    Poor Quality

This was the third exchanged TV, and it has the same problem as the previous one, but even worse: after a just few minutes of watching (the previous one last about an hour or so), then switching from one streaming source to another, it will just lost sync, that is, the picture is completely out of sync. Also, this set has a big bright spot (cloud) in the middle lower part of the TV when viewing dark scenes (the previous one has dead pixels and the first one has stuck pixels). So, it looks like this Sharp brand TV just has very low quality. Even the Best Buy sales people wouldn't recommend it. Any way, this one is returning to Best Buy. And I don't know if I'll want another Sharp TV or not, after having bad luck three times.

As Good As It Gets In This Price Range

When I inherit a fortune from some long-lost relative (or if the latest Nigerian scam letter I got actually turns out to be true), then I will buy and review a nice OLED tv, or, at the very least, a Sony 900 series. Since I am firmly ensconced in the paycheck-to-paycheck real world, I will have to settle for this entry-level 4K HDR TV. I give it 5 stars because it is an excellent performer for the price I paid on sale. It has it's flaws, especially compared to more sophisticated TVs, but ... a 55" 900 series Sony is more than three times as much; an OLED 55" is considerably more than that. This TV has an amazingly good picture; better than I expected. The contrast is very good. The blacks look black to me. It is easy to tweak settings to your liking, and I suggest experimentation. This TV will decode HDR, but does not have the brightness to do it any real justice, and neither will any TV in this price range. It certainly doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching my 4K HDR Blu-rays, and without a better TV sitting next to it for comparison, I'm not going to think about it much. I divorced myself from the wildly overpriced cable companies over a year ago. I rely on Sling for live TV, an antenna for local OTA broadcasts, and also subscribe to Prime Video. I have been using a Roku Ultra, and I am never going back. The built-in Roku was a big selling point for me with this TV. The TV was easy to set up. The Roku interface is intuitive and well laid out. The remote is elegant in it's simplicity, but if you are still using a cable box, the lack of number keys may be a detriment. The remote does not have the voice activated search or the headphone jack that you will find with the Roku Ultra streaming box, but you can easily obtain both of these features by downloading the Roku app to your phone, and use your phone as the remote. I am using this TV primarily to watch movies, and I am happy with it. As with all TVs in this price range, it has motion artifacts, but not enough to be a turn-off. I have seen it on some of the action sequences when playing 4K Blu-rays. When watching several episodes of "Hanna" on Prime, I didn't notice any. Color gradient is quite good. This TV has all the inputs and outputs you would need. I am using the line output to go to a Yamaha amplifier and a pair of loudspeakers, so I don't use the TV speakers much. I have tried them, and they don't sound bad. As to reliability, only time will tell. I bought an inexpensive TCL 32" and within a year it developed issues. I hope this one lasts a lot longer. If you are looking for a 55" TV and you don't have a bottomless ATM at your disposal, I think this TV will do quite nicely for you, especially if you have dumped cable.

Got Defective TV on Black Friday Deal

I was standing in a line from 6am to 8am on Black Friday door-buster deal @ Farmington Hills MI store, got the deal, took TV home and opened and see what, big crack on left bottom corner. Without even turning ON, right away i called best buy, packed TV and informed them that i am returning this crap. Went again to best buy and returned it. Happy day changed to full of frustration. I really wanted an exchange but they are out of stock. Only hope is that best buy told me if they get this same model in-stock , they will give me door-buster price. Also i am hoping that they should free ship to me to make it equal for my wasted efforts. Till then, my 1 star rating will stand.

I was happy with this TV until colored lines showed up on top to the middle. I turned it off for a few days and when I turned it on again, the lines are worse. Now it looks it’s cracked but it isn’t. I’m disappointed that it only lasted 15 months. We enjoyed this TV. Best Buy told me there’s nothing they can do because I didn’t take the extra protection on it. I wouldn’t think it would just fizzle out within 15 months.

The Sharp Roku TV IS BY FAR WOSRT TV I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. I have only had this TV Since August 2019, and 3 months ago the picture started to fade out and flicker in the background. Sometimes the picture is completely Black. I called Sharp TV support and they told me to get it fixed or buy another TV depending on the cost! Some help that was ??!! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!

I will not buy another Sharp TV. I purchased this TV 2, yes TWO, years ago. It still has the plastic on it. Lol; and now the screen is green. Every channel is green!!!! I expected. That's what I get for not staying with the brand that has proven to be more reliable. Lesson learned. I am very disgusted and disappointed.

    Very Please So Far

To qualify this review I will start with saying that we have only had it for a couple months. In that time I have been very pleased with both the picture quality and sound from this unit. I have it mounted on the living room wall and have had no issues with it thus far. The Roku built in smart feature is also excellent. Very easy to use, even for those in your household that are not tech savvy. On the same note, due to it's elementary setup, the remote is the main CON. The kids love it because it has quick buttons for the things they use the most, but it takes some getting used to for those of us who want a little more control.

I purchased one for a downstairs man cave and another for my daughter's guest room that we often use. Love the tv's but recommend that whatever size you choose....go even larger cause you won't regret it. The Roku is excellent as are many of the available aps. The color and sound are very good as well. The only improvement I would suggest is a better remote that doesn't have the volume control on the side where you can inadvertently hit it.

    Great Sharp 55" TV

When I saw the great deal for only three hundred a couple weeks after Black Friday, I could not resist trading in the 50" model that cost the same for this same tv in 55". So happy with the price! The Roku was new to me but set up was pretty easy and there are lots of apps available ( I loaded about 75 of them) I like that you can get local news apps from stations from around the country and favorite pro and college team apps. But then I was not too happy with the standard settings, (too bright, too dark, overbloomed, no detail in dark areas.) But after calibrating with a Blu-ray of Digital Video Essentials HD Basics, I was very impressed with the sharpness, clarity and colors of this TV. The high contrast level makes the picture look almost too good. I had to turn off the smoothing to tone down the soap opera effect. The new Roku remote with no numbers took no time to get used to. Nice 4k tv when on 4k content from Roku.

DISCLAIMER: I bought this TV to replace a 42" 720 Plasma TV Picture: The first thing I noticed is that the picture looks almost 3D. It is that good. This may be because I was used to lower resolution TV but the difference is that stark. We tried this on several channels, the DVR, DVD and several apps, all had great picture quality. Sound: The sound is very adjustable. It almost sounded echoey (if that is a word). You can adjust the sound for music, speech and a variety of settings. There were big differences between these settings and I really could not decide what I liked. I am sure I will get used to one setting and call it a day. Ports: Plenty of these and easily configured. Even though you can place custom names to the port devices, my only suggestion would be that they add a generic device which covers devices such as Apple TV, Chromecast or Firestick. Not a biggie. Settings: You can have different sound and display settings depending on the port or app you currently are connected to. This allows customization that stays with the particular device or app being used. Remote: I hear complaints about the remote but I actually liked it a lot. It is very simple and the TV operating system works very well with it. Navigating through Netflix on the TV was no different then navigating through Netflix on an iPad. Once you realize how to get around, it is pretty intuitive and quick. Logging into apps is long as to be expected due to typing but it is only a one time deal. Apps: There are a ton of them. Initial setup kind of ignores the obvious ones but it is simple to go back and load these apps into the TV. For example, I had to go back and install YouTube which I would consider a default app. After all, it is on the box cover. Overall: I rate this TV pretty well. It is my first smart 4K TV and I would recommend it to anyone. The fact that it was only $375 makes it all that much better.

I bought this 55" for my elderly parents. They've been watching a 32" and constantly pulling their chairs closer to the TV (eyesight issues). I set it up in my own home for 2 weeks so I could learn all the buttons to be sure they could handle it. It was so easy to setup an to use. I wanted to keep it for myself! Everything is right there on the front screen. No "inputs" to mess with when switching from cable to streaming to DVD player. Much easier to use. Even the audio worked easily across all devices. The only thing I wish was different was the switching of the remotes. When switching to the cable box, we had to also switch to using the cable remote for changing channels. Wish the Roku TV remote had a way to sync to the other devices. Also, the audio is not great, but I've never found a TV that had good sound. I always use a sound bar. I would highly recommend this TV. So far, my parents (in their 80's) have been happy with it. :-)
