I'll be honest, I was torn: it was either this, or Western Digital's MyCloud. However, Western Digital being more expensive and less favorable based on the reviews I read, I ended up going with this puppy. Setup was extremely easy, I mapped it on all of my computers and have been sharing files with my family no problem. TVs recognized it at first (Sony BRAVIA SmartTVs), the only annoying thing was that everything was displayed in a long slew of icons, rather than nicely arranged in a list. However, it has been a week now that my TVs have stopped finding the content on my personal cloud, and Sony was no help either (however, I can access all files still from my computers). All in all great stuff - if I could only get the TVs to work with it, again.1

This is a handy NAS/Cloud portal. A little difficult to set up, but that was mostly due to my own network complications, no fault of the Personal Cloud. One fault I did find was that the USB port will not allow you to hook up a USB HDD that is exFAT formatted. This was a large pain, because the main reason I bought this was to help in transferring my PS4's data from a backup to the new HDD I installed. The option to be able to stream your data from anywhere through a phone app is awesome though.

I have been researching NAS devices for a while and stumbled across this. since it is the latest from seagate i figured why not give it a try! i have had this a little over 2-3 months and i have ultimately put it in place and haven't touched it since. it has been very reliable and has met my expectations. i have been able to use the built-in app (S-Drive) to access my files from anywhere. i also use a VPN to my house to stream movies. i actually have a decent internet connection at home and after a little bit of buffering, movies stream without issue. the main thing i use this for is to also backup my MacBook Pro. i connect to my VPN from work and just let it do its thing. that way i've always got the most up to date backup. the next thing would be the iOS picture backup with the seagate app. its a little flakey on the iOS app, but it eventually gets the job done, and my pictures as well as my wife are both backed up. I then backup specific files on the seagate drive, from its built in backup feature, to a PC running carbonite which then backs up those files to the cloud. overall great device. very reliable, and does what it needs to do.

I love the fact that you can hook this up to your network and everyone that is on your network has access. Share photos and files without bogging down your computer. We haven't noticed a lag in the files coming up either. I highly recommend it. Keeping a watch on whether it gets hot or not and so far it hasn't. Had it for about 2-3 months.

I bought this 4TB network external to back up my work data, yes I have that much data! My husband got really excited because it can be partitioned, accessed from anywhere, and you can host your own website from it. Just make sure that your router has access for an S drive and you should be all set. It was easy to set up the network online and share between users. Works great with other Seagate devices through dashboard.

Its performance is good, for the price is a very good nas, also you can install plex, it is not as powerful as others, but if you have your videos in mp4 works great. The size is more than enough.

Overall, I like the device. It's a bit tricky to setup, I had to call the customer support number, and they were very helpful; but once it's setup it's very easy and friendly. You have the ability to allow multiple users with different levels of access to the files. It's great for smaller offices that need to have automatic backups, and share files.

This product is a new revision of its 4TB predecessor. It operates faster and has fewer oddities. Some speed was gained with a Giga ethernet port connected to a Giga port on the router. I use it for storage and access of photos by laptops and do not use any other features so I have turned the extra features off in the manager module. I would probably give this box a 5 star rating but since I have only used it for a single purpose, I can not comment on its other features including the USB port.

I set this up in about 15 minutes. Within my household network it is easy to access and check status from any computer. I am the administrator, it seems a little slow on remote access and the remote access set up is somewhat difficult to follow. I know that is to avoid problems with non-static IPs but the directions are not as good as they might be. I flow chart to give a visual would help. But for the price, much cheaper than monthly fees to cloud services.

This is not plug and play. It is also not fast. It took me days to get my data on to this storage. (Use a cable don't use wireless when copying a lot of data at one time.) The Seagate application for Samsung TV/devices does not work well. It is really clunky and video playback has problems most of the time. The Seagate application for iPhone works better and for the most part this will stream to my TV with Chromecast. The main reason I purchased this was to store my home video files (instead of burning them to DVD) and be able to watch them on TV. I am able to do this but I had to read or watch a lot of "how to" guides to figure it all out. I hope there will be improvements and this will get easier and better in the future.

Finally something that can keep all my photos and documents. Recently had a computer crash. Fortunately I had someone who could retrieve my files, but his or any external drive is a necessity. Like the fact I can access from anywhere.

This device is good at its most basic function...l storage. It does have its flaws. The device is really touchy when trying to upload pics or files. It sometimes takes me days to get the device to upload properly. The apps that are supposed to use to upload from the mobile device are basically useless. They are very finicky and it's a shot in the dark as to whether your item will load. When they do load they are put in random folders. This is device is good for its most function, storage when it works

I installed the device and the included seagate software but could not figure out how to use it for remote access. The Western Digital MyCloud was much easier to install and has a more robust app for access by remote Windows and Android devices.

I got this instead of the external hard drive. The 5 tb. Size, my only complaint is the size wish it was more than 4tb. 8 to 10 and faster speeds awesome then.
