Had this monitor for over a year and right after the one year mark and warranty end period, a big dark shadow effect appears in the middle of the screen. Samsungs website requires me to pay 150 dollars as a repair cost. This type of problem should not be occurring on a 300 dollar monitor from samsung, which is a relatively reliable brand as I have gotten many tvs from them.

Final thoughts: If you have the money to spend extra, I would encourage you to just get the G7 since it does everything the G5 does, only better, and it also does everything the G5 doesn't do. If you really just want to take advantage of the price point, the G5 should service you well enough. As a gaming monitor, it has a lot of nice features that do as they say they do. But it also has a lot of ho-hum features. As a desktop application monitor--it works. But you will probably be better off with a monitor that has a better color-gamut, brightness level, and also a flat panel. The best thing about this product is it isn't actually terrible crapola, it is better than most options actually, but also has a great price point.
Full review:
It's a good monitor for the price point. I mean it just depends on what your needs are. I do a lot of Word-Processing and I occasionally play video games. I would say I am about 70% Word-Processing and 30% video games. Most of the games I play are not performance-hog games--though I do play a few of those from time to time.
That said: The screen feels like it is very dark. I cannot quite get comfortable with it. Like it is very bright with brighter/lighter surfaces but a little too dark with dark surfaces. Hard to explain what I mean:
You know how it is hard to see a part of a movie or game where the scene takes place at night time, but you are watching during the daytime with the lights on--you cannot see what is happening on the screen well? That. This monitor does better in low-light environments. But is not very good in bright light. I typically work with a light on no matter what. So... ehhh...
I am also not 100% confident about the colors. I've messed with all the on-board settings and my NVidia settings until I am blue in the face. The colors are fine enough, I guess. But I like something with a little more... just more. To be fair, I have not accurately calibrated anything. But I do not believe the monitor is rated with a very high gamut in the first place.
HDR is available. It is just okay.
Point is, performance-wise, the screen is good. You'll get your frames in your games. But some of the extras like brightness and color-gamut leave something to be desired.
The curve in my estimation does not matter. What I mean is, it was interesting to experience it since I have never had a curved monitor. But in hindsight, I would say it is not a very practical solution for people who do a lot of desktop productivity. I would rather have a flat-panel monitor, frankly. Though, I do not count this against the score. It is just a personal preference. The curvature works fine--I'm just not that into it.
The size of the screen feels okay for my needs. However, I would not blame you for wanting a little extra. The 32' variant might be a little better if you sit further from your screen than I sit from mine. However, I understand that 27' is ideal for 1440p Resolution.
It's not the be-all-end-all monitor. But for the price... I mean Best Buy has floor models that make me scratch my head why anyone would bother buying those (which cost more) when this is just better.

Excellent for the price I paid. This 27” gaming monitor is ideal for my setup. The curve is really nice and gives some relief to my eyes after spending a lot of time using my computer or playing games. The picture quality is pretty nice too. Gives me more than 1080, even though it doesn’t give me 4K my other monitor provides that. Mainly bought this one for the higher hz which is better for when I’m gaming. The design is sleek and fits on my desk well. Doesn’t have speakers but I use my headphones most of the time so that doesn’t bother me. Would recommend!

I really love this monitor. The screen is large, have a really nice curve to it, the 1440 resolution is crisp and its an all around upgrade over my old 1080p Asus monitor that I had. I never realized how dim it was until I got this monitor from Samsung. I would have given it 5 stars except for:
The stand is cheap. You cant adjust anything with the stand, it has a large footprint and jut feels cheap all the way around. Definitely an oversight by Samsung for such a nice monitor.
Im also having a problem when playing Battlefield 1. The game usually looks STUNNING, especially on this monitor - but about half the time I load the game, the screen looks overly bright in white areas and the contrast is way out of whack. It almost looks like the HDR has gone crazy. Sometimes I could get it to work properly by turning off/on the monitor, or tabbing back to windows then back into the game but lately that hasnt worked either. The only way I can get it to look correctly now is to run the game in windowed mode which reduces FPS and prevents Freesync mode, both of which are very beneficial to gaming. Anyone else have this issue? Samsung can you respond?

It’s a good monitor if you have a PS5. I do have to say, over time the top of the screen started to detach from the panel and light would start to bleed through the top, it only lasted me 2 years. It cracked eventually on its own, I guess because it’s a curved monitor idk. Was expecting to get more out of it. But can’t complain because I got the money back, thank you 4-year geek squad protection. Regardless good memories were made and for the price it was a steal at the time.

The G5 is a very good monitor for its price. That having been said, you get what you pay for. It has very vibrant colors and a good refresh rate. If you do your research concerning the video and image settings you can get a decent gaming experience. The only thing keeping me from giving this monitor a 5 star rating is the poor HDR performance, which I do NOT recommend using. I have my monitor combined with an MSI ventus 3X geforce RTX 3070 together giving an exceptional gaming experience. However, if I had to do it over again I would pay the extra money for a better monitor with a more advanced panel and perhaps a wider aspect ratio.
