Great product overall-- I'd buy again. My father can use it himself since it's simply designed and well labeled, though he complains that there is no volume control. He really enjoys it! The preloaded big band music is not for his generation-- I loaded his own Rock 'n Roll and deleted the preloaded. It's not a great speaker, l but it's good enough. One major downside is that I'm not sure the volume adjusts on my unit-- I followed the instructions and haven't yet made it change. But the volume is ok as is.

This is a great music player for someone with dementia. Easy to turn on and off, and you can load with their favorite music. My mom does not like instrumental music (it’s preloaded with big band tunes), so I deleted them and uploaded songs from her favorite cds. Note if you’re uploading from an Apple product you need to convert mp4 files to mp3, and if you want to delete the preloaded music you need to empty the trash on your Mac after dragging the files to the trash and before disconnecting the music player. I had to search for these tips because they aren’t included with the instructions.

We bought at this for my mother who had already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and then had a stroke on top of that. We added classical music, as that is calming for her. It’s simple to use, and the staff at her nursing home think it’s wonderful. I like that there’s a trick to changing the volume, otherwise we’d constantly be resetting it.

My mother’s 1940’s music (CDs) was easily loaded into this “radio” as she calls it. It is incredibly easy for her to use. She just lifts the lid and music begins! There is a large button to change the song if that is what she desires. To stop the music she just puts the lid down. The Simple Music Player has added some spice to my mom’s life!

I got this for my husband in Stage 6 Alzheimers, as a Christmas gift. He loves music. It was easy to download music to it. I went online and found free music MP3 downloads and downloaded them to my computer - then downloaded from my computer to the Music Player. It was very easy to remove the pre recorded music - neither of us was crazy about 40's big band music.

The music player is exactly as advertised. It plays music just by lifting one large lever. It’s perfect for someone who cant remember how or is unable to manipulate normal controls on typical radios, CD players, etc. I bought it for my dad who has dementia and he enjoys it. It’s easy for someone with average technical skill to add or remove music or other mp3 files and adjust the volume.

This is a sturdy, solid music player. easy to use and just as described. It was purchased as a gift for a dementia patient at a skilled nursing facility. The administrator there said she wished she had one for each resident.

My mom loved music but was losing her ability to play her instruments or work a radio or cd player due to Alzheimers. This was PERFECT! I easily uploaded her favorite music and pre-set the volume. The light came back in her eyes when she heard it play. Not only did she enjoy it, but others in her nursing home would come into her room to enjoy the music. HIGHLY recommend.

My bad for not seeing that this only takes MP3 music. What is that? I need to bring it back. My mother would have loved the music but I don’t have MP3 music and I am not going to pay iTunes more money for songs to put on this. Old technology.

Easy use/nice sound, Plan your music loading ahead

My sister bought this for my dad who is in Nursing Home. He's a former Music Teacher. Over all it's a nice music player. The only issue I have with it is the limitations on loading and playing music. I added additional music to the player but it does not allow you to sort the order of songs. While the reasoning for this is that, it's supposed to be better for the Alzheimer's patient who is supposed to get stability for listening to the music in the same order all the time, it does not allow for other users. There are other reasons to be able to order the music playlist. If loaded with enough music for the day, it can be beneficial to have upbeat music during the day and calmer music at night. Also, if you load songs from different artists, it would be helpful to not have all the same songs from the same artist played at the same time. Had I known this before I loaded the music on I could have shuffled the music with a proper playlist. Now I have to clear the drive and reload all the music 1 by 1 in the order we would like. Which is time consuming and tedious. (Player plays in the order that the music is loaded, so if you want to mix in your own music with the pre-loaded you have to delete all and start over) Other than that it seem to work fine. One other caveat: If you unplug it, it starts all over at the beginning of the drive. So if you need to move it for any reason or the power goes out and you've got 100+ songs on it, be prepared to either listen to it all over again, or push the skip button a lot. :-P
