EVERYTHING WORKED GREAT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. THE UPSCALING IS A MARKED IMPROVEMENT OVER MY LAST DVD PLAYER. I ONLY HOPE THEY START RELEASING SOME GOOD MOVIES IN 4K SOON PLUS UPSCALING THE OLDER MOVIES TO 4K . TITANIC, HARRY POTTER, FROZEN, ETC. SEEMS TO ME THE MORE MOVIES IN 4K AVAILABLE THE MORE REASON TO GET A 4K TV AND THE PLAYER TO PLAY THEM. THE SIZE OF THE REMOTE AND LACK OF FUNCTIONS IS THE ONLY REAL DOWNSIDE

Picture quality is excellent, as is the audio quality too. It up converts 1080p into 2160p without many of the artifacts found on other upscale bluray players on the market. The player is fast and very responsive. UHD discs look amazing, even without HDR. Over all I'm happy with my purchase.

I love this 4K/BluRay/DVD player. It's amazing, but the main menu and remote leave much to be desired; they seem a little too dumbed down. doesn't hold my place on some of the newer TV series and BluRay/4K discs (although that one could be the disks themselves.) ...but my picture quality is fantastic and that's what counts!

1. Sony XBR75940C, 4k tv HDR 2. XBOX One 3. Samsung 4k Player (deep colors and 24p disabled/enabled) It is possible that test results are skewed due to upconversion capabilities of the tv itself. I played Martians 4k version out of Samsung player and the blueray version out of XBOX. I switched back and forth comparing same scenes. First HDR was a total disappointment. made little difference between 4k player and xbox one, maybe more testing needed. Second 4k carries more detail however evident only if come very close to a 75" tv. for example shadow of a cloud in the distance is well displayed from 4k source and distorted block pixels with blueray, however as one gets away from tv over 3/4 feets then clouds look the same. last i used the blueray version from PS3 to play on a 55" Samsung Tv (8 Series 2010 Model) and frankly it looked good. So Basically I am sure I am not getting HDR. I used HDMI 2.2 cable from Player to tv and HDMI cable to AUdio system. Under this configuration HDMI to tv does not carry sound and have to use audio system.

I bought this 4K Blu-ray player to watch my ever growing library of 4K movies. Was so easy to setup and has all the smart features you could ever want. I have this hooked up to a Samsung tv and they are pees in a pod. You no longer need to switch sources when you turn the player on it switches for you and when you turn it off it goes right back to the last setting. just amazing. The price is high but its a ground floor item, if budget is a issue hold off till cheaper ones come out. A NOTE : you will need a HDMI 2.0 cable to watch 4K, and a 4K tv neither of witch come with this player.

While reading reviews for this before I bought one, there was a lot of talk about the size and plastic-y appearance of the player. While it is bigger than your standard player, it's not that big. It also doesn't look any more plastic-y than other blu- ray player. That aside, the player is easy to setup and screens are easy to navigate. It boots up fast and the 4K picture is amazing! I have watched 3D blu-rays on it and it worked beautifully. Ensure your cables are up to snuff for watching 4K!!

I absolutely love this 4K Bluray player. It not only plays the new 4K format but its backwards comparable with all other Bluray, Bluray 3D, DVD, and CD formats. And it will upscale your Non 4K Blurays also. The picture cominout of this player is incredible. I can tell a difference in the standard to 4K difference thanks to my 4K Samsung TV. It is just as comparable with any other TV with 4K as well. Samsung's UBD-K8500 4K player has two (2) HDMI outputs. One of these HDMI is for audio only. The second has both audio and video. They do this so that if you don't have a HDMI 4K passthru you can connect the audio only to it and connect the second to your TV and still enjoy Incredible picture and incredible surround sound. I think Samsung has thought it all thru. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I decided that for Christmas this year we were going to "get each other" a new television. A lot of research later we settled on a Samsung 4K UHD, 55 inch model to replace our aging Samsung LED model. We were delighted with the upgrade in picture quality with the new television. But....to take full advantage of the dramatic improvement in picture quality I decided "what the heck" and upgraded our existing Bluray player with the UBD K8500. Netflix has a decent amount of 4K programming (and is increasing it seemingly by the day) and I also purchased "Sicarios" and the latest "Independence Day" movies on 4K discs. I don't have the words to describe: -how easy it was to install the player. -how seamlessly it pairs with the Samsung television. -the quality of the picture; even a traditional blu-ray disc is dramatically better in terms of picture quality. -the way this player hit the "sweet spot" in terms of price/features/value for the entertainment dollar. I'm an inveterate researcher when I'm making purchases of items I intend to use a lot and own for a sustained period of time. I like to be confident in my decisions and find I can ask store sales personnel more insightful questions while I'm "kicking the tires" in the store. All that work ahead of time helped me make decisions that both my wife and I are delighted with. You might be able to pay more, I'm not sure you'll find a better value.

Very easy setup. Works seamlessly with my Samsung SU TV. The 4K picture will blow you away. Much better than 4K streaming. The selection of movies is limited, but like Blu-ray will increase over time.

I got this player to go with a new receiver and 4K HDR tv. I put a movie in last night and I was blown away at the depth and color that comes out with an HDR system. There isn't much to say beyond best picture ever! The BD player is solid and looks great. I love the curved front. Player and remote are easy to use. It works just like any other BD player except the output is 4K HDR. Keep in mind you need a 4K HDR capable tv to enjoy this player to its fullest.

I bought this to go with my new Samsung UHD 4K TV. I have not yet found any 4K DVDs that I would want to watch. But all my blue ray DVDs look and sound quite a bit better. The unit gets pretty warm, but has a fan to cool it. The only 4K content I have seen so far was on U Tube or Netflix and that consisted of mostly demo clips. I did have one issue last night where a blue ray DVD from Netflix would not play in it. It tried for quite awhile then rejected it saying it didn't meet specifications. Never saw that before, and the DVD played just fine on my Sony blue ray player.

See the difference. I uploaded 2 images, one side is a blu ray screen shot, the other half is 4K UHD .. You can see the difference. Also this blu ray player upscale blu rays very well. It is very spicy in price right now but i am glad to get it.

Great player, nice looking design and most important a solid working 1st to market 4K Blu-ray player. I've watched over 10 UHD Blu-ray discs and it performs flawless.

The picture quality is awesome, almost unreal. And the fact that it has 2 HDMI ports is a big plus as well. Only thing I don't like is the size of the remote and it has no front display. But other than that, I love it.

I bought this about a week ago and cannot rave enough about the quality of the picture on my Samsung JS8500, which I also recently purchased. I just finished watching Kingsman as well as Hitman Agent 47 on 4K UHD and I could not believe how clear the picture was. I felt as though the actors were with me in my living room. I know the discs and player are expensive at this point, but I feel they are definitely worth the investment!

I've been waiting for this to match my 4K projector. UHD movies are stunning and the upscaling of BluRay is absolutely amazing. Nice to see 2 HDMI out, which should help those that don't have a proper 4K setup. Unit size is rather big for a BluRay Player (just look at the Sonys to see what I'm talking about) and can do without the curvature that adds no value, but I have it in an AV cabinet so it's not an ongoing eyesore. Very fast startup with a minimalist display. Typical Samsung Gen 1 player that won't disappoint. Just hope it lasts longer than my last Sammy.

Samsung UBD-K8500 UHD 4k bluray player. This is what you need to watch all the new 4k HDR blurays that are now available, along with a 4k, UHD, HDR capable display. Has the usual built in apps like Amazon, Netflix, VUDU, etc. Quick start up, and will up rez your 1080p blurays to 2160p, which does an awesome job. The only complaint I have, is the remote is very small, and very small buttons and it is not backlit.

I cannot believe i found this product on Feb 15 at my local Best Buy!! It is still hard to find everywhere!! Unreal picture even on my non HDR 4K UHD Samsung 7100 TV, my favorite feature is that i may choose the audio playback setting of Dolby Digital 5.1 Reencode from the players audio settings so i may receive 5.1 surround on any new Blu-ray 4K disc even on my SONOS theater system, even if it is DTS 7.1, i still get awesome Dolby Digital 5.1 no matter what format!! You may also Zoom any new Blu-ray disc movie to full screen too!! Thumbs up to this player!! It rocks on 3D content too!!

As long as you have a true 4K set-up (4K receiver, TV with HDR ability, and HDMI 2.0 or better cables) this 4K bluray player is a no brainer. Absolutely stunning to look at your favorite 4K movies with (unfortunately there isn't a great selection of them at this time, but that doesn't diminish what this hardware can do). Yes it is a little pricey, but worth it if you are a movie lover.

I would give this unit 5stars but it's so expensive I only give it 4. I guess if you are the only manufacturer that produces a true 4k bluray player that actually plays 4k Blu-ray discs you can charge whatever you want. the upscale feature is great to for non 4k so it makes my Bluerays look like 4k.
