This was a good movie an updated snowwhite version

This and Mirror Mirror came out the same year. Mirror Mirror's a very lighthearted romp on the whole Snow White deal; this one takes it more seriously. It's a medieval fantasy with Snow White, the Huntsman, the Evil Queen woven in (you also see references to the apple, the mirror, so on). While the endeavor's not amazing, it's still good. Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen truly shines; Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman is good; Kristen Stewart as Snow White is alright. The movie's good and getting it in multiple formats is even better. I give the movie 3.5 stars, and 0.5 for the combo and extras...for the price, it's worth it.

This movie is a good one...love every second of it

Charlize Theron plays Queen Ravenna who seizes control of her kingdom by marrying and killing its rightful ruler, Snow White's father. In order to maintain her youth she needs the life force of young maidens to maintain her youth and beauty. However, to attain true immortality she must consume the heart of Snow White. After Snow White flees the palace, Ravenna dispatches a Huntsman to capture her and return her to the palace. In the meantime, Snow White, the Huntsman and a rebel army join together to return and destroy the evil queen once and for all.

This film is not bad, but it just doesn't do enough to be considered great. It is one of those films that after watching it you think to yourself "if __ was improved" or "it had potential to be great". I thought all of the performances by the actors/actresses were good, except for Stewart, the lead in the film. It has almost become cliche to criticize Stewart's performances in films, but her performance in this film really takes you out of moments in the film. It is pretty much her giving her Twilight performance in this film, including the awful facial expressions. I never believed Stewart's transition in the film from a scarred girl to a warrior. I don't know if I blame the screenplay or the performance. The screenplay is "ok", but it is nothing special. The screenplay has flaws, but the flaws were never enough to get me to really criticize it while watching the film. The screenplay is really a "by the book", generic screenplay. The best thing about the film is that visually it is gorgeous. The special effects are good. I have heard some people rag on the special effects, specifically the CGI, but I did not think it was bad at all. The set designs are amazing. The costumes are outstanding. There is some cinematography in the film I really enjoyed. Overall, even with the flaws, I would recommend this film. This film isn't overly violent, filled with lots of cursing, or has moments of hyper-sexuality; so I think it would be appropriate to show children 6-7 or older this film. It is one of those films that is a good popcorn flick to watch with the family, but it is one you will forget about. I think it has a replay value mainly for how visually gorgeous it is.

I had not seen this movie in the theater but knew that a sequel was coming that would again star Chris Helmsley and Charlize Theron. Although the ending is predictable given that it is based on a fairy tale, there were very good special effects and the story was expanded to include how the beautiful but evil witch queen came to power. What she needs from Snow White is also revealed. Although quite handsome, Chris Helmsley as the Huntsman is not Prince Charming, but does assist Snow White in reclaiming her kingdom.

This was sold as another re telling of the old story...... What a movie!!! Action, suspense, sorrow, pain, love, destiny, & humor Amazing special effects, and quite a different way in which to incorporate old fable into today's technology The bluray version with all the extras were worth the couple $$ more. The extended version was the best Feel sorry for those whom didn't opt for the the extras package Will definitely watch many times

I had high hopes for this film and generally think Kristen Stewart does a great job as an actor, which is why I found it disappointing that she was given such a poor script to work with here. It's an alright film if there's nothing else to watch, and the 4K presentation is stunning in it's clarity, but the movie could have been so much more with a proper story that better serves the legend.
