At the beginning, the game is great. However, when the player progresses during game play, it begins to slow down. Much better than Cities of Skyline! Also, a great deal of simulation compared to others.

This game is awesome! It gives kids the tools needed to build and manage their own cities, and can be high level or as granular as you want. This starts with a blank area and lets the player engineer their city with sanitation, power, water, industry, retail and residential. Each has to have a balance or the Sim-citizens get unhappy and favor for the "mayor" (player) falls. Build it right and you can get better buildings and happier citizens. This has opened my son to the possibilities of engineering and architecture, and helped him understand supply and demand. It is one of the great simulation games on the market today. 5 Stars from me!

Expansion pack to a disappointing game

So we now know that there's no good reason for the always-online requirement. Still, it's a solid expansion pack. Consider something like Cities: Skylines to slake your thirst for a city builder that won't insult you as much.

This is an expansion for the PC game SIM CITY...which has gotten a lot of bad press in the beginning but over all I find it to be a fun game. THis expansion adds new buildings into the mix to give your game some new life.

    Doesn't Add Much

This expansion adds two new ways to play the game, whether by adding futuristic towers of apartments and shopping malls, or giant corporate towers. These are specialization buildings like the casinos, or resource operations. They are expensive to build, and take a significant amount of time to start generating revenue. They also have enormous footprints in cities that have always been too small. The advantage, though, is that with the 8 levels that can be built, they house massive amounts of Sims, and can include a school, negating the need to build schools, plus commercial shopping all within the same footprint. The drawback is the Sims that need to find work outside of the towers, as well as freight supply trucks for the commercial businesses, generate massive amounts of traffic routing to and from the towers. The buildings, though, look futuristic with the neon lighting, billboards and other signage, plus put out an aura causing nearby non-EP buildings, roads and other ambient decor to add futuristic touches, like neon, as well as futuristic vehicles appearing. With enough of them, the cities take on the look of Blade Runner, which is a cool effect.

This game's alot of fun! It's a lot better since they patched it. if you can pick a copy up for 20 bucks, I say go for it. It's entertainment for just about anyone.

It could be better, but it has a lot of new items compared to the vanilla experience. Solid game all around, but I wish the maps were a tad bigger.

Love this expansion pack and all the fabulous new high tech buildings and roads. The megatowers can be fussy to deal with as "time" goes by.

I know a lot of people were disappointed in SC5, but it still had its charm. And they have been constantly patching and improving the game. The expansion adds a new level of city building. New ways to build and some more fun ways to manage your city. Its fun to have multiple city types that all feel unique and CoT adds a whole new dynamic.
