Customers are saying

Customers love the SP680 2.7k Drone's ease of use and camera quality, frequently praising its user-friendly design and decent image capture for the price. However, some users experienced challenges with the drone's wind resistance and stability, particularly in breezy conditions, noting difficulties with control and smooth landings. The drone's lightweight design, while contributing to its affordability, was also cited as a factor affecting its performance in windy environments. Concerns were also raised regarding the responsiveness of the controls and the drone's ability to maintain a stable position.

Let me start by saying that I am a first-time drone owner with 0 experience prior to this purchase. It took me 2 days and a total of about 3 hours before I can say that I felt comfortable controlling the SP680 drone. Landing seems to be the hardest maneuver as it always seems to flip or land awkwardly. The SP680 doesn't seem to hover in place and I couldn't tell if it was the wind or if I needed to adjust the blades using the trim function. Overall the remote does make controlling the SP680 a lot of fun. There is also an app that you can download on your phone (Android/Apple) that allows you to control the drone and view the camera feed. You can also see the battery life on the screen which was very helpful as they only last about 20 minutes each. The app's interface could use an update, but outside of that connecting to the app was easy. The camera is decent for the price and while the specifications list the SP680 as having a 2.7k resolution while recording video, I feel like it is capturing footage in 720p. Granted it clearly says in the manual that this is not intended for professional photography. The SP680 is a ton of fun and not too difficult to learn. While the app and camera quality do hold it back from being great, I highly recommend this to anyone that is wanted to try out drones without breaking the bank.

We hope you could understand that the theory for beginner drones to hover is to hold altitude by its built-in air pressure gauge, which defines the height it hovers, but could not control the direction it moves.
Only drones with a built-in GPS chip can definitely hover without moving because GPS can recognize and define the coordinate by satellite signals.

We suggest that you fly the drone in a no wind or breeze day and open field place where there are no trees/woods around.

    A decent first drone

This is my first drone. Out of the box, the setup was quite fast and simple. It did, however, require quite a bit of time to attach the propeller shield because the screws are so small and hard to see. I first flew the drone without the shields, but because I am a beginner, I crashed often, and the propellers protectors became necessary. The process is to remove the center screw which hods he propeller in place. The drone overall has a slightly flimsy feeling to it, so I was afraid to strip the screws. It took me almost a half hour to install all 4 protectors. You need to protect all the propellers to maintain balance. I read the instructions and they are OK but do not provide what a flyer really needs and that is a “pre-flight checklist” including a listing of the eight different light signals. After trying a few times, I found this drone is very light and easily affected by the ind. I could not fly it in 8 MPH winds without it being seriously affected by the wind . The good thing is that it has three speeds and, once I learned how to use the speed to counter the effect of the wind, I was able a leas to take off, circle and land. I decided to try again on a day with calmer winds. But first, I found several third-party videos on YouTube which demonstrated the flying of this drone. I found them very helpful, and I recommend investing about 2 hours watching these videos before flying this particular drone because of the control options and the placement of those buttons The features include a Take Off/Landing to which the drone responded very well. I was able to fly the drone with the remote, with the app on y phone and with my iPad. One of the nice features is the G-Senor which follows the movement of the iPad, allowing you to pay ore attention to the drone than to the controls. The camera is OK but not for very detailed photograph at the eights which it is capable of flying. IT is good for landscapes or detail is you are able to fly very close to your object. The battery life is as advertised, about 12 minutes. It comes with 2 spare batteries and two chargers. The Wi-Fi range is also about as advertised. There is a warning in the instructions to turn off cellular data to avoid the drone switching by itself and thus disconnecting the Wi-Fi control. I found that it also switched between Wi-Fi networks and found that a bit annoying to have to reconnect. Overall, I am pleased with this as my first drone, and I look forward to learning how to fly it better. If you have a loft of experience with drones, though, this may not be a good choice. I would not also recommend it as a “toy” drone because of the expense and complexity.

    Fun Little Drone!!

I have been thinking about getting into the drone market for a few years now but have not wanted to really commit the money to a high-end drone just to have it sit in my closet. My primary goal for one would be to get the birds eye view on vacation videos, snow days floods ect. BUT I was just not sure how much I would use it. Then the Snaptain 680 came into my life. TO BE CLEAR – this is not a high end 4k ultra smooth drone for professional shooting or high-end vacation videos either (it even says so in the user manual) BUT it is a ton of fun and a really great intro into the drone video world. I got it out of the box and began the assembly. As one would imagine, the 680 is light but feels well built. You have to put on the landing gear and the blade protectors and be careful of the TINY screws… if they hit carpet…. Good luck finding them. They are the size of eye glass screws! I would recommend assembling on a hard surface with very good lighting. Once I got it assembled, I got the quick set up guide. Well the quick set up… was not that for me…to be fair it could be that I generally fast glance any instructions and just start doing the things…but I could not get the app to pair with the drone at first. Now, to pair with the controller (the black box with the joysticks) was super easy. Takes literally a second and so I ran outside and started just flying the drone without the app and phone for video. It flew great! I had a hard landing once or twice and it had no problems. Very responsive and I really like the one touch take off and landing button. It has a flip 360 button and you can fine tune the trim ect. It comes with three batteries which means you can be recharging as you are flying with the other battery! Each battery gets pretty close to 15 minutes of flight time stated. Just like other RC flight toys they get less responsive as you get closer to the 15 minute time. The controller starts beeping when it’s time to land to recharge. Nice touch! After playing with the flight controls I went back to try to get the video and cell phone control working. Here is how… 1. Turn on the drone 2. Go to you cell phone wifi and wait for the Snaptain to show up in the Wifi options. This can take a few seconds to almost a minute. Be patient. When it shows up select and wait for it to connect to the drone. 3. Open up the Snaptain app and select 680 then press the start button at the bottom of the app. This takes you to the launch page where you can either control the drone from your cell phone by selecting the “on” button which is on the right side of the screen or leave that off and go to the remote RC box. It has a phone clip you can clip onto the black RC box to use your phone as a viewer for the camera. The phone clip is the black clamp thing in the box. Slides onto the controller and you pinch your cell phone in the clamp. 4. If using the black RC box (which I recommend) then sync that up by pressing the left stick forward then backwards then pressing both sticks down to the right at a 45 degree angle and you are ready! The instructions were not very clear and you have to agree to all the things like letting Snaptain join your network (your phone) and allowing cellular data. But once you get it figured out I have been able to sync easily every time. I did not like using my cell phone to control the drone it’s just too slow and not responsive. That could be my phone case or cell provider. The RC box just works best. Now for the quality of the video and pics…it’s OK. This drone is ENTRY Level and for an entry level drone I think it’s ok. If you really want a high quality video production level… this is not your drone. If you want to test the water or just play around and just have fun…This is a great option. It also has some really cool features like circle around gesture pics…they worked ok. Don’t see myself utilizing them that much though. Headless mode keeps it moving forward no matter what orientation your drone is in and one touch return is also nice on an entry level drone. The App has a VR option on it as well if you wanted to get some VR googles. I plan to play around with my oculus to see if I can connect that way. Overall great little toy…emphasis on the “toy”. Fun to fly and see the house from a high up view. It has for sure whet my appetite for a higher end drone. I don’t see myself taking this on a hike or vacation to get the aerial shots but great to play around the house. Would be awesome for teens and teens at heart!

Instructions are farely easy to understand. Make sure you charge your battery a full day so that you have enough time to enjoy the drone. In fact charge all 3. You won’t be stuck, ever! Having a backup is necessary especially in heavy winds. I don’t like how cheap the plastic propellers are and the brackets that are the protection is even more flimsy. The 2 legs that attach at the bottom aren’t very strong either. Getting a proper landing is a little difficult. The controller is really nice and really setup for beginners with different flight modes. The phone bracket will fit any phone case or not which I really like. The controller fits good in your hands. The stabilization mode isn’t 4k quality so don’t expect high performing video or sound. Overall this is a great beginners drone. Definitely worth trying and getting used to flying. The fact that it comes with extra propellers and 3 batteries sets it apart from other drones. Add a little more strength to the plastic pieces and it’s 4.5 stars.

Nice drone for the price, for a beginner. Very user friendly, TKes pretty good pics. Only bad thing is, it’s very light so even with a small breeze it gets taken.

Assembly of the SP680 took me about 15 minutes. I attached the two-leg landing gear and the four prop guards. I used the provided small Phillipsscrew driver and screws and tightened the landing gear and prop guards. The kit includes a phone clip to put on the controller, which I will not use since I will only use the app to operate the drone. You can take a screenshot of your screen while using the app control, but if you use a MicroSD card and the photo button on the control, you will get a better image quality. The total weight of the drone (with a battery) is 153 grams (5.4 oz). The device works with the provided remote or the Snaptain Nova app. I only use the app since I don’t like wasting AA batteries when not necessary. The remote requires 4x1.5V AA batteries. Connecting a drone to the app is as simple as clicking a device to wifi. You first turn on the drone, turn on the wifi on your device, locate the drone wifi (note that the drone has its wifi signal) something named like “Snaptain-Sp680-...”, open the Snaptain Nova app, select aircraft (model #), and press start button to connect to your drone. When all the lights are flashing on the drone, it requires calibration or is low in battery. For calibration, move both control sticks simultaneously to the lower right 45-degree angle and hold for about 2-3 seconds. A great feature for beginners is the Take-off ad landing button; the drone lands/takes off with one click. After a week of using this drone, I feel confident about doing many different maneuvers and flying it through obstacles. The 2.7K UHD camera does an excellent job with image quality. Overall, this is a great drone; it has excellent image quality, is easy to control, and is fun to use.

This is is my first and this does take some patience to work. I suggest going by the user manual over the quick start. You do need 4 AA batteries, it would be nice if the battery for the drone was the same for the remote. I did need to charge the drone batteries. After you attach the pieces. You need to pair the remote and the drone. There is an app for the phone. To pair you join the drone Wi-Fi and sync the app. To use the drone. There is a takeoff button. The drone is super light so watch out for wind. This does not have GPS so it can be hard to track. My take off was not gentile it zoomed up. The landing was the same for me. I think the camera is very good. I did lose the drone my first couple of times but thankfully the camera came in helpful. There is a memory card slot to record. The drone and battery are super lightweight, so the drone flight time is limited. You do need to check the regulations for drones in your area and for sure do not use this near an airport. Overall for my first I think this is good. Just watch out.

Consider this more Toy than high-quality Drone

I’ve long desired owning a drone, but could not justify a $1000 or $1500 model. This SP680 4-axis drone is the least expensive one I’ve found, so I jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately my personal experience did not match my admittedly lofty expectations. Assembly They should include a jewelers loupe to aid in seeing the tiny miniature screws and where they go in, instead needing wife / partner to hold phone at 2x magnification. The same screws are used to assemble the two legs on the bottom, and the 4 rotor blades. Once I got a couple of them installed, it did eventually go much more smoothly. Snaptain does thoughtfully provide a QR code to scan that is intended to provide video instructions, however it only took me to a generic page showing their various products, but not the assembly assistance I sought. I tried to call customer support but received an odd message that Subscriber phone is off, before being disconnected. The reason was bc the box states 3 batteries, but I initially only found 2 in the box. After more thorough examination I realized my mistake that the 3rd was inside the body already, though I found it difficult to open the battery door and felt I was about to break the plastic. Not having flown one before I was forced to invest the time to read the manual, which fortunately they provide a quick start one-page sheet as well as more detailed instruction manual. Let me disclaim that contrary to my review, much of my perception is based on this initial difficulty. Once assembled with 3 charged batteries I did find the product very cool once the rotors spun up and I achieved lift off. Afraid to lose it outside I turned off ceiling fans and experimented in the house, much to the chagrin of our pets. It wasn’t long before I crashed it into a wall and bent one of the blades. Fortunately they provide extras. My first foray outdoors had a better outcome, however the drone does seem to have a mind of its own. Even after a couple dozen attempts I do not feel confident enough that it won’t drift away, nearly over a privacy fence and into a poison ivy jungle I’d never have recovered. The take off and landing button seemed slow to respond, so I was happy to have crash landed that first flight and moved to a safer more open front yard for further testing. There is a controlled return home via same path which I’d hoped would safely bring it back to me, however the drone seemingly accelerated away from me. I suggest you have a helper to chase down once it’s over the road. If I could get it to hover in place I’d feel safe about slight movements, but once it gains some altitude a light breeze will take it away. Headless mode seemingly took some confusion out of navigating, and keeping track of the red forward and green rear lights. I do like the thing, but have to invest more time and experimentation to properly control this device. App -clip numbers do not stay static, and renumber after each new video , newest being 1 of 8, and oldest being 8 of 8. -should be able to more quickly delete clips that do not capture intended targets -drone control via app was intermittent for me Pros + landing skids snap-in + rotor protectors snap-in + magnetized screwdriver + App video monitoring + inexpensive Cons -assembly far more involved than plug and play -remote control 4 AA not included -tiny parts, miniature screws difficult for me to assemble -they should include a jewelers loupe -battery compartment door feels very fragile -support number in China says subscriber phone is off Conclusion I know the price is very tempting, but honestly suggest future drone owners invest a bit more for something more substantial and easier to control. Recommend soft pass on this one.

Overall, a great beginner's drone. Easy to get used to the controls and video. Also a functionality for it do to '1 button' flips. Wind does become a factor, so pretty much means youd only be using outside on days when there is pretty much none. Comes with 3 battery packs, so the fun can keep going! Camera is pretty decent quality too.

Good value in a drone. Easy to set up and use. Just starting out with drones so this is a good drone for beginners. Having three rechargeable batteries for the drone makes for a good amount of time in flying in one session. Have to be careful though in this drone does not have GPS so you can't go too far or you could loose it.

Bought this as a gift to replace a different drone that was lost. This one is much easier to fly and control compared to other brand (will not mention). Controls seem pretty sturdy for an entry level drone. picture quality is okay. Batteries last about 20 minutes each, unless you are constantly trying to use the auto flip button. Easy to use for younger pilots.

Great beginner drone for my 13 year old son. Easy to maneuver and hooks up easily to a phone to help capture videos and pictures. Not bad for a beginner but a gust of wind came, blew it out of range and it was gone. We ended up buying a more expensive one and absolutely love it. If on a budget and can’t afford a dji definitely a good drone just be careful with the range and the wind.
