I'm considered Hygiene Freak, and when it comes to sanitization, I'm the first among others to use it as it makes my life calm. Given the state of the entire world around us and germs spreading on everyday devices, and doubtlessly, the smartphone is becoming a solid base for collecting germs. This clean station comes in handy to sanitize and neutralize germs in a clean and straightforward method. Simplehuman cleanstation is a modern stainless steel and stylish design close to the Simplehuman trash bin. It is made of excellent quality and sanitizes using UV light in 30 seconds. The instruction states that the cleanstation is compatible with iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro Max (with a slim case). The sanitation process is simple and easy and has a futuristic look. I dropped my iPhone 13 mini and Pro Max sequentially, and the station, without any effort from me, pulled the iPhone in, and after 30 seconds with a pleasant chime of completion, it pushed it back up, and that is it. The LED on top of the cleanstation is gorgeous. I loved it so much.

I once had a physician tell me that there are more germs on surfaces than there are stars in the sky. The content of that statement means more to me in the past three years than it ever has before. I can wash my hands throughout the day, but what about my phone? I touch it constantly, it gets laid on retail counters, sometimes handled by others, etc. Simplehuman’s “cleanstation” is a wonderful way to help mitigate all those extra germs and I love it!
“Cleanstation” is a sleek, modern, attractive stainless-steel device that is 4.5” w x 2” d and 7.6” h that uses high intensity UV-C LED lights to sanitize your phone by killing 99.9% of germs in 30 seconds. It is designed for most smart phones and can easily clean an iPhone 13 or even and iPhone 13 Pro Max that’s housed in a slim case.
The design is simple, and the product is made so well with high-grade brushed stainless steel. The chamber lowers the phone from the top into the chamber where the 30 high-intensity UV-C LED lights (which make up the proprietary “omni-lux” chamber) sanitizes the phone on all sides and returns it to the surface within 30 seconds. A simple ring lets you know and reminds you to retrieve your phone from the “cleanstation”. As soon as the phone is lowered into the chamber, the laser-cut foam composite door closes and prevents UV-C light leakage from entering the room and dirt and dust from entering the omni-lux chamber.
How can you be assured that this is really cleaning your phone and not just a gimmick? The best way to answer that is to describe what UV light is. UV light is one type of electromagnetic radiation. It comes naturally from the sun but can be duplicated in electric lamps. It is a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum which is the basis on which our universe operates. The electromagnetic spectrum is measured in nanometers and includes gamma rays to the longest radio waves. But unlike seeing colors which is the visible spectrum portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and ranges from 380 – 700 nanometers, electromagnetic radiation UV light cannot be observed with the naked eye.
There are three types of UV radiation – UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. Of the three, UV-C has the smallest wavelengths that measure between 180 – 280 nanometers and this is the one that is required for disinfection. Multiple studies have been done and the EPA has approved UV-C light as just one way to disinfect and inactivate the COVID-19 virus. The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine has also confirmed from the numerous test and studies that UV light does destroy the novel coronavirus and that it is effective at destroying other coronavirus that cause infections such as MERS. Many hospitals use UV light to disinfect against a host of superbugs.
What’s in the box? Since it is powered by electricity, only an adapter cord and the unit itself is in the box. The cleanstation has a 2-year warranty. This is a great product for home where I use it next to a Simplehuman Foam sensor soap dispenser, and it is also great for any office where either it could be used in a lavatory setting or located for use in a central mail, copy, workstation area. In my opinion it is the very best phone disinfecting device on the market.

It’s a bacteria and virus toaster!!

Simplehuman’s Cleanstation phone sanitizer has a design that subscribes to the “form-follows-function” rule. It looks like a fancy toaster and functions mechanically much like a toaster operates. Simply drop your phone into the amply sized slot at the top of this brightly chromed device and contaminants are cooked. Well, not quite cooked, but the effect is similar.
Our personal phones have generic clear plastic cases which were easily accommodated by the slot opening. The phone eases downwards until it disappears. A light that rings the top of the Cleanstation lets you know it’s operating. The process takes about 30 seconds, and should result in a thorough sterilization of the entire phone (or case) surface. Of course, we also regularly run an alcohol swab along our phone surfaces, because accumulated grime gives germs a place to hide. In the microscopic environments that bacteria and viruses live, grime and dirt offer hiding places. The Cleanstation isn’t a cleaning device but rather a sterilization chamber.
If my toaster analogy seems odd, it’s useful to know that the FDA suggests that consumers might sterilize surfaces in the home using UVC (ultraviolet-C) lamps, such as the type of energy emitted within the Cleanstation. This disinfecting light has been found to reduce the spread of bacteria as well as causing the inactivation of viruses. I don’t feel a need to challenge the science behind UVC light effectiveness and I expect someone in a lab somewhere will test out the effectiveness of this particular device.
For my family, we’re happy to have a helpful decontamination tool in the age of COVID. Setting it near our bathroom sink reminds us to clean our phones regularly. Wanting to clean our phones reminds us to wash our hands more frequently. It’s a win-win.
It also comes in white or slate stainless but it’s the inside where the sterilizing action occurs. Recommended.

The Cleanstation gives you a simple way to sanitize your most used and probably dirtiest device. The product feels very well made and I love the minimalist look to it. Setup and use doesn’t get much simpler, plug it in, put in your phone and 30 seconds later it pops back out like a piece of toast from a toaster! If you use a large bulky case this won’t work, using the Apple leather case on a 13 pro max was no problem though. If the claims are true about UV-C light it gives me piece of mind in the age of Covid. Though this has a premium price, Simplehuman has a well earned name for making quality products and the Cleanstation feels the same.

This Simplehuman phone sanitizer has a good easy way to have a peace of mind making sure germs are gone from your phone in 30 seconds. It’s easy to use, just plug in, wait for the light on top comes on and insert your phone until you hear a chime and automatically your phone comes up. I have this device next to my kitchen sink where I can come in to my house and have my phone sanitize while I wash my hands. I gave this device 4 stars because I have to take my clear MagSafe case off my iPhone 13 pro max to be able to get my iPhone 13 pro max sanitize. What’s the purpose of cleaning your phone if the case have to be taken off all the time?. I have the smaller clear MagSafe case I can find for my iPhone and it will fit perfectly inside the sanitizer with the case but immediately ejects the phone without sanitizing it , giving me like an error sound, not sure if it’s because the MagSafe on the back or what, there’s no much explained on the manual about cases other than making sure the cases fit inside the clean station. Other than the Case trouble, it’s a good stylish phone sanitizer.

I am loving my Simplehuman Cleanstation Phone Sanitizer so far. It's been a really nice addition to our household and germ cleaning routine when we enter the house after being out and about all day.
We have kept this device in our entryway so that we can easily clean our various phones (iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, iPhone SE) when we walk into the door. The machine is fantastic at what it does and works so smoothly. In a matter of 30 seconds I can get my smartphone cleaned and sanitized by killing 99.9% of the germs on the surface of the phone. We have utilized the occasional sanitizing wipe when we clean our items off, but at that rate I was maybe cleaning my phone off once a week. With this simplehuman Cleanstation I can easily get my phone clean without damaging my expensive phone.
At first use I was very pleased with how easy this is to operate and how efficiently it works. The slot is easy to access from above, and I placed my iPhone 13 Pro (with an Otterbox Symmetry case) into the slot and the device lowered down gently and smoothly into the machine. The laser cut foam composite doors are gentle on the phone and are great at blocking out UV-C light when in operation. It's like a magic trick, as the phone drops down and then 30 seconds later pops up like a toaster. The LED light will flash to let you know it's working/cleaning. There is also a chime at the end that I prefer to leave on, but you can also turn it off if it isn't to your liking.
This machine has given my family and I some peace of mind knowing that our phones are carrying less germs through the day since we touch them all day long and in various situations. Keeping this handy and available to kill those germs during this Covid era has been helpful to me.
I'm thoroughly impressed with the stunning look of this brushed stainless steel look as it has a nice upscale feel and style to it. The machine operates quietly and efficiently in a set it and forget it fashion. It's a good investment for our household and I'm happy to see that it works even with a thin profile case on our smartphones.

Ever since the craziness with COVID started in 2020, we have been really good about washing our hands as soon as we get home. Right away, we thought that maybe this was only going to be partially effective since our phones are the one thing we touch the most, and there was no way to clean that. About a year ago, I tried a different brand phone cleaner that was like a tray, and we did a decent job of using it, but in the end, I forgot about it. It was just too annoying flipping the lid and waiting to see if a light blinked to see if it was done. This simplehuman Cleanstation is precisely what everyone should be using.
Let’s get this out of the way; first, this is just a phone cleaner. It won’t charge your phone or play your music. It does one job, and it does it very well. Second, you really should invest in something to clean your phone if possible. You can wash your hands as many times as you want, but as soon as you grab your phone, you are getting those germs back on your hands.
We have this setup right above our kitchen sink. Our usual routine used to be to put our bags down in our mudroom area and wash hands at our kitchen sink. Now we just place the phone into the simplehuman Cleanstation, and as we are washing our hands, the Cleanstation is sanitizing our phones. It takes 30 seconds to clean it, which is the same amount of time you should be taking to wash your hands thoroughly. It really couldn’t be easier to use. Place it into the slot on the top; the phone drops down into the Cleanstation, you get a nice light that turns on to show you that it is working. After 30 seconds, the phone raises out of the Cleanstation, and you hear a chime that it’s ready to be picked up.
My family loves this thing; it is simple and effective. I think this should fit most phones unless you have a bulky case. We have some of the Pro Max iPhones with different cases on them, and they all fit in without a problem. I also use a Galaxy Fold 3, but I already knew going into it that the Fold3 wouldn’t be compatible. It is too thick when folded and way too large when folded. This is an easy recommendation for anyone using this with a compatible phone.

Phone Cleansing Made Easy!

I have always thought about how often and the high contact it gets from hands to face. However, I am the lazy person who does not clean my phone daily or even weekly. I'm the person who spots a streak on the screen and runs the face of the phone along my pants to remove it. Total transparency, and I am sure you've done it too!
Then I get the Simplehuman Clean Station and I have my SOLUTION! Literally, in 30 seconds like a futuristic toaster for phones I sit it in the top slot between the rubber slots, it detects my phone, descends into the device (which is so quiet I felt like it wasn't working), releases a tone to notify the 30 seconds are done, and it pops up to denote the cleaning is done.
I have this neatly placed at my key drop in my house where I can quickly sanitize my phone and collect my keys/belongings.
Aesthetically it is neat and the brushed metal case makes it easy to nestle away in any corner of your house. All of my appliances are similar so it blends in well in my home. It isn't large either so it won't be clunky or heavy to move around.
I have easily incorporated it into my morning routine before work, and after work when I am home. As a side note I'm glad this wasn't marketed as a phone charger and is only designed for phone cleaning. I have encountered that sometimes devices with multiple charging ports cancels out the primary reason for a device. I wish showering was this easy (insert chuckle)!

Consider me skeptical

This is a really neat concept for sanitizing your phone. Just drop your phone in and it acts like a little toaster. But, the term “clean” feels a bit too broad. A clean phone would mean that other contaminants would also be removed, like the grease and grime that builds up. But, I didn’t expect that from this device, it just seems odd to say “clean your phone while you wash your hands” as I would expect dirt to be removed from cleaning my hands and it won’t be from my phone from this Cleanstation phone sanitizer.
The main thing that makes me skeptical is the lack of technical specifications or scientific proof anywhere. They just throw the term UV-C all over the place and it just feels like a gimmick to market the current situation. It isn’t cheap to get equipment to test the actual light output, so I don’t have anything of that nature. Let alone a lab to compare bacteria before and after. However, there have been a lot of LED “UV-C” devices out there recently that have been near UV-C, barely 280 nanometers which is the edge of UV-B. Not powerful enough to truly kill 99.9% of bacteria, especially in 30 seconds. Now, there are some studies out there that show that some LED UV-C can kill bacteria at a distance of 3cm in 30 seconds. If that is what this device is using, then why wouldn’t that be a highlight on their own site to help try and alleviate any disbelief. I’ve also seen reports that UV-C LEDs that are powerful enough usually cost about $15 per LED, they say there are 30 of them in this device. So, that would explain a high price, but cheaper than getting the individual LEDs on your own.
I’m not trying to downplay their claims, but I would feel more trusting if there were more technical specifications and even some scientific representation on their own site. If I didn’t think I would end up destroying the device, I would attempt the banana test with it, but that takes several minutes of exposure, as I tried with 30 seconds and no difference.
Overall, if its claims are true, that is an added peace of mind and easy to use. But, personally I would rather use a sanitizing alcohol wipe to get the fingerprints and bacteria removed.

This is a sleek unit to sanitize your phone. It only takes 30 seconds for the phone to go in, get sanitized and pop out.
I can't tell how well it cleans as I have no way to check for germs after it comes out. I have to trust that it is doing it's job!
Be sure to check measurements when buying. My Samsung S10e fits fine with it's case. My daughter has the S10 with an Otterbox and it doesn't fit.
The design is thin so I can keep it in the corner of a counter for the family to use.
It would be nice to be able to sanitize other things like keys and often touched items but if you want a way to clean your phone (which we take everywhere), this is a great product.

Great phone sanitizer. I like the material, its a brushed aluminum. Setup was easy, it just comes with a power brick. I was gladly surprised that its motorized. I thought you just dumped the phone inside, however you place it in (a 1/4 of the phone fits initially) and then it lowers the phone automatically. If your phone is placed in, but you are using an incompatible/too thick phone case, it will reject it right away. You must try place it several ways, it may take it, if not, it's the case. I know its made for iPhone 13 and 13 pros with slim cases, but I have tried other big phones (like my Samsung galaxy Note 5 ultra) and it fits fine and cleans it without a case just fine, however, YMMV, since other brands other than iPhone 13's and pros are not advertised. In all, great phone sanitizer (does it with UV light), its every gentle and only takes 30 seconds. In these days of dirty surfaces, viruses etc all around us, great way to keep your phones sanitized!

One more barrier to germs!

My wife works in healthcare, so we are all about killing germs. Cell phones are nasty devices and pick up more filth and germs than our hands. We handle them, lay them on surfaces without even thinking, and breathe all over them. So no matter how much we wash our hands, that is all for naught as soon as we pick up our phones.
Enter Simple Human. We plug ours in on the kitchen counter opposite the sink and away from appliances. The new routine is come through the door, drop phone in the magic box, wash hands. The phone pops up, toaster style, right about when hands are being dried. So any germs from outside the home are dead and washed from hands and phones.
The box is sleek and the light ring stays on as it cleans. All our iPhones and Galaxies with cases fit and slide right down when place in the slot. It’s unobtrusive on the counter, but it does make me more mindful of where I lay my phone and how often I wash my hands and sanitize. It doesn’t hurt to do it more often. Any little thing to add another barrier to germs making their way through is a plus.
Kids can use it easily, not fragile, easy to plug and play. Will pick up a couple for parents and in-laws. Highly recommend.

This simplehuman cleanstation is a great addition to your cleaning routine. I work in a hospital and I got this for my coworkers and me to use before leaving after our shifts. After plugging the device into an outlet, it's as simple as dropping your phone in and waiting for it to pop up! It only takes 30 seconds to clean. We call it the "toaster" because that's essentially what it resembles. Most people's phones fit in, accept for anyone who has a popsocket or other case or device on that back. It ends up being too thick to fit in the cleanstation. We have sanitizing wipes at work to clean our phones, but they make your phone wet and leaves streaking marks. The cleanstation cleans it with UV light and it stays dry.

A sanitizer toaster for your phone!

My household has found this sanitizer to be incredibly amusing and cool. The automatic function in which it pulls your phone into the device and then pushes it back up after the 30 second sanitization feature can’t help but remind us of putting some poptarts in a toaster and watching them pop out when done!
My wife and I are both nurses, and as such our coming home routines always involve sanitizing our shoes, phones, and other high traffic personal items that come into use at work. This sanitizer is just one more layer of peace of mind when it comes to getting home from work. The description of how it sanitizes with UV light stands up to scrutiny, but we still choose to wipe our phones down with bleach wipes (carefully of course) in addition to the use of this device.
The build quality itself of this stainless-steel version is greater. I really like the recessed power cord plug insert that makes tucking away the wires behind it much nicer, and there is plenty of length to let you place this device where you want. The anti-skid feet on the bottom keep the device planted on the counter and the tones of the device can be turned off via a button on the bottom.
Altogether, if you are a germaphobe and looking for a device to sanitize your phone with UV light, this is a great option-especially if you think it is as amusing to use as we do!

Super easy to use. Plug and ready to start cleaning your phone! I have never own a product from simplehuman but I am now a fan of their products as it well designed and the quality of the product is great. This item makes it super easy to keep my phone free of germs. As recommended, I placed the sanitizer by our sink in the kitchen and so every time I am going to start cooking or eat, I am visually reminded to clean my phone. It takes about 30 seconds for the sanitizer to do its thing. While it is true that you can't visually see the bacteria, I take conforms in knowing my phone is cleaner by the UV-C light. The metal feel and look combines with my kitchen applicants and this is my favorite part because it doesn't really stand out in the kitchen, it's there as if it is just another kitchen appliance. Thank you simple human!

This phone sanitizer has a very sleek and clean looking design. It lowers your phone into the sanitizer, cleans it (99% allegedly) and then pops it back up like a smooth little toaster. I have an iphone 12 pro max with what I would consider a relatively slim otterbox case and this device will not accept it. I have to remove the case in order to clean the phone, which in turn is going to make me use it alot less. This would have probably been better if it were a little deeper and a tad bit wider with all the newer and larger phones coming out. For what it is, it's cool and useful but I would try it first with your favorite case.

Since your phone is one of the most used and handled things during the day, this Cleanstation is great to have. It really can't be easier to sanitize your phone. Plug in your Cleanstation and it's ready to go. Put your phone in the top and it's automatically lowered in. How cool is that!? It sanitizes your phone for 30 seconds then pops back up when ready. It looks well designed and has a very small footprint. I only wish it was a tiny bit taller to fit with my case on.

Well - it may be a little overboard, but I've acquired a UV light, germ killin' apparatus for feeling safer with my cell phones. I've read the average person touches their phone 2500 times a day. That's alot of fingerprints, and even more germs.
Enter the simplehuman Cleanstation. It works like a toaster for your phone - without the heat. It uses UV-C light to kill germs - including coronaviruses in as little as 20 seconds. The Cleanstation retracts your phone into the killin' light chamber and submerses it in a light bath for 30 seconds, then slowly raises your phone up for you to take - playing a chime to let you know that it is done.
So - does it work? Many recent studies do indeed indicate that UV-C light kills germs, viruses, etc. Hospitals, airlines, hotels and more use UV-C light to disinfect surfaces.
Note - it does not clean your fingerprints or other surface dirt off your phone. That's your job. It just shines that UV-C light on it and kills the bad stuff. My family likes it!

Received this product as part of the Bestbuy Tech Insider Network. Overall it's a useful and neat device. It's cool that you can place your phone in the slot and it'll auto feed it into the cleaning bay, do its thing for about 20 sec and then give it back to you.
Note: Used Google Pixel 6 for testing, had to remove a relatively thin case for it to feed into cleaning bay due to the phone's camera bar. Also if you wish to sanitize your phone case, it won't work as it doesn't weigh enough for the "elevator".
Cons:
- Extremely over-priced; $200 for a UV-C cleaner
- AC charger; give it USB-C!

simplehuman clean station lives up to its name. Just plug the cord into the side at the bottom (it only fits one way due to unique shape) and then plug the big two prong power cube into an electric outlet. LED ring will light up. Insert your phone into the slot in the top (like a toaster), it will automatically lower inside and the 30 UV-C LEDs will kill 99.9 percent of the germs on the entire phone surface in 30 seconds. Your phone will rise up when done and the chime will ring. You can turn off the chime on the bottom of the device but why would you? The slot is about 3.5 inches wide by .75 so some larger phones may not fit. Thick cases like Otterbox need to be removed and also pop rings on the back of some phones. I took it to my office and tested it with coworkers iPhone 8, 11, 12 PRO MAX and a Samsung Galaxy S10 in addition to my iPhone XS. Attractive brushed steel device is about 7.5 inches tall, 2 inches thick and 4.5 inches wide so fits easily on a desk or countertop but unfortunately it has one of those giant power cubes that block the second electrical outlet when plugged in. That's really all there is to say. Minimal setup instructions in a 4 page booklet so it was simple for this human.
