I have used the 8 TB size of their drives for years. These 6TB size are useful when the 8's are unavailable. When I travel, the 6TB size is fine for saving and backing up at my location. Later transfer to the 8TB bank when I return and weather keeps me indoors. My work and leisure involve being in many different environments shooting photos and video up to 4K. Outdoor hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing and diving... Florida's underwater cave systems, rivers, springs and and ocean bays and reefs. I seldom go outdoors without a camera. My diving always has me wearing a camera on my mask. I shoot tourism related events and have accumulated terabytes of photos and video over the decades. As editing software has improved I've found that formerly unusable photos and video now can be brought back to life. This includes WWII era movies converted to video, then enhancing that video to be sharper than the original. I have been using these hard drives for storing raw media, edited and produced videos for my use and client use since these first came out. I now have twelve drives with power strips that allow me to toggle them individually on and off and all connected in two 7-input powered USB hubs that then connect to my working laptop in two USB 3.0 ports. So I am constantly saving media backups and backups of backups. I do it manually. Not religiously enough. But I'm always balancing my adventuring time outdoors and my editing time indoors to weather, seasons and travel. Every time I return from the field, I immediately save raw imagery to the drives, leaving the files on the camera media until I review and backup the hard drive.

I got this Seaate 6 TB usb hard disk to backup our households data laptop computer image files ETC. What nice is that while you have plug the drive into a USB port. This model drive has built in 2 port usb hub on the front which means means whiles you are working with the drive in one usb port you may also use the ports on the front to seamlessly pass power and data from two additional usb devices. If you have usb 3.0 it passes the usb 3.0 fuction through the hub.I tested this with a blu ray drive and 2nd USB 3.0 drive connected to the hub and all ran fine using only one usb port on my PC. This drive does require ac power from the wall. Great decive would buy it again.

You don't realize just how much storage this actually is until you get your hands on it! This is perfect for my photography business! Helps by being able to store my photo editing software here instead of my computer, so my computer isn't being slowed down! But the best part is the 2 USB ports in the front of the drive! GENUIS!!! Hands down best design for a hard drive out there!

I bought this to backup my internal drives. It is very fast and reliable. Very easy to use and smaller than previous drives.

Bought this HDD to save movies, music and pictures for Plex Media Server and it is holding up very well so far. Plenty of storage and very easy to use (Plug & Play) I also like the backup feature should anything happen (fingers crossed) I have the ease of mind knowing that all of my data is safe. If your looking for some extra storage I think this is an all around great option for the price and value.

I purchased this because I needed additional back-up capacity. It serves that purpose well - no problem set-up - typical plug and play USB. The only complaint is that it's a bit noisy, hence the 4 instead of 5 star rating.

I wanted a self powered Back Up drive that was reasonably priced and supported USB 3.0. This Seagate drive met the specs and I was pleasantly surprised how fast it was. Compared to an older USB drive I was able to cut my back up time nearly in half. When you are moving video files around that time savings make a major difference. The drive was easy to set up and relatively quiet.

Just found out, 3T for PS4, is good. 3T with extra bay (plugin’s), not so good. Best Buy associate, gave me the right advice, Switch the PS4 3T for Desktop 3T (I now love the extra desktop plugin’s for my iphone charger, etc) PS4 now has e’nuff space, for new games, until I switch to PS5. I purchased this item for my husband, As he was replacing one that had broken, that was past its warranty. This was a new company for him, and he was extremely happy with his product when he received it. He told me that he would highly recommend it.

This device works. For my purposes, I wanted to use it as two separate disks: one as a BACKUP repository and one as a data library disk that doesn't need backup. It partitioned nicely using windows own tools, but purists may want to use more specialized tools. I plugged it in, and directed the appropriate software toward each partition, and Bob's your uncle. It operates at typical SATA speeds. This device has two USB 3 ports available on the front which can be useful for a number of tasks without scrambling around on the backside of the computer looking for ports. I am considering buying again for another computer system. It doesn't need the storage as yet, but it will.

Great drive, fast read and write speeds, good price for the amount of storage. Plus 2 extra usb 3.0 only con is the external power source required.

I have not had this unit for long but works great to this point, great price for size and love the USB ports in front of unit.

I've been using Seagate hard drives for sometime now and have been very happy with the performance. Ths USB hub is a great feature.

Large amount of space to fit multiple device backups onto. Software is somewhat annoying to use however.

My older computer started to become unstable, I purchased this external hard drive to transfer photos and documents so that they would not be lost in the event of a crash. It worked seamlessly. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I needed a replacement backup drive for the one that I already had (which was a duplicate of this 6TB drive). My existing drive had developed read/write errors, so it had to go. This new drive, since it was an exact match, installed without a problem, and my backups are up and running again.
