry room which has a single step down. The robot successfully crossed a low room threshold <1/4” and avoided falling off the step thanks to the cliff sensors. The map it created was very accurate, and when going around furniture and obstacles, the robot taps them gently enough not to push them around or knock anything over. After mapping, you can split up the floor plan into different rooms and set “no-go” zones which the robot will avoid during cleaning (unless overridden). Room divisions can be divided at any angle with a straight line, which is great since we have a hallway with a 45-degree entryway into the living room. However, you aren’t able to define a custom shaped no-go zone, for example, circular, with custom angles, or more than 4 sides, as it must be rectangular. Also, since the robot height is level with the bottom of my dishwasher door, when it passed under it, the stainless steel finish made contact with the capacitive start/pause button and stopped the robot. This slight contact also produced light scratches on the top of the robot, so I decided to mark the area under the dishwasher as a no-go zone. This vacuum can only store 1 map at a time, so if you move the docking station to another spot, the recommendation is to delete the map in the app and re-map from the new location, so it can find the station when it is finished cleaning. However, this step isn’t necessary if you plan on cleaning the new area as a one-off run. For example, since the robot can’t normally access my laundry room due to the step down, I simply place it in the laundry room and tap the start button on top, and it uses the LIDAR sensor to create a temporary map for its current run. This enables “clean everywhere” mode which ignores no-go zones, though you cannot mark those on a temporary map anyway. I like that the app shows you live tracking of the robot as it cleans and a history of its travel path. This lets you monitor its coverage and can also help you find the robot if it gets stuck. Alternatively, you can activate an audible “find” alert on the robot to help locate it. You can set the vacuum to run until it is out of battery, about 90 minutes, or until it completely covers the mapped area. If your space is large and it cannot cover the entire mapped area on one charge, the robot will return to the station to charge, then pick up where it left off after fully charging. I did attempt to use the included magnetic barrier strip to prevent the robot from entering the front hallway; however, since I didn’t use the double-sided tape to adhere it to the floor, the robot was able to push the strip away and drag it, getting stuck on it the process. If fixed in place, the robot does not cross the strip. While the barrier has a decorative weathered wood vinyl veneer on top, if you don’t like the idea of adhering a magnetic strip to your floor, try blocking the area off using a “no-go” zone in the app or placing the strip under a low-pile throw rug, so it won’t move. I found that this robot responds to magnetic strip barriers from other brands too, as I’d already had some in place for other robot vacuums. The main benefit to using the magnetic barrier is that this cannot be overridden using the “clean everywhere” mode. For regular cleanings, I set the robot to run on an automatic daily schedule. You can set the suction to normal (low), max, or smart, which adjusts depending on detected conditions. You can also select from quick clean mode or more through cleanings that start or end with wall edge cleaning. On hard floors, this robot vacuum is able to pick up a great deal of dust, debris, and hair, even where the floor is uneven or wavy. However, on our carpeted second floor, the cleaning power and maneuverability was only so-so. The furrowed wheels were able to traverse our medium-pile carpeting but struggled in some areas where the carpeting is looser and has uneven wrinkles. It also doesn’t dig deep into the fibers to draw out embedded dust and debris, so things like string, fuzz, or long hair that is enmeshed in the fibers tend not to get picked up. Even set on max suction, it only grab stuff sitting on the surface of the carpet. The bin size in the robot is 0.3L, and you can set the clean station to empty it upon charging or only when the bin is full. After emptying, the bin in the robot and its dust filter can be removed, washed, and dried between uses. With daily runs (approximately 400 sq ft), for me the bin doesn’t fill up that much, and since the vacuum bag in the station can hold up to 2.5L, I probably only need to empty it every couple of months. A second spare vacuum bag is included. The vacuum bags are a consumable though, and are meant to be disposed and replaced when full. The fine dust particle filter on the back of the station can be shaken out but is not designed to be washed. I liked that the suction channel is clear on the bottom of the base and removable, so you can open it to clear a clog, if need be. The robot does a nice job getting right up to the baseboards without having to bump them, though it tends to bump furniture and objects in the middle of the rooms quite often, especially if the obstacle is shorter than 3” tall. I did like that it cleans right up close to the docking station, rather than giving it a wide berth, as other robots tend to do. However, I was surprised to find that bristles on the spin brush sometimes kink, tangle, and knot on each other; while I was able to get them untangled, it left some of the bristles bent and misshapen. Luckily, Samsung included a spare brush, so if it gets severe I can change it easily. Since I have a Samsung smartphone, I was able to use the Bixby AI assistant to control the robot via voice commands. The commands list can be found in the SmartThings app and includes changing the robot’s settings, cleaning a specific room, checking its status, and emptying the bin. I also connected Alexa to SmartThings, but was unable to find a list of accompanying voice commands to control the robot with Alexa. You can also change settings and start a cleaning cycle in the app itself. Overall, I think this robot vacuum does a fine job of cleaning my hard floors efficiently and regularly. The map the LIDAR sensor generates is accurate, and I can set no-go zones or use magnetic strips to contain it to the areas where I want it to run. It’s good at avoiding walls and doesn’t get stuck often, as long as you remove small obstacles or have it avoid areas that tend to cause it problems (wires, tall thresholds, tasseled rugs, etc.). When I need it to clean a different/new area, it can be run as a one-off session with no additional setup. There are several modes and options for customizing functionality, cleaning performance, and energy efficiency and since the bin is self-emptying, I won’t need to clean out the bin manually often, if at all. I do think it’s a shame that the clean station uses disposable filter bags as a consumable, from a sustainability standpoint, as I’d rather have a washable removable dust chamber. The battery life is more than enough to clean my home’s entire first floor multiple times, as it can complete a single pass in about 25 minutes.

I put off getting a Vacuum Robot for quite some time, then I was at relative's who had more than one, and it occured to me needed at least 3 or 4 for my split level home (I was fine with that as long as they could run when I was not around). I have a whole house air filtration and room air filters in most rooms. I'd been concerned that robot vacuums moved around more dust than they picked up. But now the latest robots have decent filters and dust controls. But, more importantly that you don't need to empty the robot everytime it runs. With filtered dust bins you might only need to empty the bin every couple months. Now we're on to something convenient, having to empty tiny bin's on robots defeats the purpose of programming them to run when your not around. The other major change in today's newest robot vacuums is they are getting more quite and more smart. One of the first robots I got "wandered" around randomly, not ideal if you want to get all the floor area. Since then one of the features I look for is decent room mapping. This is a very important feature. This Samsung uses something called Lidar, which is a laser that can measure distance (something I've worked with it before in my profession). So like I said I live in a split level house, one set of stairs that separates my kitchen, dining, living room from my family room, guest bed/bath and laundry. All other bedrooms and baths are upstairs (no robots available today can negociate stairs). Maybe when the learn to fly like a drone this will become possible (seems unlikely given what they weigh). The other big change is robot vacuums is they keep getting more quite, and they are getting longer battery life. The first one lasted about 30m, the new ones last 60-90m. Also the wheels have improved, they climb up and down rugs with ease. I call this Samsung "Whisker", because it only has a spinning brush on one side, I have an earlier version I call "Whiskers" because it has 2 spinning brushes. Since I've watched this one move around, I don't think it matters, as this one turns and moves into corners to put it's whisker to greater use. When you first use this robot, you have to determine it you want it to map your room(s) first, or clean and map at the same time. I tried both methods, and I think it moves more efficiently if it has a map to begin with. The map that it builds seems to be accurate within about 2". Once it has mapped out a room, it then negotiates around the boundaries of the room. This ends up being close to the way it will clean, except if you block it from entering a room it will, skip to another room and try to finish room by room, kind of like you might. It does a excellent job on dense pile rugs, covering every single inch. On hard floors it's not quite as efficient, but still pretty good, in kitchens the toe kick areas are fine if 4" or higher, less than that it won't get underneath. Where I had rugs in my kitchen which went under toe kicks the robot could not fit, but it did not try, so it did not get stuck (like an older robot did). It tries very hard to get under chairs, and does a pretty good job. I am quite impressed by the emptying system, it comes with and extra filter and "Whisker", the Samsung continues to improve, it get more detailed and offers better mapping options now and the ability spot clean, and the ability to draw areas on the map that you may want to exclude (a brilliant feature). One function still missing is auto Avoid Cords. You still must make sure you don't have any notebook power packs/cords on the floor. And make sure you don't have any power cords under furniture, if the robot can get there, the cord will cause problems. Seriously, take care about this. I think this is my 6th vacuum robot, and it's one of only two I'd buy again (both auto empty).

Great vac; Smart Things app needs some work

This is now my third experience with robot vacs; years ago had a "dumb" one that kind of just bumped around, that's long in the trash; on my lower level have a competitor's vac without a clean station; and I've assigned the Samsung to do the upper levels. The Jet Bot is by far the best cleaner, and the quietest. Having two long haired dogs, I'm keenly aware of the need to regularly clean the tangle on the rollers. That said, the Samsung is also the best in that regard. To set up the Jet Bot, you need to install the Samsung Smart Things app; which will control various Samsung devices; I included an image showing the Jet Bot, my Series 8 TV, and an Air Purifier. Here is where I ran into some minor hiccups. While I was physically setting it up, I I asked my wife to download the app on her phone. She did so, and set the robot out to do an initial layout map.Equipped with Lidar mapping, it does a great job of getting a precise image of your rooms. After the first mapping & cleaning, I downloaded the app for myself; at that point it returned an error message that it was registered to someone else. What's not clearly indicated in the instructions is that to share operation between persons, you must "invite" that individual to use your app. There was also an issue where the first map did not segregate the area into rooms; it was all designated as one area. I decided to start over; told my wife to uninstall her app; I was then able to acquire the Jet Bot, and sent her an invitation which was accepted. We restarted the mapping process, this time it was able to define separate rooms. I've attached a photo to show the layout it detected. The red hatched areas are the kitchen and a bedroom bathroom which we designated as no go areas. Another issue I had with the app is in setting up perimeters. In theory, you're supposed to be able to draw lines on the map to indicate barriers; for instance, the entrance to the kitchen. In practice, it's very difficult on a phone to be able to draw a line with your finger in a small space. I tried to stretch the map on my phone's screen, every time I did that it lost the line, and would not allow me to redraw it. I was finally able to get it close enough, but not perfect. The app could definitely use some finessing. All that said, the machine itself performed flawlessly. I added a pic where you can see the striping lines it left while cleaning - looks like the grass in Yankee stadium! One last gripe - the price of the dust bags is up there; only 1 spare is included in the box; so you'll be shopping for more soon.

    Smart futuristic looking robot vacuum

I received a big shipping box, I’m thinking of how big is this robot vacuum. After opening the box and removing the contents, it was mostly cardboard that was in place to prevent damage. Setup Before Cleaning: As I was opening the box I noticed a QR code printed on the lid of the box. I used my camera and it took me to a video that shows what to do for setting up. If I had missed the QR code the app also walked me through the steps of setting up. I had no problem with setup and I think it was made easy for everyone to get through it. Be careful with the cleaning base station while putting it together because it has some weight probably around 20 pounds. It would really be a shame if I dropped my new expensive new JetBot+. Now after the initial setup I had to charge my JetBot+. There’s a cool LED light that changed color as it charged from red (low) to green (full). I received a notification when it was yellow to run the JetBot+ to learn and create a layout map but I chose to wait until it was at full charge. The map run took less than 10 minutes and I made sure the doors to the rooms were open. After the mapping was completed I went to the app and made minor adjustments but I think it did a good job with the layout. All I did was combine a room because it was divided up in the layout. Good time to create No Go Zones if any but so far I’ll be ok and see how the JetBot+ navigate. Cleaning With JetBot+: The JetBot+ is quiet when it’s cleaning. I noticed that it doesn’t really rub on the wall when it is cleaning the borders of my walls. My older robot vacuum had paint marks around it because of it rubbed on the walls when cleaning. The JetBot+ so far is doing good when cleaning and so far no paint marks. The JetBot+ navigate to each room well except for the dining room. With the chairs in the dining room it takes awhile for it to clean under the table. It struggle to the point I decided to make the table area a no go zone. Once in a while I will just manually vacuum under the table. The no go zones can be set in the smart things app and easy to do. I prefer doing the no go zones instead of the boundary tape. I find that after setting up the zones the JetBot+ was find navigating the rooms without going to areas I did want it to go. Really Cool Features: Talking Robot Vacuum- The JetBot talks to you when it’s in trouble and before it starts cleaning to let you know what it’s going to do. I’m not sure if I will get tired of that but for now it’s great. I did find out that you can turn that on/off in the settings. Precision Cleaning Pattern- I watched the JetBot+ while it was cleaning and I think it cleans in a pattern designed not to miss any areas if there are no obstacles. The app also shows a detailed report of the cleaning. Cleaning Station- Although I could’ve done without it, I thing it is good to have as a bonus. The station charges and empty the JetBox after every cleaning. It’s always ready for the next cleaning. The only negative is that it’s loud when it empty out the JetBot+. It’s quick but it sounds like a jet getting ready to take off. Maybe that’s where the JetBot came from. The Summary Of My Experience: After using the JetBot+ for a few days, I think it is a good investment. Busy people, pet owners, smart homes, people with allergies are all going to love this JetBot+ by Samsung. The JetBot+ sucks up just about everything in it’s path leaving me with a cleaner home. It is compatible with my Google assistant which is major for me because I would to make my home a smart home. I don’t see a major flaw yet except for the bag in the base station and the loud noise when emptying the robot to the base station. I do think Samsung should of make the base station with a removable bin for emptying out when it’s full instead of a bag. Now I have to worry about getting replacement bags which will be an inconvenience, if it’s not pricey that will help. I do hope with updates and regular uses the JetBot+ get better in performance.

The Samsung Jet Bot+ Robot Vaccum with Clean Station is our first Samsung smart robot vacuum and it doesn’t disappoint. It came packed very well in a big box with plenty of environmentally friendly packaging and protective tape and foam in all the right places. There is a QR code you can scan that will guide you through the download/install of the SmartThings AppOver and easy setup of the Jet Bot+ itself. It will first have to charge for some time and it will let you know with a pleasant voice what it’s doing and also send updates through the App. Once it was fully charged the light turned green, so I asked it to do a quick mapping job, with no cleaning. It went about its business, around furniture obstacles, even over the thresholds between the living room and kitchen. The obstacle avoidance works really well, thanks to the advanced LiDAR sensors that help it adjust its path and cleaning optimization based on the surface it’s going over. iRobot makes everything so easy from the very start - even the unboxing has simple instructions. Unlike the other popular competitor that goes in straight lines back and forth all over the floor, the Samsung Jet Bot+ is much quicker to scan the rooms. It completed nearly 500 sqft mapping of 7 rooms in about 10 minutes, after which it returned to the home base and gave a verbal update. The cleaning can be done for the entire mapped area or you can select individual “rooms” that have been mapped. Once it was done, it found its way back to the Cleaning Station where it automatically kicked-in the self-emptying routine which I must say was fairly loud, like a jet airplane taking off, but completed in about 15 seconds. Another nice touch is the Cleaning Station came with a waste bag pre-installed and a spare. Good thing, because they seem to be somewhat pricey. Time will tell how many loads per bag it can take. Other notable features are the 5-Layer HEPA filtration system and the Live Cleaning Report available in the SmartThings App that shows you where the Jet Bot+ is on the map and where you can tell it to pause, stop and get other details about its cleaning history. All in all, if you can afford it and especially if you have pets that shed a lot of hair, this is one smart robot vacuum to get.

The one liner: this vacuum is amazing. The point when I became impressed is when the vacuum ran out of battery power while cleaning our main floor. It returned to the base to charge up, and then after it was charged, it went back to the exact spot it had left off and resumed cleaning. The path finding is incredible. Compared to my other vacuum bots from other companies, the Samsung goes along its route with very minimal bumping. It stops right before physically ramming into furniture. And the dimensions are fairly standard, so it is able to clean under the beds and sofas without getting stuck. Aesthetically, the vacuum and base are a pleasing tone of white, which fits in with our home decor. I do wonder if the white color will start to look dirty after a while, but for now it looks very sleek. The self-cleaning base sucks the dust out of the vacuum into a larger bin. That means you just pull the tray out of the main base and dump it out once a week or so depending on the size of the area you’re cleaning. I’ve got two toddler boys that love running around with snacks, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well this vacuum keeps everything clean. I’ve run a handheld over high traffic areas after the Samsung was done to see if it missed anything, and so far, I’ve never found much left. Makes life so much easier by reducing the chores you have to do.

Bought from Best buy open box. I have had quite a few automated vacuums over the years and the lidar on here keeps it from getting stuck more often than all others. It like to catch in the same spots so you can tell it not to go there and then it's a done deal. Just a once a month clean up and bag replacement.

I am absolutely in love with my smart vacuum! It not only leaves my carpet looking pristine with those gorgeous vacuum lines, but it also motivates me to keep my home tidy and organized. It's a win-win situation because not only do I get to enjoy a beautifully clean floor, but my entire house stays twice as clean as I am encouraged to keep everything in order in order to use the vacuum.

This robot vacuum is good when its new, and it is the only one i could find that has a soft roller which works best on hard floors. The major problem i have is that you cant find replacement parts AT ALL. New filters, corner brush, etc, must be purchased from chinese knockoff companies on amazon or ebay and have such poor quality. There is no good replacement parts for sale by samsung. I have had this for maybe a year and a half i forgot exactly when but the battery is starting to really under perform and not last long before it goes back and charges which takes all day to clean. Most of the time the zone maps work but occasionall it will get lost and have to reset it on the base. Most annoying thing is the lack of parts to keep it fresh.

    A true little robot helper

The Samsung Jet Bot is the true definition of a robot vacuum little helper. I've had older brands of bot vacuums that were good for the time before the bot age of vacuums were a thing. But this Samsung bot vacuum has truly impressed me up to this point. Unboxing it looked like it was going to be a chore, but in the end it was just packaged really well to protect the new best friend of the house in transit. It comes pre assembled for the most part other than removing a few transit tapes and foam and inserting the charging base to the dust can. Once all that is done, attach the power cord, download the app, make all the necessary wifi and registration connections, and off to the races of cleaning you go. On first run of the jet bot, make sure to pick up or organize the clutter throughout the house or areas you want the bot travel. Try to keep in mind the regular areas that you want cleaned and the obstacles that are going to be regularly in place. I say this because it is so much easier once you let the bot map your terrain.... yes, I said map the terrain!! This is where I was initially set in awe and fell in love with the bot. In the app, you can just let the bot go and clean areas which it does fine with the "LiDar" sensors it has to avoid obstacles and maneuver around. But, I would recommend allowing the bot to use its full potential and travel your house to make its own map of where it can and will clean. This things is leaps and bounds ahead of the older model bot vacuums that bumped and rubbed their way around getting stuck in the most annoying places. The Samsung does none of this and it talks to you and advises you of what it is doing. It will travel the house and areas to clean making a digital floorplan that you can view in the app. You can also see the route of travel that the bot has done. Amazing. Once it has completed the floorplan, it will divide it into rooms that are very precise to your original floorplan and you can choose to clean individual spaces or multiple spaces while viewing it in action. On the floorplan it marks the home base and position of the bot. The bot vac itself is fairly quiet when in operation and it has several smart functions for battery saving and suction power. I let it do what it does on default settings because as of right now it does an amazing job. It sucks up everything in its path and just when you think it missed a spot, it doubles back and makes a track line to clean every square foot that was mapped out. When cleaning is completed it announces it to you and returns to the base where it empties the dust picked up into the base station and begins self charging. It rarely got stuck on anything unless there was a stray power cord or sock laying where it shouldn't have been. When it did get stuck, it would announce it for you to hear it and send a notification via the app. This bot vac is truly a smart vacuum that has essentially become the equivalent of a family pet. Its hard not to watch it in action.
