Good value, great performer - Hesh Evo Wireless

With so many over-the-ear choices, why Hesh Evo? This wireless set, currently $100 at Best Buy pumps out clean, clear, pure sound through comfortable earcups, effectively blocking muting outside sounds. Add 36-hour battery life, rapid charging (3 hours in only 10 minutes) and the ability to take phone calls and it is easy to see why I like and recommend these cans. And there is more!
**WHAT’S IN THE BOX**
· Hesh Evo Wireless Headphones
· USB-C charging cable
· Direct connection “Aux” cable
· Travel bag
· Instructions and Warranty
**FEATURES & BENEFITS**
· Comfortable fitting earcups for all-day wear
· Outside noise isolation from excellence in earcup design
· Headphones stay in place, not too heavy
· Pure, sweet sound tailorable to user preference through connected device sound settings; more or less bass, acoustic, music genres, etc.

· Conduct phone calls with built-in forward-facing microphone in bottom of R earcup
· Bluetooth connection to one device at a time
· Built-in TILE to locate your misplaced Hesh Evo (requires TILE app download and setup)
**SETUP**
Typical of similar devices, press the ON button for three seconds, pairing mode is automatic (and available at any time with a press of the Pairing button), pair with your device. Now, play, enjoy, repeat. Install the mobile device TILE app, follow prompts in TILE to connect Hesh Evo. Recharging is accomplished with the provided USB-C to USB-A cable. Direct connect to devices with the provided double-ended 3.5 mm cable. Will not charge while in use. Rapid charge provides three hours of use with a 10-minute charge.
**PUT TO THE TEST**
From music to podcasts, use is effortless. Selecting the desired sound profile is also easy within settings on a connected mobile device or computer. The Skullcandy app is not currently compatible with this model, but I do no find it to be necessary.
Making voice calls is not its strong suit, as call quality is only just adequate. In my tests, others commented that the call quality is not as clear as with other headsets and words in the beginning of a string are sometimes clipped. In fairness, however, this capability is a built-in feature of Bluetooth technology, added at little cost, yet still available. With but a single microphone located far from the mouth in the surrounding plastic base of the right earcup, the science is not friendly towards excellence in this area.
Where Hesh Evo shines is incoming sound from connected devices. Here, its $100 cost seems a relative bargain for the quality received, reminiscent of headsets easily twice the cost. I have worn them an entire day while at my computer and then later on relaxing with the Music app on my iPhone. Absolutely, positively excellent sound quality, sure to please the most discerning listener attracted to its price point versus competitors at twice the price.
As for the addition of TILE to the mix, I am still pondering the benefit. It is not easy to misplace a set of headphones, so why TILE? Why not, I guess. For the record, yes, it works as does any TILE. The app finds it, pinging its location and causing the headphones (when powered on) to emit a distinct, though not very loud tone, to invite being found.
**CONCLUSIONS**
Nice, very nice. No complaints at its price and list of abilities. Of the two others in my home orbit that I fit with these headphones for their opinions, all gave enthusiastic THUMBS UP! Now, add mine.
**WARRANTY**
Skullcandy Hesh Evo Over-the-Ear Headphones come with the manufacturer’s 2-year warranty.

Blue tooth works poorly depending on position of head which is disappointing. Sound quality is good. Buttons are small for my big hands which is more of a problem for my hands with many devices.

I have a lot of headphones! You name a type of headphone and I'm sure I have one in that category. Over the ear, on ear, Bluetooth, wired, wireless, noise cancelling, etc...I have a real addiction to headphones. With that said, I have a lot of comparisons to bring to the table when reviewing headphones like the Skullcandy Hesh Evo here. Since there are a lot of features to take a look at, I'm going to break this review down into categories.
Appearance:
I received the Skullcandy Hesh Evo’s in their True Black color which I really enjoy. The ear cups are mostly matte black, as is the headband, with a few areas of glossy black finish. They look good, but aren’t flashy and don’t stand out like other headphones in this price range.
Build Quality:
These are very light, but upon use and further inspection I found that they were built pretty solidly. The metal reinforced headband is nice, as I have seen quite a few manufacturers go with all plastic headbands that just don’t last very long. The ear cup material itself seems a little stiff at first, but once it warms up it tends to soften a bit. Overall the build quality is very decent for such a light pair of over the ear headphones.
Comfort:
This is one of the most important items with headphones and these do pretty decently in the comfort area. I have a giant head (size 8 in fitted hats) and these fit me at the very largest setting, but they do fit comfortably at that setting. The ear cup padding is a little stiff at first, but tends to break in over time. Skullcandy could have definitely put a bit more padding on the top of the headband where it rests against your head, but overall these were pretty comfortable after a few hours of continuous use.
Sound:
These headphones come with 40mm drivers and you can most definitely tell as the sound that these emit is fantastic, even above what these are normally priced. The sound tends to lean towards a slight emphasis on bass, but not to an extent that it ruins the experience for users wanting a more natural sound. Highs, mids and lows come in crisp and clear, even at higher volumes. My playlist mashup of guitar heavy rock, screaming vocals, classical and hip hop all shined when played through these. I have no complaints about the sound quality here.
While the headphones themselves do not have any active noise cancellation, these do isolate sound and minimize sound bleed very well. Using them in an office setting should be absolutely fine and they should muffle just about most conversations and sounds at a medium volume level. I was not able to be distracted by my coworkers even when listening to an audiobook with these. Sound isolation is very good.
Connectivity/Ease of Use:
I paired these with my iPhone and had no issues doing so, pairing was fast and easy. Range was very good. I mean, these actually stayed connected at a further distance than my normal headphones I use at work that cost about double what these do. Sound quality via Bluetooth was fantastic as well. The headphones are also capable of being connected via a 3.5mm audio cable in case you run out of juice or prefer a cabled experience.
There are only a few buttons on the headset itself and they are easy to feel free and operate without having to look for them. Power, volume up/down and track skip are all there at your fingertips. I had no issues with these buttons and enjoyed how simple the configuration was. They fold flat as well and can be laid flat down on your neck when you're not actively listening to them, this is a nice feature!
The unique feature of these headphones is that they come built in with Tile, which lets you download an app on your phone to track your headphones. I did test this and it worked well, with the Tile application on my phone being able to tell me almost exactly where my headphones are. I can see this being useful for people that maybe travel a lot or tend to be space cadets with their gear. I don’t think I’ll be using this functionality a lot personally since I find it difficult to lose a pair of full sized headphones like this.
Overall Impressions:
Upon opening the box and feeling how light these headphones were I was definitely skeptical as to how they’d perform and feel when worn, but Skullcandy surprised me with it’s audio fidelity, decent comfort level and superb wireless connectivity. These headphones are a solid value at the price they retail for and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these to a friend.

The wireless Hash Evo Headphones are a new addition to Skullcandy lineup that keeps impressing.
Design/ Build quality:
Skullcandy have been a specific design style that is recognizable across their line up. Its simple yet elegant and these headphones are no different. They are in matte black with good quality build that is made of light weight material but built sturdily. I have been using Skullcandy products for over 3 years and they are still all in working order.
Pairing/ connection:
These headphones can be connected with either Bluetooth or using the provided dual male stereo jack cable. Pairing via Bluetooth took literally 10 seconds. I was able to pair it to my Android and Apple phones, and to my Bluetooth enabled tv for an immersive sound experience that doesn’t disturb others in the night hours.
Sound quality/ volume:
Sound quality is good enough for this price range. The bass and treble are good and the volume is high enough for me and my preference.
Call quality is very good. No issues here whatsoever.
Comfort:
these are very comfortable to wear. They are built ergonomically in a way that causes no pressure points anywhere on my head. This is one of the most important factors in choosing a headphone and it is as important as the sound quality.
These headphones are extremely comfortable and I forgot I was wearing them. They are perfect and take little space when not in use, you can fold and stack them in the black bag that came in the box.
They also fit snuggly on my head, and they cover my ears well. Skullcandy claims they have noise isolating fit, not noise cancelling and I found that to be true.
Battery life: I got 30+ hours per charge when using on mid volume and Bluetooth. Charging is via a USB type C which is great as I don’t need to have many different cables to charge it. What charges my phone works with these headphones as well.
Controls placement/ ease of use: Controls are easy with soft press buttons for power, volume up/ down and pairing, and answering calls.
Extra features: they come with tile built in so you can locate them if you misplaced them using the paired device.
Final thoughts: Skullcandy continues to impress me. I have been using their products for years and I am not disappointed.

These have been the absolute best headphones for my 10year old. These were a replacement for his last pair that he has had for the past three years. They have survived countless drops to the hardwood floor and still worked flawlessly. These fit the best for his small ears/head but will also fit an adults head as well. He wears them hours each day without discomfort. The battery life is amazing as well. They last him days without having to charge them. These are not feature rich like the more expensive pairs, but the sound is adequate for the average user.

Great Sound at a Great Value

These are some quality over the ear headphones. They are not the best sounding or have the best build quality, but they offer a great experience at their price point. You get 90% of what some other mid to higher tier headphones offer, but at a much greater value.
Build Quality – The headphones are mostly plastic, silicon, and aluminum. They feel super light, and can almost feel like you aren’t wearing them after a while. The only downside is that they don’t feel as substantial as some other higher end headphones. I did like the more tactile feel around the outside of each cup. The padding around the cup and on the headband are nice, but again, not the most luxurious experience out there.
Sound – The sound out of these cans is good. Good highs, and decent lows. The mids seem to be kind of lost in there, but not bad. Soundstage isn’t as wide as some higher end headphones, but again really great for the price point. I listened to Country, R&B, Hip-Hop, EDM, and old school Rock. All those genres sounded great with these headphones. Even some jazz songs I tried out, sounded great.
Features – The main extra feature here is the Tile integration. Setup is relatively simple; you download the app, connect to the headphones and you are good to go. In theory, if you lose your headphones, then the app should help you locate them. Battery life is also good, and I love how it tells you your battery level when you power them on. On that note, I really like the AI voice that is used with these headphones. It kind of reminds me of Marvin the android from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The voice has this subtle bored/relaxed tone to it that I found funny and unique.
Overall – These are really good headphones and are easy to recommend for someone looking for great value headphones. Again, sound isn’t stellar, but you are getting most of the soundstage and sound quality that you would from some high-end headphones for a fraction of the cost. The battery life, ease to pair, and Tile integration, just sweeten the deal.

Lets start with audio quality – These sound GOOD. They are not AirPods Pro but I found them comparable to other competing offerings in the sub-$150 true wireless category. Great sound that was clear and distortion free, but not the bass depth that some will be looking for, despite their affordable price. I found the replication of sound much closer to true but not punchy. The lack of Active Noise Cancellation was a disappointment, but expected in this price range. The audio quality was so good that I almost expected it as these seem to be swinging for the higher end of the market.
The design is great, The charging charges with USB-Type-C so we’re finally in 2020 here with form factor.
One of the other unsung heroes of this design is Skullcandy including TILE support built-in – You can activate your headphones withn TILE device in the Tile app – Always easy to find – In my opinion EVERY TW headphones set should include this or something like it!!
I had no problem wearing them comfortably for an hour or so in my tests. The cushion fit perfectly around my ears and were comfortable enough to wear for most of the day making phone calls and listening to music etc.
Battery life was pretty amazing. I left them unplugged overnight for a couple days and when I went to turn them on it turned on and still lasted me the entire day.
These are a great offering overall – 2 years of manufacturer limited warranty out-of-the-box – No need to buy extended warranties here! Built in locator support with TILE, 36 hour battery, rapid charging, comfortable your cushions and great sound quality.
The Hesh Evo headphones were not expected to be this feature packed for the price – I wasn’t expecting the sound quality or the features and warranty coverage offered by Skullcandy in their latest “true wireless” offering. Overall 10 out of 10 especially for the price!

First off let me explain. I don’t waste time testing out my Skullcandy Hesh Evo headphones which I got at a discount price for my honest option. So here it is.
I received my Skullcandy Hesh Evo wireless headphones and I plugged them in for the initial charge and it ended up being super quick. It was more like 30 mins to get the full charge. So after they were fully charged I put them on and the first thing I will say is man are these babies comfortable on my ears even after wearing them for hours watching a movie or while I’m cleaning the house. The wireless feature allow me to be hands free which in turn allows room to move without limits of a cord. I just slide my phone in my back pocket, or in any other room and I go to work. The soft pad allows for a comfortable fit, as to not hurt my head/ears with the adjustable over the head feature. I easily connected to Bluetooth and away I went. I popped on my music app and man was the beat hitting. I was listening to my music for a few hours and the battery life is truly amazing, after 4 hours it’s still charged. I love the way they turn in so they lay flat or fold for easy storage in small spaces and it’s a sleek design. My son came in and tried to con me out of my headphones which is a hard NOT. Lol... the quality is truly one of the best I’ve heard in an over the ear headphone. They are definitely without a doubt noise cancelling which I got to witness first hand with my son coming in trying to talk and I couldn’t hear a thing, yay me!!! I recommend these SkullCandy Hesh Evo headphones to anyone wanting a good quality brand for the money.

Another Solid Skullcandy Set

I have a pair of Skullcandy Venue's that I absolutely love. Before COVID when I was traveling for work, they were my go-to pair of headphones. Now, with the kids doing school at home and me not on the road, I needed to get some good headphones for my kids because they have their computers in the same room. So I picked up a pair of Skullcandy EVO Hesh's for my youngest because I'd already gotten her sister a pair of Skullcandy Hesh 3's.
In terms of build, the EVO Hesh is nearly identical to the Hesh 3 and my Venue's. The weight of the product is hefty without being overly heavy. One of the complaints my daughter had with her older, on-ear set of headphones she had was that they hurt there ears and head if she wore them for long periods of time. With school being remote, this was becoming a daily occurrence. Now that she's using the EVO's, I don't hear a peep about her ears or head hurting.
The EVOs have the same kind of foam padding around the ears as the Hesh and Venue's - so I know they're comfortable and my daughter agrees.
There are some features missing in the EVO compared to the Venue, which I expected. For one, the EVO's don't have Active Noise Cancelling, but that's not really an issue because the cups fit nicely over my daughter's ears and she wouldn't be able to hear me yelling at her... so win-win. Another feature that the EVO doesn't have compared to the Venue is the Tile integration. But again, these headphones aren't leaving the house and don't leave her desk, so not really an issue. These aren't even negatives - just comparing the features of the EVO against my Venue's.
The EVO's fold up nicely for traveling, if you're still able to do that sort of thing in this COVID-19 world. They come with a soft carrying case as well as USB-C cable for charging and an aux cable to use in place of battery / bluetooth. My daughter has these plugged into her computer, so I can't really speak to the battery life on bluetooth - but she says she can hear fine and the microphone does a good enough job because the teachers don't have a problem hearing her.
I've tried them on as well - they certainly feel lighter than my Venue's but they still have that same Skullcandy feel to them - which is to say they're comfortable and sound great.

Excellent Budget Headsets

These Skullcandy budget headsets are actually pretty good for the price. The build quality is good and they feel comfortable. They are made out of plastic with some glossy black sections giving this piano gloss look. The ear foam pads don't seem to be leather but they feel soft and make this nice seal to maskout the outside noise. When you put them on it actually feels like they have some type of noise canceling but it is just noise isolation, it does it very well.
When it comes to sound they may not be on par with some of the more expensive headsets but they sound very good. The music sounds very well balanced and it has a good solid base for my taste. I found the music to sound much better at mid level than higher volume. Paring them with my phone was very simple. On the right side ear cuff has 4 rubber buttons volume up or down, power and the pairing button and the charging indicator light. The headphones can be charged using the included USBC cable but you will need a power brick.
This Evo headsets also comes with Tile built, which it was easy to set up. I’ll see this kind of useful but when you try to locate them the high pitch sound coming from the headset may not be heard by some people specially if they are covered up. One thing I really like is that I am using the headphones as my daily driver for gaming. It works perfectly with the Xbox and the best part you don’t need to power them on, just connect it using the included headphone cable to the Xbox controller and that's it. As for the battery life it’s been about a week and I have not charged them yet since the first day I got them I used them 3-4hrs daily.
Overall, for my opinion is a very good headset for the price and they sound verywell. In the box you’ll get the heasest, charging USBC cable, 3.5mm headphone cables, carrying bag, and manuals.

Battery life lasts pretty long, i've only had to charge it twice in the past month maybe. I'm not fond of the weight. Its actually quite light, but because of that, it just somehow feels cheap. I asked everyone in my household how much they thought the headset costed, by weight and sound alone, and it ranged from about 30-50. Nowhere near what i paid for them. The entire casing is like a thin matte plastic with shiny black sections. I've noticed that sometimes turning it off/on sometimes requires a LOT of pressure on the button, and sometimes it takes 30 seconds to push it just right for it to turn on/off. It also occasionally randomly mutes? The audio will cut out for about 5 seconds, no other sound cues like maybe battery or out of range (ive never gone out of range with it so far) ans then the audio randomly returns. I dont know why this happens but it seems to fix itself. Sound is pretty solid, i wish the ear pads were a little softer though. Glad i got it on sale and not full price.

Features:
These headphones come with a travel bag so you can carry them easily when taking them from place-to-place.
These also come with an auxiliary cable so you can use them as either wireless or wired for you phone, Roku remote, MP3 player, etc.
Outstanding Feature:
You can easily find these headphones around your home with the Tile finding technology that is built right in. You need to download the Tile app, pair the headphones and follow directions. Now you can easily find those missing headphones that you either misplaced or your sneaky sister decided to borrow them. Follow the beeping sound and you will locate exactly where they are in your house. Your sister will think twice next time because she now knows that she will be caught. I absolutely LOVE this feature.
Battery Life:
These will last up to 36 hours with a full charge. They have a rapid charge which will give you 3 hours of play time with just a 10 minute charge.
Controls: The buttons for the controls are on the right ear cup. These 4 buttons control an array of functions, such as On/Off, volume up/down, track forward/back, play/pause, answer/end call and activate assistant. The headphones adjust to custom fit your head and the cushions on the ear pieces make for a very comfortable fit. There is a built in microphone for your calls.
About:
These are not noise cancelling but they do cut down the outside noise enough so you aren’t distracted. You can still hear people talking, but you may need to take them off or turn down the volume to hear exactly what they are saying depending on how loud you have the volume. The sound is excellent considering they don’t have an app to adjust the treble, bass, etc. I could hear clearly when making calls and the person on the other end could hear me clearly also.
Experience:
I paired these to the TV in my bedroom and the sound was absolutely excellent. They blocked out sound to the other rooms so that I wouldn’t disturb anyone. The sound made me feel like I was right in the movie. It was amazing. They actually sounded better to me than the more expensive headphones I have had. I highly recommend these. Try them and I think you will like them. I LOVE them.

They’re great! I wanted a pair of headphones that wouldn’t hurt my ears if I wore them for a while and these don’t! They can hurt the crown of your head after awhile but if you adjust them they get more comfortable. The sound quality is wonderful too! Also easy pairing and connecting. Definitely worth the money! Also I’ve only charged them once and I bought them months ago and have not yet needed to charge them again, fantastic battery life.
