Customers highly value the Ixpand 10W Qi Certified Wireless Charging Pad's convenient backup feature, noting its ease of use and speed in restoring photos and contacts. The charging pad's size is also appreciated, accommodating larger phone models. However, some users found the backup process and compatibility with certain phone cases to be problematic, citing difficulties with transferring files and charging phones with thicker cases. Improvements to the backup process and broader compatibility would enhance user experience.

Wireless Charging & Backup In One

I love the convenience of a wireless charger and hate the limited space on my phone (I take a lot of pictures and videos). This charger offers a way to free up space and protect my files in case something happens to my phone without paying for a file storage service or having to connect to my computer.
Pros
- It charges both my iPhone 8 and my wife’s iPhone 11 quickly with TPU cases (30-40% per hour).
- I leave this on my desk and use it while working in between calls - not having to constantly unplug to take a call is great.
- 6ft power cord is convenient
- Charges without the Ixpand app installed
- Charge status indicating light is useful
- Automatic backup of files from my iPhone using the Ixpand app worked perfectly in the background and setup was easy.
- You don’t have to create an account to use the automatic backup feature unless you want to secure your files from other users of the same charger - you only need the device password provided the first time you link the charger (save this separately from the phone, because it is needed if you reinstall the app).
Things to Consider
- The file backup feature works via your WiFi network - this is good because it means the phone doesn’t have to be on the charger, just near it - the disadvantage is that the backup feature only works when your charger is on the your WiFi network (if you take it to work or school it will not sync until you are back home).
- You can’t access sync’d files unless you are near the charger on your WiFi - so you can only offload files you won’t need on the go.
- My iPhone 8 never had an issue charging - just toss it on the charger, but my wife’s larger iPhone 11 would only charge reliably in one direction - not an issue once I figured this out and it might be that her case is also a little thicker than mine.
- Your phone gets warm while using this device - not much hotter than the normal charger, but the instructions recommend using it in a cool place.
This charger works well and delivers on the promise of easy file backup without making you create yet another account, but I wish that I could access some of my files on the go and I wish it worked regardless of orientation for my wife’s iPhone 11.

Practical Convenience

This is really two devices in one.
The obvious is that it's a wireless charger and also it's a wireless storage for your phone.
Unlike most other wireless chargers, this is a large pad that covers all the back of the phone. Because it's so large, and slightly curved, the phone sits on it without too much fuss in getting the right alignment.
It's rated for 10W so it charges the phone relatively fast.
The wall plug is relatively small and flat, which is nice, but uses a barrel plug to the pad instead of an USB connector, so that's the only charger that would work with this pad.
The second aspect is that it's a wireless drive that's used for backups. It's set up via the Ixpand charger app (from the Apple or Google App stores). The bottom of the charger has a QR code with the link to the right app.
The drive is a 128 Gb memory. It's paired initially using Bluetooth to the phone and then once the app finds the charger, it sets up WiFi (2.4 Ghz only) with the charger.
It allows to back up all photos or a group of them, and contacts.
It doesn't back up anything else on the iPhone (No app settings, etc).
It would allow one to forego a cloud backup plan for photos, and use the free tier instead for everything else, keeping photos (and contacts) backed up locally and privately.
It allows syncing multiple phones, only limited by the internal 128 Gb storage, which is not expandable.
Although it's a wireless drive, I could not connect to it from a desktop computer over WiFi, although it has an USB connector which makes it accessible as an USB drive.
It gives a choice to encrypt the backups, but in order to do so requires to create an account so it can be used to recover the data if the password is lost, and also warns that encrypted backups take twice as much.
The app also asks for location settings to it tries to back up on the background only when the charger is nearby. It also mentions they do not store the data, and it's only used to initiate backups.
The app is well designed and simple to use.
Also, so things won't overheat, it will alternate between charge and backup, won't do both at once.
Overall it works very well for backup while using it for a few days so far. The key to this device is convenience.
It might not be for everybody as encryption requires an account and it's optional, or that the drive is not available to a laptop wirelessly and it’s not expandable. However for something that has to be simple and does what it needs to do as simply as possible, this works well.

Peace of mind with a charge!

When it comes to critical data that I don’t ever want to loose such as family pics, or vacation shots or work documents I snap or screen shots of important things, redundancy is the key. True the cloud has them, but they are not on site and in hand. Ultimately having an in hand approach to my data is the safest way to ensure that a once in a lifetime “glitch” doesn’t leave you with nothing! I know I know…not likely but the small chance it did…now that would be devastating to me!
This Ixpand Charger Sync is really a great addition to my data redundancy to ensure that never happens. I wirelessly charge anyway everyday why not let my charger do a backup as well without any effort or thought on my part! Brilliant Sandisk! I also really like that it will back up my contacts as well as photos. It’s a 10W charger so it’s plenty fast enough for me. I charge over night anyway so 5W to 7.5W speeds or even 15W with other options really don’t make a difference. It’s the fast charge with backup that’s the real winner for me with this Sandisck Ixpand.
I opened it up and after a few minutes it was off and running. I have a Defender Pro case on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and zero issues. The unit itself is thinner than I thought it would be and has a nice non slip coating on the bottom. So when you place it by your night stand it will stay there. Plenty of cable to run to an outlet and it just looks cool!
The app downloaded easily and then it paired to my phone after that it synced to my wifi and the phone on the same wifi. It gave me a one time pin for privacy so be sure to screen shot or stick in a password app for future use if you need to install again. So easy!
If you charge wirelessly…do yourself a favor and let Sandisk Ixpand charge you up AND also secure your precious pics! I have lost pics in the past, pre-cloud days, and it still pains me today thinking about pictures of precious people and times gone for ever!
Awesome product Sandisk!! I highly recommend!

A surprising and thoughtful device

We all appreciate the convenience of wireless charging. We all want our wireless charging devices to be fast and easy to use. Fortunately this covers those bases.
What makes this interesting is the onboard storage that allows the device to actively back itself up while charging. It's really a unique feature that makes this stand out. It is uncomplicated and really a useful feature in a field full of basically the same idea. Everyone is always worried about losing their photos and videos from this device and this really makes doing that effortless.
Initially the unboxing and setup is nothing special. Open the box, plug it in, and it just works, at least for charging. Bear in mind that if you have a case that is too thick or metal, that it will not work, but this is the same with any wireless charging device.
But then comes the interesting part, the automatic backup functionality. The device has 128GB of space on the unit itself and using the app it can automatically backup pictures and videos without any interaction. Installing the app is as straightforward as any other app, for me, I just tossed it on the devices from the Google Play store and it just worked, you didn't even need to create an account (although it gives you the option to do so).
Without any intervention it will automatically backup your pictures and videos, although you can customize that if you choose. While backing up things can use some power, there is an option that allows you to prioritize backing up, or charging, or a balance of the two. It defaults to balancing the two functions, and even with that setting, it charges very quickly.
All in all this is an excellent device, while more expensive than other wireless charging pads, it really makes that extra expense worthwhile.

Won't charge with case on

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have several wireless chargers and a fairly thin case that has never interfered with charging. The first night I used this charging pad, it only charged to about 68%. I chalked that up to the first backup (directions say until a full backup is complete, it will go between charging and backing up). The next day, I was notified that the backup was complete and that night it still did not fully charge. I noticed the light was flashing so I tried taking the case off and the light went solid. After that, it charged quickly. I would prefer to keep my case on for protection I charge throughout the day and I don't want to keep taking the case off and putting it back on again so I end up carrying it around without the case (an accident waiting to happen!)
It is nice to know all my information is backed up (where I don't know! I am not tech-savvy). I have not cleared data off my phone as I am still a little nervous about losing important pictures.
If backing up information is vital to you, this might be worth the cost. If you are looking for a charger, there are less expensive models available without the bells and whistles.

Nice charger but slow on iPhone 11

First impression:
My first impression of the SanDisk iXpand wireless charging pad is that it is very well made. The pad has a solid feel, and the rubber base keeps it from sliding on the counter. The power cord has a good length to it which is nice.
Setup:
Like many new items these days, setup of the charger is done with the app. Unlike many items these days, the user manual for the charger is very well written and very detailed. This is a good thing because the charger is very easy to set up as long as you follow the directions. When setting this charger up with 2 different phones, I deviated from the directions and it ended up with me having to completely wipe everything and start over. So, make sure you follow the directions.
App:
The iXpand charger app is very well designed and easy to navigate and use. It has 3 main tabs across the top. The first is the charging tab. This tab displays the battery charge level, the available memory left on the phone, and the available memory left on the charger. The middle tab displays all of the photos stored on the charger with thumbnails, so you can easily scan through and see each photo; the photos stored on the charger are actual size. The last tab displays all of the backed-up contacts. For myself, these two things are the most important things I want backed up from my phone.
I first tested the charger on a Samsung Galaxy A20. This phone is not listed as a supported phone, but the app was available so I assumed it would work. This was not the case. The app installed and I was able to configure the charger to use the phone, but after 10-15 seconds of charging and backing up, it would error out. So just because the app is available for your phone, if your phone is not listed in the list of supported phones, it probably won’t work.
Charging Performance:
The second phone I configured is my iPhone 11 Pro. This phone is the most difficult phone to charge I have ever used. Most standard phone chargers are not sufficient to charge this phone, and even the USB charger in my Ford F150 requires a special charging hub to support the iPhone 11. I had to pay to have that charger installed in my truck so I could plug it in while driving. So, it doesn’t surprise me that this charger has a very difficult time charging this phone.
Charging time for the iPhone is very long. I never got an actual time because I would leave it plugged in overnight and would need to take it with me in the morning. And this was with the case removed. My iPhone case has metal in it, so I have to remove it to use this charger. This is the same with all wireless chargers when using this case, so it is not a ding on the iXpand charger.
When initially connecting the phone, the charger starts the initial backup. It cycles the backup on and off for a day or so because the backup slows the charging down. On my iPhone, when the iXpand started backing up, the iPhone would actually lose 1 – 2% of its battery level during the backup. It might be a good idea to fully charge your iPhone before going through the initial backup. After the initial backup, the backups go quickly and don’t interfere with the charging.
Backup/Restore Performance:
Backup is an automatic process. Once it finishes the initial backup, it backs up any new photos and contacts when you set the phone on the pad. Unless there are a lot of photos added, this is a quick process.
Restoring photos and contacts is very easy and very quick. For me, this was the shining feature for this charger. The restore happens wirelessly across your WiFi network, so you don’t have to be near the charger. In the app, click on the “Select and Restore” button at the bottom. Go through the photos/contacts you want to restore and select the ones you want to restore. When finished, click on the “Restore” button at the bottom and they will be restored. I deleted 5 photos from my phone. I selected those 5 in the app to be restored, and all of them were restored in less than 5 seconds. If for no other reason, the iXpand wireless charger is worth it for the extremely simple and fast restoration.
Conclusion:
I like the SanDisk iXpand wireless charger. The charger has a solid feel and is well built, the app is easy to navigate and use, the backups are automated, and the restores and extremely easy and fast. If you have an iPhone, just know that the charging times are going to be long, and this charger might best be used to top the phone off rather than bring it to a full charge from a depleted state. That is how I am using it.
I am giving it a 4 out of 5 only because of the extremely slow charging times for the iPhone and the limited phones that are compatible. The fats and easy restores alone make this a 4, and I’m guessing the compatibility list will expand as time goes on.

Simple local backup solution for your phone!
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is a very simple and easy to use local backup solution for your phone. I like that it's big and centers well for charging larger phones like the Note 20 Ultra and the iPhone Pro Max sizes of phones.
In terms of design, it is plain white and has a charge indicator light that is just the right brightness, though something a little cooler/more modern would have looked nice. The charge cable is proprietary and you have to have use a micro USB to connect it to a computer to download things from it to a computer so I do wish that it was a single USB-C PD cable that it used (with USB-C PD charger) so it could be universal and avoid the need for more cables! I have a few things on my nightstand which is where I put it and it fit nicely there and while the power adapter is smaller it still takes up too much room on the power strip (just like nearly every other charger does!). For being a higher end charging device I would expect it to have a little more versatility. I also wish it were more versatile in terms of positions (from laying flat to a configuration that the phone could sit on).
Outside of those things, the charging speed is what you would expect for 10 watt charging and at least on my phone seems to charge at a good pace and adapts to protect your phone (and the charger) from overheating during charging. The backup function works as promised, and does so automatically while charging. The first time takes a bit (depending on how much you have to back up of course) but after that each time thereafter is a relatively quick sync. The app is easy to use and does allow the ability to choose what to backup and of course you can configure profiles for different phones to backup (so it can back up more than one device).
Overall, it does what it says, it charges wirelessly fast and it backs your phone up (photos, contacts, etc.). For being a premium charger, it does seem to lack key features that could really set it apart from just being a "wireless charger with backup". As an example, it would be cool that it by itself was a "cloud" connected device that would store your photos so you could not only back them up to free up space on your phone but still allow you to access them securely anywhere. Frankly there are other solutions devices that offer that like Monument, and all you need with that is a wireless charger and it does the same thing and most phones backup contacts to Google or the iCloud anyway. Knowing that, it's hard to find a compelling reason to get this over one of those other solutions like that. The bonus with that is you get even more storage - wayyyy more!
If you're in the market for just a simple/secure wireless charger that literally only backs up your phone, I could recommend it and there are people that want exactly that nothing more. The hardware is good, it does what is advertised so will give it an average rating with a recommend.
However, I will say that if you want a better solution for backing up photos from your phone, look as there are better options out there like Monument and other devices just like that! For that reason I can't really recommend it outside of that because there are other options that do essentially the same thing in the end with just an ordinary fast wireless charger but better!

Charging with backup works well, but pricey

At first glance, this product seems to make sense. Combine a wireless charger with a device tht backs up photos, videos and contacts stored on your phone. Always good to have a backup, right?
And yes, the iXpand Wireless Charger does everything it claims with relative ease. Albeit requiring the usual drill of downloading an app before doing anything. The app is required to set up the device and make it do what it is designed to do. Which to Sandisk's credit, is far easier than the setup of other similar devices.
But in the end, is all of this really necessary, given that all of your photos, videos and contacts probably already are stored in the cloud somewhere? Most phones do that automatically. Or dumps them to an onboard SD card (outside of the Apple universe) Which makes the hefty price premium attached to this charger a little hard to swallow. Yes it works. But you probably don't really need it.
But let's say you are are a little paranoid about this whole cloud thing. Or for some reason, your phone is not backing up this info somehow. In that case, it makes more sense. This model, with 128GB of storage (256GB is available) is probably more than enough to store everything you have.
The great thing about the IXpand Wireless Charger is it is pretty automatic, once you set it up -- a process that only takes a few minutes. Download the app, follow the step by step prompts. Get the charger and phone synced via your home wi-fi system. Good to go. (Wi-fi not required. iXpand serves as its own wi-fi system if necessary)
Just set your phone on the charger and it automatically begins backing up everything, a process that can take several days (that's right, DAYS) if you have a lot to back up. (Only a few hours for me.)
The device alternates between charging and backing up until everything is done. Overnight charging/backup is recommended, a least initially. Along with a lot of patience.
Regular usage ensures that any new photos, contacts or videos are backed up. And those backup sessions should go much faster.
Multiple phones can back up using the same device, if you set it up use private access.
This is only a 10 watt charger (Samsung and Apple support higher wattage fast chargers) so it is not the fastest one out there. But it is still classified as a Qi certified "fast charger." Phones that do not support fast wireless charging will still work but will charge at the same rate as other low-wattage wireless chargers.
As with most wireless chargers, this one works fine on phones that have thin plastic cases, but not thick ones.
One other bonus is you can use this setup to clear space on your phone after you back it up. That's all done within the iXpand app. So if your phone is running low on storage, this can help solve that problem.
In the end, the iXpand wireless charger with backup works well. You just have to decide if it worth hefty price tag.

Fast Charger and Backups Data

The SanDisk Ixpand Wireless charger offers something more than just charging capability. It also backs up your data at the same time.
It's quite simple to set up: (1) Connect the brick to the included USB cable, (2) Plug in the cable and (3) You're done!
To operate just place your device onto the charger and it automatically begins to charge. With my smartphone, it took just over 3-1/2 hours from empty to a full charge. My previous charger took about 7 hours to do the same. Having a a 10W charger really helps!
I do have a few complaints, however. The unit is somewhat pricey at $130. Most other wireless chargers go for much less.
I was disappointed that there was no manual included. I only needed to know what the LED color lights indicated. The included paperwork only concerned itself with the warranty..
If you're looking for a speedy wireless charger, you should seriously consider this SanDisk model.

Solid Qi wireless charger with backup
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
As far as Qi-based wireless chargers go, the SanDisk Ixpand is a solid choice. It is both aesthetically pleasing and certainly gets the job done.
The biggest difference between this charger and other chargers that I've tested is the fact that it has a certain amount of storage space built in -- my device's storage is 128GB, to be exact. And there are some caveats to that storage option, which is why I rated this four instead of five stars.
First, note that the actual recharging capabilities simply work straight out of the box. Simply place your Qi-enabled device (not Apple Watches; though I don't know if they're strictly Qi-enabled or not) on the charger and it will charge.
Second, in order to have any sort of backup solution, you'll need to download the Ixpand Charger app, because the backup process requires Bluetooth and network access (your device, such as an iPhone, and the Ixpand charger have to be on the same network to fully back up. Here's the thing. The device will move, not copy, artifacts off of your device, and once that process is complete, it should then upload that backup to iCloud (assuming that's how you back yours up). Personally, I don't like that, because to me it means I now have to make sure that two separate places may potentially have data that I want backed up, where it's a lot easier for me to simply have a singular backup via iCloud.
Regardless, you can have multiple profiles on the Ixpand device, including the ability to secure the backups so nobody knows what your profile contains.
Overall, the SanDisk Ixpand is a great device, and if their backup process fits your needs, then once it's set up (the app doesn't have to be open for the backup process to complete), it's good to go.

I really was just looking for a wireless charger that I could use at home and on the go. Then I came across this item. Turns out it also has a local backup option to store your contacts and photos. Genius. I like this for redundancy just in case something happens to my cloud backups, I have my contacts and photos backed up locally too.
The device is good size that my iPhone 11 Pro Max fits just fine on it. I like that it lays flat on the surface. My phone feels very secure and instantly begins charging as soon as I lay it on the mat. I do not have to "find" the right spot. This just works.
The adapter for the way is small which is also nice as it does not take up much room and I can easily plug something else in to the same outlet.
The mat is rated at 10W and I notice it does charge my phone much quicker than my standard charger.
You do need to download the companion app if you want to set up local backups but that was easy, there is a QR code on the bottom of the device that takes you right to the app store for download. From there set up was super easy and straightforward.
Even if you just need a wireless charger this is definitely worth it, but knowing you also have the option for local back ups.... no brainer for me.

I just bought the iPhone 12 and my husband has a Samsung Galaxy S9. We both wanted to try wireless charging. This Sandisk also offers an onboard 128g backup feature so we gave it a try. There is a companion app which my husband found quickly in Google Play. I had a little more trouble because I needed to specify Sandisk in my search. I never got the QR code included in the documentation to get past the cookies. Setup was guided by the app. We had to connect via Bluetooth using the same pairing code provided. We also had to connect to our WiFi. Once that was done we each charged our phones and backed up our contacts and photos. That is pretty nice. The IXpand knows which phone is charging. They do recommend charging over night and that it takes longer to back up and charge the first few times since the backup function can divide the power based on the size of your photo file. My phone was about 50% charged and I only have a few photos so my first full charge only took a couple of hours. Sadly, while both of us have cases that were under the 3mm thickness recommended, they still would not charge with them on. I believe it is because both have “bumper” corners making them not fit flat on the oval shaped charger. There is a small lavender light on the front end that indicates charging. It blinked rapidly when we tried charging with the cases on which indicates not charging. The light is steady when charging correctly and white when finished. One nice feature for me is that my Apple Watch received notifications when the backup completed and when the charging completed. Now we have to decide who gets this nice charger on their nightstand! Maybe Santa will bring one for my husband. Does what it should just be aware that you may have to remove your case.

Was happy to get this product as it kills 2 birds with one stone. My phone was chock full of pics and they needed to be backedup and removed. I have been reluctant to get a Qi charger because you have to take your phone out of the case to use it and I worry that I will be lazy one day or forget to put it back on.
The charging function works great! Just set your phone down and it charges rather quickly. For the backup feature, you need to download their app from the app store as it is the vehicle that downloads your pics to the drive in the base.
Once you get the hang of the app and get the hang of using it (first time using a backup device), it works seamlessly and you can clear up a lot of space on your phone that you can fill with more junk! I recommend this item. Would get again.

SanDisk - Ixpand 10W Qi Certified Wireless Charging Pad for iPhone/Android - White
This is very nice wireless charger that offers great Wi-Fi storage for your phone. It doesn't come with an instruction manual, which you can download the 23 pages (good info here). It is easy enough to plug in and go with the quick start guide. It it good to know that you have extra back-up capabilities with this charger and it downloads photos and videos automatically. You can also down load the app and manage your items there and have different profiles for other members of your family. It is not necessary to do this for the charger to work.
The size of it fits my phone perfectly (Samsung S20+ with a thin rubber case) and charges it as fast as my wired charger. I also am thrilled that is comes with over charge protection because some nights I forget to remove it from the charger - I keep this on my night stand and the 6 foot cord is great. I have noticed that my phone gets warmer using this charger but not warm/hot enough that I am too worried. The placement of my phone is good and there is a light to let you know if it is placed correctly - steady purple light, it blinks if it isn't sitting properly or the firmware is updating.
This charger is priced a little on the high side but it is sturdy, has the phone backup capability and works well.

This is my second wireless charger, using it for my iPhone. Out of the box, this is really straight forward, no fancy wrapping, bells, or whistles, just the charging dock and appropriate cord. No instruction manual is included but can be downloaded.
Note for the actual charging that I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with an otterbox commuter case and was able to charge with the case on. The dock is larger than my other wireless charger and less touchy. You can pretty easily get a charge right away the first time without having to adjust the phone around. There’s a light indicator as well to let you know you’re heading towards a full battery,
The highlight of the device and what separates it from the rest is the backup. Now... I’ve literally never once been paranoid or even given a second thought to the idea of losing data, but... the thought counts here and it can give you the peace of mind knowing that IF something were to go wrong, you’ve got a local backup. You have to download the companion app to take full advantage of this and manage your backup data, but the app was free and easy to use so it’s no big issue.
Overall, I do recommend the product, no real glaring issues and the only reason I didn’t give it the full five stars is that It doesn’t seem to charge THAT fast. Besides that, if you’ve ever been concerned about losing data and want a wireless charger, this is an obvious buy.

I tested this charger with both a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and an LG V40. On the initial use, have your phone charged up beforehand because the first backup will take precedence over charging. Once the back has completed, then the charging will commence. Just wanted to add that note for those who may be dumbfounded why their charger isn't charging.
So, the back-up feature is one of those things that once you have it, you never want to go back. It is fast and efficient and backs up both the sd card (if you have one) and the internal memory. You can set it to auto or manual. Once filled, you can connect to a computer and transfer should you prefer. With Google eliminating unlimited picture/video backup, this is a great step toward creating a "at home" back-up solution.
As for the charging. On both of my phones, I have a Spigen Armor case. The case is 2.54mm and this charger claims to work with cases up to 3mm. Without the cases, the charger picks up instantly. But, with the case, you have to find the perfect spot or you will continue to receive the message "charging has paused." This can be frustrating if you get the initial confirmation of charging, walk away, come back, and the battery is uncharged. So, when I use this charger, I have to lay it perfectly, then stay for 15 seconds to verify continued charging. Now that I have mastered the perfect spot, it's not as bad. Still, it's a nuisance.
Another note: back-up is through Bluetooth/WIFI so the placement of the phone doesn't affect the backup.
So, once again, if you are using a case, make sure you find your "sweet spot" for charging. If you find it, this is a great charger!

I was extremely excited to review this product because it is a great concept. You can charge and backup your phone all while you sleep and with minimal effort. Overall it is a fast wireless charger and it offers simple backup to a built in 128gb internal memory. You have the option to backup, how often to backup, and what you would like to backup. This all works as it should. Unfortunately I cannot give this product 5 stars because it seems to not work for me. When I put my phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max with otterbox Symmetry case) on the charge it shows as charging but then after about 10 seconds it stops charging. I have gotten it to charge for longer but it seems to be hit or miss whether it actually charges my phone. I contacted customer service and they said it could be an issue with my case but I removed the case and the problem was still not resolved. They escalated the issue today but I am still waiting to hear back. I have used other wireless chargers with this phone and case and not had any issues, I am hoping mine is just defective because it is a really awesome product but depending if other people report similar problems I cannot confirm if that is true.

It pains me to write this because I saw so much promise with this product. It works as a charger just fine (but not as fast my plug in charger). First, I had to download the app and make an account to keep this data private in case other phones use this charger. (It will function only as a charger without the app). The ding in stars is from the backup process. Upon first use, it backed up all my data no trouble there. I took the scan disk ixpand and plugged it to my computer so I could copy all the backed up data there and for viewing on a larger screen. The OS on my laptop is Windows 10 and it would not open the files. I knew they were there, but it wouldn't open. I tried installing more software off the website so my computer could open and read the files. That software would not download either. It would say I required a scan disc device. WTH?? So next I spend my time on the phone with tech support. First guy says my data was not on the scan disc. When it clearly showed me all my data had been backed up. The second guy tried to be helpful but no progress was made. I then reformatted the device. My intent was to then redo the backup since reformatting deletes everything. When I put my phone on the ixpand charger, it tells me the back up is complete. However, it won't re-backup my pics or contacts that it just deleted in the reformatting. What a mess. I tried live chat for 30 minutes and that didn't give me answers either. Not user friendly for backup transfer to other devices. Tech support can't help with my issue either. The phone charges on the device, but if it vibrates from an alert it will cause an error and stop charging. Overall, there is a lot to improve on.
