Customers are pleased with the Trim Plus Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell's excellent video quality, ease of installation, and reliable night vision. Many also appreciate the user-friendly design and convenient features like motion detection and free cloud storage. The wide field of view is frequently praised for its comprehensive coverage. In looking at other types of these, I think they SkyBell would be better suited for most, especially those on a budget.
I really think the biggest selling point is that there is no monthly cost for the SkyBell, whereas most of the others are anywhere from $10+ a month. It might be worth it to pay monthly though, but that's up to you.
The picture quality is quite good, especially at night time cause it has Full-Color Night-vision which makes distinguishing things near or far much much easier. I wish these had been around a while back as there have been some incidents in our neighborhood and this would have gone a long ways to catching the culprits who vandalized our property. Audio is fine and I had no issues with it. Plenty clear, though I imagine Audio and Video quality will greatly depend on your Internet Bandwidth.
There are a few features I wish it did have, higher fps while recording or viewing live. 24-30 would be ideal, 15 isn't terrible but it's obviously perceptible. The other feature is the motion zones. This might come later down the road in firmware/software updates so who knows. Being able to tell it to not come on every time a car drives by would be great as it's only about 30 feet or so to the street.
The only con I can think of would be the installation. Our doorbell that was in place was 90 degrees to the door, to rectify this I had to purchase the mounting wedges, they're not cheap and they're $10 a pop, so depending on the angle, 2 for me, it's a bit of an annoyance. It would have been nice to have at least one provided, especially when a lot folks have doorbells facing the across not down the walkway. So if your doorbell is like this, you'll need the wedge or wedges to install it and have a good viewing angle. Do get the ones directly from Skybell though because nothing third-party will work with these as they're all designed for the Ring devices not for other ones which is quite sad.
If you're looking for a competitively priced Doorbell Cam but don't want the monthly cost, this is the one for you.

If you don’t already have a system that offers a similar option this is a great choice. It does not require a subscription or a hub to work. Installation was easy and comparable to other video doorbell units. The application is simple and does not offer as many options as other systems, but at least it’s free. The image quality is good and the field of vision was spot on where I placed on my back door. It nice that it is hard-wired and does not have a battery to replace or have to charge. Unfortunately you cannot change out the faceplate so make sure the color it comes with looks Ok where it is mounted. The entire unit is plastic but feels sturdy enough to hold up to everyday use.

The only hard part of installation is securing the locking screw after assembly. The door bell sits flush against the house and there is very little room to turn the screwdriver to tighten the screw. I actually had to get an eyeglass screwdriver and got it tight. The video quality is excellent. The audio is acceptable but has a little reverb and delay to it. One great plus is no annoying monthly fee for video storage or membership to buy like some others. Replaced a ring doorbell and find this sky bell to better. If you have a digital doorbell chime you will need an adapter sold separately. Didn’t see this plainly on the box. Installation and set up took less than 30 minutes.

Let's face it. This is basically a clone of the more famous brand doorbell with the constant TV commercials. Looks very similar. Does all the same stuff. But costs a bit less.
The 1080p camera (its set for 720p by default but you can increase the resolution if you have the wi-fi bandwidth) provides a clear picture of whats going on by the front door -- day or night, It activates if someone rings the doorbell or simply walks up to the front door (sometimes) thanks to a built in motion detector. A built in microphone and speaker allow remote two-way communication with the homeowner via smartphone -- although the volume is very low so the person by the front door may have a hard time hearing it.
Setup and video feeds from the Skybell are accessible only via Skybell's smartphone app (Apple and Android), Computers are NOT supported. So that's the first caveat. (Skybell suggests on its web site it may add computer support later but provides no timeline.) It also requires a hardwired doorbell to provide power to the unit. Most homes built in the last 70 years with a wired doorbell probably have the correct transformer to power the device.
That said, installation is not the most intuitive process. If you follow the step by step process in the app, you will probably succeed in getting it working. It took me 15-20 minutes. But it's not the most intuitive process. Especially connecting the doorbell to your wi-fi network. Just follow the instructions, no matter how odd they may seem. It works. The doorbell flashes different colors during the install to let you know if things are going right. If you see a green light at the top at the end the install, congratulations. You did it right.
It might be a good idea to go to the Skybell web site first and look at some of the instructional videos before you begin, since the retail package has no installation instructions whatsoever. Just install the app.
Those short on essential tools will be happy to learn the retail package includes a small screwdriver (with a reversible shaft to deal with the two different kinds of screws on the device) as well as a specialized drill bit for brick or concrete, I assume. I have wood siding so did not need that to attach the baseplate.
The doorbell housing has a brushed nickel look but is actually thick plastic, which might hold up to weather better in the long run than metal. You install the baseplate first, which is where the wiring connects. The cover goes on top, held in place by a set screw on the bottom. Simple.
The Skybell is backlit by LEDs. You get the choose any color you want, using the app, a nice touch.
Once installed, I found the Skybell something of a mixed bag. It always alerted me if the doorbell was pushed but the motion sensor proved a bit flaky. Sometimes ir worked, sometimes not, without a clear reason why. You can adjust the sensitivity via the app but it did not appear to make a huge difference. So I would not count on it to always catch those porch pirates in action.
You can access a live video feed from the doorbell anytime using the app. A week's worth of still photos generated by the motion sensor or doorbell push also are accessible at all times. No extra charge for that, thank goodness.
Overall, it's a pretty good system, assuming the motion sensor functionality is not your top priority. It looks good, is fairly easy to install and does the job in terms of allowing you to easily monitor and remotely converse with the person at the front door.

Looking for a doorbell that serves as a camera to see who is at your door and at the same time that could serve to record who crosses in front of your house door, this is clearly a great option that you should consider.
Pros:
In the box, you have each item that could be needed for installation: driller bit, screwdriver, screws, fastener, plate and camera. This means that you just need to borrow a driller to proceed with the installation.
The setting up with your house wireless is really easy and intuitive. Just a quick download of the app and follow the instructions. I own an android device and in some of the steps, you should jump between the instruction in the app and the phone setting but no a big deal. I recommend that the setting up is done before you install the camera in the wall, a simple process by connecting the camera to a usb cable and configure the camera, so when the plate is in the wall, you have all ready.
Great image recorded during day and night, you clearly see the face of your visitor or the neighbor that seems attracted by your delivered package.
One camera is installed, the use of the app is super simple. Play around to be sure that you have the right level of sensitivity, video quality and volume for the two directions sound.
This is key to consider price, you don’t need a subscription to keep your images recorded and access to them. You buy an all is included in your price!.
Cons:
The light in the device is quite bright and during the night seems to attract the attention of the people crossing in front of my door. You could read it positively because probably defer some not suitable visitors, but in my community, there is concerns about undesirable recording.
The sensitivity of the device is sometimes to high, that generates false alarms in my phone of people crossing when in reality are heavy winds or tree branches in the distance.
With all, I love it and is a great addition to my house.

The SkyBell Trim Plus was very easy to install. Camera is clear with a good wide angle view. Companion app is also easy to use and I love being able to interact with someone at the door live. Also hard to beat the included cloud storage. The blue lighting is maybe a little too bright for my taste but that's about the only criticism that I would have. So overall I would say it's is a winner.

Lets start with the good.
*easy setup- up and running in less than 10 mins
*easy to use app- Not much to the app it's clean and simple, You can see a live view and watch activity's that it recorded
very easily
*no monthly subscription cost, This is a big plus
*good video and sound- Default video setting is 720p but easy to change. Two chatting worked good.
Now on to my dislikes.
The physical doorbell itself feels lite and cheap
Doesn't play well this others as in I have amazon units, and google ones, samsung family hub and neither of them can you see a live video of the door bell with. So if someones at the door I can't just look at my refrigerator screen or the other units sitting out around the house to see who's there. Have to use a phone or table. It only came with one skin. Unlike the other one I have that came with 3 colors to pick from.
The motion detection is poor even set at the highest setting.
In the end this is in the same price range as other with not as many options. But dose work

I have security cameras monitoring my home, but have wanted a doorbell camera for a while... ' happy with this item, the installation was super easy, way easier than i thought it would be. App installation and syncing took some time but was seamless overall, no real issues, just waiting for it to connects and sync. Once synced and installed, it worked as advertised, notifications appeared quickly on my phone and the video quality was very good. Two-way communication worked great.

I would have given this a five star rating if its front had been metal and not an all plastic construction device.
But if your looking to replace a WIRED doorbell button with a video doorbell you should consider this one.
It will not work if your current doorbell is a wireless doorbell.
There is a Pre- Installation checklist on the companies website that I suggest taking a look at before you buy, and If you do buy and have any issues with the install.
Installation was quick but rather cumbersome, but I completed it with only mid level frustration.
The night vision with this doorbell is color and has the best night vision I have seen from such a device.
We have had another brand, one of the first ones to come out on another door for years.
If you dont have a smartphone, this device is not for you.
Unlike some other video doorbell devices, there is no computer access to view the doorbell.
You must use the app on your smartphone.
You must also have a router and your own WiFi network, and a good WiFi signal at the point of use in order for this and similar devices to function. (Not a problem for most, yet a major MUST)

The picture quality for both day and night time is fantastic - very clear and doesn't look like a fish eye lens. Best nighttime video i have seen.
Provides the ability to customize the LEDs on the door bell via the app. You can even have them change to whatever color you want when someone approaches or rings the doorbell.
No need to have a hub or other system to make the unit work and NO monthly fees or contract to record videos.
Install was quick and easy!!

Good Doorbell, Mixed Pros and Cons

The Skybell Trim Plus is a connected video doorbell that records in full 1080p HD at 15 frames per second. The "trim" is by comparison to the larger round Skybell models. This one is typically small enough to fit on a small space to the side of a door. That said, it's still larger than the old mechanical type doorbell that it replaces. However, in exchange for that extra size, you get video recording, the ability to carry on a conversation with someone at the door, and notifications or alerts if motion is detected or the door bell (button) is pressed.
Installation is pretty straightforward. Remove the old door bell, install the mounting plate over that location making sure to pull the wires through the hole and attach them to the mounting plate power screws. You then install the main doorbell body over it and secure it with a set screw. You then need to wait a few mintues for the doorbell to "charge" before you can access it via the app. Unfortuately, this doesn't mean the doorbell has a backup battery. It's just the way the doorbell taps power off an existing connection. Note, you can install the doorbell even if you don't have an existing one, you'd just need to supply an appropriate voltage source with power resistor between the terminals.
The nice thing about using your existing doorbell wiring is that the Skybell can make use of your existing doorbell chime. Whats cool is that you can turn it off - as in pressing the door bell does not ring the chime. This is great with young children at home who nap during the day. The downside is you'd need to remember to open the app to do this, there's no mode switch or anything like that on the doorbell itself.
Speaking of which, the doorbell requires the Skybell app to function as a smart doorbell. Otherwise, it's just a fancy connection to your doorbell chime. After connecting the doorbell to your wifi network you can configure a few things in the app. Sensitivity of the motion sensor, whether or not the door bell rings the chime. What type of notifications you get via the app (ring, motion). From the app, you can carry on a conversation with someone at the doorbell, getting a live feed. At 15 frames per second, this isn't that great, but sufficient for such conversations. Where the 15 FPS is a let down is the motion triggered recordings of activity that took place in view of the doorbell. For that, it would be nice to have a higher framerate. I'd gladly have that mode record at 720p at 30FPS.
The only configuration you get on the motion sensor is sensitivity. You can select a zone to monitor. And even at the lowest sensitivity level, you will get a lot of triggers. That can be both good or bad. Good if you're using this to augment monitoring what's going on around your house and saving the recordings to review later. Bad as in you probably will end up turning off notifications for motion sensor detection because there's too much so you won't really be able to respond to things in realtime unless someone actually presses the doorbell.
The recordings are not saved locally - they go to the cloud. Skybell offers 7 days of storage with the free tier which is pretty nice by comparison to most other offerings. 7 days can be enough to store records that you can review for something that happened after the fact. You will need to manaully download those videos if you want to keep them over a longer period. So if you need to preserve recordings over a much longer period of time, versus simply having access should there be a break-in or something like that, you'd need to pony up the subscription cash or be religious aboud downloading videos once a week.
Nightvision on the Skybell really depends on placement and what kinds of light is already present around your door. It seems it's not really IR based so it really depends on having good lighting. If you don't already have a motion activated light, you may not get good video/visibility into someone at your doorstep, much less anything beyond that.

Quite surprised how big this is in person. It’s a candy bar sized doorbell. In this age of smaller and smaller devices, this was somewhat disappointing. Somehow the promo pictures online made my brain think it was smaller. Over all, however, picture quality and audio are good. Easy to set up if you have an existing doorbell.

I have used a Nest Hello for over a year and thought I'd try out this slim Skybell Trim Plus. I looked at Ring as well, but their doorbells look much larger and clunkier.
Anyway, this Skybell is surprisingly good quality. VERY easy mounting and install. No need to screw around with the existing chime. Of course just make sure you have your current doorbell connected to a transformer (not all, but most are). I like the motion zone setup and good response time as well.
Connection to WiFi was easy and so far working great. No monthly fees is a major plus as well. Hopefully it will operate well when harsh winter comes around as well (Chicago area has vast extremes).

Disclosure: I was not aware this product required external power as my prior door bells had a watch like battery in them. Thankfully these were installed over a hole where the prior wiring had been taped up and rolled up inside the door frame.
Installation was acceptable. I would not say it was the easiest thing following the limited directions, but I figured out how to install despite the instructions. I am old school and like more than just pictures to guide me through the installation process.
Performance. As I have no experience with other such systems so I can't make direct comparisons on the pros and cons of this over those, I did find that the night vision worked well and I liked that the door bell was able to work with my phone which is nice since my office is in the back of my home and furthest room away from the door (many times the bell rings and I'm not sure who is there and being able to see them makes up for the fisheye door peephole).
This system is worth the money in just having a piece of mind answering the bell via the phone and to know who is out there.

I received the SkyBell - Trim Plus Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell - Wired - Brushed Aluminium as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Network.
I was fearing I would need to hire someone to install it because I've never used a video doorbell before. But decided to take a crack at it, and it's insanely simple. Remove old doorbell button from the wires, use backing plate to drill new hole for bottom half if needed (drill bit included!), Wire new video doorbell with old wires, mount, setup through Wi-Fi, and customize functions and LEDs through app.
Once installed and set up it's just like a normal doorbell. Except you can get notifications from anywhere with the app, talk to people at the door from the couch and monitor through the feed.
Overall it's a great piece of security for peace of mind.

This is my second Skybell. I replaced the older version that was round. Installed very easily, 20 minutes. Even came with a concrete drill bit. Syncing with my Skybell account was easy. What I like about Skybell is they don't charge you a subscription fee, like others do. The only complaint I have is I had to drill new holes. I wish they would have this item align with standard doorbell screws so if you move, you can easily swap it out. This will require some filler and paint. That is my only complaint. Great picture and video quality.

The doorbell was easy to install. The included instructions were very helpful. We were able to install the Skybell software quickly and the doorbell was up and running within 20 minutes from opening the box. I am able to converse with visitors easily and the volume is enough for the visitor to hear me. The delay through the wifi is minimal. Overall, works as I would expect. The actual doorbell is large enough and has a bright green light on it so people can see it when coming to the door at night.

This is a good doorbell camera. Upon opening the box, I was relieved to find it looks a lot nicer than the stock photos. Not going to lie, the Skybell logo kind of worried me in the stock photos, but it is not really noticeable once its hooked up and on the outside wall.
Video quality is fantastic! I love that unlike competitor doorbells, you need NO subscription - that is awesome. I have occasionally had missed motion alert on my phone, but it usually still has the video recording. Not a huge deal - I expect it will continue to get better with firmware updates.
All in all, a good doorbell. Highly recommended.

In the box is the doorbell, a mini screwdriver, mount bracket and instruction manual.
I was a little skeptical about this product at first because it took a little extra time on my older home to install. Once installed, I also had a difficult time getting the doorbell to sync with the app. I contacted customer service via email and they were extremely helpful and I was able to reset the product and sync with the app. I love being able to use the app on my iPhone and my iPad. When someone presses the doorbell button, the product snaps a photo of the person at the door. The app allows you to speak to the person while they are at your door as well, I did notice a little feedback while using the product in my home but not a dealbreaker, I was literally in the same area as the doorbell. It is also pretty cool to see recordings as well (my daughter got locked out and the product recorded her encounter at the front door.)
The app so far is great. There is an option to add to other integrations like Nest. There is an activity section that will be videos or photos of people that press the doorbell. You are able to save them or you can delete them off.
Overall, set up with the app was a little difficult but definitely not a deal breaker since customer service for the product was great for me. I would highly recommend to friends and family!

Overall: The Skybell hardware is compact and artfully designed, more aesthetic than most. It’s quick to install and easy to use. Video is clear. The app is a little slow and has limited integrations.
The video was very clear in all lighting conditions. It provides a wide 180° view so you can see everyone nearby. Video is available on demand. A short recording will automatically occur when there is motion detected or when the doorbell button is pressed. The motion detection works fairly well. I saw some packages being delivered as well as myself picking them up from the front door. Video sometimes takes a 5-10 seconds to come up in the app. After it appears, streaming is smooth. When live streaming, you can have a conversation with people at the door.
Out-of-the-box, installation was very straightforward. Since I have a non-digital wired doorbell, all I had to do was unscrew the existing doorbell, disconnect the wires, connect the wires to the Skybell mounting plate, screw it down, snap on the Skybell doorbell. The app helps you connect the doorbell to your network. I have a mesh network that operates on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The Skybell will only connect on 2.4Ghz. Even then, the connection was weak relative to other devices such as my phone. However, there was no special set up needed on my network.
The doorbell is only slightly larger than a standard doorbell, but includes a high-resolution camera and status lights. Using the app, you can change the color of the status light. I matched the color to that of my front door. When you press the button it will (optionally) repeat the sound of your interior doorbell to confirm to your visitor that you’ve heard them.
The two issues I have with the doorbell will hopefully be solved over time: 1) there are a few integrations right now. For example, I would like to be able to unlock the door remotely, if I approve of the visitor. It will tie to Kevo, but no other electronic lock. 2) You must use your phone. There’s no web interface for viewing streaming video. A minor tick is there’s no timelapse mode. That would be nice for big snow storms and recording other weather outside your door.
