This is our second Samsung laptop, our first one being the Samsung Notebook 9 NP900X3A from 2011. The older one actually still runs very well save for the battery life which obviously degrades over time. Still, after about 8 years, we felt that it was finally time for an upgrade.
DESIGN
The latest model departs from its original sleek and futuristic design for a more industrialized Apple-esque look, which is still beautiful to say the least. It has a nice (light) weight which makes it a joy to carry around. The vent has been redesigned to bring the hot air out the back. The hinge has also been changed to accommodate the 2-in-1 feature of the laptop. Unfortunately, the hinges are not sturdy enough so the display wobbles a bit when you tap with your fingers or the included pen. The laptop does not come with Windows Hello, but it does have a decent fingerprint scanner embedded into the power button.
DISPLAY
While many reviewers say that it is not as bright as competing laptops, we spend most of the time using it indoors, so we did not find any problems with the brightness. The display shows nice colors and is sharp enough for typing, reading, and watching videos. If you think you'll be using it outdoors often, there are other laptops that are brighter (some Samsung laptops also have an Outdoor Mode that makes it brighter at the cost of battery).
It is also touchscreen-ready since it is a 2-in-1. It is a nice convenience to have.
SOUND
It's not very good. They are bottom-firing so they get muffled unless if you put your laptop on a stand (which is a nice way to help keeping it well-ventilated too).
KEYBOARD
It does not have as much key travel as other laptops from Dell and Lenovo, but is something that was easy enough to adjust to. We appreciated the backlight for when we use the laptop at night.
TRACKPAD
It is not the best trackpad, but because it uses Windows Precision drivers, it's still one of the better experiences for a Windows laptop.
PERFORMANCE
With a quad core 8th Gen i7 and 8 GB of RAM, there were no problems with day to day use (unless if you keep the laptop on battery saving mode which tries to keep the speeds at a minimum).
At full performance mode, we feel the fans kick in early quite often, but is not much of a problem so far. It's good to know that Samsung software was designed to prevent any of the internal parts from overheating or melting (something that's happened to our old HP laptop).
CONNECTIVITY
We haven't had any issues with WiFi or Bluetooth so far, and have fully adapted to using USB c for everything. The laptop comes with 3 USB c ports, 2 of which are compatible with Thunderbolt. It is nice to be able to use just one charger and cable for both the laptop and the smartphone. We can even use our Power Bank when we are in a pinch!
BATTERY
This has been the main reason for the upgrade, and we are probably able to get about 8 hours of use without being plugged in. Your mileage will definitely depend on how you use the laptop, but for basic day-to-day use (browsing the internet, streaming videos, making documents), the laptop is more than capable.
CONCLUSION
Overall, we have been very happy with this laptop, and while it is too soon to tell, we feel confident enough to say that this will last us at least another 8 years. Highly recommended!

Sleek little notebook

I am very happy with this notebook. EXCEPT for it not having any USB ports, that is my only gripe so far. The notebook is very lightweight and sleek. The size is much smaller than a standard laptop, yet bigger than my ipad (see pics), pretty perfect actually. Setup was a breeze, connected to wifi in a snap. The display is lovely and movies look great on it. The speakers are very loud for the size of this notebook, don't expect any base though, as with most all devices not designed for that purpose. The included pen is a nice addition, for those who fancy them. My daughter found it fun for drawing pictures, though I personally find no other use for it, to each their own. The battery on this thing is amazing! It outlasts my laptop by about double the time, as well as the battery not draining while the notebook isn't being used. If I don't fully shutdown my laptop, the battery will slowly drain and die (even without use), not this guy! It sat untouched for several days and the battery was unaffected. When you do turn it off entirely, all you have to do is open it an it wakes up. Its nice to have a laptop/tablet in one. It has a very nice touchscreen, and when you rotate the keyboard it either becomes a stand for tablet mode, or fold all the way to get more of a tablet feel. The mousepad is very responsive and easy to use, still not as good as having an actual mouse, though that is personal preference. It has a lighted keyboard option, which is great when you're ruining your eyes in a dark room at night. The size of this notebook is also much better for my young daughter to use. She doesn't like my laptop because its too big and heavy on her lap, she does however love this notebook! It really is the perfect size for her. I am also a fan of how much lighter it is than my laptop, so easy to carry from room to room. The surface is a tad slippery though, so be careful, we almost had drop! Might look into getting a cover to avoid slips. I would say with battery life and size in mind, this Notebook 9 Pro would be perfect for college students on the go, that are not looking to lug around some heavy laptop with a short battery life... but also younger kids just learning how to use and operate computers. Its very versatile honestly.

If you're looking to upgrade a laptop, then look no further. This laptop offers speed, great performance and super lightweight. That means if you're on the go, this can be a great option for you. I'm going to be using this device as a family laptop.
Out of the box, I noticed many great things. The first, is its lightweight and sturdy feel. It has great balance and I can easily hold it with one hand. The keys are standard and feel like they won't fall out if you press them too hard. The third is touch screen. It's really cool to be able to touch anywhere on the screen and have it responsive. I'm able to just press anywhere on the screen and boom it opens what I press.
Performance wise, it's great. I'm using it more for an everyday non business device so I'm extremely pleased with how it runs. It's not overheating and doesn't take me long to open a program or really try and give it lots of demands. It offers the option to maximize battery life or performance. Because I'm not going to be pushing the laptop through the grinder, I have it slightly favoring battery life. I've been using it for several hours and I'm pleased to say it estimates an additional 6 hours left. In all, it's getting about a 15 hour charge.
Pros:
Touch screen
battery life
lightweight
durable
great feel in hands
doesn't get hot
Option to maximize performance or battery life
Cons:
Mouse pad is working well, but sometimes I've had to press harder to get it to open.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. It's a bit on the price side compared to what's out there but you'll be pleased with the features. It works and performs wonderfully for my daily needs. I love the touchscreen aspect.

Best compact laptop I have ever used!

This device is hands down the most powerful and capable compact laptop that I have ever used. It has the system memory, feature set, and processing power to easily handle and multi-task all my productivity and entertainment needs. It features an elegant, compact design that allows it to function as a laptop, tablet, or a hybrid of both. It is perfect for any and all personal productivity and entertainment duties that I have used it for. It’s compact size and light weight make using and carrying it an absolute pleasure.
--SAMSUNG NOTEBOOK 9 PRO HIGHLIGHTS—
8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, Lightweight and Portable, Powerful Multi-Tasking Performance, 256 GB Solid State Hard Drive, Fingerprint Reader, Bright and Vibrant Screen, 2 in 1 laptop/tablet design, 3 USB-C ports, Powered Stylus.
--SETUP--
Was as simple as charging and turning it on, signing on to Wi-Fi, and then Windows. Since I already have a Microsoft account my saved settings were seamlessly carried over from my other PC so I was up and running very smoothly.
Samsung has included propriety setting that allow for some enhanced customization features in addition to what is allowed by Windows 10. Once feature that I really liked is a battery saver option that simulates having the battery removed and the laptop running on AC power. I have never seen this option before and am using it because this will keep the battery running at peak efficiency much longer.
Included is a power brick that attaches to a USB-C charging cord. Because USB-C is becoming widespread I love that don’t have to bring the power brick with me on the go and can instead charge it with the same power adapter that I use for my other portable devices. Of course, using a phone or tablet power adapter will charge a laptop much slower, but is nice a nice option when travelling light is a priority.
--DESIGN AND FEATURES—
This device features a 2 in 1 design that allows it to be used as a laptop or tablet. If it is folded over like a tent it can even be used as a tablet/stand. I found the stand, and tablet orientations to be useful for watching videos and using Apps. The display orientation automatically adjusts when the laptop is transformed to a different mode. They keypad also deactivates to avoid unintentional key strokes in tablet mode.
Samsung very usefully placed two USB-C ports on the right side and one on the left side. All are powered, so the charging side can be adapted to the side that has an available power outlet. The left two USB-C ports are rated as Thunderbolt 3 capable. Thunderbolt 3 allows for enhanced data transfer and video display capabilities while being completely backwards compatible with and sharing the same footprint as USB-C.
The battery charges fully in about one hour, and I have found it to last for a respectable 12 hours per charge.
The flash hard drive greatly improves the system speed. If you have never used a solid state hard drive you will immediately notice the improved speed as opposed to the older style hard disk drive.
The screen is full HD (1080P) capable. It is rated as 350 nits for indoor use and up to 500 nits for outdoor use. The color, contrast, and sharpness are superb and is exactly what I would expect at this price point.
The touch screen is very responsive and works well. The included stylus pen works well with Windows Ink. Be aware that the stylus uses a AAA battery (included) and how long it will last depends on your use. I have been using the stylus for a few days and the battery is still going strong. Also included is a few extra stylus tips.
They keyboard layout is functional and very easy to use. It is very nicely backlit and does a great job off illuminating at the right level because of the ambient light sensor. This is the best backlit keyboard design I have ever used.
The power button on the right-side doubles as a fingerprint scanner. This scanner works well and is very fast and accurate.
The dual band wireless adapter worked flawlessly and was able to provide a very strong connection.
This laptop comes equipped with stereo speakers that are adequate for most basic tasks. The sound quality is typical for a thin laptop and is comparable to the sound produced externally by a phone or other small device. When I listen to music and movies I use a Bluetooth speaker or headphones.
--BUILD QUALITY AND APPEARANCE—
I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with the build quality. The chassis It is made of an aluminum/magnesium alloy that makes this notebook not only beautiful to look at, but also thin, light, and easy to handle.
The color (called Platinum Titan) is a very attractive satin silver hue.
--VERDICT—
This laptop is equipped with enough processing power and system memory to easily handle any of the productivity and entertainment tasks that I use it for. The boot up time in near instant because of the processor, memory, and solid state drive. The program and App response are likewise nearly instantaneous.
This hybrid notebook/tablet is expensive but is an excellent choice for the user that needs the best performance, capability, and features. The performance level is comparable to that of a tablet or phone, which is amazing from a Windows 10 device. I cannot recommend this laptop enough.

Solid machine with nice design touches

I’ve been using a Lenovo Yoga 710 for the past few years as my primary personal laptop, but recently decided to pass it along and get a new machine. The Samsung caught my eye as it’s lightweight, stylish, and has a long battery life. There are a number of machines of similar size and capabilities around but for some reason, the design of this machine just spoke to me. The screen is bright, with a small bezel and a solid feel when you use the touchscreen.
The lightweight exterior hides a very powerful core i7 processor on the inside. It handles my large spreadsheets without any problem at all while displaying them crisply. So far, I have not felt any significant amount of heat from the machine bottom, even with moving swiftly between applications while listening to music.
To help achieve it’s compact design, the Samsung Notebook 9 comes with only USB-C & Thunderbolt ports. While it’s a little annoying to have to buy adapters, nearly every manufacture is doing the same. On the plus side, I can use my phone charger to power the notebook in a pinch.
While my 3 year old machine gets ~4 hours per charge, this machine can go and go for nearly 10 hours without needing a recharge. When you need a charge, a 1 hour boost gives you close to 80% battery. You can also use any battery pack with USB-C out to juice up (a little more slowly) if you’re on the go all day. I’d have loved to have something like this back when I was in school!
The lighted keyboard is very comfortable to use. It’s better than the Dell I use at work and as comfortable as the Lenovo I’ve been using. It has very good palm rejection so you can rest your hands on the laptop while typing again. Many manufactures struggle with this, leaving your cursor to jump all over the page as you try to compose papers and e-mails. Samsung seems to have mastered this issue with no settings required out of the box!
Speaking of input, the active pen adds a nice touch, for those more inclined towards handwriting. This allows you to rest your hand on the screen while writing into your favorite notes application such as OneNote. You can also use it for photo touch ups on the go. The microphone pick up is also top notch. Video calls are loud and clear with no echo. My only slight gripe is that from time to time the touchpad glitches. The issue seems to resolve itself within a few minutes.
Benchmarks put this in the lower half of performers, but don’t confuse this with a desktop. The SSD drive cranks at 1.5TB per second, using an NVME connector, a nice step up from the prior model. Apps boot fast. The machine itself goes from off to ready in ~ 8 seconds. From sleep mode, it’s instantaneous with the fingerprint reader built into the power button. Overall, this is a solid machine with strong performance when you need it and a decent battery in between. It’s hard to be disappointed with a Samsung!

There were several laptops I was considering in which all of them had similar specs and price points. The only issue was that they were too big and a bit heavy. I was used to having the sleek and light MacBook, which is lighter to bring along with me. This laptop is a little heavier than my MacBook, but the biggest selling point in making me choose this one was the reviews on the battery life! I am a heavy laptop user, but I can just charge this once ( takes about a little more than an hour) and it would last me about six-seven hours of watching movies. Also, I really like the sleekness and design of it. It is useful that it can be converted into a tablet by just folding it over and that it helps to auto-rotate the screen. The slight annoyance I have is that when I convert it into the tablet mode, it usually goes to the windows apps and programs page and doesn't have the desktop page. It'll just keep paying my video's audio in the background while I try to navigate my browser. The rims have a really nice and unique texture. It is unfortunate that there is no slot for the S Pen. It is a relatively large stylus that works really well with the Samsung Notes since it has a button that acts as an eraser. I usually just attach the pen to the edge of the rim since it is magnetic. The left side of the laptop has 2 USB-C ports and the headphone jack, while the right side has 1 USB-C port, the power button, and a microSD card slot. An excellent feature is that the charger is a USB-C plug, so you can choose any of one of the USB-C ports to charge the laptop. Some don't like that there isn't a regular USB port, but I don't feel like its a big issue for me since there are many small and portable attachments now. The power button acts also as a finger scanner that helps to unlock the laptop. In my experience, the finger scanner doesn't work half of the time. I am thankful that there are three ways of unlocking it. You can use the Microsoft password, pin or the finger scanner. And the keyboard is very comfortable and without the loud clacking sounds. The set up for the laptop was pretty simple, but a long process unless you already have a Microsoft account to begin with. So far the system has been running smoothly and the apps and laptop starts up quickly.

I have never been a Samsung PC person. I have owned several desktops and laptops over the years and for one reason of another I have never had the opportunity to own a Samsung until now.
The Samsung 930MBE is a compact, light laptop that is surprisingly powerful for its small size. It has a beautiful clear 13” touch screen with an intel I-7 8th generation processor, 256 SSD drive and 8 gigs of Ram.
This laptop also converts to a two in one tablet by folding the screen on its self and switching to tablet mode on the screen. The included stylus is very use for note taking and detail work on the screen itself. The key board is easy to use and comfortable for typing. The touch pad is large and easy to use. The Samsung is preloaded with Samsung applications for managing the laptop’s internal drivers and PC health.
The laptop comes preloaded with MS Office 360 and the usual MS apps as well. What is impressive is the speed and quality of the material that is used on the PC. The keyboard is very responsive and back-lit.
This is a very strong choice in a crowed field of two in one laptops and I easily recommend it to anyone looking for a convertible laptop.

I've been using this laptop for about a week and I'm really impressed with Samsung's improved quality and design in this latest generation. I'm also a Samsung Galaxy Note user, but I never really considered how the combination/integration between my phone and laptop could benefit me. There's only a few small improvements that I would like to see changed and one caveat if you are considering using this device.
HARDWARE: The build quality has really improved over the last version. Samsung has switched to a metal-material for the body, instead of a faux-metal plastic in the prior generation. It feels really solid and there's no creakiness in the body. The hinge to open the lid is really sturdy and turns completely around and flat against the back. The hinge was really tight and hard to open the first time, but it's improved as I've used it. However it's not a one-handed open type of lid though. The keyboard feel is very similar to a macbook; shallow keypress and backlit black on white keys. It takes some getting used to, especially if you don't use a laptop as your primary device or you haven't had macbook style keyboard switches. The display is typical samsung quality; very bright, lots of color. There's a fairly thick bezel along the bottom; there must be some reason why they couldn't have made this a little smaller. At least the webcam is along the top where it should be. The edges of the device are beveled, but have a hard edge (vs. rounded bevels) and are sharp. I've seen worse, but it's something to be aware of. There's three USB-C ports only; no USB-A ports, so make sure you have the appropriate adapters. At least the USB-C is Thunderbolt 3. There's also a standard headphone jack and MicroSD card slot. The power button is on the right side and includes a fingerprint reader which works well. The included pen works fine, but there's no where to dock it in the machine, and there's nothing special about it functionality wise from regular Windows inking capability. The included pen is not a Galaxy note style stylus; just a regular-sized black stylus. Nothing remarkable.
SOFTWARE: Came with Windows 10 Home out of the box with paid upgrade available to Pro. Would be nice to see Pro included, since this is being marketed as a "Pro" device. There's some bloatware included, but it's easy to uninstall, and I'm not counting the Samsung apps as bloatware. It took about an hour out of the box to get Windows and all of the Samsung drivers updated to the latest versions, so don't plan to use this right away. Since I'm a Samsung Galaxy Note user, I have gotten a lot of use out of the Samsung Notes app on my phone, and I was very pleased to see a desktop version included and that all my notes synced over perfectly. This is the one feature that would make me choose this laptop vs. other brands, since I'm already in the Samsung "ecosystem".
OVERALL: Great choice for a laptop user looking for a machine to use on the go.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is working out very well for me. I travel often and this notebook is light weight and thin. It packs well and the size is great when working from tight airplane seats. It boots up and performs tasks quickly. The touch screen is sensitive. You get used to it, but your colleagues always unknowingly touch the screen, giving your notebook a command at the wrong time. Thank goodness for “undo”. The appearance is very clean. The aluminum case is a little sharp, but it provides grips to assist opening the screen.

I got this computer when it was on sale for $999 and I'm so happy I did. It's super fast and easy to use. The touchscreen is very responsive and I love that it's a 2-in-1. It's the perfect sizing, not too big or bulky. It also has beautiful display and great battery life compared to my last laptop. The fingerprint reader is awesome too. The only thing I wish it had was a place to hold the stylus it comes with bc I lose things very easily. Other than that I would say this laptop is worth every cent I paid for it.

I purchased this to replace a Chromebook & I’m really happy with it. Very lightweight, sharp screen images, good battery life, comfortable keyboard, fast processing. I would have given 5 stars but this laptop has only USBc ports which meant I had to order adapters before I could connect to my mouse or my 2nd screen .. I didn’t realize this before I purchased. I would have still purchased but I would have added the adapters from the start. Having to wait to get them had an impact on my productivity.

I was searching for a lightweight, portable personal laptop to use for basic tasks (email, reading books and news, watch Netflix/movies) at home and while traveling. I write a lot, so I was reluctant and unhappy with most tablet+keyboard options and also dissatisfied at the high price once you added the detachable keyboard, etc. This laptop has been the perfect fit - it has a decently thin profile, is lightweight, and the screen is very clear and high quality. Movies/shows look great. The speakers are not amazing but do the job for music and watching TV, plus has headphone jack for personal use. I also really enjoy the dual touch-screen/regular laptop combination, especially nice for scrolling through news/books. The screen also flips around entirely to make it a nice tablet-like device for stationary viewing.
Overall, I am very happy with this laptop and its versatility, especially for the price. You would be hard pressed to find something similar in this range.

I bought this laptop for the day-to-day work and home use. A lot of Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, videos, email and web browsing. All of these things it does well (writing this review from it now).
Pros:
- Very light weight
- Bright and colorful screen
- Can charge from and of the three USB-C ports
- Comes with a pen (mine was broken out of the box)
- Upgrade-able storage
- Backlit keyboard
Cons:
- Gets a bit toasty when used a lot
- Mine had some OS related issues out of the box
- WiFi is kinda slow (I have gigabit speeds and average 800mbp/s in my office, its not my WiFi)
- Fan can get loud-ish
- Edges are sharp
I'd still recommend this to anyone doing regular school or office work, but nothing else. It overheats even on small games (Minecraft) and when editing videos. But for the regular work it's great. Very portable, and I LOVE the display.

It is a great size, super fast, and really fun to use. The pen comes with it which is great and is easy to use for note taking. Powers up as soon as you open it and the fingerprint reader is nice. Keyboard is super comfortable and reminds me of a MacBook keyboard! I really hope this lasts me for a long time, it is exactly what I wanted for a college laptop. Only thing that scared me at first was if you use the laptop while it is charging, it becomes extremely burning hot and loud with the fan- I assume because it is a powerful charger. Once you unplug it, it is extremely quiet and does not get hot. The battery life is amazing. Overall it is amazing!

I Absolutely Love This Laptop, So Far So Good. The Only Downside (And Its Not Really A Big Deal) Is The Speakers Is Not Really That Loud And Its A Down firing Speaker. Another Thing Is The Camera Is Not Really That Good, Its A 720p Camera And The Pictures And Videos Comes Out Kind Of Grainy. But Other Then That I Love This Laptop, The Battery Lasts Very Long, Movies And Videos Looks Very Crisp, the Processer Is Fast. I Love That I Can Fold It Back And Turn It Into Tablet Mode, And The Pen That Comes With It Is Great For Drawing And Coloring.

This laptop looks and feels great in the hand. First of all I have found no perfect laptop. The let downs with this one are: 1. The screen could be brighter and higher resolution. 2. No USB A port, so just using a thumb drive will need a USB C to A adapter (not included) There are Thunderbolt 3 ports so this unit goes from one extreme to the other. 3. This is a big one for me. The writing/drawing on the screen is not as good the other Samsung laptops. I believe this laptop uses the Wacom EMR technology instead of Samsung's S Pen tech. The included pen is a full size pen and not the small S Pen that can store inside the laptop. There is a bit of writing jitter when drawing at angles and going slow. The Microsoft Surface products and other S Pen products do not suffer from this jitter. For quick casual notes and sketches it will be fine. There is a higher level of this notebook released at this same time called the notebook 9 pen that comes with an S Pen. Like I said there are no perfect laptops but the Surface Pro 6 comes close but no Thunderbolt 3 and only 1 USB A port. On the positive side this laptop does have the latest i7 quad core and really great trackpad with Windows precision drivers. Without a great trackpad these computers are worthless (Cough.. Spectre X360) The laptop looks great and can be a real road warrior at a great price point.

This laptop replaced an older Macbook. It had all the features we liked from the Mac: backlit keyboard, metal case, lightweight, compact size. Since it is a lot newer it also has added bonuses such as touch screen, great monitor resolution, and the smart pen. This isn't a heavy gaming computer but it fits the bill for basics.

So far I have been very satisfied with my laptop, the battery lasts very long, it is very silent and fast and I can see it lasting a long time. It is very light and it doesn't keep a lot of space. Keeping that in mind, I don't think it should be dropped ever, it seems fragile but I love it nonetheless. Very recommended.
