Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the BoomBox Portable Bluetooth Speaker's sound quality, battery life, and bass. Many appreciate the inclusion of a headphone jack and the speaker's ability to connect wirelessly. However, some customers note that the maximum volume could be higher and that sound quality diminishes at higher volumes. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the concerns about volume.

Good value for small bluetooth speaker

I was provided with a free copy of this item for testing and my fair and honest evaluation The Good: Pairing via bluetooth, NFC, and aux. All flawless, quick and easy. The range on the BT is around 30 ft maybe 40ft. Battery thus far is good, can charge and play at the same time. Now the speaker itself, measuring at 7(1/2)x 2(1/2)x 2(7/8), feels solid, the base has rubber ends that keep it from sliding. The sound that this produces is impressive for its small size. As travel BT speakers go the sound clarity and volume is on par with the high end side. Keep in mind this cannot be compared to a home stereo or large sound appliances. The Bad: Nothing is negative enough to warrant not purchasing this item. However a few minor gripes are the on and off sounds the speaker makes. Strikes me as unnecessary and annoying. And the AC charger makes a high pitched buzzing while charging. The noise is only noticeable in a quiet room. tldr: A good buy for travel bluetooth speaker, worth getting!

I looked at several other Bluetooth speakers, and returned one that seemed to have connection problems. This one is larger, but pretty easy to use. The battery life has been great. The sound quality is fine. If you spend a lot more money you may get better sound, but I was very impressed for the cost. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

very well built and has lots of useful features. i have not had it for too long so i'm not sure of the long term durability of the item but it is very well designed and built. i bought a few for gifts and all have loved it. if i was willing to pop for $80 plus, i would have bought the jbl, but at under $50, this item is a deal.

I sit in my backyard and listen to audio books, this speaker has a great sound, I can pause the book or rewind it if I missed something and it goes days without re-charging it. It also pairs with my iPhone so I can take calls without touching my phone. Buy one and try it for yourself, I also use it to pair with my TV .

I have enjoyed this speaker since buying it with my Ipod and phone via Bluetooth. It sounds great for a small speaker but the speaker itself has some bulk to it which makes it feel solid. An excellent purchase for the $49. I have tried other products in this price range and they sounded terrible.

This was a Christmas gift for my 22yr old daughter I was looking to spend $50 to $100 range. Had good specs and battery life but max volume was not as much as others tested. Ordered this and 2 other brands but unfortunately the TDK a34 was similarly priced on sale with much fuller sound and did not distort at high volumes the way this one did. Ended up returning.

This is the best purchase I've made so far this year. At this price point you might expect something that is made poorly and feels cheesy. This unit conveys sheer quality the moment you pick it up. It's solid and a bit heavy so you know it's well constructed. Sound: Wow, blew me out of the water. At the default volume level when you turn it on it's really loud and the sound quality is truly amazing. The bass actually packs a punch due to the sub built into the back of it. The mids and highs also sound crystal clear with no distortion at all. I'm a UPS guy and people have been complimenting the sound coming out of my truck since I got it. My truck is loud and I have a loud fan running in the summer months, but I still hear it loud and clear over all the noise (and so do the people outside as I'm driving past). Two of my customers who have asked about it have since bought their own. Battery life: Prior to this I had to buy rechargeable batteries for other devices and constantly pop them in and out for charging. With this boombox I simply plug it in when I get home and charge it overnight. At the default volume level (which rocks) this thing lasts my entire work day and I have it running for about 12 hours per day. If you crank the volume to full blast (not necessary) the charge will last about 8-10 hours. The nice thing about this unit is that you can easily connect it wirelessly via bluetooth or you can plug directly into it. I sometimes will stream Sirius satellite radio through my phone to it and at other times I will plug my ipod directly into it. Both sound incredible on the Sharkk boombox. I've tried some comparable speakers before I bought this and the other options in this price range have much smaller speakers, no sub and lower power output. I recently hosted a graduation party at my home so I brought this out to the back yard and people kept saying how great it sounded. It was really nice to be able to play DJ wirelessly on my phone from across the yard and the thing went all day from around 11AM until about 1AM that night without quitting. I had to eventually plug my phone in, but the battery never ran out on the Sharkk. I've bought multiple products from Sharkk over the years and their customer service is phenomenal. If anything isn't perfect they make it right. I highly recommend this. Note: I purchased this item and was not compensated in any way to write this review.

Does the job - for quickly hearing quality sound around the house. Would need something bigger for an outside yard function. But nice.

I've had this speaker for a month and it's absolutely the best product I have ever purchased. I don't recommend it but I've dropped it several times and it still works like its brand new. Speaker are excellent when I'm working or at the house hanging out! I'd definitely recommend this for anyone!

Surprised at the quality and value

First, a disclaimer: I received a Sharkk Bluetooth Portable Boombox Speaker in exchange for agreeing to write a review about my experience with the speaker. I have received several free or discounted items to review from Arcadia, Sharkk, and New Trent (all apparently part of the same company). I try to be very fair, and I have written more negative than positive reviews. But this Sharkk speaker receives one of my highest ratings. I originally purchased two BT speakers when there were very few manufacturers from which to choose. I purchased a Jambox for my daughter, and I purchased a Braven 650 for myself. Both retailed at the time for around $200. Bose was at the top of the list, and there were only a couple of other brands at the time. Now there are many different manufacturers producing several models each, so I was interested in trying one of these newer speakers. I was surprised that this Sharkk sounds much better than my Braven. The overall sound quality is clearer, the bass is much stronger, and you can also crank up the volume without distortion. And all of this from a speaker that costs less than a third of what I paid for each of my original speakers. The size and weight are substantial, and that might help with its sound quality. The unit weighs 1 pound 8 ounces (671 grams). The measurements are 7 ½” long, 3 7/8” high, and 2 3/8” deep (190 x 70 x 60mm). All of the edges have a nice bevel, so there are no sharp edges or corners. This speaker might be a little large and heavy to add to a carry-on bag, but it is great to have for portable sound around the home. The battery is lithium polymer rated at 4400mAh, and it is slated to last for up to 18 hours. The push-button controls, except for the on/off switch, are all clearly marked and located in one row across the top. The right side has the on/off switch, a headset/aux-out port, an aux-in port, and a micro USB charging port. The speaker comes in a stylish box with firm padding glued inside. The packaging is worthy of Apple. Included are a flat USB charging cable, a USB wall transformer (looking exactly like an Apple Ipad charger with folding blades), a 3.5 inch M to M audio cable, and a padded carry pouch. All of the accessories, except for the pouch, are white like the speaker itself. Photos of the black speaker have color-coordinated black accessories. There a few things which I would like to see improved: 1) The speaker-phone function was sub-par for me. Both ends of the conversation were muffled and distorted. 2) It would be really nice to include a pass-through charging port. This would allow you to use just one charger to charge both the speaker and your phone. Or, given the size of the battery, you would also be able to charge your phone directly from the speaker itself. 3) When the speaker is turned on, a very bright blue light flashes every two seconds. This light flashes green when your phone is plugged into the aux-in port. Perhaps the lights could be dimmed a bit and flash less often. I feel that this Sharkk speaker is a really good deal, especially for the price.

SHARKK sent me this product for us to test out and try. I have had extensive testing since i have had this product. PROS: Sound quality is great. it can work in an office setting or to fill a room (24x20) easily with great sound. Bluetooth/Aux/Phone work great and extrememly easy to set up Looks great and comes with a travel pack. looks and feels of higher quality than my Jawbone Jambox Buttons illuminate at night and make it easy to change settings CONS Connection light is always on and blinking blue/green. It would be great if you could shut it off On/Off always has a notification. it seems the sound cannot be adjusted when it turns on or off. Cannot charge and play at the same time on Aux. it creates a muffled noise. OVERALL: I would recommend this to anyone. I prefer it over my Jambox and with the price point it is easily dollar for dollar better.

Great little speaker for the price

First off, I was given this product by SHARKK for review. I have actually used a few different bluetooth speakers over the years, and the best one that I had used to date was the UE Boom speaker, but that one is really expensive. This Sharkk speaker is really nice, and has some really good features that are missing on the UE Boom, and it is quite a bit cheaper to boot. First off - the sound quality was good, not great. Though I really was expecting it to be worse, usually these little speakers are just not that good. The sound on the BoomBox speaker is pretty good, obviously a full system would have better sound, but considering you can take this one with you, there really is no room for complaining. I would say the UE Boom speaker is a little better for sound, but if I had to purchase one today, I'd probably go with the Sharkk due to the price difference. I also have used this speaker for calls, and the sound was clear, and the people on the other end said it was easy to hear me. In all cases I had the speaker about a foot or two in front of me. As for other features. The Android voice connection worked fine with my phone, and I was able to get it to respond like it was supposed to, you just have to hit the phone button the BoomBox, and away you go. You can send texts, make phone calls, or ask about businesses and get directions etc. That was pretty slick. Another feature that is interesting is that it has a headphones port and an aux port. You can plug in external speakers to the headphone port, and then have it play through them and the BoomBox at the same time. That is meant for chaining BoomBoxes together, but it works with other speakers as well. By default it shuts off the sound coming out of the BoomBox speakers when you plug in a jack to the headphone port, but you just hold down the M button and it will start playing through both. You could also use this as a really big bluetooth receiver using the headphone port, not that I plan to, but you never know, it might end up being useful at some point.

    Great portable speaker

I am a big fan of portable speakers and have had several before this Sharkk. I have to say, it is the best of them. It is inexpensive, has several features and- best of all- the sound is very good for its size. It truly brings the boom. It comes with the speaker itself, a USB chord and charger, an auxiliary chord and a carrying bag to protect the speaker itself. Connecting this speaker was incredibly easy and it connected quickly. Each time I power on the speaker, it has connected to my phone almost instantly. Love that. The sound is crisp and clear. It starts to have minimal distortion only at the very loudest setting and only with complex music. Before anyone thinks this is a negative, I am actually happy with this as several other brands distort much earlier. The bass is surprisingly punchy for the size and the mids and treble are very clear. Color me impressed. Lastly, I wanted to point out that I was provided this speaker for a fair and honest review. And while I very much like Sharkk as a company, I wouldn't hesitate to point out flaws. If you are hesitant about them because its a new company to you, don't be. As someone who has also bought several of their electronics before their customer service is very quick and genuine. They seem to actually care about their customers, not just the ratings that benefit them. So I recommend this BoomBox and Sharkk as a company overall.

Read all the glowing positive reviews for this speaker and have come to the conclusion either they don't expect very much or the ratings system on Amazon and to some extent Besy Buy are compromised. The sound was decent but wireless distance, inability to maintain a blue tooth connection within 10 feet, and very poor audio quality when using the speakerphone capability were unacceptable for me. Unit returned for refund.

The sound quality is great, I paired this with my Galaxy S4 phone and played music through it. I walked around my house and the distance the speaker can go from the phone was great. I also tried the voice control feature and I was amazed to see that I could send texts and make calls through my phone using the bluetooth speaker. This is definitely a great buy. The design itself is very clean and it is packaged very well. There is more weight to it than I expected but that's probably explained by the great quality.

I was provided with a free copy of this item for testing and my fair and honest evaluation. I really like this product. I had some little cheap speakers before. This item has the look and feel of an Apple product. It's easy to use, the controls are well labeled and clear. I use it every day now streaming at my desk. Received a few phone calls while paired with my iPhone. Quality was really good. The caller had no idea. It is best used at moderate volumes as it distorts when cranked all the way up to accommodate a large space. I think that is fine because I don't think it was made with that intent in mind. Love this speaker.

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I got this, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sound from the unit was far richer than I would've expected. The packaging and contents are all well done, clearly targeting consumers used to Apple's clean and elegant packaging. Inside the box are the unit itself, an AC charging block (that looks like an iPad charging block), flat white micro USB charging cable, auxiliary 3.5mm audio cable, and carrying pouch. The heft of the unit itself was reassuring, as was its quality fit and finish. After initially charging it for at least two hours, I turned on the unit, and there was a pleasant sound for turning the unit on and off. I'm used to pairing most devices by holding the power button, but this unit requires you to hold the Play/Pause button (I had to look in the manual for that). No big deal. A female British voice says PEH-ring ("pairing" for us Yankees) to give aural indication of what's happening. I saw SHARKK BOOMBOX in my iPhone 5S's Bluetooth settings, and quickly added the unit. (The unit also allows for NFC pairing, but I don't have a phone which supports that.) The unit also gives aural feedback for terminating a call and other operations, all with the same female British voice. I first used it as a speakerphone while I was working from home, and as long as I stayed within a few feet of it (per the manual's recommendation), I could be heard just fine. Audio was very rich--much richer than I'd expect from a unit of this size. I was able to play various genres of music without low- or high-end distortion. The white color was a perfect fit for the kitchen, so it could sit on the island, or on any countertop and blend right in. I was supplied an evaluation unit for this unbiased review, and I can say, unbiased, that I'm enjoying this boombox, and would recommend it to anyone who'd like rich sound in a design that will blend right in.

Looked good on paper. Specs lead me to believe this may be a good choice for my daughter. Good battery life, good charging options etc. when compared to a couple other options I purchased this one just did not compare. Volume was OK but quality degraded as it got louder. Also the top end volume was not as loud as others. Returned this and went with the TDK A34.
