Customers consistently note the IQ Robot R101's excellent cleaning performance and ease of use, with many praising its effective pet hair pickup and long battery life. However, some users experienced issues with navigation and reported that the robot is sometimes noisy and the mapping process could be improved. While the price point is considered favorable by some, concerns were also raised regarding suction power and app connectivity.

This is my 1st robot style vacuum and I couldn't be happier. It is not the top-of-the-line robot but does a good job just the same. My only issue with the Shark- IQ Robot R101 is it is noisy, but as one reviewer stated usually you're not at home while it's running. The one feature I like the most is the cutter. My granddaughters have very long hair and this particular model cuts the hair so it does not wrap around the beater bar - excellent feature. I also like the mapping feature. It does take about 3x's of complete house cleaning to finally map your home, but this is good in order to ensure it doesn't miss any area. I must say though, I do find it challenging sectioning off each room in order to clean a single area vs the entire house. It operates via wi-fi 2.4Ghz, luckily my router operates at 5 or 2.4Ghz so this is not an issue. All-in-all you won't go wrong with this purchase.

We looked at several robot vaccuum systems to get a mapped one upwards of 600 plus. We like most about this is our experience is that it doesn't just doesn't bump into stuff it moves in rows instead of just going all over the place. It comes with some barrier stripping to put in areas that you may not want it to go under a dresser or a bed where it could get stuck.. it takes a little planning to make sure you proof your home for unplanned interruption our experience is it works well this model does well with shedding pets. We do empty and clean the brush daily. Overall I reccomend we had for about two weeks no obvious regrets yet. We have another downstairs consumer reports rated as best buy but we like the shark much better because of the uuniform cleaning and mapping. It picked up dirt and hair well no complaints.

A Shark That Attacks Dirt On Land!

This is my first self cleaning vacuum and am wowed by it's features. It can scan the room and avoid objects that come in it's path (although at times because of this it completely misses vacuuming a specific area). You can also view the status of the vacuum via the Shark Clean app and is very handy! One of the things I was a little disappointed with is the side air holes. As it is vacuuming, sometimes debris is pushed by the air coming out of the Shark's side holes. This causes for it to then not get vacuumed. Although this doesn't happen often, it is a minor thing I've noticed. The battery life of the Shark vacuum lasts for about an hour and is enough to vacuum multiple rooms in the house. It also is able to vacuum multiple floor types like hardwood and tile which is an added plus. Since I have both tile and carpeted areas in my home, I was able to observe that those areas were indeed vacuumed well. One of the biggest pros of having a small portable, self cleaning vacuum (other than it cleaning floors for you) is that it will clean hard to reach areas. Areas like under couches, sofas, beds, etc. are areas I consider needing to do more work to clean. With the Shark vacuum, it not only cleans these areas for you, but also saves you the hassle of you moving furniture or having to reach under them to clean.

I was skeptical on how well these actually worked, but with all of our bare floors and carpeted flooring I can really notice a difference since having this and running it daily. I’m amazed at how much is in the cartridge when I empty it. We have 2 dogs and it does great with pet hair, as I don’t see dog hair “tumbleweeds” floating across the bare floors or hanging in the corners.

I have a Roomba, which is a nice little robot vacuum that really helps keep our shedding dog's hair at bay. It drives me crazy though as it seems to take a random path along the floor, often staying in the same small area for 10 minutes, repeatedly attempting to go in the same direction that's blocked. Enter the Shark - a robot vacuum actually made by a company that makes vacuums and other cleaning tools! The "IQ" designation means it maps your house as it's cleaning. It's wifi supported, and can be run via an app on your phone. It also supports Google Assistant and Alexa. I immediately noticed when it started cleaning it's considerably louder than the Roomba. That really shouldn't be a dealbreaker, as generally you will schedule it to clean when you're not around, but I feel it's worth mentioning. What I found ironic is that it moves around your floors in a much more efficient and logical pattern than the than the Roomba, which is more of a robot company, and the Roomba seems to be more efficient at picking up dirt and pet hair than the the SharkIQ, which is made by a vacuum company. Go figure... I also had an issue with pet hair blocking the passage to the waste bin, interrupting the cleaning cycle with an error until I cleaned the bin. When I restarted the cleaning cycle it was interrupted with another error, indicating the brushes needed to be cleaned. Since then, it's run several more cleaning cycles and not had the issue, but it's worth mentioning my Roomba never had those issues. It did a good job of cleaning up salt and pepper deliberiately put on a hardwood floor, but it didn't seem to fare as well on our large area rug, where it missed some thing that Roomba did not (see photo below). The Shark IQ also comes with a roll of magnetic? stip you can lay around obstacles to prevent the Shark from entering areas where it might get stuck. Seems to work pretty well, however I did find an occasion where it somehow went past it and got stuck. It's also supposed to be able to work when placed under an area rug, but that did not work well for me. Great idea to include it with the vacuum (Roomba doesn't come with anything like that) but fell a bit short in execution. Overall I feel I don't like it as well as the Roomba, which I gave a rating of 4 in its review. It wasn't significantly below the Roombs, so I'd give it a 3.5, but since there's no "half star", I'll round up. I certainly wouldn't "not" recommend that Shark, as it does what it's supposed to do, and has some worthy features, but I feel the Roomba is more polished overall despite it's cleaning route driving me crazy (I have to run it when I'm not there).

Home Mapping AI With Row By Row Vacuuming – WOW!

Had an older robot vacuum that did a decent job of cleaning, but took over two days to clean my Living, Dining Rooms, Kitchen, and Hallway. Besides it would stop after several hours because the small Dust Bin would fill up fast, and, required emptying. So, when I had the opportunity to review this Shark IQ Robot™ Vacuum R100 with Wi-Fi & Home Mapping in exchange for the product I was excited to see what Home Mapping with Row By Row AI could do. My first impression out of the box was this Shark IQ is well built. It has two generously sized, and tensioned, drive wheels to power it over all kinds of carpeting. throw rugs, door mats, and floor transition strips. It has a front caster wheel, which can rotate 360 degrees allowing it turn completely around along with responsive, directional mobility. The dual-spinning, front-side brushes rotate 360 degrees constantly for outstanding edge and corner cleaning. It has protective bumpers at the front sides of the unit, which gently move inwards as shock absorbers, when they make contact with my furniture. WooHoo! The self-cleaning brush roll is heavy duty, and accommodates all types of flooring, and especially made for picking up and vacuuming pet hair. The self-cleaning brush roll is ingenious. Top side of this baby features convenient, on-board controls. I can manually press for 'Clean', 'Dock', and enable the Home Mapping Navigation Module and IQ Sensors. This little Sharkie weighs approximately 5.7 pounds, with a cleaning path of approximately 5.6 inches. Why do I love my little Sharkie: * It travels fairly fast, compared to my last robot, and, has superior vacuuming suction. Great job of picking up pet hair, dander, and Grand Kids debris from outside play. YooHoo! * Setting-Up Sharkie. Sharkie is on the 2.4 GHz radio frequency. The advantage of the 2.4GHz radio frequency is that it enables a longer range of use. Ideal for Sharkie traveling throughout your house. As long as your router has the 2.4GHz frequency program your cell to 2.4GHz in the settings menu on your cell phone. This will enable Sharkie to connect to your home's Wi-Fi network through your phone. Once Sharkie is connected you can always reset your cell back to the 5 GHz frequency. It is easy to do and the Sharkie App will prompt you during set-up. * Indicator Lights on Sharkie. There are three Indicator lights; one illuminates when connected to Wi-Fi, The Error Light, which is Red; and another the Battery Charge Indicator Light. Full Charge is solid blue; Partial is half of the Battery Icon in Blue; and Red when Low Charge is indicated on the Battery Icon. * Home Mapping with Row By Row (AI) for efficiency and better cleaning. I have thick carpeting and can now tell where Sharkie was. His large, tensioned, drive wheels leave a little path. It is so cool. Before my last Vac-Bot just meandered wherever, and often going over the same paths numerous times. Sharkie saves time, and requires less docking for re-charges as he does cleaning Row by Row. I can get my four main living areas clean in less then one day. The best feature of Home Mapping is that I can choose which rooms to clean as Sharkie maps each one, individually. Another great feature about Sharkie is that he knows where he stopped for recharging and goes right back to where he stopped to continue vacuuming. However It took Sharkie approximately two weeks to learn the mapping of my home, accurately. Do NOT relocate Sharkie during this process because he will start all over again from the new dock location. I can easily go into the Shark App on my Cell and initiate any, or, selective, individual room cleaning at any time from anywhere. How cool is that? * Sharkie is quiet and does not scare Cassie (Golden Retriever). Cassie was curious the first week, but, now acts as if Sharkie is part of our family. * Additionally, Sharkie can accept voice commands with either Amazon Alexa or Google. * Shark App – The most important feature is that you can instruct Sharkie from your cell phone anywhere you have a cell signal to start general cleaning, or just clean a specific room. He furnishes maps, and history of the square footage he has cleaned and the various run and cleaning times. I can set the date and time I want Sharkie to start and change the set cleaning times at any time. Sharkie App also has references to the User Manual, Quick Start, and Set-Up Tips & Tricks. * The XL Dust Bin holds .2 Gal, or 46.2 cubic inches, generous size, for a robot vacuum. Except for the days my Grand Kids visit. Sharkie only needs emptying every second day. I operate Sharkie every other day in the week. I shakeout my filter every time I empty the Dust Bin. * One Year Warranty. TIPs – When setting-up the Wi-Fi for Sharkie. Place the Docking Charger as close as possible to the center of the area of cleaning activities, and, as close to your router as possible. Do not place your boundary strips in the same room with the docking charger. Have extra filters on hand. They can get dirty quickly depending on what is being vacuumed. The filter is replaceable, but, NOT washable. After three weeks of continuous use I highly recommend the purchase of the Shark IQ Robot Vacuum. The Artificial Intelligence built-in to the mapping of your home's rooms for cleaning is outstanding. The Row by Row vacuuming is so efficient and productive. A lot of tech packed into this baby for its price point. Did I mention the powerful suction? Cleaning up pet hair is a challenge. However this Sharkie is designed to do just that. It would make a great gift for those newlyweds, special family member or friend. Buy one for yourself you won't be disappointed.

Robot Vacuum at a Great Price

This is the review of the Shark Robot Vacuum RV1001 (without Self Empty Base). Now I have some experience with Robot Vacuums as I have a Bobsweep approx. 2 years old. So that being said my review will be based on a shared experience with a similar device. 2 years old. So that being said my review will be based on a shared experience with a similar device. The Set up for the Shark IQ is a bit longer than the Bobseep, as this device is run by your phone app from Shark. The Shark app is very easy to use and easy to set-up, however, I had to relocate the base unit and vacuum closer to my Wi-Fi router has I had a problem with the handshake when connecting it thru the app. Not sure anyone else had had this issue not many reviews to look at to this point. But if you are having issues just move the unit closer to your router. After setup, the shark is ready to go. This vacuum can also be connected to Alexa or google assistant for ease of use. The app is really easy to navigate and makes for a quick transition from newbie to novice in no time. The Shark is much better at cleaning in a straight line. The BobSweep uses a computer-generated program that is supposed to learn the layout. It is also quicker and cleans the same area much faster. The Shark appeared to have an issue finding the base at first but eventually did find it and start charging itself. I have wood laminate, carpet along with limestone tile in my home and the Shark is very nimble. The wheelbase appears to have some sort of absorption mechanism that raises or lowers when needed for different types of floors. It really is an impressive product. The price at the time of testing the Sharg IQ RV1001 (without the Self Empty Base) was $399.99. Now when these products first came out they were between $700 - $1,000+ so having an upgraded unit at this price point is great. I would recommend this to anyone that likes new tech cleaning at a reasonable price.

It seems like if you have an easy to clean square room with very little furniture it does a great job but if it gets even the slightest bit complicated “like a normal room” it has no idea what to do. It almost never makes it back to base without help from you. I have to follow it around or listen for it since it gives an error message almost every time it cleans which makes it easier to just vacuum the room yourself. If you have different colored floor or rugs it might set off the cliff sensors which shuts it off and waits for you to reset it since it won’t reset through the app. It’s very aggressive when trying to clean and I mean that by slamming into walls furniture anything it runs in two and sometimes it keeps trying to go over it leading to it shutting off. After a little over a month of use it is scratched all over the front and I have noticed scratches on some furniture. The power switch is also located in a bad spot due to it being the same height as my door stoppers which allow it to sometimes turn itself off while it’s cleaning. It does do a good job cleaning what it goes over and getting into corners. It took over a month of using the robot 2-3 times a week before it finally finished its so called that is incorrect. I mainly use the clean entire house since the mapping feature is so inaccurate but that leads to some rooms not being cleaned. It normally runs for an 1hr+ then charges for 3-4 hours. It will usually run the battery to 50% on the first run and then try to find the base most of the time it will not find the base and will die. On the second attempt it will run the battery Down to 30% and then attempt to find the base and sometimes will die. During both of those attempts it’s still has not cleaned the entire house. It will skip rooms or keep cleaning the same room for the entire time like if its lost. Since it is so loud it makes it easy to find it when it gets lost as long as it didn’t die. Eco mode and normal are a little load but max sounds like its going to break. Recommend waiting for future updates and purchase the warranty.

Xfinity users may have issues with App

I could not connect the Shark Clean app to the robot, the app only can connect to a 2.4 GHZ signal. My router is a combination of 2.4 and 5 GHZ and it assigns which one the device uses automatically , the app needs a SSID that is only 2.4. I called Shark customer service (1-888-228-5531) they stated that I might try calling Xfinity so the 2.4 network could have priority, after a chat session with Xfinity mentioned that their router is not design to have separate SSID’s (one 2.4 SSID and one 5 GHZ SSID) and was not recommended. Since I can’t connect the app and use all of the features don't really have much use for it, I did still ran the vacuum by hitting the clean button and it works pretty well but only did one room, It has doorway strips to block locations and seems to get itself out of tight corners but still managed to get stuck in-between my TV and sub woofer. I think the app needs to be updated to include Xfinity routers.

Packaging: very nice and clean packaging and surprisingly it came with extra spinning brushes and extra filters set. You will need to install filter and two side spinning brushes which are clip on - so extremely easy. Setup Setup was very easy, all you need to do is download the SharkClean app, connect you bot to your network and name him. All of that took about 3-4 minutes without any issues at all. Performance Very good results, especially on the carpet (see attached image). I have never seen vacuum with better result when it comes to carpet vacuuming. Trash bin is filled with dust after just one run on my top floor and because of that I would highly recommend it to people with allergies or pets. It does even better job on the laminate flooring but I decided to keep him up on the floor with carpets because of the mentioned results. Vacuum is very quiet comparing how usually loud bot vacuums are and it has nice startup sound. Also when cleaning he really does follow up his own path and makes pretty firm run lines and you can tell that he does clean everything without missing any spots. Battery life is good but if vacuuming big house he will return for charge and resume it's cleaning work once its fully charged. Only thing I am not completely happy is fact that it takes him very long to learn floor/house layout. Once its learn a layout you can choose which room or area it needs to clean it, which is the part of his intelligent learning. It also has sensors which prevents him from going down the stairs or bumping into objects. Pros: Very good cleaning results Self cleaning brush roll Not too loud Learning your home Good battery life Charge and resume it's work Extra filters and brushes Cons; Not realy a con but it takes him days to learn floor layout

I really like that the debris container is much better than the Roomba. I also love that it doesn’t have a random pattern across the floor. It will love line after line. So you dads that like patterns... boom. I do feel the suction it a little less suck than the Roomba and that it’s kind of an oaf. It will just go over things the bumper should have said to just go around. The sensors for it to not go in an area is also not well designed as it’s a magnetic strip that is supposed to go “under flooring”

This is soooo helpful, I turn it on before we go to bed. We swiffer the house frequently because we have a dog, and I always think I get most of the hair... until I turn this on! It runs and when I open it to empty after it runs there is tons of hair!!!! Where does it come from? Who knows but I’m in love with this and it’s so helpful for my everyday life! The first one I got, one of the arms stop working after 4 cleaning sessions so I took it back to Best Buy & got it exchanged to a new one! So far the new one is working good! Love how well of a great job it does cleaning hardwood floors, but not so great on carpet(it doesn’t pick up trash well, like a regular carpet cleaner even on high efficient mode-there are 3 cleaning modes)! Good thing my flooring is mostly hardwood floor! Recommend it for hardwood floor, but not carpet! Like everyone said, it’s loud but I expected that since I read the reviews: doesn’t bother me...love the feature that it senses stairs & don’t go tumbling (was worried about that). It cleans up to an hour fully charged & docks itself when low on battery! So far, it helps me clean less so it is serving its purpose so I’m happy with my purchase!

I researched robot vacuum cleaners for months before making the decision to ask my husband to purchase the Shark Robot IQ as my Christmas gift. I have other Shark products in my home and they've always been satisfied with how well they've performed. Although the Shark Robot IQ does have a strange navigation pattern, it does a fine job of finding the dirt and cleaning the first floor of my home. The only minor negative is the vacuum is somewhat loud when it's running. Overall, I am rather pleased with this purchase.

At first, I had my mind set on the roomba. That's simply because of all the advertising that they do. I all had known about robot vacuums was that the roomba was the way to go. After looking online at other competitor's products, I started realizing that roomba might be a little overpriced. I found the Shark IQ Robot R101 to be better than the roomba that was being sold for about the same price. What really got me to jump on the shark was the sale price it went down to during the month of november. I bought the shark for $299! With that price, it definitely beat out it's competitors. After using the shark continuously for about a month now, it does an awesome job! I have tile floors all over my house with two rugs in the way. (one rug in the living room and one rug in the master room) The shark does a great job cleaning up the entire house! The main points I really like about the shark are the following: 1. Controlled with my phone - I can make it clean the house even though I'm not home. - I can look at it's history to see when was the last day it cleaned, how much it cleaned and how long it cleaned for. - The app tells me if there was an error while the shark was cleaning, meaning it might've gotten stuck with something that I might have forgotten to get out of the way. (just this morning, I hadn't realized I left a walmart plastic bag on the floor which ended up getting stuck on one the wheels of shark.) 2. Self charge - Whenever the shark is low on battery while cleaning, it will automatically go back to its charging station to recharge and once its charged it will continue doing its job again! I love that! 3. Pattern cleaning - the shark cleans in a pattern rather than in a random order. - every time i get home from work, I look at the living room rug, and i can tell that it is clean because the shark left a pattern going from left to right. I wish I had pictures to show on here, but I'm currently doing this review at work so I don't have any pictures to show. another thing i did notice was that the shark bumps into things whenever it's dark, I turned on the lights and it was able to sense walls, sofas, doors a lot better and went around them easily. 4. cleaning the shark is as simple as cleaning your dryer machine. super simple. I highly recommend this product.

I love the idea of a self cleaning vacuum, but sometimes it gets confused and just goes over the same area numerous times. I have to pick it up & put it back on the charger because it can't find it's way home. But all in all, it does a great job of sweeping up our dogs hair and my long hair. It doesn't warp around any roller brush and does a good job of cleaning.

So this is my first ever robot vacuum. I was always a bit hesitant in getting one simply due to the cleaning power compared to a larger, more traditional vacuum. I don’t have any pets so my cleaning needs are just general housekeeping for the most part. That said, the cool factor in having an automated vacuum is quite appealing for the lazy procrastinator in all of us. What doesn’t happen initially when you power this thing on is the smooth, parallel cleaning that’s pictured in commercials or ads. This little vacuum us quite the spaz in that it’ll glide around, often in circles, and bumping into pretty much everything. As such, using a normal vacuum might take 15 minutes to clean my condo. But this thing takes over an hour each time; sometimes more. That’s not a huge surprise for me in that the vacuum needs to get used to your surroundings so it’s just mapping out your floorplan in the hope that it’ll vacuum a little more smoothly and easily. My condo is a tad under 1000 sq. ft so it’s not too terribly big. The Shark will wander around aimlessly for over an hour just cleaning and trying to get accustomed to my place. With the companion app, you can see if/when your Shark has mapped your floorplan and you can decide if it’s accurate or delete it if it’s not. Mine is about 16% complete so I’m hoping that when it’s done, the cleaning will be like what is shown on commercials. With the companion app you can also schedule cleaning runs and, when your mapping is complete, you can tell it which rooms to clean and which ones not to. I have mine scheduled to clean every Tues/Thurs while I’m out at work. There are three modes in which you can clean, Eco, normal and max. Any of these three on wood floors is sort of loud; especially on max. On carpet, this thing is quiet. As far as cleaning goes, it’s not too bad. Again, my uses are tame compared to a larger house or a house with a pet in it. So, my cleaning is just dirt, occasional bugs or other small debris. In this respect, it cleans well. Sucks up everything it’s supposed to so no issues there. My place is 50/50 carpeted and wood flooring. On the wood flooring, picks up everything without problems. On my carpeted bedrooms, it just does some surface cleaning, but I doubt/don’t think it’s powerful enough to get the deep down dirt. Again, not a huge surprise considering the size of this. For the lazy cleaner this is a nice tool to help keep your place with minimal effort. A few cons I noticed; Obstacles – this thing doesn’t like things lying around on the floor. It has no respect for shoes or wires that may be lingering around your place. Naturally, if you’re vacuuming, you’ll move these out of the way without issue since that’s what you’re supposed to do. With a scheduled cleaning, especially if you’re not present, this can lead to issues. Twice now my Shark has stopped on me while I was out at work because something was in the way of it and it couldn’t get around it or caused an error. This thing doesn’t like shag carpet at all. Mapping – this can take a while. I’ve used the Shark about 5 times now and my mapping is still only at 16%. Not sure how long it’s supposed to take but that seems like a long time for me. The only way to speed it up is to use it however, at times, the Shark can run for over an hour and still only clean half my place. I’ve watched it try to clean under my kitchen table only to get stuck under the seats and just wiggle around. Sometimes I’ll get tired of hearing this thing scooting along and just send it back to its base. That process can take 15-20 minutes. Just kind of wished the mapping process was a little faster. And since it takes so long to map your place, it’ll operate for quite some time draining the battery. I’ve had this unit vacuum until the battery was almost dead, got back to it’s base and recharged, and then ran again for another 15-20 minutes trying to clean. Biggest pro here is that you don’t have to vacuum as much as you used to having this thing. Much nicer and easier to just send this thing vacuuming and wait until it’s done and, for the most part, you have a cleaner place. I think maybe once a month or something I’ll break out the big vacuum and do a once over on the whole place just to get everything. https://youtu.be/E3zAfWOgaks

Good product. Picks up a lot of dirt. Gets caught often under chairs and cords. Need to run often to make it remember. We call her Lucy. The app is great.

This is a good value for the money. My previous robotic vacuum did not have the ability to map my home. This one is taking a while to figure out the layout of my home, so I have been unable to tell it to clean specific areas. It does an excellent job of picking up all of the debris it encounters and the anti-hair-wrap roller works great. I'm having difficulty getting Alexa to transmit commands but it may be the fault of Alexa.

Got this Shark robot vacuum on sale for $260 down from $400...after going from the Roomba i3, to two other Shark models before finally settling on this one (yep - I returned all three), the Shark RV101 would have been worth the cost at it's original price. The only reason it gets 4/5 starts is because I question the reputability of Sharks suctioning capabilities. Especially after seeing how the Roomba i3 performed...the specs state that this Shark model outperforms other robots in cleaning power. It definitely picks up debris, but I don't know if it's actually more powerful than Roomba. With Roomba, my carpet was actually lifting up and leaving a noticable track in its path. Roomba fell short with it's AI features - mapping, and connecting. I'm really impressed at how intuitive this Shark robot is at learning my home, finding the dock, and with the row by row cleaning feature. I also like how there's different speeds for the vacuum. I can do my whole apartment (approximately 1K sq ft) on max vacuum for about 45 minutes and still have about 40% battery left. Charges pretty quick, also. The only other negative is it is louder than other robot vacuums. I got used to it after a few runs...even the cats are now too. At first it was a bit startling. Syncing with WiFi was seamless. To have it work and be user-friendly, I can look past the negatives. The app isn't bad. You can customize the map and set schedules, but it does lack some features.
