An extra Terabyte in your pocket!

The Portable drive arrived in an all recyclable material that suggested the item was larger than its actual dimensions. This ting is tiny! It's 2 7/8" by 2 1/8" and only 5/16" thick. So small but powerful. The finish is elegant, having a grey/black fabric finish that makes it non-slip. My laptop and PC recognized it immediately and was ready to go within 5 seconds. I started to back up files so I could take them to work and my work PC also recognized it in a flash. Please note that this drive is optimized for USB 3 and that's where it excels for moving large files at high speed. If you have USB 2 ports, then the file transfer will be much slower. USB 3 ports have a distinctive blue color. Now for the reason for subtracting a star from the rating: It requires the proprietary cable that came with it, if you forget it at home, it won't work. Not sure why not make it work with a micro-USB cable that are everywhere... Also, I had thought to use it as an external drive for using it on my PS4, but even though other flash drives work, this drive won't work with a PS4 to show media such as pictures, video or other media. Perhaps it's an issue with the formatting. But overall I'm very pleased with the things it does well and will continue to carry 1 terabyte of data in my pocket and feel confident in the safety of my data.

Like me, you've probably accumlated many USB and external drives over the years. You use one a few times, get a bigger one and then put the old ones in a box 'just in case'. For once, I think I might have found a 'keeper'. The Seagate drive is small enough to keep handy in my laptop bag without adding bulk , but is fast enough to act as primary storage (your only limitation being the USB speed on your device). As you can see from the photos, this is super-low profile and about as small as they get. I have it connected to my macbook and also bounces to my iMac occasionally - I havent done any hardcore perfornance testing, but as far as I can tell, its visibly as fast as using the internal drive. I receieved this item as part of an evaluation program, but opinions, photos and real-world testing is all my own.

    The Ultimate SSD for Traveling

When it comes to HDD and SSD I always look at the Seagate Brands. Seagate does an excellent job at creating reliable and fast external storage drives. The first one I owned was a 5TB HDD. A very bulky storage device that I couldn't take anywhere. I needed a smaller external storage device that was portable and great for traveling. I decided to go for this small SSD. I was very surprised at how small the box was. I compared it to a Sharpie and the height is about the same size. The device itself is extremely light and small. The sharper has a greater height! I enjoy the aesthetics of it as well. The soft material type top really stands out and makes it look professional. The first thing I decided to do is create a back up for all my files on my laptop. I was purely satisfied with the simple process. Since it is a SSD, I was expecting it to be much faster than a HDD. But I wasn't expecting a quick 5 minute transfer! Very satisfied with the speed as well. Overall, if you are looking for a external storage device that is small, portable and quick, this one is perfect for you. I would recommend this to anyone.

    Huge Space Tiny Package

This is a great little portable storage drive. The entire drive is smaller than a credit card. It has a stylish grey fabric top which helps to blend it in with more modern laptops and cell phones. There is a proprietary USB A cable that is included and it operated at USB 3.0 speeds. With this being an SSD with fast read/write capability, I wish there was a USB-C option, but the USB A option provides greater compatability overall. Setup is simple. Just plug it in. The drive comes formatted extFAT so it can be used in either a MAC or PC. You can obviously reformat the drive to a more specific need (ext-Journaling for mac or NTFS for PC). There is a PDF included in the drive that explains warranty information as well as an executable for PC (Windows) or a dmg for MAC. The software adds the ability to setup file syncing services which will take the files you choose from your computer and store on this drive as a type of backup. This does not come with any self encryption software. I would highly recommend using a third party encryption software to ensure if you ever lose this tiny drive, your data is safe. There are many free ones out there, so the lack of an included option isn't all that big of a deal. Copying data or reading data from the drive is extremely fast and snappy. The 1TB size will fit most user's needs. It should accommodate a direct copy/sync of data for the average user and help to keep data secure and within an easy reach (compared to the cloud where you may have to download your data which may take more time. The build quality is solid. Since this is an SSD with no moving parts, it should help the drive last longer traveling as compared to a mechanical drive. If you are in need of a super light and portable external drive. This should be on your list. Great little external drive!

Compact fast portable SSD drive fits your palm

This SSD is very compact, light that fits in your palm. It’s less than the size of credit card(see attached pictures for reference to see how small it is compared next to credit/gift card). Because of its size(3” X 2”) it can be carried in your pocket and the fabric finish covering blends well which adds extra protection and not slippery like other drives.  It also got a loop /tab at one end which allows to hook it to your bags while travelling.  It comes in various colors(white, camo blue, camo green, camo grey, camo magenta) but I purchased black 1 TB due to the look and personal choice.   The USB interface is USB 3.0 but it doesn’t come with USB C cable and only comes with USB Micro B to USB A cable(see the picture attached for the cable).  If you have newer laptops that only uses USB C(mine does, Dell xps 13) then you need to purchase an adapter or you can get a new cable(USB B to USB C).   Luckily, I had Samsung T5 that comes with both cables and was able to instantly use without having to purchase new one.  It comes formatted with exFAT and works with both Windows OS and MacOS.   Speed on this is advertised at 400MB/s but was able to get approximately more or less same speed.  I tried to test by copying few large(42gb 4K file), Medium (7 gb) and small(less than 1 tb) and the speeds are good enough.  Surprisingly,  it copied 42gb file in little less than 10 minutes.  I have included some testing benchmark pictures for just reference.  This will be a great little drive for on the go scenarios where you need to copy your files from your SLR camera very fast.   I needed extra storage for my upcoming trip and wanted to try this drive as I already got a 500GB Samsung T5 drive which is almost full with all my pictures of recent trip.    This drive also comes with free offers for software Mylio Create(1 year) and Adobe Creative Cloud Photography( 2 months) that needs to be activated if you need to try.  If are formatting your disk to NTFS out the box, you need to back up the files that comes with it for the trail of free software.  You can also download toolkit software with syncplus and use AES 256-bit encryption. Overall, I would recommend this little drive that is compact, portable, classy looking with textile finish for faster transfer speed of backup on the go and for everyday needs.

There is nothing better for me than to be able to limit the amount of weight or items that I carry with me on a trip or with me in my backpack every day. That is for me the best feature of this device, being as big as a credit card, it takes up barely any space in my bag. I can even throw it in a pants pocket if I need to be pulling it out on the go. The features don't stop there though. I love that it is an SSD and with that comes the 400mb/s speeds. Realistically, I got 360ish off of my Razer Blade Stealth with just transferring some photos and videos. The looks of the hard drive is also nice. It is aesthetically pleasing to carry around and its included braided usb3.0 cable complements it well.

    A Powerful Little Portable Drive

I picked up this drive a couple of weeks ago to supplement the limited space I have on my MacBook Air and couldn't be happier with it. As you can see from the photos, it's super compact, traveling easily in my laptop bag, not taking up much room at all. The unit isn't much larger than my watch or iPods case. With USB 3.0, file transfer and access are insanely fast. The build is solid and with the SSD technology, I feel pretty confident dragging this around with me. This is one of the best external storage devices I've ever picked up. It would have been nice to have some sort of soft pouch to hold the drive and the cable.

Fast, Compact External SSD for backups and more

The Seagate 1TB One Touch SSD is a great step up from a standard USB flash drive or portable spinning disk. On my personal computers, I haven't had a spinning disk in several years. Even my external storage needs have been met with 2.5" SSDs in USB enclosures. This One Touch drive is a great value for solid performance and a great form factor. The drive is small enough to fit in a wallet - length and width are smaller than a credit card. My only complaint with the physical drive itself is the use of the old USB 3.0 micro connection instead of USB-C. This means I have to carry an extra legacy cable in my bag in order to use the drive. This is the only negative I have on the drive and the reason I dropped to 4 stars. Speeds are excellent for a drive in this class, 27k IOPs at QD32 and 4k read IOPs at QD1. This is at least 3x faster than a Sandisk Extreme USB flash drive, and an order of magnitude faster than a portable HDD. The included backup software makes it a simple matter to connect the drive and backup folders. I certainly feel much more comfortable with an SSD holding backups than I would a standard portable hard drive, and of course the speeds allow the backups to complete super fast.

Was getting close to 200 megabytes per second today backing up a customer's data. Smaller than a credit card well-built only drawback is that it's not 3.1 USB but that's okay I got it on the daily deal for a smoking deal.

It seems to work fine now but was a real pain to install. It took several tries before my computer would recognize it so I could complete the installation. It hasn't been installed for very long so don't have a lot of feedback in that arena but as I said, from all indications it appears it is working fine now.

This thing is about the size of a credit card, solid state and holds a 1TB. I like the quality of Seagate products and their support. Tired of having external storage drives fail because they were jiggled a bit and are rendered useless. I was going to get the white one because it would stand out from the other computer accessories and be easy to find but had concerns because one side of this is fabric. Concerns that the white would show dirt quickly and could not be cleaned up properly. I am happy with the charcoal gray color.

Are you on this product for only one week. I have android and iOS devices. I really wanted to store my photos and videos and data from my iPad. Unfortunately, this is not compatible with the iPad even if I had the adapter. Which I did purchase. Perhaps it’s just my non-tech savvy ability. I can’t choose referred to a friend because I haven’t used it.

The box contained the OneTouch SSD along with the connection cord. There is no type of pouch or carrying case. There is a quick start manual included with simple instructions, an offer for mylio create, and an offer for Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. One of the features of this SSD is size. I am impressed with the overall size of the SSD - You could line three of these up side by side and they would be that of an iPhone XR. The top of the drive has a fabric material to add an appeal. Aesthetics, an odd aspect to consider while searching for an external SSD, but I am pleased between size and presentation. The other consideration with size, is practicality. Considering the SSD requires a cable to connect with a computer, I am unsure what the purpose of such a small SSD is? I appreciate that I could easily carry this drive around or keep it near for quick file transfer or backup; however, since one also is required to keep track of the connection cable I do not see the true potential in such a small presentation. I began using the drive with a MacBook Pro. I was automatically given the option to set up the drive with Time Machine. This would be a fantastic, easy setup if someone desired to initiate this process. You can defer using this option. You are then directed to initiate Start Here to register the product. Using internet connection, one is able to register the OneTouch SSD after reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions, privacy statement, and optional offers. The optional offers are actually optional. There is a getting started link that contains the full manual. The full manual is broken down into a user friendly interface. The manual explains that the Seagate OneTouch SSD is preformatted exFAT. This allows one to use the hard drive with both Mac or Windows computers out of the box. Of course you do have the option to re-format the drive. The guide has a very well put section on how to choose a file system format that is right for you. Then walks you through how to manually format the SSD if that is what you choose. There is also a section on how to safely remove the SSD from the computer if one is new to using any type of external drive. The option to download Seagate Toolkit is given, which facilitates creation of sync folders on your SSD that mirror folders on your Mac. The Toolkit is an easy to navigate program that allows one to set up a “Sync Plus Plan”, choose computer folders, drive folder to send to, and the option to have one-way or two-way synching. Ultimately, at many points during the initial use of this drive, I felt that Seagate did a wonderful job at designing an interface that would allow even a novice to efficiently use the OneTouch SSD to properly backup their desired files or facilitate ease of file transfer. The USB 3 and SSD combination provides fast and efficient files access and transfer.
