I have these all over my house. Battery lasts forever and I rarely get false alarms. I have this tied to my main water line to shut off if it detects water

The positive is that this was very easy to add to my existing system. It is also very easy to test the device to make sure it functions properly. (Just touch a wet finger to the two metal contacts on the bottom of the sensor. Then the app shows wet on the device screen.) My SmartThings devices have been installed since the second week of January, it is now early April. Before I installed the water sensor, my closest device - a Multipurpose sensor is less than four feet away. In the first four days the water sensor went down to 77% battery. My multipurpose sensor was at 88%, now it's down to 66%. Before purchasing this virtually all of the original devices have held at 88%. I really hope I just purchased a water sensor with a weak battery, rather than a device which is going to be a vampire drainer to other devices in addition to itself. I really thought the battery it uses would last longer than the coin style other devices use. I'm putting a NO as a recommendation because this device hasn't proven itself to me in the week I've had it. It's only disappointed me. The other device I purchased the same day (a different multipurpose sensor) is still at 100%.

I have it placed I the upstairs laundry room. Tested it with a little bit of water in a saucer and it triggered the alarm as expected. You hope this sensor never gets triggered for real but if it does seconds count and early discovery is essential to minimizing the damage.

this is the only zwave device connected to my smarthings hub that will not work consistently. very disappointed. called samsung support # of time and got it to work and then it fails. samsung support wanted me to trouble shoot many more times before they would send a replacement. so i threw it out and will NEVER buy a samsung zigbee device. However, the Samsung hub is great.

Very happy with these sensors. Super easy to set up and link with the samsung hub. After about 10 months, I'm still at 100% battery!

This thing proved its worth right away. I put it in place near my toilet on the second floor and set it up through Smart Home Monitor. Wouldn't you know it... 3 weeks later it sent me a text stating there was a leak. I checked it out and found a puddle under that back of the toilet (it was hard to see). I called the plumber who confirmed that my wax seal was worn and needed to be replaced. He said I was very lucky that I spotted the leak right away or else the flooring (and 1st floor ceiling) would have been damaged over time.

Does exactly what it supposed to. I install the sensor inside my sump pump and it already came in handy. Save me thousands of dollars.

I had a leak in my attic from my air conditioner which caused extensive damage. After my insurance claim, I decided to install one on these little guys. Super helpful. I don't worry about having another leak up there.

Works as intended! Extremely easy to pair with the SmartThings hub. Was able to test the sensor out prior to installing under my dishwasher! Battery appears to work as described (batteries work on a tiered system...100%, 75%, etc.). It's been about a month and a half and the battery is reading 75%. Just a tip: set the sensor on top of paper towels so that you increase the surface area that the sensors cover (water will easily travel through the paper towels and to the sensor).

Peace of Mind after a leak

Recently, our fridge sprung a leak in the back near the water line. Luckily we were home and took care of the issue within 30 minutes. However, it was amazing how much water this little leak caused. If we were not home, I can only imagine the damage it would have caused. I recently started looking into water sensors to notify us of such a problem the future. I plan to buy a few of these and place them near the dishwasher, washer, hot water heater and the refrigerator. The peace of mind is worth every penny!

Using by my Sump Pump in the basement to notify and text me via SmartHub if water sensed. In simulated tests worked as claimed. Can even couple with IFTTT to get a phone call. What more do I want?

I bought 3 of these on sale. I also got the hub on sale. So far it’s working out great. I do a lot of plumbing work at home myself. I’ve also had water leak accidents before. I tested these for the slightest water level and they send me notifications on my app wherever I am. The hub has backup batteries, so minor power outage is no issue. I think these serve my purpose better than any others in the market. I am waiting to get another 5 to go on sale!

We have lived in our current house for seven years and I have never had a water leak or water leak detector. I bought this one to go with my Smart things system. Within about three days it detected a leak around my water heater. I was immediately notified by the sensor. Wow. I was so glad I had the notification. Otherwise it may have been days or weeks before I opened the closet where the water heater is located.

    Nice Zigbee leak sensor

I use a Smartthings hub as the center of my home automation, so adding a couple of water leak sensors to the setup seemed like a good idea. Most of my sensors use Zigbee. I use one leak sensor in the basement to alert to any overflow from the sump in case of a pump failure. The other is used in the laundry room behind the washer. Years ago, the hose supplying water to the washer leaked requiring the flooring to be replaced, I tested the sensors by placing a few drops of water on the kitchen counter and placing the sensors over the spill. In about a second or two, the sensors showed the wet condition. This is a battery powered device, so battery status must be monitored, replacing the batteries when necessary. Otherwise, the sensors might not trigger when required. Uing IFTTT, a SMS can be sent to your cell phone if the water leak sensor triggers. I have also connected an Aeotec doorbell chime/siren to my Smartthings Hub. It has the capability of playing alert messages when a sensor is triggered. A custom device handler is required for this connection. I use the Smartthings Community Rule Engine (CoRE), to play the correct "leak detected" alert if moisture is detected.

I use this sensor in my basement to alert me of a water leak from my hot water tank, furnace, pressure tank or from water entering through the basement door. After seven months the battery is still strong and should last a lot longer. I also use it to notify me if the temperature in the basement falls below a preset temperature. This gives me peace of mind that the furnace is still working when I have left town on vacation.

My wife and I noticed a leak in our house but just couldn't find where it was coming from. I already have SmartThings in my home so we bought this so that it would alert us when there was new water and we could identify the source. This did its job immediately. Now we will use this below our water heater in our basement and feel comfortable knowing that it will do its job.

I had a water two months ago and cause lots headache. Recently I bought three for my the bathrooms. I like them for they are pretty cheaper and the software interface is easy to configure and neat. I do find issue with them: the app lost connections with some devices from time to time and I have to restart the Smarththing, sometimes multiple times, to re-connect them to the router.

I bought this for my basement where the water/well comes into my house. That connection had failed at my previous home and flooded my basement so I thought it would be good to get this for my house. I tested it and it worked very well. So peace of mind that could save me a lot of time and money in the future. Highly recommended. Works well with my Samsung SmartThings Hub/system.
