My first time owning a iPad Air and first time for me to buy a case for it.. I was looking at Apple.com and the price was a lil more then bestbuy.. But the product is from Apple.. One thing that I don't like it get dirty so fast.. But the rest is awesome and for the price and free ship won't complain..

The case protects my iPad, and the auto on/off feature is nice. But the cutting alignment is completely off for the volume buttons and camera - in the pics you can see one volume button is exposed and the other is underneath the cover, on the back the camera is half covered. This not up to Apple's normal quality standards, and unfortunately I got busy and have probably waited too long to return it.

Works just like the previous version do. When in landscape support, iPad Air leans back a little farther than 3rd gen iPad with cover did. Wish it would have been offered in Navy Blue as well.

This case is perfect except for 1 fatal design flaw that renders it useless. For some reason, some Apple engineers decided to go from 4 folds down to 3 and now this case is unusable in the landscape viewing mode. It basically holds the ipad at about 85 degrees (almost straight up), so you can't watch anything on it unless you sit like 4 feet back. Crazy unusable design. Not sure how this ever got past Q/A. Here's a pic of the smart case vs. smart cover. You can easily see how much more upright the case is. It is also very unstable at this crazy upright angle. Returned it after 1 day.

So mom got an iPad air for Christmas last year and finally, we found something that involves technology that she feels comfortable using. We've gone from laptops (2 different styles both too clunky), netbook (smaller size, but just too small), 3 different brands/styles of tablet (too complicated, big, slow for her taste/needs), to iPad 3 I believe ( too heavy/large), and finally have found the perfect fit with the iPad air. Now, the fun part....find a way to PROTECT and SAVE this item from any potential oops moment, which could lead to even the slightest amount of unnecessary stress for her. I don't want the culmination of endless hours of research, scouting, testing, learning, and finally eliminating anymore frustration for both mom and dad, as well as tech support (yours truly) to lay victim to any accident. We bought the "overkill" version (water,dust,drop,fire,ice,explosion,nuclear-proof), this was quite bulky, heavy, and ugly for her, but we at least can say we have it just in case. Then we went with the less-expensive, spinning, bright pleather style(broke quickly). Finally, decided to get the nice, basic, apple brand, magnetic, case. Looked it up on Apple, $50ish...looked on Best Buy and TAAA-DAA, $18ish! Done and done! Long-story short (too late I know), Mom loves the case; its simple, light-weight, easy to use, and fits her perfectly. We apparently needed to remember KISS, keep it simple stupid. Get the case, you won't be sorry!

Perfect fit, high quality leather. Have yet to find a case on the market that feels better or has a better fit and finish. Drawback is high price, and the fact that the triangle fold to hold up the case is still somewhat unstable. And it stands up only in landscape alignment. Still, it is the best fitting case, but you pay a premium to have it. I've looked far and wide and always come right back to paying for what you get. Others are too bulky, too cheap, badly fitted, interfere with camera flash, etc. Only the Apple case negates most of those, but it comes at a high price.

I don't do much with my iPad that require a rugged protector so I have always opted to buy the smart covers just to keep my device clean and to prop it up when I need to. I like that it folds in a clever way to hold my device up so I can watch movies while I work, or I can lay it down and it's propped up just enough that I can type easily. This is a great cover if you are looking for something simple to protect from dust.

Best Smart Cover You will find for the iPad Air

I reviewed the Mini's Smart Cover last year and overall I wasn't too fond of it, the magnets were weak and the colors were blah... The Air's cover is the same design and this year's colors are a lot better. Though Red is still a little "orange-y" for my liking it doesn't look as bad this year against the Space Gray. On the Slate back of the Mini last year I hated it. The magnets on this cover is a LOT stronger... strongest it's ever been on a smart cover I think... you have to really shake it hard to get the cover to come off. The of the cover and the folds are great at this side and really hold up when you're using it as a stand. The Mini's collapsed on me a lot. The Air's cover has not thus far. For value, it is a little bit on the pricey side... though the older covers were 49.99 retail so at least it's cheaper than before. If feel like at 19.99-29.99 is a more fair price for the cover considering the quality. My biggest knock against this cover, as it's been for the last 4 years, is that it can't stand your iPad up in Portrait mode. I recently picked up a full case (called an Origami case) that gives you 4 ways to stand your iPad up, including vertically in Portrait... If it wasn't for the fact that I really dislike back cases I would keep my iPad in it. But I like seeing the metal back of the iPad (protected by a clear skin similar to ZAGG Invishield) so I'm keeping the iPad Air Smart cover and tossing my Origami case in the drawer for that just in case day when I know I'm taking my iPad out to somewhere it's going to get a lot more manhandling. But because nobody else makes a smart cover I am not taking a star off for that. This is truly a 5 star product and the only magnetic case you'll find for your iPad. There are a couple of knock off ones sold from China you can find on ebay but I wouldn't bother getting one of those as they don't have the quality feel as the official Apple Smart Cover.

I am enjoying this smart cover for my I pad air. It has a sleek design that automatically turns the sleep mode on/off when you open/shut the cover. I like the protection it gives without the bulk. I like that it is made with quality leather. I like that it complements the style of the iPad and doesn't distract from it. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the headphone jack hole is too small for my headphone jacks to plug in properly. I have to either remove the case (no thanks) or get different jack plugs or use blue tooth. My previous protection was the smart cover only and it offered no protection for the bank or sides. The back and sides are scratched but hidden in this new cover so all is well. I wore out my smart cover so that is why I purchased this smart case. If I wear this one out I will purchase another one. Like it that much.

Bought this to go along with the iPad Air as a gift and it has worked well. THe blue is nice looking and separates the iPad from all the other black/gray cases, so it stands out w/o being weird looking. Case protect all the iPad which I wanted and this does it well. Recommend this. I wihs other colors were offered as well

-The case is a fantastic red color and I haven't had any problems at all with it fading or getting dirty. -The case is very light and doesn't detract from the iPad's thin frame whatsoever, making it very easy and comfortable to hold. -The folding mechanism, built to stand the iPad up in different orientations, does not work particularly well. If you just need to make the iPad sit up to watch videos it works okay, but it bounces back and forth loosely if you try to use the touch screen and stand simultaneously. So I would definitely recommend this case if you just need a wrap and cover for the iPad, but if you're needing something to use as a stand for it you should probably get something more sturdy.

The Smart Cover from Apple provides nice protection to the screen when it's not in use. It looks good, is easy to attach, using a magnet to do so. It wakes the ipad on open and sleeps it on close. It also acts as a nice stand in landscape mode. The cover is nice for carrying the iPad. It's more lightweight than the Smart Case, not mention half the price. The only thing is that it only protects the screen. Still, it's a good buy if you want a lightweight solution.

The Smart Cover provides great protection of the screen and is super lightweight. It makes me feel better when I put it in a bag as I do not have to worry about my keys or something else sharp harming the glass. I also like the fact that it leaves the back exposed and is not obtrusive as I do not like the feel of cases on my device and prefer to be able to feel the metal and glass. The magnet for aligning to the iPad is really cool as is the screen waking and going to sleep when the Smart Cover is pulled up. The stand works well on a desk or other hard surface, but does not stay up when the iPad is propped up on something soft, making it not ideal for using in bed. Overall, it is a decently inexpensive purchase to ensure peace of mind about the glass, especially if you opt for the red discounted color like I did.

I bought this case after having/using a keyboard case for the past year or so. The keyboard case was very heavy, and I found that I seldom used the keyboard. This new cover is lightweight, attaches easily (magnetically), and turns the iPad on and off when you open or close the cover. Great product!
