Shin Godzilla is a great return of the giant monster we all know and love. While it can be a little boring when the movie sticks to the humans for a while, that's kinda the standard for Godzilla movies. Overall, a good reboot from Toho. Personally, it's more fitting to watch it with English subtitles rather than watching the English Dub. Not that the Dub is bad, of course. It just seems better to watch the original voices, regardless if you have to read subtitles. It's worth the watch, really.

A return to form the best Godzilla film since the orginal.

This is a pretty good take on the Godzilla concept. It's altered and more modern than the original, but it has a strong social context (knowing about it ahead of time increased my appreciation of the movie so I recommend reading about it before watching) which makes it feel like it has real depth. It falls into some overused tropes like the very young, very gorgeous, single, young woman in a high ranking position to offset the similarly big-screen handsome, single male hero. It does not, however, become a story of two people falling in love as they single-handedly save the world. There's more to it than that. The changes to Godzilla may bug some long-time fans, but there is purpose behind his design. He looks good and feels dangerous.

Shin Godzilla is not a sequel, it is a reboot of the Japanese movie series. The characters in the movie are encountering the monster for the first time in this film. The movie starts very slow and seems to be a commentary on the older generation in Japan taking a long time to get anything done. The younger generation are the people that actually make progress in the fight against Godzilla. The action does pick up towards the end but this is definitely a slower movie overall. Some of the scenes are CG and don't look so great, but not terrible either. You just notice that the CG is CG and doesn't look real enough (good CG is supposed to be so good you don't even realize it is CG). Worth a watch if you are a fan of the long running movie series.

I absolutely adore this film... I know it's not for everyone though... Was very surprised my young kids highly enjoyed this... They actually liked the political inner workings aspect that the majority of the film had, they said it made it feel much more realistic... This movie also has what I feel is the best atomic breath scene of any Godzilla movie... Also, the soundtrack is perfect for the film...

This version of Godzilla is not a continuation of the original story that Toho started back in 1954. It is a retelling of the origin of Godzilla as the perfect life form basically as a god. Also evolving with whatever situation that is happening around. The movie is a huge metaphor of the Power Plant failure that happened and that of a politics. This a enjoyable movie to those that love Godzilla

One of the best Godzilla films in a good long while.

Very different take on Godzilla, but overall an amazing movie. It is best to watch it in Japanese with subtitles. Would recommend it to anyone.

Hi-tech sci fi remix of the classic Godzilla franchise

This Godzilla movie was good It some horror in there but not to much.

Wow this was fantastic! Even when Godzilla unleashed atomic breath, music was based off him! So powerful! Great visuals! Great action! Loved it! I hope the eastern hemisphere continues with these great films! Audio and video are stunning!

This movie captures the apocalyptic nature of a monster like Godzilla like no other film in the franchise has before. The visuals in this film are inspired and the music is incredible. If you like Godzilla you’re gonna love this film.

My son loves Godzilla so he loved receiving this as a gift

I saw it during the limited U.S. theatrical run and knew that I had to get it. This is different from other Godzilla movies that Toho has produced so it is not for everyone. There is a lot of dialog and deliberation on the part of the Japanese government but I was never bored or disinterested. The original Godzilla (Gojira) was a allegory to the atomic bombings of WWII, and this one is an allegory to the recent nuclear plant meltdowns and how the bureaucracy reacted to the threat.

Nobody does a Godzilla movie like the original studio!! This new version is hands down the most badass version the screen has ever seen. Any fan should definitely see this if you haven't already.

excelent these movies are all very good the new ones i saw in theaters and some older ones i rented when i was younger i enjoyed them alot i still watch them every once in a while

This movie is perfect for the old fan that what the feel of the first Godzilla but cant find the first tape, or the new fan that wants the feel of how it all stated.

Grew up watching Godzilla with my brother in VHS. Felt good doing it again, and the movie was different but very interesting. We both enjoyed it very much.

If your a fan of the originals you will love this movie, also a great lesson on the inner workings of Japanese bureaucracy and hot Japanese ladies abound.

Since I am a big Kaiju and Godzilla fan, I knew I had to have this for my collection. The English translation is good.
