I'm very pleased with the picture, the versatility of the controls, and the quality of the sound. . For the price, this SHARP TV is an excellent value and it serves double duty as my PC monitor.

Resurrected an Audio Video Stand, Denon AVR and some klipsch speakers from storage, setting it up in my home office wanting to dedicate the area to my vinyl collection. Thought the stand could use a mounted TV. Found this Sharp 42" on sale. After some calibration the picture really is great for the price. There are no smart features or WIFI, But I don't need any of these features for a TV in my office anyway. I picked up an Apple TV and using airplay I can stream from my Plex or Subsonic servers to watch video files or listen to my digital audio collection if needed. The only downside was the in-store customer service (Beaverton Tanasbourne location). When I walked up to the Audio / Video section at the best buy, a couple of these guys were making fun of their recent customers, talking trash about them behind their backs. They did not know I was standing there. I was kinda angry knowing that I wanted this TV and had to deal with these guys. Seriously if you hate your job find another.

I got off of work and decided to stop by best buy and other retail stores to purchase a flatscreen I so desperately needed. Of course best buy was the first store I visited to see if I could buy a smaller tv, 32'(other brand) this I got this 42' sharp at a reasonably cheap price since it was open box and only missing the remote. The supervisor gave me a brand new remote from the store to make up for that. Anyway, it was very easy to assemble and very lightweight. The picture quality is amazing and so is the sound quality. Tv is perfect size!!

I bought this TV on sale at Best Buy & couldn't be happier with the purchase. The price was way below any other sale prices for this item & still is (purchased end of Nov. 2014). Most of the reviews for this TV were 4 or 5 stars out of 5, so I knew it had to be at least adequate. I wasn't disappointed one bit. The picture quality is absolutely excellent & It has USB & is Roku ready (streaming stick), which is all you need! At 42" it is more than adequate in size for viewing at 10-15 feet distance. Sound and picture adjustment options are more than adequate, and the nice thing about the external analog audio connection is that it can be fully controlled using the TV's audio control menu & tv remote control. You don't have to adjust volume or tone (equalizer) using the external speaker's controls - you can use the TV's audio control menu with the tv remote for volume & tone (the menu includes a user mode that has a graphic equalizer). Final analysis: Excellent TV, at a very affordable price.

I came to the store fix my old TV, never leave a toddler baseball bat in a toddlers hand, near a TV, and the fix price was pretty much a new one. So, I start shopping for a 'quick' fix in the store and the sales guys offered me this one, since was pretty much the same as my old TV, but with twice the refresh-rate as the previous model I was all in, and the price was really good. Surprisingly or not, the image quality is really clear, with the refresh-rate of 120 MHz the colors are vivid, the images fluid, there are no delays when using HDMI devices, specially streaming devices like the Amazon FireTV, I do use it with this TV. So for the price for this 42" TV, with great image, good sound, you really get a great value for your money. It is a great TV, simple, easy-to-use and install, and best of all great price, with great image and good sound.

This tv just so happened to be on sale when I was tv shopping last month. It's the perfect size for my living room. The picture and sound are great especially for this price. It was displayed next to two bigger, more expensive brands on display but this one looked just as good for a lot less. We live in a time where you spend your hard earned money on products that don't work/last. I am glad that I can say I am very happy with this tv.

I purchased this sharp 42 inch TV to replace an old TV in my family room. I have my XBox hooked up to it, so I didn't really feel like I needed to be redundant and have a smart TV, so I just focused on the picture. Every time I watch it I'm just amazed at how clear this picture is. I have been playing my XBox One on it and the picture is awesome and keeps up fine with the graphics. Sound is more than adequate and don't feel the need to add surround sound. In my bedroom I have a Vizio which I was told was supposed to have the best picture. This TV blows that one away. Granted it is just a TV. When I want to use smart features I turn on my Xbox. If you feel like you need to have a smart TV in addition to your Blu-ray player or Xbox then this is not the TV for you. If you want to have an awesome picture to watch TV or play video games on and have it be 42 inches, this would be the TV I would recommend to everyone!

Got this during a super bowl sale for $300! Would have spent more. HD picture is crystal clear and sound is surprisingly loud! I love the fact that the bezel is only about a centimeter which allowed me to fit a larger screen in my fixed space. My previous TV is 10 years old and has a 4 inch bezel, so this was quite an upgrade in size for me. I will say this doesn't handle standard definition over coax very well, mainly because not only does the tv have to stretch a lower quality signal across more pixels, but because the screen is larger, the effect is amplified. If you don't have HD, or rather, plan to run a coax cable, I wouldn't get a tv over 32 inches. Once I hooked up HD, however, I was very impressed, and interestingly, the standard definition signal run through the hd cable (basically when I view a standard def channel on my hd capable cable box) looks very acceptable when compared to standard def run through coax. I have a smaller sharp brand tv that I got in 2005 and it's still kickin. Hopefully this one lasts as long. One note if you've ever owned a sharp Tv, is they've moved the smart stretch feature exclusively to their Aquos models. The closest this comes is a Cinema Mode, which does an acceptable job at stretching a picture, but still cuts off a little of the top and bottom. Overall, this was a great purchase which I would make again!

This TV is great for the price. Picture is clear and not too jittery like some high def models. Its easy to use and set up. The only point lacking is the sound is not out standing but thats to be expected. Its perfect for a bedroom tv. I would suggest a larger size for the living room.

All in all I do love the TV. Unfortunately, I had to have the "main board" replaced because one of the HDMI Ports was loose. TV works well for the price. If I had my choice I would purchase a more expensive TV for better/more even sound quality. Some channels are louder than others and I have to constantly adjust the volume depending on what I am watching. Picture is great - standard channels look almost like HD. In general I must say that for the price the TV is the best for the money and it has 3 HDMI Ports which the more expensive ones do not. I have a lot of "components" (TiVo, DVD recorder, sound system, etc.) so I do use the 3 HDMI Ports. The newer TVs and "smart TVs do NOT have 3 HDMI ports and that is NOT good in my opinion. Why pay $500 more for a TV that you can't use additional items with? The Sharp is GREAT for the money and I can use all my little "toys" with it.

Replaced Insignia 1080p 40 inch - MUCH BETTER!

First off, Insignia are phenomenal TV's for the price so don't let this review turn you away from them. However, I want extremely pure, crisp, and bright picture at the lowest cost possible. I had the Insignia counterpart TV to this (just 40 inch) and noticed less "pop" in the image than I was hoping. This is less noticeable in store but can be seen in side by side comparison. I sold the Insignia and purchased this Sharp. I have used it for around 6 months and am INCREDIBLY happy. The picture is great. Crisp, Good contrast, fast picture processing, accurate colors etc. The sound is good for the price.

This is an amazing TV for the money! I bought for 329.00 on sale, $150 off. Picture is way better than old TV. I only have 1/4" left on the side of my armoire but I made it fit. My kids broke my previous insignia 39" and it had been my first flat panel TV. We waited a year and bought this one 2 weeks ago. It's amazing quality at 1080p and 120mhz its far superior to the sonys and anything else remotely in the price range. This is a $500 tv for much lower price. Sound is decent though I'm not sure about the stand as it seems mostly plastic but seems fine anyhow. Has 3 HDMI which is awesome for me to hook up my laptop etc into there. Super good bang for your buck and the refresh rate makes it elite at this level.

I delayed until now to get a digital TV because my old analog TV still works (with a converter box). I got the new TV to play Blue-Ray DVDs with the DVD player I bought last year. The TV was easy to mount on its base and set up. I did not need to buy a wall mount. The picture is more clear than I dreamed possible. I do not pay for cable or subscription services but get 20 local TV stations clearly. This is by far the best TV reception I have had. The Blue-Rays look good too.

Sharp 42" is a really nice non smart TV. I paid $316 for this TV on Black Friday online. So that means after all the crazy Black Friday shopper went home I came out and pick the TV up with no hassle at all. I got it for my bedroom, it has a great picture on regular non HD box cable. But when you have blue ray player connected too it, the picture is amazing! It has 3 HDMI jacks and 1 USB port. So you can add other features to make it a smart TV. Great price for its size.
