This is the 3rd SodaStream machine I have owned. The first one lasted 10 years. The 2nd one is a different model and only uses the smaller capacity carbonators. Fine, but needs replacement cartridges quicker.
I bought this one to perfectly replace my original unit. Apparently the factory changed the way they make them about a year ago. It now takes about 10 or so pumps to get the same amount of carbonation that 7 used to (and it still advertises about 7). So I am needing to use more at a higher expense. I am disappointed, although I am happy to still own the machine. It will probably cost me more to drink my soda, but I am saving the environment.

I tried a carbonater decades ago and at that time they just didn't work well. Decided to give it another go after recently reading positive reviews. This product works very well and totally satisfies my thirst for carbonated water. It is very easy to use and water retains its carbonation. Not sure why the carbonating bottles have a 3-year expiration date on them, but maybe they will develop permanent ones.

Different Models - They All Make Soda!

We have a SodaStream at home and wanted to get one for our friend to use for their home and at parties. This model was different than the one we have but is very simple to use and works just as well. It comes with plastic cap bottles (the higher models come with metal capped bottles) and some sample syrups and a starter tank of gas. It is a model where the bottle screws in to the base unit rather than locking in otherwise and you simply push on the button at the top to add bubbles. Definitely worth the price if you want sparkling water or sodas at home on demand.

The directions were straight-forward, and the unpacking, cleaning, assembling and soda-making took about ten minutes. I'm probably not going to use the free mix sampler, but I'm happy with the carbonated water available whenever I want.

I bought this mainly because I like sparkling water but don't trust bottlers to give really purified clean water so I put in purified water into the system this way I make sure that I am drinking something healthy. Kids love the flavors too.

After purchasing and carrying (I live in NYC) tens if not hundreds of soda water bottles home, I decided to purchase a soda stream. This was one of the best decisions to make. This is one of the items that you think you don't need, but once you have it, you don't know what you would do without it. By using it, you're saving money on soda water and saving time by not having to haul bottles home.
Additionally, the soda water is just as good if not better than what you buy at the store. You can also add flavors to make low calorie drinks. If you drink sodas or soda water, then this item is for you.

This is quite easy to use, saves a lot of money even over Costco cases of sparkling water--and not having to throw those bottles away is great. Love the fact you can do liter or half-liter bottles.

Use it everyday. Way cheaper then buying soda from the store and better for you too because it doesn't contain all the sugars

Overall this product saves you money and you don't have to worry about returning bottles or cans to the store. The flavors are good and affordable. It's also easy enough for kids to use. When your co2 tank runs out, you can return it back to the store you purchased it and get a good discount on a full one.

My daughter-in-law's favorite drink is cranberry juice mixed half-and-half with club soda. She lamented that soda in the 2 L bottle went flat by the time she'd used half of it, but smaller bottles were more expensive and generated more plastic waste. I gave her a SodaStream for Christmas and the whole family loves it. We all enjoyed fresh home-made soda at our New Years Day gathering.

After mulling over it for some time I finally decided to purchase the SodaStream starter kit over a month ago, and so far I've enjoyed this product. It's quite simple to set up and use, and it doesn't take up significant space in the kitchen. It comes with a 1L bottle, a CO2 tank, and 6 sample flavors, my favorites being orange, root beer, and energy drink. A second bottle would've been convenient in order to have another flavor available in the fridge. My only gripe is that it may not seem like a money saver initially but it will be in the long run.

Love the soda stream. It satisfies my need for soda. I've dramatically cut down on soda, and been drinking a lot of water that is just carbonated. For first time users, it is kinda scary, the unit will make this loud cranking noise when the water is nicely carbonated. Pouring the water into a cup will make it loose more of its carbonation though.

After getting tired of storing bottles to be returned to the store for the nickel deposit, I bought the sodastream and absolutely love it. I've only used it for seltzer. Works great and easy to use. Cost wise, the sodastream will take a little while to break even (likely around 6 months). No more flat seltzer.

I wasn't sure about this product, but it intreagued me and delivered on all fronts. If you ever liked a drink but thought, its too fizzy or, this would be good carbinated - this is perfect for you. It's also a cheaper way to have soda vs cans and you get to customize flavors and strength of sweetness. Further, the mixes have little/0 cal's.

I had been wanting one of these machines for over 10 years, back when they used to only be sold in marine stores around here and were called Soda Club. I never wanted to spend the money on one though. Well, Best Buy had them on sale for $60, so I figured they weren't going to get any cheaper than that. The machine itself works great, you can get the water as carbonated as you want it, and it stays carbonated for at least all the next day (maybe longer, but I always drink it all by the next day).
This is the value machine. I was looking at the 3 they had at Best Buy, I thought this one was nicer than the one they had for $20 more. The only problem is sometimes it's a pain to screw the bottles on when you carbonate them. This problem is fixed with the machine that's $129.99 in the store, because the bottle just snaps on, but I didn't think it was worth an extra $50.
The only complaint I have is that ALL the flavors had half sugar, half sucralose in them. I hate diet drinks. They didn't make them without the sucralose. Finally, they came out with some flavors they call their natural line, and they're made with all sugar, and they taste much better than the normal flavors, but they only have a few flavors in natural. Plus they charge an extra $2 for them, which is kind of annoying.

My friends originally had this, and when I got to use it at their place, I was sold.
I like the fact that it is easy to use and you can make pop pretty easily. I like that you can choose whichever flavor you want and how strong you want the flavor/carbonation to be. I also like how you can see that almost all of your pop is just water, and that there are less unhealthy chemicals/ingredients in the syrup. I don't drink much pop, so for me this is a great alternative to conventional brands' drinks.
The only complaints I have are that you can only make it 1 Liter at a Time and the sample flavors they give you are not enough to have full flavor in 1 liter.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase

My parents have the $400 bourgeois version of the soda streatm, and while I enjoy sparking water, I never quite understood what all the fuss was about. I was shocked by the quality and low sugar content of the flavors and can really say I like them most.

Three stars for the product but five stars for the Best Buy sales associate averages out to the four-star review. I went to purchase this starter for my wife for Christmas, and was considering adding a second 60-liter carbonator. When I picked that up, I noticed it was heavier feeling than the entire starter kit, which made me believe the kit did not have a carbonator in it. I expressed this concern to the sales associate, who proceeded to open EVERY kit on the shelves and none of them had carbonators. Thankfully, he gave me a refill tank free with my purchase of the kit, so everything worked out. Which is great because my wife loves this product--she doesn't make soda, she just makes her own seltzer water. But she does it daily.

This is a V-Day present for hubby. No more lugging 6 pack, 12 pack ... . We don't bother with CRV returns so no more paying for 5 cent per unit on those cans and bottles! Best Buy matches Amazon on a lower price which is nice!
Love the unit - convenient access to fizz water, fits nice on counter BUT the carbonator exchange is $$ hence i took away one star. the new package did come with a $5 coupon for the first carbonator exchange which is a nice little surprise.
We are in CA so surrounded by stores who do the exchange. I would call around the big stores: Bed Bath Beyond, Walmart, Target etc to make sure they carry the exchange otherwise, it would be a pain to own one and hassle to do exchange.
