This is just what I wanted for storage of our photographs. Its small and unobtrusive, fast, reasonably priced, and I expect will be very reliable because its solid state, no moving parts.

Fast, small and 2 TB of solid state memory. I have a couple of T5 drives and the newer T7 has a slightly bigger footprint, but is thinner. The size difference is very small and this will definitely be my 'go to' for large backups. Amazing technology!

This little 2TB External SSD is great! It works as intend and is relatively transferring large files over USB A. However it is mind-blowingly quick when transferring files over USB C. Although this is a great external SSD the price for this is just absurd and there are cheaper options out there for someone who is on a budget.

Samsung makes the best storage, hands down. This is a great size for backing up your entire hard drive and then some. Backups are very fast. If you use the encryption do not forget your password. Samsung has software to recover but it's buggy and if there's a firmware update it will not work.

Purchased a 2TB T7 to replace a 500GB Samsung T5 portable SSD which was running out of space. Runs a bit warmer and is a bit longer but thinner than the T5. It also seems to be a little pickier with USB cables than the T5 (T5 never had an issue with my USB C to A adapter or any cable but my T7 does not work well with it although included cables work fine). Crystal Disk Mark speed test shows speeds as advertised but only for smaller files. For larger files the speeds seem closer to the T5. The T5 and T7 are both fast enough for me and you really can't beat the form factor for convenience of these drives.
One thing to be aware of, the Samsung T7 and T7 touch series use new software, which is different from the old version still required to use with the older drives. I now have both the Samsung SSD Software (original for my T5 which I still use) and the new Samsung SSD V1.0 software for my T7 on my desktop PC, Microsoft Surface and all my phones. I am not sure who at Samsung thought this confuaing naming convention or requiring different apps was a good idea but it is confusing, eapecially when I cant read the full name of the app on my phone and have to guess which one I need to launch. If I had known they require me to use two different (but similarly named) apps to unlock the drives, I might have stuck with the T5 for now so I am deducting a star from my review. Hopefully Samsung can make it so all of their drives use the same app.
Small and fast beats my old clunky external hard d

Unbelievably small and lightweight. Seems pretty fast. Having two different USB cords is a plus as my MacBook is pretty old. I would recommend this very portable hard drive. I just wish solid state wasn’t so expensive.

Using this incredibly fast storage device with my Macs has made life much easier. Setup was a no brainer and reading from and writing to this device is done in the blink of an eye. I’m moving 10GB files in seconds. Device is tiny yet sturdy and doesn’t run hit most at all.

This drive lives up to its advertisement. It's the same size as a credit card but only thicker. It's lightening fast. Even on my 10 year old desktop I tested it and using the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C to C cable (I have a PCIe Type C USB Card installed) the read/write constantly exceeds 725mbps. Using the USB 3 connection it consistently tested at 425 mbps. Could not be happier.
One side note. The cables that come with it are very short, maybe 6 to 8 inches. I purchased a 3ft USB Type C to C cable. Be sure it is rated at "10Gbps" to get the highest speeds. I didn't pay attention to the speed when I bought my cable and got one rated at 480mbps and had to exchange it. Also, if you want to maintain the higher speeds only use cables 3 feet or shorter. Based upon research, once you get a longer cable the speed starts to slow down considerably.

Using this as an external SSD for my 2020 MacBook Pro. I have the 2TB version, I partitioned 1TB for a backup drive, and I use the other 1TB for other things, and it’s partitioned in exFAT so I can use it with Mac or Windows. This SSD is great, it is fast, reliable, and does everything I need it to. I have another of these SSD’s that I use on my PS5, and the speed appears to be the same whether I am playing a PS5 game in the internal hard drive or playing a PS4 game from this external SSD. It’s a bit pricey, but not too bad, and it’s expected, since quality made products are often expensive. For what I use this for it is great, I am sure there are other applications that it probably wouldn’t be great for, but I am using one for general computer storage and 1 for gaming, and both do exactly what I need them to do.

Nice, small, fast, and got it on sale for $99 (Black Friday 2023). May never see that price again, but if I do, I'm buying four more! Right now, at $169, it's too expensive!

I purchased this drive to be able to bring various files along with me when not at home, This is good if you have limited disk capacity and no network connectivity to any cloud services.
I formatted the unit in APFS to work with a 16" M1 Pro MacBook. I added several containers (think partitions) to store data in easy to retrieve locations.
Data transfer times are very fast between this device and the MacBook. Keep in mind the speed of your computer's main disk device and the interface on the machine you will be using this with.
I purchased the unit on sale, which made it a very good buy.
If 2TB is too large, the units are offered in 1TB and 500GB. Units with slower transfer times are available as well.

I use this drive for video editing on my iMac with Adobe Premiere. It's fast and it takes up very little room on my desk. It comes with two cables, a regular USB and a USB-C. They're only about 14" long, so your drive won't be very far from your computer.

So far I've downloaded about 60,000 pictures from my Nikon D750, and have randomly played back a few of them. The T7 2TB works very quickly in both directions, and the playback into Photoshop is 100% true to the originals. I haven't dropped the T7 yet, but it appears to be pretty bullet proof. It is a bit more expensive than others of the same volume.

This is invaluable to have. Cant tell you how many times i have carted this around with me to get files back in forth to where i need them. 2 TB works great, can be used as a Time Machine backup, but why GO Raid.
As a Portable drive this is fantastic. 2 TB is the right amount of storage to get anything you could possible image from point a to point b.. I am using this as a Sample Storage for Music studio (AND YES, samples can take up a TB or two easy) but also music score info.. This cuts down on having to carry so much clutter with me.. Simply fits in the pocket and off i go.. When i use it for my IT stuff i can keep just about all the code i need for reference along with ANY MSDN docs and installs. Perfect companion for on the go.

Works great as extended storage for Playstation systems. On PS4, it's recognized right away and ready to use after formatting to the system, and games loaded onto the T7 load quickly and run smoothly.
If you intend to use it only with PS4, you can save some money by getting the T5 instead, as the 3.0 USB ports on PS4 are unable to allow the T7 to reach its top transfer speeds. But if you intend to use the external ssd with the PS5, then the T7 is more worthwhile because that system can support the top transfer speeds through USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection. Tests I found online show that PS4 games stored on the T7 with PS5 load and perform just as well as when those games are stored on the system's internal storage. A worthwhile investment to play and preserve your PS4 games for the new gen.
