Shark ION Rocket Cord-Free Ultra-Light Stick Vacuum
The Shark ION Rocket Cord-Free Ultra-Light Stick Vacuum arrived well packed. It was held steady inside its box with fitted cardboard inserts to keep it secure during transport. All separate parts were wrapped in plastic bags and/or smaller cardboard boxes. The Shark box was also inside a slightly larger packing box.
The vacuum came unassembled, but there were only 3 “click” attachments necessary to assemble it. The wand clicked into the floor nozzle; the handheld vacuum clicked into the wand; and the rechargeable power pack clicked into the handheld vacuum. Also included in the box were: the power pack charger which is a wall plug that can be attached to the rechargeable power pack; a pet multi-tool; an 8 inch crevice tool; an anti-allergen dust brush; a quick start guide; and a more detailed user guide.
The handheld vacuum itself is the top piece that includes the power button, the settings buttons, the dust cup, the motor, and the handle. Below that is the wand. Below that is the floor nozzle which has wheels for rolling on the floor and has a brush roll in it. The handheld vacuum (top piece) can be used without the wand to vacuum short reach areas and it can be used with the wand to vacuum long reach areas. If used with both the wand and the floor nozzle, it will vacuum the floor while you are standing.
Charging: The power pack can be charged while it is inside the vacuum or out. You can also purchase a charging dock separately for the power pack as well as spare power packs to ensure you always have a charged battery. My power pack came partially charged but the instructions said to charge it fully before using. There are a set of battery indicator lights on the power pack to let you know how much charge is remaining. The instructions say after you first charge the battery fully, you need to let it completely discharge to condition the pack. The instructions also say that they battery takes 3.5 hours to completely charge and the battery can remain connected to the charger even after reaching full charge.
Use: The vacuum has 2 surface settings: carpet and bare floor. It also has 2 suction settings: “Extend Runtime” for everyday cleaning or “Max Power” for heavy-duty cleaning. The vacuum has a swiveling base on the floor nozzle which makes it easy to maneuver around furniture. The floor nozzle has forward facing lights so you can see in front of the vacuum in dark areas. To use, just press the power button and choose your surface and suction settings, then start to vacuum.
Emptying the dust cup is simple. Just press a button to remove the vacuum from the wand and press the dust cup release button over a waste bin. The bottom of the dust cup flips open and the contents fall into the waste bin.
Attachments: The vacuum also comes with attachments which can be used in either the long or short reach setup. The Pet Multi-Tool comes apart making it 2 separate tools. One is a stiff brush for stuck-on debris and the other is an upholstery tool for removing pet hair. The Anti-Allergen Dust Brush is used for removing fine dust on delicate surfaces. The 8 inch Crevice Tool is for baseboards and tight spaces. It can also be used to help to reach the ceiling for cobwebs. You can also purchase a Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool and/or an under-appliance wand but I already owned these with my upright Shark vacuum. You can also purchase an onboard storage clip to keep your attachments connected to the wand of this stick vacuum.
Storage: There is a place labeled on the side of the vacuum to show where you can hang it on a wall. I have wire shelves in my utility room and used an S hook to hang the vacuum on the side of one of the shelves next to my Shark upright vacuum cleaner. The vacuum will not stand up on its own. You can lean it against a corner wall but I preferred to hang mine so it doesn’t get knocked over accidentally. The manual says you can also purchase a wall mount for it on their web site.
Filters: There is a foam filter and a felt filter. These are located in separate locations on the handheld vacuum but can be easily removed for cleaning. To clean them, rinse them thoroughly until the water runs clear. Then let them dry completely before putting back inside the vacuum. Instructions for finding the release buttons to remove the filters are included in the user guide. The User Guide recommends cleaning the filters once a month.
I have been looking for a handheld cordless vacuum because I didn’t want to always have to use my larger upright for quick clean ups. I was considering a “dust buster” type vacuum but this is really so much more. You can use it as a regular vacuum cleaner, as well as a long reach ceiling cleaner, or also as a long reach baseboard cleaner, or you can just use the handheld vacuum piece for short reach cleaning. Keeping it charged means it’s always ready for use and it is light weight so it’s easy to carry from my utility room to any place in my home. I will still use my larger upright vacuum for my weekly whole house vacuuming but this will be a wonderful addition.

So let me start by saying I have a 1000 square foot floor that I am using this on. Before I received this, I was using a Swiffer Sweeper and a Bissell Pet for a shag rug on the floor. The Shark ION Rocket eliminates both. The great thing is that is way more powerful than the swiffer and on the brush mode goes over the shag rug with no issues. The battery takes a few hours to charge which is somewhat of a surprise compared to other lithium batteries but I can vacuum for about 20 minutes with a blend of normal and high and it takes no bard away from the battery. My guess is that I will only need to charge this every week or so. The attachments appear to be very useful although I haven't had a chance to use them. I t will make it easy to clean our ceiling fan blades from our balcony with this vacuum. I also love the little led headlights. I never realized how much I like them. They actually make all the dog hair very easy to see. I am so happy about this vacuum and can't wait to use it more. Great job Shark! My only complaint is that it does not come with a wall storage attachment unless you pay extra.

Absolutely love this Shark!!! It's extremely light weight and portable. I use it as a duster for the blinds, ceiling fan, and entertainment center which works wonders making fast work and less mess. It is amazing for the tile floors and is absolutely replacing us using the broom to sweep up messes. All the attachments are great with quick assembly and detachment. I haven't used the battery to depletion yet as I was too excited to just get started and use this Shark to start cleaning. But the battery is easily charged with the outlet adapter and snaps right into place. Once you fill the bag less dirt trap, there is one simple click of a button to empty. Very easy and user friendly. My wife loves it and it is a very quite and powerful machine for dusting and quick clean ups.

Pretty Good Vacuum

I consider this a pretty good vacuum based on the size and power of it. It stays charged for quite awhile. I vacuumed almost the entirety of the main floor of my home and it only lost one bar. For quick jobs or for hardwood floors this is a great option. It will pick up most everything on hardwood floors and pick up some stuff on carpeted floors. However, for serious pet dander I will use a more heavy duty vacuum. I have a cat that sheds A LOT and this vacuum only picked up part of it. In my kitchen, there was one crumb that it did not pick up as well. Overall, a good option. It worked great on my bathroom floor. Setup was very easy as well.

This it’s without doubts one of my best additions to the vacuum park at home (I was already equipped with the vacuum-robot and the big professional traditional with cord). Easy to move and to clean in the different parts of the house, I don’t need the same prep time as with the robot (that require all the wires or the kids’ toys being out of its way, or the traditional cord vacuum that being heavier has a tedious plug/unplug process).
Cordless integrates interesting new cleaning areas such the stairs, the fans or the windows (I guess that you can include all those areas at your eyes-level that you were not considering to vacuum before because the weight of your traditional appliance).
This model works amazing in carpet and hard surfaces and I like the switch near the power where you can change the basic parameters (hard surface vs carpet and regular power vs more power). The power is not adding a lot of weight and my 7 y-o is now taking care of his own bedroom (comparing it, is as light as my professional drilling machine).
With a powerful batterie I have enough autonomy to clean the full house more than a couple of times with a single recharge.
The only downside is that the space reserved for collecting the dust is quite small, after cleaning 2 or 3 medium size rooms(while a traditional model gives you storage for the entire 5 or 6 rooms’ house) you must empty it, opening the tank over your trash can and this is an absolutely manual process, pushing the bottom and shaking it.

I'm really impressed with the suction and battery life so far. I've used it on both rugs and hard floors with success. I have a dog who sheds a lot, and I was a bit unsure how this would do on my area rugs, but it's a champ. Much better than my (15 year old) Dyson Animal, in fact. The vacuum is lightweight, and the size and shape of it, plus the head light, make it great for tighter spaces. I haven't used it as a hand vac yet, or played with the attachments, but so far I love this vacuum!

I needed a vaccum for downstairs and for smaller jobs. This one does the trick very well. It's easy to assemble, very light and maueuverable, and POWERFUL. I first used it where I had vaccumed recently and it still picked up pet hair. The settings provide excellent power for many types of surfaces. I would recommend this vaccum for many different purposes.

Cordless and Convenient

After using this vacuum for a few weeks I can confidently say that this delivers on many levels. The main thing that annoys me when cleaning the house is dragging around the power cord and worrying if it will snag and break anything. With this, I never need to worry since it is battery powered. The battery charges with ease and is even easier to click in/out of the unit. I was a little concerned about the battery live but can attest that I live in a 4 bedroom home and have had no issues with the unit dying before being done cleaning.
Another feature that I enjoy about the Shark ION is the reach is provides. I can easily get all window treatments with ease as well as those hard to reach group/corner spots that would normally require me to move furniture to get to.
If there was one, very minor design update that I would note is that it does not store optimally. It’s oddly shaped and does not “click” into a storage unit. In my opinion, this is not enough of a design flaw to discourage purchasing this, but thought I would note.
I changed from a “standard” vacuum to this cordless model and have not experience any issues and would recommend this to any future buyers.

The suction is great on the vacuum and it comes with a multitude of tools. We have two cats and one dog, along with 2 roombas picking up the cat and dog fur. We try to be as clean as possible, and the Pet stick definitely helps get all the spot our roombas can't. The Pet Stick picked works phenomenal on carpet and tile which was a surprise to me.
One thing I did not like is the fact the the accessory tips for the pet stick do not snap into place. You just shove them onto the vacuum tube.
The biggest downside is that the vacuum does not come with a wall mount to keep all of the accessories and the vacuum in one neat place. However, you can buy a wall mount separately if this is an issue.
I will be buying the wall mount from Shark since I like to keep everything organized.

This is the best thing since sliced bread. Super easy assembly. Extremely light weight. I was very surprised at the suction and didn't even realize I didn't have it on maximum. Easy to empty. I am a retiree and have low back pain and lugging out a regular vacuum or upright is a chore and sweeping with the broom is worse because I need to bend a lot to brush the dirt into a dustpan. You can literally hold it up with one finger and it seems like it is almost self propelled. I won't mind bringing this out for little accidents with cereal, broken glass (wish I had this yesterday). I sent my daughter out to my car to see how it would work. She came in after a few minutes and said, "Done." She said it was so easy that she ended up vacuuming her car out there as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I've been using a Hoover upright for many years but due to it's weight and the wire that always gets in the way and the canister that has to be removed in order to clean it out, I vacuum very rarely. This Shark ION Rocket is so light and easy to manipulate around the furniture, I actually enjoyed vacuuming the floor. The battery took about 2 hours to charge and I was on my way. In a snap it converts to a handheld so I could clean the chairs and corners of the room without having to go back after I finish the floors. Holding it over the trash can, I pressed the button, the lid opened and the dust dropped out. I'm really looking forward to vacuuming the house again next week.
