Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the easy setup, camera quality, phone app, and wireless features of the 2 Camera Outdoor Wireless Security System with 5 Sensors. They appreciate how simple it is to install and manage the system, and they are impressed with the clear camera quality. Customers also find the phone app to be user-friendly and convenient. The wireless feature is also a hit, as it eliminates the need for Ethernet cables or outlets at each camera. However, customers are negative about the subscription requirement and battery life. They dislike that the cameras do not record without the company's monthly monitoring service, and they find the battery life to be too short.

DO NOT buy from Best Buy, go direct to SimpliSafe

Direct from SimpliSafe has a 60 day return policy. Best Buy has an unreasonable 14 day return policy. I purchased on March 9th using my Best Buy CC, and tried to return on April 3rd and was turned away. Many of the pieces were still sealed and unopened. I won't go through my whole crappy story. Basically I purchased ~$700 worth of SimpliSafe products from Best Buy. The doorbell is not compatible with my home wiring. I want a single home security system. If the doorbell isn't compatible, then I'll give another system a try. My BAD. I was totally unaware of the ridiculous 14 DAY RETURN POLICY. Best Buy is not a small business, but I try to support local. I learned a hard lesson so please learn from my mistake. I think the system is good, just wasn't for me. Buy DIRECT from SimpliSafe with a reasonable 60 day return.

The SimpliSafe 9 piece outdoor security kit includes a complete set of devices to set up your own home system. The design is much simpler than most systems, therefore it is very easy for a homeowner to follow the steps in the SimpliSafe App to complete the setup. I have a small 1600 sq. ft. home, so I did not need to get any added devices. However, if you do need additional items, you can buy them separately. SimpliSafe provides 24/7 monitoring services at a very reasonable monthly charge and they have sophisticated customer support that I did check out providing very complete security coverage and easy contact procedures. You will get all the items you would need for a home with two entrances and two windows. The four entry sensors can be used on a door or window or even a cabinet. You also get two wireless outdoor cameras. There is one Motion Detector, one Keypad and the Base Unit. One thing to do once you check that you have all the items in the box, is to charge the Outdoor Camera batteries which may take a few hours the first time. The batteries have charge-level lights so you will know when they are fully charged. The keypad comes with fresh AA batteries and the Entry Sensors also have fresh batteries. The Base Unit is plugged in to a normal outlet via the included power supply. The Motion Sensor also has its own battery pre-installed. I’m familiar with several types of security systems and devices and how they are setup. Over the years it has become simpler as the underlying software sorts out the more complicated setup steps for you. This system by SimpliSafe is one of the newest and the designers deserve a tip of the cap for how easy they made it to set up and use the system. This includes how to connect each item in the system and also how to do the simple physical installation. The interface to use the system is also made very easy to understand in terms of how to arm/disarm the system. I found doing the installation required no experience other than knowing how to install an app on your cell phone. You are guided to power up the Base Unit and get it connected to your home WiFi router. The system can update itself and it will do this if needed after your WiFi is connected. Note it may tell you to wait for the update to complete using a color ring light code and also via voice – nice. You can add all your sensors or only some and add the others later. Each device is installed within a few seconds of your request to connect them – fantastic. There is a unique, simple and clever method to attach the outdoor cameras. First you will install the battery for each Outdoor Camera. Once they are connected via WiFi to the Base Unit which is very easy to do using the app, you will be ready to mount them outside or inside the house. The mounting process is very well designed. A small flat base plate is attached by two screws to the mounting surface area you choose. Then a simple twist connects a rounded connector to this plate. The camera has a socket that is magnetic and you simply put the camera’s magnetic socket over the rounded surface and you are done. You can now easily rotate the camera using this clever ball/socket connection to the angle you need. When necessary to recharge the batteries, it is easy to remove the camera since there is no screw to turn. The magnet is very powerful. I have found that using a battery powered camera eliminates an often tough-job of running power to the outdoor cameras. So, my choice is these totally wireless cameras which stay charged for up to 6 months. If you install your camera in a one-time hard to reach location, you can use the included cables to connect the camera to power and eliminate the need to recharge the batteries. However, you would have to run AC power to the location where you install the camera. I find this system with available SimpliSafe Monitoring as the most affordable and easiest system to install/use for your home. I would highly recommend this SimpliSafe security system.

Ive been a simplisafe user for a while now because I haven’t found another system that can do everything they do with the ease of use and thats whats really important to me. No ridiculous wiring to get done, up to date products and apps for your smartphone and web browser along with excellent customer support. So this kit comes with 2 outdoor cameras, a base station thats like your own personal assistant (it talks), motion sensor for human detection, keypad and 3 window sensors and a key fob to arm or disarm your system. Once you get your feet wet into the simplisafe security system you realize quickly that you can add even more cameras, additional accessories and many available items which make it the perfect system to expand upon at a later date if needed. I find that the 2 cameras in the kit provide a great 1080p HD picture and the phone app connects fast to let you see what the alert is letting you know is going on within its view. There is of course night vision on these and its all extremely easy to install (2 screws included for the camera base and the camera itself sticks with extremely strong magnets which is great for when you need to charge your cameras in the case you do not purchase the optional solar power kit for them. Regardless no wires is no problem and this all works in the best possible way without the pains involved in other systems. If you’re on the fence on one of these security systems I highly suggest going simplisafe for the easiest setup and protection money can buy.

I was looking around for a DIY home security system and was investigating this system for a bit due to the high prices of ADT. I cancelled ADT and ended up going with this system due to ease of set up and ease of use. Its a snap to install, and its wireless sensors and easy to set up outdoor cameras make this a great system to use. It syncs easily with an app and is easy to monitor your home on your phone when away from the home. The cameras are clear and provide clear line of sight around the property and alerts show any intruders trying to access the home and better, it works like ADT but is less pricy than the outrageous fees that ADT charges. The one thing I liked was setting up the sensors on my windows and doors and sync them with the home base and keypad very easily and this looked like it would be a pain but it was easy. The keypad can be installed anywhere and I put it by my front door so I could easily turn it on and off when I walk in and out of the door. This is a great system to use and set up to get away from the high fees charged by other security services.

I recently was afforded the chance to try out the new SimpliSafe 9pc Outdoor Security Kit, and the results are I am a fan and honestly kind of not a fan. The system delivers as promised with great innovation, easy installation, and simple monitoring. However, the pay per use aspect is a turn off when there are other out of the box competitors that do not require that to utilize all the features. Out of the box, each piece feels well designed and well built. Each piece is state of the art in appearance and offers noticeable flare. The system comes with a one year manufacturer's limited warranty, with extensions available. My first setup was easy, and installation was quick and painless, with no drilling required. The setup only comes with four entry sensors, which is not nearly enough, and I will be purchasing more. I will note this is my third SimpliSafe system, and the sad part is that I am fairly sure that my existing window sensors are not compatible with the newer base stations. SimpliSafe integrated innovative technology and real time monitoring to make sure that the user has complete coverage. The camera operates in 720 and 1080p high definition resolutions, along with a form of night vision and 2-way audio. The tangible results are decent, but the delays are a bit silly at times. The system is Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa enables it to provide additional user convenience. I updated my yard sign and window decals as well. My biggest gripe with the unit is that I view SimpliSafe as a leader in the home security industry. However, this system at this price point is already on the verge of being antiquated compared to rivals in the market space. The system has bugs that it took calling SimpliSafe to work out, which they absolutely did help me fix. The app is less stellar again compared to the field. Overall impressions are that I am a user and fan of SimpliSafe, so I will continue with this one because I trust their products, quality, and reliability.

BEWARE, you can't go to checkout unless you buy the Geek Squad warranty. Due to not being able to "checkout", I contacted CHAT. They ordered it for me. Since CHAT did the ordering, a free item valued @ $119.99 is offered but you do not receive it. I spent 3 hrs. on phone trying to get it but was given the run around.

    Great Expandability Some Camera Issues

The SimpliSafe 9 piece outdoor system consists of the base station, keypad, two outdoor cameras, four door/window open/ closed sensors, and a motion. They're nice looking with a premium finish with white as the primary color on everything except the camera. Also, everything is wireless running on batteries with the exception of the base station. Installation is pretty straightforward and does not depend on an app to get the basic system up and running, yay! After plugging in the base station, you'd want to install the keypad near your primary entry door. The keypad takes 4 AA batteries should you need to change them in the future and comes with double sided tape for easy install to a wall. The keypad has a screen, regular, not touch, which will guide you through setting a pin number to disarm alarms, then have you add sensors. Adding sensors is pretty simple. You'd remove the battery tab, press the sensor test button which "pairs" it to the system, then you'll be prompted to name it, then go install it in the desired location. All sensors except the camera will get installed via the keypad. The camera does require using the app to install. At this point, if you didn't use the app with initial setup of the base station, you will need to add it and have it paired to your wifi network before you can install the cameras. The base station is pretty straightforward, you'd scan the QrCode or enter its serial number. The cameras install the same way as the other sensors, they too have a test button you'd press which causes the base station to discover and announce them. You'd need to charge the batteries first. The battery install is pretty neat. It goes into the camera body then the lens cover with the camera itself screw on, kinda like a flashlight. The cameras have a magnetic base that you screw to a wall, then after setting up inside near the base, you place the camera on its mount and adjust the view. Once everything is setup, you can use the app to check status, make some configuration changes, and get a live feed from the camera, and remotely arm or disarm the system. There's more features available with a subscription. One of the biggest is that without a subscription, if your wifi/internet goes out, you lose remote access to the system whereas with a subscription, it can fall back to giving you access over cellular. Anyway, with everything setup, you can run through a test mode to verify things are working (testing the cameras is presumably just checking their feed). For the alarm, the camera is not just to give you a feed of what's going on, it also doubles as a configurable motion sensor. The cameras also support two way audio. So could be great to use as a front door/doorbell camera though as there's no way to generate an event with the alarm disabled, you'd still need a normal audible doorbell so there could be a delay in responding to someone. With just two cameras, I chose to cover the front and main back door. Theres two additional entrances to my house, one in the basement and onr upstairs which happens to be at the top of the basement stairs. The motion sensor is placed there giving me coverage as I still placed door sensors on the front and rear door and a couple easily accessible windows. Whats cool is that the SimpliSafe system is very expandable. You can add any supported sensor, you're not stuck with just this "outdoor" set. The alarm system operates in three modes. Off, where the alarm is disabled. You're at home, up and about doing your normal routine. Don't want people moving around or opening doors or windows to trigger things. Home mode is for arming the alarm when you're at home (everyone in bed). I was a bit worried at first with this mode as the kiddos often are up early and may be running around downstairs. But as the motion sensor is disabled, they won't trigger it unless they open an armed window or door. As we generally don't want them going outside before an adult is up and aware they could be outdoors, this has the added benefit as we all discovered that if an entry door is in fact opened, everyone will know in about 30 seconds. And if you've not had the pleasure of using an alarm siren as your wake up call, let's just say there's no concern here about missing it or snoozing. The base station contains the siren but it is plenty audible inside the house and somewhat outside, especially with a nearby door or window open. The final mode is Away in which every sensor is enabled and camera active and recording (if you have a subscription). The system worked pretty well… mostly. I'm happy with the video and audio quality of the cameras. I really like being able to get alerts in the app and use it to disarm the system or arm it in the minivan after getting everyone out the door. It kinda eases you into the routine of using it so you're not forced to develop the habit immediately of using the keypad, though the keypad is definitely more convenient when disarming upon entering the house with kids. I didn't like the audio volume on 2-way. In our area, particularly fall, it's often windy or rainy. Forget having a 2-way conversation. SimpliSafe has an actual video doorbell so maybe I can try that. Motion detection with the cameras was also not very consistent. While my cat never triggered them, some other things, like me, also sometimes didn't trigger them at times. I spent time tweaking the angles and even locations but haven't yet found a configuration I'm fully happy with. A big thing for me is system reliance on subscriptions or company servers. The good news here, everything works without a subscription and while there's a lot of functionality you don't get, all you have is very useful and covers most of what you'd want if your security threshold is not too worried but wanting some piece of mind. The bad is the system still relies on SimplifySafe servers for the remote access functionality. While it seems the traditional sensors, keypad, and base station would work even if their servers are down (or they go out of business), it's unclear whether the cameras will be accessible even if you're just at home connected to the same wifi. By itself, this literal system is a solid 3, borderline 4 stars. The camera issues cause it to take a hit and the seeming inability for everything to work truly independently bothers me. But the expandability and wide array of other available sensors make me confident that I can get a better tool for the 2-way front door videobell coverage job and the support forums show promise that the remaining camera issue is addressable. So that boosted my overall rating to 4 stars.

The SimpliSafe outdoor home security system is a breath of fresh air. I recently had ADT come out to give us a quote for home security coverage. Not only was the equipment expensive, it did not seem to be as high quality as the SimpliSafe equipment. I have seen several people complain about the amount of time it takes to get the live feed, some people say they are experiencing up to a 2 minute delay. I only have about a 15 to 30 second delay, and that tracks with any other motion controlled camera I have ever used. If you need there to be absolutely zero delay, then you need a wired system. The nature of this system mainly being comprised of wireless accessories that operate on batteries means that they are making every effort to save battery life. This is done by not having most of the functions of the camera constantly operating. As far as I am concerned, set up was incredibly easy, but I would definitely recommend purchasing the solar panels for any of your cameras you are installing outdoors, especially if they are up high. While you can just recharge the batteries on your own, it would be a big hassle if you have them placed up high. I would highly recommend placing them up high to prevent theft or destruction of your camera. I definitely recommend this kit though, as the two outdoor cameras included in the kit, when purchased individually, would cost about the same price as this entire kit.

I love the Simplisafe outdoor Home Security system. This set comes with the base station, keypad, 4 entry sensors, 2 cameras, and motion sensor. I love that you can also add more Simplisafe products on to this kit if you choose to do so. Set up is super easy and everything runs smoothly through the app. Its easy to get them all connected and running properly in no time. I love the entry sensors because its like an extra level of safety for our home with us having little ones. Having sensors at entry points to let me know if someone opens a door in the house allows me to act quickly fo keeo my children safe. The cameras have great clarity and shoot at a wide enough area for what i have it pointed towards. They provide a clear picture during the daytime and nightime. I was able to placw sensors on both front and back doors with ease. The cameras i set one up at front entry and one at back entry. The front entry covers my entire porch and walkway entry along with some of the yard. I love that i can manage this system while home and while not home. I do plan on adding to this kit aoon.

Over all the set up and functionality of the system are OK - I didn't encounter anything that was a show stopper however on the other hand nothing really stood out as cutting edge or better than anything else on the market Let's start with set - most to the stuff setup was fairly easy however the cameras were a bit of a pain - for some reason I and to wait 10 -15 mins for the system to allow me to add then next camera - I did try to install them into the system before mounting but this seemed a bit excessive - all of the out sensor and stuff install and then mounted and was ready of the next item by the time i was ready. During the software set up they do push the paid monitoring service quite heavily to the [point that the first time I saw it it took a bit of looking around to opt out Mounting - everything was fairly easy and straingth forward - the camera mounts seemed a bit light for there size however I haven't had any issues with them - I pulled them off and buck on several times Operation - no real issues here it works as advertised - as with all systems the wireless cameras are sensitive to how often they are triggered - this greatly affects the battery life before taking them down to recharge. You can adjust this in the software however just something to be aware. I was able to integrate it into google home and preform basic functionality that been said I found use the app to be the easiest. I will say the the app is very user friendly and fairly intuitive on operation. Overall my impression is that the system will do it's job once set up is complete - just nothing that really seem to set it part form others in the market space - so the two stars down are really for the pain in the set up

I've been a Simplisafe customer for nearly 11 months and would strongly recommend that shoppers consider another company. I've detailed my experiences below with notes about each aspect of their system that I've tried: INSTALLATION: Installation was a breeze. The included instructions and app seamlessly walk you through the setup for the base station and each of the various hardware components included with your system. KEYPAD: The keypad has a great aesthetic and works seamlessly with the rest of the system. I really appreciated that you can detach it from the wall holster in case you wanted to move it somewhere more accessible. ENTRY SENSORS: The entry sensors work extremely well. They were easy to install and provide nice feedback when opening and closing windows and doors. INDOOR MOTION SENSOR: I would not recommend if you have pets. It is advertised as being able to distinguish between humans and pets but it triggered twice by my 10 lb. cat when we were not home. It is now useless to me. OUTDOOR CAMERAS: These are not very good. I have 2 and have had to have one replaced 3 times because the batteries kept dying in a few days (even though it was in an area with very little activity--meaning there should have been very little battery useage). They also take a relatively long time to connect when trying to view live from the app (like 30 seconds). INDOOR CAMERA: I've had this replaced once and it still constantly disconnects from the system, requiring a long phone call and manual reboot to fix. My $30 pet cameras are far more reliable. BASE STATION: It looks nice and has a pleasing blue light when activated. However, it constantly disconnects from the WI-FI, requiring a manual reboot in some cases. This is inexcusable if you rely on it to work when you're away from your home. APP: The app is probably the worst component of all due to several basic features that are missing. First, you cannot create a guest or limited account. If you want another member of your household to have access, you just have to give them your username and password. Second, there's no way to customize the external camera notifications. For instance, you cannot set it so that notifications are disabled when the alarm system is set to off and enabled with the alarm system is turned on. So everytime my kid is playing in the driveway or backyard I get like 20 notifications telling me motion is detected. Lastly, and probably most importantly, is that the hardware just seems to be of poor quality. To date, I've had 3 replacement outdoor cameras, 1 replacement base station and 1 replacement indoor camera--and I still have issues with all three. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SIMPLISAFE

The Simply safe outdoor security system is not just for outdoor use. In fact, most of this kit is for inside. This has been a nice little set up for an Airbnb that I own. I'm able to set it when I don't have guests at my house. The cameras have a crisp view. And the door chimes work great. I don't use it very often since I'm booked out a lot. But it gives me ease of mind when I don't have guests. One of the negatives is that you have to have a subscription to simply safe to record video. Without the subscription. You can only watch live video. This is a little disappointing considering the price of the subscription. The ease of use of the app has been really great. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it in my Airbnb once my 30-day trial is over. I have not used the keypad to set everything. My walls are adobe and I haven't found the right place for it without ruining my walls. All in all, I'm not sure I would get this one again, but it does what it says it would. If this is what you need, do it!

I sleep better at night now that I have this home security system. Unfortunately we had to set this up after getting burglarized instead of being proactive with our security living in a city. We had some security measures in place like a doorbell camera and a yard camera, but the burglar exposed many of our flaws. He was able to gain entry to two doorways by quickly popping the locks, thankfully not into the main house, but could've easily. Not so easy anymore. This Simplisafe security system was a breeze to set up. The unit was very easy to connect to the simplisafe app. The app interface is easy to use. When you log in it jumps right to your cameras. There is a slight delay in connecting to the live feed when clicking in from a pop up notification, minimal, but noticeable for me. The video quality is great. Notifications are timely. The battery on the camera seems to drain quick, but we plan to remedy that with a solar panel. It is also super convenient to be able to set the alarm from either the keypad or on your phone through the app. The door monitors just stick right on to the surface of the door and door jam. The sound when tripping one is very loud and deterring for me to test, so I imagine that sound should cause someone uninvited to run. The motion sensor I have placed in the basement so the dogs don't trip it and thankfully no intruders have tested this for us. There are a couple of paid plans to choose from for different levels of monitoring for your comfort as well. If you're looking for a simple to set up alarm system with the option for monitoring, this system is for you. We didn't lose much property when burglarized but our sense of security was taken, this Simplisafe system home security gives it back.

Needed to get a security system upgrade. These things, like all technology, becomes outdated or newer better comes along. We really did not want to run all new wiring, as our old system was hardwired cameras and outputs to a dvr and monitor. This system made that unnecessary. Wireless battery operated cameras with no need for Ethernet cables or outlets at each camera and no need for the monitor/dvr! This system is easy to set up out of the box. Download the app and set up the account, which is pretty simple and self explanatory. Our old system was not with a monitoring company, self monitored, but it also did not have motion activations, audio or professional monitoring. It looks like we are going to try out the pro plan for a couple months, but I do see there is a self monitoring plan that still sends alerts to your phone and allows video recording and playback. This is still more services than we had before. Where we live, I don't honestly think the professional monitoring will be necessary. Police response is pretty poor and being in the city, motion activations might be frequent. I really wanted these for the wireless, battery powered outdoor cameras and am happy to say the installation and set up was worth the change! We are also using the door sensors and the keypad. This is a part of the system that we did not have before and didn't know we needed, however, they are so easy to place and activate that they make a nice additional piece of security in a city that has seen increases in security incidents recently. I hope this system lasts for years to come. It seems solid and up to current tech specs.

I have liked the Simplisafe products because they’re aimed at the average homeowner and don’t require an electrician for even a handyman to install and setup. If you’ve ever looked at a security system for your home you know they can be expensive, require lots of wiring, etc by a qualified professional, and aren’t exactly meant for a home owner to manage. On my old system that was managed by a major company, I couldn’t even turn off one of my motion detector zones without having a company representative come out to reprogram the system. I no longer use that system and now exclusively use this system. Setup was just as the name suggests… SIMPLE! It’s also a very modular system, meaning that you can add on more pieces or parts as you wish down the road or at any later time. I love this. Once I got it up and running it was ready to go! And again, setup was a breeze because the app walked me through every step. Another big selling point over the major BIG brands is the smart capabilities of this system… it knows if you go to work and forget to set arm the system, so it will remind you! My old system doesn’t do that! I decided to go the Pro route and add the monthly subscription to ensure I get the most out of my system and stay protected , I’m glad I did, and the monthly subscription is still cheaper than my old plan that was managing a different company. Highly recommend !

I was excited to try out the SimpliSafe system. This particular bundle included nine pieces: the base unit, a motion detector, 4 door sensors, a key pad, and 2 outdoor cameras. Setting up the system was pretty straight forward and easy. One major complication in set up was that my wifi is dual band which auto switches. SImpliSafe systems WILL NOT WORK on this type of wifi system. After a bit of searching online I found that a solution was to connect the unit to our guest wifi which only broadcasts the 2.4 band. Once I got that figured out activation the system and connected the various parts to the base station was relatively simple. You will have to download the SimpliSafe app before set up. The cameras are 2 way and contain a pretty loud siren that blares when the alarm does sound. In the week we have been using the system the cameras have disconnected or malfunctioned numerous times. They are both very close to wifi router but there are a couple of walls (including an exterior wall) which is evidently creating some interference. SimpliSafe offers support via chat or phone. It took a while to get them on the line, but they were helpful once I got them. There are additional add on products that you can easily add to the system. (I purchased the external siren and a FOB.) There are a couple of monitoring options. The self-monitoring one is about $11 and the one where SimpliSafe monitors your system is about $37 every month. There is no long term commitment though they do make it difficult to cancel you have to call the 800 number and talk with an agent. You can upgrade the plan online but not cancel it online. One major consideration to keep in mind when considering this system is the reliability of your internet service. It is 100% dependent upon a strong 2.4 network wifi connection.

First and foremost, the setup process is a breeze. No complicated wiring or professional installation required. Simply follow the intuitive instructions after downloading the app, and you'll have your system up and running in no time. I can see how this can be of extreme usefulness if one isn’t savvy with tools. Keep in mind that there are more addons to this system but this is a wonderful start. The included sensors are incredibly responsive, detecting even the slightest motion or intrusion with precision. You can rest assured knowing that your home is being thoroughly monitored and protected. The four entry sensors really make this a whole house package. front doors, garages, and even a few windows can be monitored and can ultimately trigger an event in the case that it was a true event. There was one catch and that was the fact that the system costs money to buy and money to record. Its expected in todays day and age given as the CCTV systems are more expensive depending on certain features and the fact that your footage is secure in a cloud based system gives you some sort of peace of mind that if they take your DVR, you're not completely out of luck. Cloud based systems are basically the safest thing in terms of storing data securely. I just didn't like having to pay record something in case there's an event. Simplisafe offers different pricing tiers to match your needs, ranging from the Fast Protect to the more comprehensive options. You can select the plan that suits your budget and desired level of protection. The Fast Protect plan covers the essentials, providing 24/7 monitoring and access to the mobile app. There are lower tiers and their unmonitored option which just lets you disarm and check your feed. You can't use their advanced features which include 24/7 dispatch, unlimited camera recording, and ability to download footage. The camera quality left a lot to be desired but it got the job done. It also lacked in the night vision department. I wasn't too pleased with the fact that I'm limited to what I can do with the system that I'd purchase to secure my home. It does well as expected. My only two complaints are the need for a plan and the camera quality. Sure they're HD but it sort of is useless in terms of using the video for evidence etc.

The most important thing I want anyone who reads this review to know is just how EASY it was to setup the SimpliSafe system. It was effortlessly simple. I blocked out a whole day but had all devices paired in about an hour. The SimpliSafe mobile app is fantastic and it's the first time ever that things have just worked, paired, connected to my WiFi, etc. without an issue. I say all of this because I know the trepidation I had and I am surprised and happy with the setup experience, that on that alone, I would recommend the SimpliSafe system. What's in the box (SimpliSafe 9pc Outdoor Security Kit) - 1x Base Station, Connects Wirelessly, 24 hour battery backup, No Ethernet Required (or supported) - 2x Cameras (Wireless) - 4x Entry Sensors (Door/Window Open Sensors) - 1x Motion Sensor - 1x Keypad Mounting tape, screws, USB cables, etc. There's also a yard sign and stickers for your windows. Rechargeable devices (not including base station, which has it's own batter) charge via microUSB. The sensors use Lithium 2032 batteries, the Keypad uses AA batteries. In terms of the build quality, everything feels well made, quality and not cheap. The SimpliSafe system feels and looks professional. The cameras are bigger and chunkier than I expected, but using them outdoors in all weather, I am guessing it's a trade off. I can't comment on battery life, SimplifSafe rate them for at least 3 months - so we'll see. Video quality is very good (1080p). The base sttaion looks good, it's also the alarm (95db) and they encourage you to put it in the center of your home. I had no issues with WiFi connectivity and I run a mesh network. What is important to know is that to get full features you need to have a SimpliSafe subscription to get all app features. There's free 30 day pro monitoring included (it's about $1 a day). The system works without pro monitoring but you lose features (cloud recording storage, which is important, cellular backup). The plus is that you can cancel anytime, which is what I think I'll do after 30 days - paying for a subscription when we're on vacation as my partner works from home most days. Overall, I'm impressed. Easier to setup than expected, looks great and the kit has everything you need for the average small-medium home. There are add on products you can buy like video doorbells and water, smoke, glass breakage sensors - so you can literally do everything you need with one app and kit. Which is pretty cool and I checked out the prices and they're reasonable. So you can have the SimpliSafe ecosystem for everything. If I have one criticism, maybe two... I wish the used USB C for the camera charging and the cameras are large. I'll give SimpliSafe a pass on the large cameras, as they also make a good visual deterrent. Definitely recommended, great app, easy to setup, and that extra peace of mind you need.
