I initially bought a WD external HD, but it was defective. When Best Buy allowed me to exchange it (fast, easy process)....they had no more WD units so I got this Seagate instead. Seems to work fine. Really like the two extra USB 3.0 ports it provides.

Seems like a good back up drive. I have one complaint but it isn't about the product. I bought this hoping to hook it up to my router but it doesn't seem to work in that fashion, but that's a compatibility issue not a problem with this product

I bought this as a backup drive and to allow USB passthrough. It works for these purposes. I haven't benchmarked it or put it through major work/stress. I will try to do this and update the review down the line (assuming I can edit my reviews at Best Buy which I haven't tried).

This Seagate provides the dependability just like the rest of their line up. I used to be a WD shopper, but all failed on me. This seagate and all other seagates I own are reliable and dependable. Highly recommend.

I purchased this for performing Time Machine backups. I had previously purchased WD drives for this function. They failed as Time Machine backup drive. This Seagate replaced the WDs and have been working flawlessly.

This back up drive has been working strong for the past two years since I bought it.

This is one of if not the best bang for the buck external drives available currently for whatever your purpose is I'm currently using for backup and the next one will be a strictly media hub. I highly recommend

As a photographer with a Canon Mark IV camera, the RAW files are massive. I need a lot of space. This is perfect and a great price. It's super fast and works perfectly with Carbonite. No complaints after 3 months.

It uses an archive drive, so it isn't fast by any means. The WD drive with the same capacity is faster. However, for storing cold data, this is likely going to be more reliable than the WD drive. Time will tell.

Was quick to back up items, has long it is a current PC or laptop. Anything older very slow and time consuming. Other then that good item for the price.

I purchased this drive with the sole intention of taking out the internal drive. It is rather tedious to remove the plastic cover ( without completely destroying the case) but it can be done if you are patient.

It came formatted for my Mac, so that was nice. I needed Apple support to help me get it connected, and it wasn’t simple. Otherwise, I haven’t noticed any sounds, or anything unusual. It’s good.

I have a few of these devices and they work as they should. Good value for the price when compared to other offerings.

Works great and functions as expected. But i did notice that when its connected to my PC, it uses a lot of the PC resources and tends to slow down my computer. Found that annoying. The minute i disconnect it my pc goes back to normal.

Price was good. Product seemed ok, it just did not work with my application. Would not work with either of my routers. Research seemed to indicate that the partition size was too large.

It has been great having all of this extra storage space for music recording. Only drawback is the write speed is a little bit slow, but I'm mostly using it for saving virtual instrument libraries and the read speed is excellent!

I bought this to immediately void the warranty :) and install it into my drobo it's not easily taken apart I had to use the tools from ifixit. after taking it apart it slid right into the drodo and has been working 24/7 since.

It’s going good. Syncs quick. The additional usb connections let me use it like a hub! SWAG ON AND ITS BLACK

This is more then ample storage space for backup of my family's data, it's amazing that these days you get so much storage for this price. This one us good and reliable I recommend it

Bought this on a Black Friday deal. The software is pretty helpful you can set it up to backup your computer weekly daily or hourly I currently use it to backup a 8 terabyte raid array weekly seems to work good.
