Customers are saying

Customers praise the Momentum Sport Earbuds for their exceptional sound quality, with noise cancellation that effectively isolates outside noise. They also appreciate the secure and comfortable fit, even during intense physical activities. The earbuds have a good battery life and offer decent Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) performance. However, some users find the earbuds uncomfortable for extended use, and there are concerns about the durability of the charging case. Additionally, a few customers feel that the price is relatively high compared to other options in the market.

TLDR: Best Sport headphones, they are worth the heavy price. Hands down. I have been using the Jabra Elite Sport headphones for years and needed some new buds. I always had problems with them wiggling out even under just regular workouts, constantly adjusting while running. I've dreamed of Sport earbuds that gave me all the bells and whistles and ear fins. Behold the Momentum Sport. I can do all the box jumps I want, sprinting, plus handstand walks, and these stay rock solid. Very impressed with the fit, I put my gym headphones through more rigorous torture than most. I also have to give a huge shout-out to Sennheiser for their Smart Control App. For Android it's the best headphone app I've used. Major win is their connection management feature. With multipoint this allows you to pick any 2 devices for it to be connected to if you own many devices, super handy. Sound and ANC are top notch as well. They deliver a lowerful punch through an intense workout and are also incredibly clear listening to something lighter and more relaxing when stretching and cooling down. No one has complained about sound quality on calls which is great but that's not why I bought these, but it's great. Now here is where I give them 5 stars. The tap controls. Full transparency I prefer the physical buttons from Jabra. I love these tap controls though compared to their competitors, especially with how you can customize in the app. With the right tips, wings, and control setup these are the best fitness earbuds on the market. Attached photo is from doing handstand walks with earbuds not even budging.

PROS + Comfortable to use for long periods of time and with lots of movement (weight lifting, running, biking, etc.) + Battery life and overall playtime is great + Solid overall sound quality + Unique and useful software features (heart rate and body temp monitoring, ear fit assessment, sound check custom EQ presets, and custom sound zones) + Transparency mode is excellent with the semi-open design and software passthrough + Integrates with the Polar ecosystem of products if you own Polar devices + Responsive touch controls + Sennheiser Smart Control app is well designed, responsive, and easy to use. The earbuds integrate well with any other Sennheiser smart products you use with the app CONS - Touch sensitive controls are a bit too touch sensitive, even with the sensitivity adjusted, often leading to accidental triggering - Removable ear fins are not very secure and quickly fall off if an earbud is dropped - Case cover is a bit flimsy feeling and the case itself is on the large size SO-SO * Sound is a bit bass light out of the box, but can be improved with bass boost and EQ Adaptive ANC works pretty well despite the semi-open design, but isn’t going to blow you away with canceling ambient sounds * Overall max volume is loud enough in my use cases, but I can turn them up to 80-90% comfortably, which may not leave a lot of headroom for some folks THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT If you are an avid athlete and/or exercise enthusiast who likes to listen to music while you workout, then you know the challenges of finding the right pair of headphones or earbuds. Some get too hot, some don’t fit well, some don’t sound good, some are too heavy; it can be a trick to get everything right. The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds do a good job of trying to ride this middle ground of features and performance, doing most things well, some things great, and a few things missed along the way. Overall though, I think these are a solid choice, if you are willing to pay the relatively higher premium for them. FIT & COMFORT In terms of size, fit, and comfort, I personally found these very comfortable for my uses. Even without the replaceable wings, these fit well in my ears when I used the right ear tips. The app has a fit evaluation feature that determines if the earbuds are a good fit in your ears with their current position and set-up, and I found this worked very well for getting the right ear tip size to create the proper seal in my ear. Once I had the right combination of ear tip and ear fin, the earbuds stayed securely in place and I had no issues with using them during activities or static for longer periods of time. The one issue I did have with the rubber ear fins is that they are not very secure when wrapped around the buds. They don’t hook onto anything, and instead rely on their tension to stay in place, which is fine when in my ear, but when I would set the buds down or drop them, the fins would often pop off very easily. I wish there has been a simple hook system to make them more secure from falling off. But overall earbud comfort is great. SOUND QUALITY In terms of audio quality, I think these sound very good for what they are, but I wouldn’t say they blow me away for their price. They are not audiophile levels of quality, even for earbuds, but they also have a very neutral sound signature that I like. The mids are very present, with no harsh treble or highs. I do think the low-end is missing a bit for my liking, but enabling bass boost did help, along with some minor EQ tweaks. You can tune these well to your liking, but I think most people will find these perfectly fine out of the box. Again, they didn’t blow me away with sound performance, but they also sounded much better than alternatives I have heard. They are very good for long listening sessions. You do get support for Bluetooth 5.2 and AAC, which is great for hi-res audio support over Bluetooth. SOFTWARE The Sennheiser Smart Control app that you use to update firmware, adjust EQ, run the fit assessment, and more is very good in my opinion. It takes a little bit to connect to the earbuds (~5 seconds or so), but once done the app is very responsive, looks good, and has all of the controls you could want. You can play around with the ANC and transparency settings, in addition to all of the things you would expect like remapping the touch controls to different functions. Speaking of these, I found the Adaptive ANC to be serviceable, definitely deafening sounds, although not class leading. However, with ANC engaged, or the custom “Anti Wind” mode engaged, and music playing I did find it did exactly what it needed to do by dropping ambient sounds and fully engaging me in the music. Likewise, I heard no degradation in audio quality between the modes, which was great. The transparency mode on the other hand was really fantastic I thought. These are a semi-open designed earbud, so while that hinders full noise canceling, it helps a lot with awareness of the environment. I found the transparency mode very natural sounding, and did a great job of letting in surrounding sounds and mixing them with audio I had playing. For the touch sensitive controls, they are very responsive, but too sensitive, which I am hoping can be adjusted with firmware. If I reach up to adjust them while working out, or remove them from my ears, it would often trigger a response accidentally like changing the sound mode or volume on my music. You can adjust the sensitivity in the app, but in my case even the lowest level was a bit too sensitive for my liking. On the health side, these do measure your heart rate and body temperature, which you can view in the app. I found both of these lined up well with my other fitness tracker I use, and if you have Polar devices, these can be linked up for more comprehensive health tracking. If you don’t have a dedicated fitness tracker, then these provide some nice built-in tracking for things like heart rate, which is a nice feature, but far from “essential” I think. CASE & BATTERY The battery life is great, quoted at 24 hours of total playtime (6 hrs earbuds + 18.5 hrs case), which I haven’t been able to fully stress test to the max, but is very believable from my use. It has fast charging capability, which is great, and in general, longevity should not be an issue with these. You can also use a setting in the app to slow the charging speed a bit, to increase the lifespan of the battery, which is also a nice touch. The case itself is solid. It is a bit on the large size for the size of the earbuds, and has a somewhat flimsy feeling cover that has a soft hinge which magnetically attaches the lid to the case. It does the job, and looks good, but I do wish it was a bit smaller and felt a bit more sturdy when it came to the lid. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a nitpick nonetheless.

Design: the packaging of this product doesn’t feel like it’s $300 it’s very simplistic basic and almost zero protection. inside the box you get a USBA to USB C cord, a sets of different sizes of wings that’s optional to use also some ear tips and a small lanyard. but yeah the packing is not selling me. then we check out the main case for the sennheiser momentum sport, we see the case and honestly by this i’m not a fan of how it look, it’s a plastic type of case kinda have that rubber feeling to it and it catches dust lint from your outfit easily so kinda look dirty and I have to keep on cleaning it. one of the first thing I notice right away from the case was the charge port cover for USBC the rubber does not close at all so the rubber cover from the case is just hanging down and not protecting the USBC plug at all. and man I was kinda disappointed seeing that. but hey the case support wireless charging tho so that’s atleast a plus on my book. the earphone looks feels massive for my ear. and it feels heavy, maybe the whole round design doesn’t fit well for m. features: these earphones support Bluetooth 5.2, with 10mm drivers. it’s also dust resistant. multi connect functionality and noise canceling capabilities. its IP55 rated. it’s water resistant with body performance data, you have the ability to track your heart rate and body temperature using the ear sensors. definitely would recommend to install the sennheiser app to customize your earphone. the app alone is well done easy to navigate they also have presets that you can use and have the ability to manual adjust it. I love how you can see the heart rate and body temperature when using the app. experience: a perfect time for me to use test this momentum sport while I go for a run, I can still hear around with pass through and definitely the fit is what bothered me. in my personal experience I use the smallest wing tip they offer the momentum sport just doesn’t seem to work right on my ear. I felt like I was spending more time focusing to make sure it doesn’t fall off since these were not cheap earphones. but I have zero complaints when it comes to delivering some crisps audio quality on my end. i enjoy a great amount of bass and these sounded great with clear vocals but I would still mess around with the EQ it’s always nice to have the ability to do that. I did download the polar app for the body temperature feature to fully see some data. but I wish I could just view everything using the apple fitness app. majority of the time most runner would have an apple watch and they probably would rather keep up with their body temperature using an apple watch. having the sennheiser app and polar app it was a bit too much just to run this earphone. ofcourse polar app is optional but if you’re paying $300 for an earphone you want to atleast experience what it offers. conclusion: well again this is $300 product and i wish sennheiser would package this to feel more premium, im not a fan of the case. the rubber was not consistent of covering the USBC insert. I think it’s more of my issue about not being fully comfortable with the earphone.I was spending so much time while running to make sure it’s sitting right that it won’t fall off. momentum sport does offer some great app feature, with quality audio that I can enjoy. has great battery life. the design is alright. and I just don’t see these earphones on $300 dollar range. maybe $200 would been a perfect fit for this so watch for sale

Awesome Earbuds with a Sporty Mindset

Sennheiser has been an outstanding brand in home audio with their excellent pedigree with headphones used for music and personal computing and the Momentum Sport true wireless earbuds are another product that solidifies that reputation. The Momentum Sport are well-built, quality feeling ear buds with 4 contact charging pads and a LED indicator on each earbud. There are no physical buttons or parts of the earbud that depress for functionality, it is all capacitive touch and sensor interactions that control the function of the earbuds. They are slightly larger and heavier than a pair of competing earbuds in a similar price range and smaller and lighter than the PowerBeats Pro they will be replacing. Battery life is good at around 4-5 hours playing music continuously while lasting most of the day with mixed use for phone calls and some music mixed in. Another interesting feature of the Momentum Sport earbuds is that they also have some health monitoring capabilities like heart rate and body temperature, which can be checked in the Sennheiser Smart Control App. The left ear bud has the sensors for heart rate and bpm and the app will tell you to insert the left ear to get those readings. The App allows you to manage connections to your earbuds and it says clearly it supports Bluetooth MultiPoint, which allows you to connect to two BT devices simultaneously, like a SmartPhone and a laptop/PC at the same time. That way, if you are listening to music and take a call on your phone or laptop, it'll switch to the call and mute the other source. Similarly, if you are listening to something on your laptop/PC and take a call on your PC or your phone, it'll pause/mute your other source for the call on your phone. This all worked seamlessly and worked well in practice switching between sources without having to manually switch between devices on the laptop or on my iPhone. There's other neat aspects to the app, such as the ability to conduct a Fit Test, which uses a combo fo the sensors and the external microphone to test how much noise leakage there is to come to a fit score. I got a score of Good and the earbuds were very comfortable for me in both my ear canal and the outer ear where the body of the earbuds rest. The "wings" however were useless for me so your mileage may vary. Mine pointed out too far outward and not under the top lobe of my ear. Installing those are rather simple, there's 2 letters on each silicone wing - first letter is which earbud and second letter is the size. So RS would be Right Small, LL would be Left Large etc. Remove the "blank" ring and there's a little notch key showing the top of the earbud and install the wing you want to use and align the notch/tooth again. The app also lets you set the Active Noise Cancelling levels which I found to be very good. You can have full ANC which blocks out sound, and you can also set a level of transparency which allows some ambient/outside noise to passthrough, which is good if you are on the phone call or talking to someone so you don't sound like you're shouting. There's also Anti-Wind which blocks wind noise but still allows some ambient noise between ANC and Transparency mode. In terms of sound, Sennheiser doesn't disappoint with the Momentum Sport. Very clean sound especially treble, midrange and upper notes. Bass as is typical with earbuds isn't the best, slightly muffled and not as punchy and responsive as full headphones or home speakers but Bass is still pretty good for true wireless earbuds. There's a Bass preset in the app and honestly there's not a ton of difference between toggling it on or off. My main disappointment is with the capacitive touch controls. The Smart Control app has diagrams showing the touch controls and the taps don't see that great in terms of responsiveness. I don't think it confidently starts/stops music and I also did not see a command to swap inputs. You can stop playback and then start playback on the device and the Momentum Sport will then play that source but it would be nice if they had a manual switch option and then the ability to tap the earbud once to play. Hopefully future firmware updates clean this up. The case is definitely larger than other True wireless earbuds like Jabra Elite or Apple Airpods Pro, but it is considerably smaller than the PowerBeats Pro I am replacing, probably about 65% of the size and thinner too. The case is rigid with a soft touch feel and definitely has premium vibes, but it has a little rubber membrane holding the clamshell design together with a magnet fastener. This could be a long-term failure point for something that is supposed to be rugged for sport. So far I've used the Momentum Sport mowing the lawn, walking the neighborhood, at work and at the pool. These are water resistant, not water proof, and so far they have held up great with just water splashing but not submerged which is how I plan to use them. I can listen to music and take calls while watching the kiddos at the pool. BT connectivity is great and I had no issues with signal with clear line of sight at 45 feet. Highly recommend the Momentum Sport earbuds, but I'm hoping they simplify and clean up the touch commands. I think part of the issue they have is there is a light touch method of controlling the earbuds for when they are partially covered, but in those cases I would still use my voice assistant like Siri.

    Good sound, subpar extras

To start, the good- Sound- The sound is great, excellent even. Good initial balance of tones, and the custom EQs actually enhance the music types you're listening to rather than just amplification. The most notable is the podcast boost. I listen to a bunch of YouTube debate/talk videos that aren't always mixed well. This boost puts the vocals front and center without blasting the volume. The sound of these buds live up to the Sennheiser brand. Fit- using the correct ear tips and the corresponding "wings," the fit is one of the better bud fits I have used. Once locked in, they stay put, even through high impact/jarring activity. Once the correct fit is established, you get a seal which does a great job of blocking out ambient noise. This is very noticeable in a gym setting. Touch controls- Of course you have your usual multi-presses to correspond to different functions, but here they incorporated a great addition, tapping outside the ear canal. With just about every set of BT headphones I've used, I have issues with the sensitivity of tapping the actual earphone/bud. Especially when in the moment of a good workout and I just want to rewind a track. Tapping the skin is so much more intuitive and useful for quick, accurate navigation. That being said, it still is susceptible to the mistaken presses when wearing a hoodie. Call clarity- Nonissues of hearing/responding with clear audio and responsive controls. The not so great- Battery- with the sensors running, you're only getting about 4 1/2 hours of listening time. Not close to all day listening. Turning those off increases life by another hour or two depending on what you're listening to. Sensors- I do not use Polar. Their devices or apps. So, when testing I was directly working within the Sennheiser app. When all was set-up and connected, all showed up well, but when I go back to my music app, get a good heart rate burst, I go back to the Sennheiser app, and it has to reconnect, and seconds go by before I get a reading. I have tried to turn off data restrictions, background running, etc. but nothing works to have a consistent read when on demand. But, when it does connect, it is accurate based on comparison between my watch and heart rate monitor. Connectivity- It says integration is possible with several apps/devices, but I haven't found this to be the case. I would love a simple connect to either Google Fit, MyZone, or Withings, but as of yet, I haven't been able to sync up as easily as advertised. It may be possible to sync through the Polar app, but as mentioned, I want to use this outside of Polar. Connection- Initial connection, and all connections following have been without issue, but when you get a hiccup in sound and/or a mismatch in earbud timing, it can be a real pain to sync correctly as a simple power cycle does not fix the issue. Also, in a clear, wide-open environment, like a park, distance away is good, but once you hit a more crowd dense area, like a gym, I can barely get 10 feet without interference/droppage. This seems to be sporadic across all of the buds I've owned, but very prevalent in those with added functionality (heart rate, etc.). Despite the shortcomings, I would recommend these to fitness enthusiasts and general audiophiles alike based on the great sound, superb fit, and overall customization. They can keep up with your workout! But, if you are looking to use for the sensors and fitness reading aspects, unless you are invested in the Polar line of products, I would say it is simple a fun novelty that loses its charm once the initial curiosity fades.

Comfortable, Very Secure, and Superb Audio Quality

The Sennheiser Momentum Sport Earbuds have accompanied me on all of my workouts this past week. After putting them through their paces, they're my new favorite go-to earbuds for anything fitness related. They're by far the most light, comfortable, and secure fit earbuds that I've used for my workouts. So far I've taken these earbuds on jogs, sprints, heavy weightlifting sessions, bike rides, RowErg sessions, and Onewheel boarding trips. Even on the bumpiest terrain, not once did the earbuds fall out or feel like they were starting to fall out. After trying on all of the various eartip and earfin sizes, the medium size gave me the most secure fit; and consequently, the best audio experience. I can't stress enough just how important it is to obtain the proper fit with these earbuds. When testing the various sizes, if the eartips were too small or too large, it negatively impacted the fullness of the audio soundstage. During this fitting process, I also recommend taking a few seconds to inspect the quick guide pamphlet in order to view the proper earfin installation instructions. Initially, I was simply putting the earfins OVER the included rubber O-rings that came outfitted around each earbud. Once I looked at the instructions, I realized that you're supposed to take those rubber O-rings off in order to get a tight and proper seal when installing the earfins. Once I made this correction, the fit was vastly improved! While these are not my absolute best sounding flagship earbuds that I own, they are certainly my best sounding active lifestyle earbuds. The default soundstage on these Momentum Sport earbuds is relatively flat/neutral. The mids and highs are not only exceptionally clear, but they also maintain that same level of clarity even at the highest volume level. Instruments were easily discernable in genres like Jazz, Metal, Classical, and Blues. The bass is punchy, crisp, and perfectly tuned for the aforementioned genres. However, since I also frequently listen to music from the Electronic genre, I felt the bass needed a bit of an uplift in this genre. I was ecstatic to discover a "bass boost" option on the Sennheiser Smart Control app EQ. This provided me with the extra depth and sustained bass I was looking for! During my travels, these earbuds did a fantastic job of actively canceling noise on busy streets and sections of the park that I frequent. This was also the case when using them around the house to carry out everyday chores like washing dishes. In the gym, I couldn't hear any of the constant metal clanking all around me from the barbells and machines. I've come around to liking these so much that these will be the only buds I'll use going forward for all of my workouts. After extensively using the Momentum Sport earbuds for the past week, I've compiled some of the pros and cons that stood out to me the most: Pros: - Neutral soundstage with excellent clarity in the mids and highs; very balanced bass with the option of bass boost - Lightweight secure fit sport earbuds with unrivaled comfort; the best I've tried - Sporty and rugged re-chargeable case with IP55 rating - Various eartip and earfin sizes (i.e. small, medium, large) to ensure optimal fit - Heart rate sensor is as accurate as other smart watch wearables I own - Don't fall out even when engaged in the most intense of exercises - Great ANC Performance - Sennheiser Smart Control App provides various useful features (e.g. Eq, ANC modes, Tap shortcuts) - Experienced no issues while profusely sweating and working out Cons: - Battery life was a bit short in real-world testing (~3-4 hrs; volume level at around 85%) - Finicky issue with getting audio out of one earbud only whenever I've set the earbuds down on a counter for an extended period of time (outside of their case) - No way to manually power off/on the earbuds once they're out of the case The only major issue I had with these is that whenever I set the earbuds down on the table for an extended period of time (e.g. 20-30 minutes), and I come back to pick them up, I only get audio out of one earbud. The frustrating part is that there's no way (at least that I could find) to manually power on/off the earbuds when they're outside of their case. Toggling my Bluetooth on/off on my phone or manually disconnecting and re-connecting the earbuds on the device bluetooth list also didn't fix the issue. The only way to fix this was to either manually re-pair them again, or to put them back in their case and take them back out again (which is the quicker fix of course). While this isn't a huge deal, I do hope that Sennheiser releases a firmware update in the future in order to address this. Currently, I've verified that I'm on the latest build. For now, I'll just make sure to put the earbuds back in the case whenever I'm not using them. Aside from this caveat, I was really impressed by the audio quality that these Momentum Sport earbuds produce, all while providing an incredibly secure and comfortable fit for my active lifestyle. While the heart sensor was just as accurate as any of my other wearables, I did find it to be more of a useful backup in case I forgot my smartwatch or in case it ran out of battery. If you're looking for serious enthusiast grade earbuds that stay put in the most rigorous of situations, I highly recommend checking these out.

Awesome Tracking Sensors with Premium Sound

I am a triathlete and if you are also an athlete or you just want to enjoy high quality earbuds while being active the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds check all the boxes for many reasons, let me shortly explain: Right out of the box the Momentum Sport earbuds look great, the case has a nice and soft silicone cover and both are of good quality. What sets these earbuds apart is the integrated performance tracking sensors, Yes, they do have them. They monitor my Heart Rate with the built-in photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor that does a great job. I can track my heart rate while being active and also when I am resting so I know if I am truly recovering. The Momentum also have Body Temperature Sensors, what? They do monitor body temperature during workouts. And all this data is important, the better tracking the better I know how to train. I can see stats to help me push myself further of perhaps slow down, either way to help me get better. Best of all the tracking is powered by Polar and I can use Polar Flow to see and share this information to my other workout applications like Peloton, Zwift, Strava, Nike+, MyFitnessPal, and more. In other words the Sports Ecosystem Compatibility make the Momentum Sport tracking information be paired with many applications, watches and other equipment via App and Bluetooth so I can see the data I need seamlessly. I also like the Secure and comfortable fit, I did try different fins and ear tips to ensure the best fit, and just so you know, both ears do not have to be the same size, once I found the right fit I do not need to worry about it any further. While weight lifting or even doing yoga they stay in place. Something else I enjoy is the shock, dust, and sweat-resistant they have, in other words they are IP55-rated so I can sweat it out worry-free. About the sound, these earbuds deliver crystal clear sound with amazing bass without being overwhelming and they just make all my workouts more powerful. For example I ran seven miles outside with them today and they are very comfortable while providing amazing premium sound and since I was outside I turned on the transparency mode so I hear my surroundings. And while talking about the Transparency Mode; this means that when I am doing an activity when I need to be aware of my surroundings like cycling, I do not need to take the earbuds off; I can hear my surroundings perfectly with a touch of the earbuds. The adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is great, at the gym it can be loud at times and I like to be focused and since the ANC adapts according to the surroundings, they offer distraction free workouts, no more interruptions or distractions at any time. Taking calls can also be customized; I can focus on the call or turn on transparency mode so I can stay aware of my surroundings while on the call. Finally the application is very helpful, it helps you in every step of the way to pair them, updates, also see information on how they work and I can customize them too. The application even helped me with the Fit Test to get the right fit. Overall, the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds combine great smart sensors with premium sound quality while providing a secure comfortable fit. Whether you're a seasoned athlete who demands superior audio with intelligent functionality or just starting your fitness journey and want to get going, these earbuds are an excellent choice.

SOUND Outstanding sound quality in all formats. The bass reaches deep, yet is precise and melodic. Vocals come through with a natural clarity and the highs never get shrill. Even at unhealthy, elevated volumes the sound keeps its composure, imaging, and balance. I put them through their paces with everything from Tool, Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Ayra Starr, Metallica, Rae Sremmurd, Toni Braxton, Teddy Swims, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and even Pavarotti. There is not one track or genre where it felt flat or overmatched. I was especially impressed with how it handled the hard charging guitar and drums in Tool’s “The Pot”. How it keeps the midbass snappy while also rumbling in the lower bass notes without losing composure is wonderfully impressive. Next up were the island beats of Arya Starr’s “Commas” which is less of a torture test, but it’s notable how the natural tenderness in her voice comes through. There isn’t one track where they performed poorly, and at this price range with the Sennheiser badge on it, they should! They’ve made some of the best headphones for decades and the Momentum Sport earbuds live up to the reputation. ANC The Active Noise Canceling works great and has an especially clear “transparency” feature that lets you listen to what’s going on around you without removing the earbuds. There’s also an anti-wind ANC mode, which is OK, but I only use it on very windy days because I feel like it compromises the sound quality a bit. Then again, it’s better than dealing with wind noise, so at least it’s effective when needed. Full ANC isn’t going to remove all of the background noise to complete silence, but it will dull them to a whisper that’s easily drowned out by anything you’re playing. FIT Excellent fit for me, but like all earbuds your experience is going to vary. To accommodate for this, Sennheiser includes 3 different sizes of ear “wings” and ear cushions. The wings kind of hook onto a curve of your earlobe while the cushion obviously goes in your ear canal. I was fortunate to find a setup that fit me well which is key to both good sound quality and actually staying in your ear. The earbuds themselves are small but have a bulbous feel which was kind of odd figuring out how they were supposed to fit in my ear (putting them in and twisting rearward works for me). However, once in they stayed put and I haven’t had an issue with them coming loose or falling out while walking, working, or lightly jogging. HEALTH FEATURES Heart rate and body temperature sensors…. Whaaa???? This is where things get really interesting, because I’ve never even heard of these features on headphones before. I honestly thought it was gimmicky at first, but Sennheiser might be onto something. Keeping track of our body temperature and heart rate while working out can help prevent overdoing it to dangerous levels, especially as the Summer heat hits. And as earbuds, they have the advantage of fitting into the ear canal (where physicians take temps) so why not track those readings? It’s also an excellent area to measure the pulse considering the arteries near our ears. There’s a disclaimer about the sensor’s medical accuracy, but that’s also the same with just about every fitness monitor on the market. If anything, I think measuring heart rate from the ear canal would provide more accurate results than from the wrist, but I need to test it out more to compare the results against my other fitness trackers. The health sensors are only in the left earbud, so if you’re often wearing only one of them, you can still track your readings. What’s also useful is how the sensors integrate with the Polar Flow app, which also integrates with Google Fit so it automatically tracks my workouts and how I’m physically doing. With the Polar Flow app synced to these headphones and my phone, I can set a walking or running workout and it’ll track my route, distance, pace, heart rate, and body temps. And since they’re IP55 rated, you can have peace of mind that they’ll hold up to heavy sweating, dust, and splashes. VERDICT Great job on being innovative with earbuds and health, Sennheiser! If music fidelity or fitness tracking is your thing, or if you just want good earbuds that stay put, I highly recommend the Sennheiser Momentum sport earbuds. Fit is obviously going to vary, but the variety of tips and wings should accommodate most ears. The sound quality is top notch and should satisfy everyone from the timbre critical sound snobs to the bassheads. They’re comfortable, stay put, and are easy to set up. If these are within your budget, I highly recommend them. PROS - Outstanding sound quality - Deep melodic bass - Natural vocals - Sound holds composure at high volumes - Comfortable to wear - Stays put in ear - High resolution aptX and AAC lossless audio codec - Heart rate and body temperature monitor - Integration with Polar Flow (syncs with Google Fit) - Excellent ANC noise reduction and transparency modes - Smart Control app tailored sound adjustments - IP55 splash/dust resistance - Wireless charging case - 5.5 hour battery life, 24 hrs with case recharge - Battery preservation option in app CONS - Case is bulky

    Almost Perfect Fitness-Oriented Buds

The Momentum Sport earbuds offer 5-star sound and are the most usable designed-for-fitness bud I’ve ever used. Almost everything I want in a fitness-oriented ear bud is here – body moving, but not overpowering, bass, excellent water/sweat resistance, and a confident fit. Most importantly (besides sound quality) they have a vent to eliminate that annoying occlusion effect – that sound of your footsteps thumping pavement - common with noise-cancelling buds. But some aspects do not “wow” me and make it a slightly less than perfect 4-star product. I’ll discuss my experience and thoughts below, including, of course the exclusive heart rate and temperature sensor features in this model. I’ll start with unboxing and inject my thoughts along the way to in-use, but I’ve titled key parts so you can skip ahead to what’s most important to you. IN THE BOX, BUILD QUALITY The Momentum Sport includes standard wireless earbud fare: 1. USB-C + Qi Wireless charging case (no wall charger) 2. 18” USB-C to USB A cable 3. One pair each of three different size silicone ear tips 4. One pair each of three different size silicone “wings” The approximately 2.5” square x 1” thick clamshell charging case is neither huge nor compact. An optional install loop with one section reinforced for a finger or carabiner is included. I find it convenient. The lid is magnetized for easy open and secure close. Except for the all-silicone hinge, the IP55 water resistant case is ABS-type plastic covered in silicone. The hinge is floppy, but not sloppy. The design doesn’t feel cheap, just different. That said, the slippery silicon is a minus to me. It needs texturizing. The USB-C port has a silicone cover, making it a little fiddly, but I suspect most people will charge wirelessly. The case’s battery holds three full charges (3x +/-5 hours music playback). A battery indicator shows whether the battery is charging or needs charging, but the exact battery % for both buds and case is available in the app. The buds magnetically position into the case when aligned with the charging contacts. Like the case, the buds are also IP55 rated. The appear solid and well-sealed. I don’t think an accidental drop would cause harm and a heavy sweat is not going to short these out for sure. There are no physical control buttons. Control is 100% touch – more on this later. They activate when removed from the case, a small blue LED on each bud alerts you to their ready state. The left bud houses the heart rate monitor which pulses green. INITIAL SET UP This is a quick two-step (maybe three) process – 1. Plug case it into a USB-C charger for a few seconds to “wake” it. 2. Tap device name in Sennheiser’s Smart Control App (iOS & Android) 3. Update firmware if requested, otherwise ready to play. If you have other Sennheiser wireless devices, you already have the right app, no need to download again. Big plus Sennheiser has a single app for all rather than forcing app clutter on users. Next is tips and wings fitment. Sample the various tips with app’s fit test to find which gives you the best seal. The Momentum Sport tips are translucent to pass light to the heart rate sensor. If you are a fan of 3rd party memory foam tips, know the heart rate monitor (HRM) can’t function with opaque tips. More on the HRM below, but my ears value memory foam tips over the HRM. Similarly, I opted to not use the wings. My ears didn’t find them necessary for a secure fit. I’ve ran many miles and have yet felt any movement sensation without them. If you do like or need the wings, these are soft and flexible. SMART CONTROL APP: FUNCTIONAL FEATURES + CONFIGURATION The Smart Control app delivers abundant functionality and listening preference options. Below is an overlook, not a deep dive, to understand the functionality and constraints of the most commonly used features. These buds are multi-point and the app manages all devices you use with them. You can even set up “sound zones” (after setting up a Sennheiser account, agree to privacy policy, etc.) for a more “set it and forget it” experience. For example, if you have a certain sound profile for in the house vs gym, “sound zone” will recognize when you are at the gym. Personally, it’s “too much” tracking for me, but I get the convenience. Three variations of external noise control are available: active noise control (ANC), anti-wind, and transparency. All can be activated via either in-app or taps on the buds. ANC blocks out all external noise without muffling audio quality. Transparency mode, on the other hand is less reliable. While three levels are available, low and high are mostly unusable. I couldn’t tell the difference between “low” transparency and ANC. And “high” transparency, especially outside, sounded like a wind tunnel. Only medium transparency is usable. It’s good, not great, at pumping in outside sounds. Bike bells and car horns are audible but it’s often hard for me to perceive their precise location. Anti-wind looks to be an interesting feature. Supposedly it reduces high wind noise. The weather has been calm, but hot, lately so I have not an opportunity to test it yet. Controls are 100% touch and, except for phone call functions, user configurable for number of taps and which earbud controls a given function (play/pause, skip, etc.). You can even tap to activate your favorite voice assistant (Siri, Alexa, etc.). Alternatively, disabling some or all touch commands is available. In my use I have yet to “make friends” with the Momentum Sport’s touch control, even when set to “low” sensitivity. Too often it interprets my single tap as a double, etc. More irritating, if I make a slight adjustment to a bud during a run it interprets it as a touch and makes an unintended change to song, volume, or noise control. So, I opted to turn off touch control except for a tap to active Siri. I now make all requests – volume, track, etc., via Siri. It takes a few seconds longer, but no false positives. This is my #1 annoyance with these earbuds and why I can’t give them 5-stars. SMART CONTROL APP: AUDIO CUSTOMIZATION The audio/equalization options for the Momentum Sport are strangely different than for it’s sibling Momentum True Wireless 4, but I think the outcome is probably the same. Both have a 5-band manual equalizer but each model’s way of guiding the user through customized audio presets is different. I liken the Momentum Sport’s “Sound Check” function to the audio version of being fitted for glasses. The optician asks which is clearer, “A,” or “B,” and here the app, playing a user selected song, ask which sounds better “A,” “B,” or “C.” This is done for each band of the equalizer. At the end you have your preset which you can still further tweak with the equalizer if you want. It’s quite effective. You can save multiple presets; you are not locked into just one. Alternatively, if you are proficient with a manual equalizer you can go straight to it to make your music recipe. FITNESS FEATURES The Momentum Sport’s marquee features are its unique (to earbuds) heart rate monitor and body temperature sensor. But as a runner, what actually impressed me was its ability to banish the “thump, thump, thump” of the occlusion effect, something that has prevented me from running with ANC buds in the past. Thumbs up too that these buds are virtually sweat proof. The heart rate sensor, though, has no use to me. I have two watches with optical HRM’s – an Apple Watch 8 and a Garmin Forerunner 955. Each of them reports, +/- 1 or 2 beats, the same heart rate as the Momentum Sport. And even if the Momentum Sport is pinpoint accurate, I’m not a super-athlete. Whether I’m running at 158 or 160, it’s not going to matter. Then we get to the temperature sensor, which I though was interesting, even though it’s co-marketed with Polar, and I use a Garmin watch. I figured I could export the data from the Sennheiser app to the Apple Health app. Nope. Hopefully maybe Sennheiser can make this possible in the future. Until then the body temperature feature is mostly useless to me and probably anyone that doesn’t own a Polar watch. To be clear you can read real time temperature data in the Smart Control app, you just can’t export it from there. MUSIC & PHONE AUDIO QUALITY + IN USE EXPERIENCE, I use an iPhone. I mention this only because while the Momentum Sport has Bluetooth 5.2 and supports the highest audio quality codecs aptX and aptX adaptive, the only codec the iPhone is compatible with here is AAC. AAC isn’t terrible but not the best available either. iPhone users: go to the app settings and set to “standard resolution.” The good news here is, even in “standard resolution,” these buds sound amazing. Vocals are clear (where the artist intended) and, as mentioned, the bass is tight and punchy (also where intended), yet treble isn’t sacrificed. Even without the “fancy” codecs these are the best sounding wireless buds I’ve ever heard. Phone call quality, both ways, is excellent. On my end clarity is perfect so long as the caller has a good connection. But what really struck me was I get far fewer “where are you,” or “what was that,” comments compared to my other wireless buds. FIT & FINAL WORDS Every ear is different, but the Momentum Sports are well behaved and stable when I’m running. I’m hesitant to discuss comfort because people’s tolerances are wide-ranging. I do find I need to jiggle them after an hour because my ears get a tad irritated. I wear them for 2-3 hours per session, but they will not be my “go to” for a plane trip. In sum, these are excellent sounding and purpose-built buds for a fitness lifestyle, but suitable for casual use too. The HRM and temperature monitor features are marketing highlights but not a reason to buy these unless you use a Polar watch. I’m not a fan of the touch controls, but my using Siri as an alternative is a reasonable and worthwhile workaround to me.

It's not a bad product at all in fact the sound is exceptional. However, depending on your type of ears you might find these somewhat uncomfortable. The biggest downfall to this product is the case which opens easily and stops charging the headset. As far as the temperature detection of your body, I thought it was interesting but I had no Real use for it.

What They Come With Inside the box you will find the earbuds, a carrying/charging case, earbud tips, earfins, a short USB-C to USB-A charging cord, a strap for the carrying case, and instructions. Set-up The set-up was really easy. Start with charging the earbuds. Pair the earbuds with your phone. These use Bluetooth connectivity, and paired really easily for me. There’s a Sennheiser Smart Control app to download for more control of the headphones. Upon establishing an app connection you will need to download any available firmware updates. You can customize the earbuds by changing the size of the eartips for the comfort of your ear. Also, there are earfins that you can slide on. I didn’t find the earfins very comfortable of helpful. Use the app to adjust other settings for the earbuds. Quality The earbuds have a solid build to them. It’s to the point where they feel a little heavy. There’s a carry/charging case with these earbuds. It’s quite a bit larger than the cases for other earbuds that I have used or seen. Quality-wise the case is good except for the hinge side of the case. It’s a flimsy feeling material that I would expect to tear over time. I feel like I need to baby that when I open it. Comfort These are not that comfortable to me due to the size and weight of the earbud. Adjusting the eartips can help some with that. I do not like the earfins. Special Features The Momentum Sport earbuds are designed for active people and have a couple of extra features: Heart Rate Monitor – These will measure your heart rate while wearing both earbuds. There’s a problem with that for me as I may only wear one earbud while walking so that I can be more aware of what is going on around me. The heart rate monitor only works with both in. Temperature Monitor – These also measure your temperature. One catch to using these features is that you need a Polar account. If you don’t already have one, you’d have to sign up for another account to use these features. It’s not built in to the Sennheiser app that you download. Water Resistance – This is also mentioned as a sporty feature. Other than sweat I have not put these in contact with any water, so I do not know how water resistant these are. The package says IP55 splash resistant. Audio Quality The sound quality is clear. I wouldn’t say that it’s stunning, but it’s solid compared to other earbuds I have used. There are controls in the app to help customize the sound quality. One odd sound issue with these is that there’s a clicking noise when nothing is playing. I’m guessing that it’s the monitoring feature possibly. Seems like this shouldn’t happen. Controls The controls for the Momentum Sport are not good. The touch controls are way too sensitive. I can’t adjust the earbuds without changing my volume, track, or noise cancellation. And when these are designed for an active person, you should expect for people to stop and adjust the earbuds. Overall These earbuds are just okay. While they do have a good sound quality and boast some sporty features, I find them a little too heavy and hard to control. The over-sensitive touch controls make this a hard product to use in active scenarios, and that’s the target audience for these. For me the Momentum Sport earbuds get just barely a 3 star rating.

First Impressions of Packaging: Initially, the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds present a disappointing unboxing experience. The packaging, looks cheap and generic for such a premium brand. It resembles something you might find hanging in a grocery store near the checkout. I'm not saying that a box matters, but if this was hanging next to a similarly priced competitor you're certainly not going to gravitate to the Sennheiser. Product Design and Features: Once past the initial box disappointment, the earbuds themselves impress. The charging case, though slightly larger than preferred, offers a smooth touch and convenient wireless charging. The earbuds are easy to handle, slotting effortlessly back into the charger. Initial setup is straightforward with the Sennheiser app, though a heads up that these earbuds lack a physical power button, requiring a USB-C connection to activate them initially. Pairing to more devices is as easy as tapping and holding on both earbuds while they're in ear and putting them into pairing mode. Comfort and Fit: Fit is crucial for earbuds, and the Momentum Sport excels here. They secure easily into the ear without the need for additional support wings (for me anyway). These buds remain stable during workouts, like running on a treadmill or using an elliptical, but I found them not to be ideal for sleeping due to their thickness. Sound Quality: As expected from Sennheiser, the sound quality is superb. The app’s EQ settings easy to adjust once I found the drop down, though I generally used Natural and sometimes Pop. App Integration and Customization: The Sennheiser app deserves praise for its user-friendly interface and customizable features. Users can rearrange app tiles to suit their preferences, which is a refreshing departure from the norm where most audio manufactures apps are a hot mess. However, integrating the earbuds' sport sensors with Apple Health is cumbersome, requiring registration with Polar Flow. This process is not only tedious but also limited, as it does not support all sensor data, such as temperature. Connectivity: For those deeply integrated into the Apple ecosystem like me, the dual connection capability of the Momentum Sport was a big checkbox to fill. The earbuds do handle multiple device connections effortlessly, allowing me to switch between devices without hassle like playing a game on my tablet while being able to answer an incoming call from my phone. Active Features: The earbuds are equipped with heart rate and temperature sensors, which are precise but underutilized by me due to the restrictive data sharing policies of associated apps. Noise cancellation is exceptional, possibly the best available for in-ear models, although the transparency mode is just average. Conclusion: The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds are a high-quality audio accessory marred by poor packaging and some questionable app integration choices. They offer exceptional sound quality and excellent fit. Despite some flaws, these earbuds are a strong contender for anyone looking for reliable workout companions that do not compromise on sound or comfort.

A Solid Choice for Active Audiophiles

The Sennheiser Momentum Sports earbuds deliver on the brand's reputation for audio quality in a package designed for active lifestyles. The setup is straightforward. You download the app and connect it via Bluetooth and you’re ready to go. The app is well-built, easy to navigate and full of customizable features. I particularly like the addition of fitness tracking features like heart rate and body temperature monitoring. A very interesting concept in wireless earbuds. I compared the data against a couple of dedicated fitness trackers I own and the results were mostly accurate except from some occasional lagging. I always track my data during my workouts and the integration with other fitness apps is a nice touch and a big plus for me. Another original feature is the Sound Zones that lets you customize the noise control modes and the equalizer depending on where you are. It works well for me and is simple to set up. The sound quality is good, offering a powerful and dynamic listening experience, although it may not be the most refined for audiophiles. There are three noise control modes: Active Noise Cancelation (ANC) does a great job at isolating from the outside noise. Anti Wind mode is a notch down from ANC and this setting is impressive at suppressing wind noise from the outdoors while not isolating you completely from the outside world. I’ve tried it at the park next to my workplace where the wind is always strong and it truly works. Transparency mode lets in the sound from the outside but, in my opinion, it is not transparent enough. I use this mode at work and it’s still difficult to hear someone’s voice or outside noise unless the volume is set very low. Battery life is decent and lasts me all day. With heavy use, you should definitely recharge at the end of the day. The Momentum Sport earbuds are a bit bulky; the biggest earbuds I’ve ever owned but they’re remarkably light and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The secure fit is a major plus, ensuring the earbuds stay in place even during intense movement. They come with a range of ear tip options for customizable comfort. The app has a Fit test that is surprisingly good and helped me achieve a perfect fit in less than two minutes. Once put in place in your ears, they stay put even with constant head movements. They’re the first earbuds I’ve been able to wear while working out that would stay put for whole sessions. They’ve been comfortable enough to wear at work for hours at a time. The controls can be customized through the app, however, I’ve experienced a few inconsistencies with the touch responses. I would recommend the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds for physical activity enthusiasts who prioritize sound quality and secure fit and who are willing to invest in premium sports earbuds. While they might be bulky, they are comfortable to wear, they offer several unique features and they excel in the areas that matter most for an active lifestyle.

Sennheiser gets Sporty with its Premium Sound

We're all familiar with Sennheiser audio but they have now added biometrics to their premium earbud line. Overall sound is impressive, and it packs the features needed whether your sweating or encounter a little dust along the way. **In the Box** Lanyard for charging case, 3 earfins, 3 tips included. Instructions, Quick Start Guide. USB-A to USB-C cable if needed. Packaging is typical and adequate. They could improve the packaging a bit, but the hardware is on point. **Build Quality** The case is built out of hard plastic and rubber. There’s a rubber flap over the charging port to make it water resistant too. Earbuds are shock, dust, and sweat resistant so everything is covered here. (IP55 on earbuds, IP54 on charging case.) The case has a magnet that helps keep it shut, not a spring. There’s a lanyard connection area on the lower right side of the case. I love the case build, earbuds look high-tech and they are. **Features** Sports sensors for both heart rate and temperature, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C charging, QI charging, customizable equalizer Day one Firmware update took about 10 minutes **Controls** Tap Controls for operation, Can be customized in Smart Control App. You can also control touch sensitivity which is nice. All controls are double-tap or triple-tap. Personally it took me a while to get used to the taps which was more of me adapting to how the buds sat in my ear canals. Controls are fairly basic. I wish there were more options here besides double and triple tap. **Smart Control App** This is one of the most comprehensive apps I’ve seen for a set of earbuds/headphones. I can’t mention all of them but here are some highlights Control ANC, Wind, or Set transparency Set Custom zones for sound settings (Such as work, home, gym, etc…) The nice thing about transparency mode is give you full sound around you but it knocks out the wind noise. Set equalizers or setup a custom equalizer through Sound Check Sports sensors for heart rate or body temperature - This can be tracked through Polar flow app **Comfort** Fit was very secure for running and there are 2 additional tips for large or smaller ears. This is paramount when running, cycling, or working out. They were comfortable but after a couple of hours my ears were a little sore a couple of times. **Battery** I got about 5.5 hours of playback and you can charge about 3 more times from the case until you need to plug the case in again. Charging time was about 1.5 hours. There is a feature where you can get about 45 minutes of juice with 10 minutes of charging. **Performance** Sound quality is very good with good bass definition. You have the option of turning on a bass boost too within the Smart Control app. I tried a variety of music and I thoroughly enjoyed everything from movie soundtracks to hip-hop to rock. ANC is solid, it helps me concentrate while working and blocks out a significant amount of noise. Transparency mode kicks in on demand or when taking phone calls which gives it a more natural sound when talking on the phone. I compared the heart rate sensor with my watch and it seemed fairly accurate. I downloaded the Polar flow app where you can track heart rate and temperature during workouts and this data can then be transferred to a variety of apps that you use for training. **Pros** *Great sound and good bass definition *Case is cool, lanyard is a nice touch *Heart rate and temperature sensors are nice for exercise *Noise cancellation works well **Cons** *Earbuds are bigger than most *Translucent tips need to be replace with the same tips due to biometric function **Conclusion** Sennheiser unquestionably delivered the sound on these earbuds, and they are great for running which is a big plus for me. I have a heart rate monitor on my watch but I can see how these would be great for those that don’t currently have a heart monitor and you get the added plus of a temperature monitor. Even though these aren’t perfect, I’m giving them 5 stars for excellent sound, a comprehensive app, and the added plus of health features anyone can use while working out. One important tip: Make sure you tap and hold both earbuds for 6 seconds to enter pairing mode. Even though your device detects them, it won't pair unless you enter pairing mode.

One the most annoying issues I have encountered while working out with earbuds is one, or both, earbuds falling out in the middle of a rep, on the treadmill or at any other point when I’m in the zone. There have even been times when one has fallen behind or underneath a piece of equipment where I have to completely stop what I’m in the middle of, get an employee, and wait minutes while my heart rate drops. Fortunately, with the new Sennheiser Momentum Sport wireless earbuds, I don’t have that worry about the occasional lost earbud unless my wife smacks them out of my ears when I don’t respond to her because I literally can’t hear anything when wearing them with the adaptive noise cancellation technology combined with their airtight fit. Not only have I been using them while working out but also around the house where my wife and I take care of up to eight children with our in-home daycare business; they work great to drown out the constant ambient sound of screaming children five days a week. If they don’t quite fit out of the box, they included several sizes of earfins and eartips for a better fit. The Momentum Sport earbuds rock the latest Qualcomm aptX processor, adaptive noise cancelling, Bluetooth 5.2, are rated IP55 splash resistant and allow for wireless charging. They are very easy to set up, sync to your smart device and the Smart Control App. After a quick hardware update, you can spend some time tinkering with the settings via the app to adjust the equalizer, toggle through the noise cancellation controls and download the third-party app, Polar, that allows for the earbuds to track your heart rate and body temperature which is great for those who don’t want to wear another device while working out such as a smart watch. Being an avid audiophile for over thirty years, I also have high expectations and a keen sense for sound in general. Sennheiser has been one of the leaders in the audio industry for decades and they continue to impress with their new Momentum Sport earbuds. You can always expect to hear clear highs and heavy bass from their products combined with the latest technology. They honestly sound great with any genre of music, movies or shows. Because of the amount of features, great sound and secure fit, the Momentum Sport earbuds may eventually end up being my most used earbuds even over my other high-end non-sport earbuds just to have some reassurance I probably won’t loose one under the couch.

For starters these earbuds are IP55 splash resistant. That means they’re dust resistant but not completely dust tight and can withstand water exposure for up to 55 minutes at one atmosphere. So, they’re not waterproof but should be OK in the rain and protected from perspiration but should not be used for swimming. The case is 2.5” square and can charge via USB-C or wireless charging. The case has a nice soft finish instead of hard plastic and includes a small lanyard to attach it to a bag or to prevent dropping it. Unlike most earbuds I’ve used, these can be removed very easily from the case even with big fingers. Aside from the earbuds, the package includes S/M/L ear tips and S/M/L ear fins that help keep the earbuds securely inserted. There’s also a fin with no extension if you prefer to not use them. The earbuds work in partnership with Polar and their Polar Flow app and can track you Heart Rate and Body Temperature through the left earbud. Through the Polar Flow app, you can share the information real time with other platforms such as Strava and other sports apps or devices. The app is one of the fullest featured I’ve used. It includes the ability to created “Sound Zones” based on a certain distance of your GPS coordinates that will set the Noise Control (ANC/Anti-Wind/Transparency) and Equalizer when entering or exiting the area. The earbuds offer much more control directly from the devices because tapping the ear bud directly versus tapping your cheek in front of it or touching and holding it can be programed for different functions. The equalizer has a Bass Boost and a Podcast toggle, as well as Natural, Rock, Pop, Dance, Hip Hop, Classical, Movie and Jazz presets. There is also the option to set additional presets based on 5 frequency ranges. You can also perform a Sound Check where you play your favorite music, then similar an eye test it will scroll through each frequency range and ask you to select which of 3 setting sounds the best. Once done it will save that configuration as an equalizer preset. The Noise Control setting allows you to set you mode to either ANC, Anti Wind or Transparency, and in each mode, you have the option to set the transparency level, whether transparency should be active (low/high) during phone calls and whether music should be paused if transparency mode is activated. Additionally, the app has a Fit Test that will guide you through getting the correct fit for each earbud. In my case it determined I needed a larger ear tip in one ear than the other! I wasn’t surprised that the sound from this unit was fantastic, and there was no noted latency when using them paired to a computer, tablet or my TV when watching movies.

The heart rate and body temp monitors are pretty much spot on. They work extremely well. They tested out as being the same or close to what my watch reports. The Earbuds charge quite quickly. Wireless charging is also an option. Battery life is extremely good. The app is very well designed and is not overwhelming. Easy to find what you are looking for. The default ear cups are quite comfortable and a perfect fit for me. ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) is one of the better results I have ever had with earbuds. This was truly outstanding. All of the extras work very well. Passthrough audio worked fine. Controls are good and easy to follow. BUT... The key piece of earbuds is how they perform in their basic functions. Sound quality, mic quality, etc. For a name like Sennheiser, I was expecting top quality audio. The rest of the package was bonus if they were any good. Unfortunately these fell flat. Flat. That is the only way I can describe the sound quality, flat. Everything is flat. I have gone thru the Sound Check, messed with the Equalized, change Noise Control settings. Nothing makes the sound pop. Bass boost is not good, it flattens the rest of the audio further and does not enhance the bass. Turning this off made the sound less flat, but was still lacking badly. Beyond that, the mic when in a call is horrendous. Everyone I spoke with said the same thing, they hear themselves. That echo makes conversations uncomfortable. Not only is the audio on my side poor, they are hearing themselves which affects how they are communicating. The case is kind of odd also. It has this rubbery patch that goes from the back that covers the USB Type C port and around the bottom to the base of the lid. It is very flexible, and a piece that makes me feel safe in saying it will tear at some point and the lid will no longer be attached. A hinge would have been a much better design choice. I really was expecting better. I can't say I would recommend these. Hopefully I just got a bad set.

Overall, the Momentum Sports have solid sound and decent fit. They sport an IP55 case which matches the earbuds themselves. The case itself does charge the buds and the earbuds magnetically attach to the case itself, so I had no issues getting the earbuds in (and out) of the case. Inside the box you get: USB Cable Ear tips Wing Ear Tips Wireless charging case The setup was a breeze. Download the Smart Control app, follow the instructions (might need to let the firmware update, but this does not take long). The earbuds do have ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) and it performs decent, so no huge complaints from me in that area. There are touch controls on the earbuds themselves, which I found a bit sensitive. I ended up just disabling what I could to avoid accidental touches when adjusting to touching the earbuds. They also come with a heart rate sensor and temperature sensor. For my use case, neither was particularly useful, but I imagine there are some that would make use of one or the other (or both). As far as the sound goes, I was not disappointed. Sennheiser is well known for audio devices, and these are no exception. I found the audio very clear and crisp with little to no distortion. The few phone calls I took were excellent as well, and the person on the other end said I sounded very clear with little background noise. I am happy with the Momentum Sport earbuds from Sennheiser. They are feature rich, sound excellent, and aside from very sensitive touch controls, I have enjoyed using them.

I've been altering from over the ear and earbuds lately when i was hitting the gym but now with the new Momentum Sport from Sennheiser i picked my choice! The sound it's good but not out of this world it's everything you need for a good workout. The noise cancelation works as intended and the aware/transparency mode makes it convenient when you have people that you train with so you can comunicate without taking them off or what not. I really use that mode a lot. The Battery in this earbuds go strong ... it's been a while since i charged them last and they still operate! I like the case, it's got a nice grip to it and holds the earpieces very well! Even tough the buds come with additional fins for a better in ear grip i found myself wearing them just like they come and i feel like they are very comfortable allowing me to run or exercise without any kind of issues! Now the Heart rate monitoring and Temperature is where this earbuds are worth buying! I do really like the fact that they are always snug fit and get a good measurement at all times unlike a watch where it's mostly loose. Definitely the ip55 rating helps making this earbuds sweat and shock resistant a good all around sports companion!

Although I found a couple of drawbacks to these headphones, for the most part they work really well and the added heart rate and temperature sensors seals the deal for being really good workout headphones. Setup is painless as usual. The Smart Control app walks you through the setup process fairly quickly (updating the firmware is a lengthy process, though). Once you're set up you have a lot of options to play with in the app to tweak things to your liking. You can have the earbuds automatically test their fit so you can see if you should use a different tip for your ears. The already installed one felt fine for me. They also include 4 sets of wings you can install if you prefer those or need them to help keep the earbuds in your ear. I found even the smallest ones fairly uncomfortable and I didn't have any issues with the buds staying in my ear without them. My favorite part of the setup process was not being forced to create an account just to use the app. I thought the headphones sounded pretty good. Probably not the best earbuds I've ever heard but they have a good sound. I liked it a little more with bass boost enabled. I didn't think it was crazy overpowered bass even with it enabled so I'll probably end up leaving it on. You have custom EQ settings you can adjust to get the sound the way you like it. These headphones also do have a more advanced audio codec that enhances the sound pretty substantially at the cost of some potential connection issues. I didn't notice many connection issues, but it is warned about in the app when you enable it. The ambient modes work pretty well. There's a setting to set how loud your want transparency mode which is pretty nice. Although, I found transparency mode still got drown out by what I was listening to quite a bit even at it's highest setting. Active noise canceling works well. It did a good job at canceling out a lot of the noise around me (including my kids, to some degree, which is an accomplishment). Lastly, I've always worn a chest strap head rate monitor to the gym because my watch just doesn't do a great job while I'm lifting. Having a heart rate monitor and temperature monitor built in to the earbuds I'm already planning on wearing is pretty awesome. One small downside I found was the inaccuracy with tapping on the earbuds to control them. There is no single tap interaction so everything is either two or three taps (or a hold) and it felt very inconsistent with detecting three taps for me. So I found myself pausing my music when I wanted to turn on Passive mode or something a lot. The only other real downside was the uncomfortable wings but that's probably more of an issue with my ears. If you're looking for a pair of earbuds for the gym, I think these are pretty close to perfect. If you're not going to be using them for the heart rate monitor and such, you can probably shop around a little more but these are still nice sounding and comfortable earbuds that might be what you're looking for anyways.
