I love this product! Super fun to ride. Easy to learn and has a fantastic self balancing mechanism! I never did rollerblading, skating of any kind and I was able to pick it up in a day or two. Amazing!

It’s easy to ride (once you practice for a little bit) and the only negative thing about it is my shins hurt (get sore) from riding it for long periods of time. I think it has to do with me always leaning forward (speed demon here). I ride this thing everyday now for the past few weeks to work and back, and I actually look forward to it, it’s fun, not as fast as a vehicle but I can literally smell the flowers as I go to work and back home ;) great purchase, I did wish it went a little faster but in some ways I am glad it doesn’t because I would probably hurt myself.

Really cool, but steering bar hurts.

Nifty machine, I bought one for fun. I'd use this recreationally, as you're probably not supposed to be on the sidewalks in many places, but it's a bit dangerous to ride in streets. You're standing up, so any crack, pothole, etc, can catch this and you'd go flying off. Definitely make sure to wear a helmet, knee, elbow, and wrist protection with this. Too many people get thrown off standing devices like these or scooters and can break a collarbone. Because it's small enough to be portable, you can drive it to a bike path, or somewhere with protected bike lanes, and ride it there. Using it is really easy. You'll pick it up in about 10 seconds. It's self-balancing which is really cool, so one you learn to step on, you'll be up and running in a minute. Leaning forward or backward to move, and swaying gently side to side to turn a particular way feels really natural. You need to ride for a certain distance in safety mode before you can unlock full speed, which is a good idea. You can put it back into safety or new rider mode in the Segway app, which is good if you let someone else try it for the first time (it limits the speed). The app also has other options, such as changing the glow / lighting color and modes, locking the device, and seeing the speed you're going, how far you've traveled, battery/distance remaining, etc. The reason I knocked off 2 stars is that the knee bar that you lean against is really uncomfortable, to the point that it hurts. It's not adjustable, so it's stuck at the height that it's at. Depends on your height, but for me it hits just in and slightly under the inner knee, where it's delicate. It hurts and is uncomfortable any time I need to turn and push my leg against the bar, which is obviously a problem. I did purchase a third party steering column ($50-$60), so that may mitigate the problem, but it hasn't come yet. You basically take off the knee steering column, and install that instead. I purchased one that collapses so I can still use it as a knee steering column, or an adjustable height steering column. Kind of like how the original Segway were set up, so you still move by leaning forward or backward, but turn by using the bar with your hands. I think that will have the added benefit of some stability if you need something to hold on to, in bumpier areas. However, an adjustable bar should have come with the device, so that's a problem. I've also purchased a third party kickstand for $12. Super easy to install and totally worth it. Self balancing turns off once you turn off the device, so the kickstand is nice in that it keeps the device from falling over when you're done with it. Overall this is a fun, but potentially dangerous device that you need to treat with caution and respect while riding. It's nifty, fun, but can be very uncomfortable to ride for some people at a certain height.

Very disappointing, ordered item and wrapped it as the big gift for all my kids for Christmas. It was opened Christmas morning to extreme excitement and soon after I realized it was dead. It would not not turn on nor would it charge.

I am almost 65 years old and my balance isn’t what it used to be. When I first got on this contraption, I initially wobbled back and forth and thought, “Oh my gosh, what have I gone and done!” After a couple more tries, I was able to mount and dismount minus the wobbling. Fortunately, there is a low speed learning requirement before the throttle is able to be moved up a bit. I took the Ninebot to a quarter mile runner’s track, and did 6 practice laps before taking it out into the “real world.” I am glad I did, because even with the smooth flat surface, I still took a spill. But only one, and there was no audience! After only 3 days of occasional use, I’m getting rather comfortable on this, and am sure I will only get better with continued use. It doesn’t like inclines very much, and the instructions say a 5% incline is all it will do. I am inclined to believe that. I’m still a bit shaky over slight bumps, but am again certain I’ll become more comfortable with use. Good purchase for me..., as long as I don’t ride it off a cliff...

The Ninebot S is everything we thought it would be. Lasts long enough to take the dog on an hour walk. That’s all I need. The app works well also as it lets me limit the speed of one of my kids are riding it. You will use it for sure. This thing is pretty powerful. The only negative that I have seen is that when you go too fast, the ninebot will dramatically lean back to slow you down. I can see this being a hazard to the less athletic people. I really had to work hard to not fall off the first time this happened. Take off the speed limit in the app.... problem solved. All in all, great buy!

It is a blast to ride. I use it to commute in a downtown environment daily. HOWEVER, it is challenging to ride well. Think high end scateboard. The bumps and lips in a typical sidewalk/road are challenging to get over without feeling like you will fall, or actually falling. It's took me about two weeks to become moderately skilled and I now hit full speed pretty regularly (at first you won't be comfortable with that speed). Make sure to buy a helmet and wear regularly. Even though I consider myself pretty good at it, and haven't fallen off yet, I could easily imagine falling off at 10 mph (which is actually faster than it seems).

Bought this for my son and he has been having a great time on it ever since. The only con is that the center bar is not adjustable, but it has not affected the functionality of this scooter at all. Coming up on a year of ownership and have not had any issues with it.

    I LOVE Segway!!!

I have done Segway tours all over the world during my vacations, and I love them. I jumped at the chance to get this when it went on sale during the holidays and it's working great over half a year later. It's the personal version which is smaller and limiting in terms of incline/power/speed compared to the bigger ones we're all used to. It works great on paved concrete and cement, flat surface, and 10 mph is pretty fast. It has automatic slow down feature, although I personally don't like it but probably good for kids. And the self-balancing is great technology, better than other products. The knee controls are easy to get used to and maneuver; however, I'm used to handles so I purchased a handlebar accessory (third party) which can also be used as knee controls. Overall, great product. Easy to use. Charge lasts long. App is good to track distance/location and lock. Thanks Best Buy for bringing Segway to my local store!

Originally purchased for my nephew and didn't think I would find this segway useful and fun myself, to the point I ended up keeping it for myself and getting him another hoover board. Very easy to learn and use, after a few minutes of learning your up and running. If I were to go back only thing I would change is the color, scuff marks everywhere on the white one.

I can’t say enough at how amazing this Segway is. My 6 and 10 year old boys LOVE this product. My 6 year old lived on one during a few camping trips with some friends, so we felt that we had to buy one. It is pretty quick and could easily cause some injuries, so be prepared or wear safety protection. Pretty easy to navigate for a child and I am not brave enough to attempt at 43 years old.

Easy to set up, just 2 screws and a cover to attach the post. Does not come charged, but was fully charged in very short time. App connection is needed to set up the full controls, but it's easy and walks you through everything. Does a good job of making sure the rider is prepared and able. Speed setting is slow until the rider completes basic training, then you can adjust the speed for the appropriate rider skill level. Got it for my son who is autistic. He was a little timid at first but got the hang of it pretty quickly. His sisters like it too.

Cool factor teenager and adult toy, later bought the Ninebot Go-Kart attachment and it became even cooler and fun to use. Bought each of my three sons one during the pandemic lockdown, got them out of the house from their peripherals, racing each other and venturing out and around the neighbourhood and into the suburbs. They loved it for the speed, fresh air and fun. It was easy to assemble, set up and sync onto phone apps on both apple and android phones. Black Friday had a great deal, but the boys used it in the fall.
