Customers are satisfied with the Five High-Fidelity Wireless Speaker's exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass. Many also appreciate the speaker's relatively quick setup and the powerful volume it produces, even at lower settings. However, some customers find the price to be a significant drawback, and a few have experienced connectivity issues or found the app less than intuitive. The lack of Bluetooth connectivity was also a recurring concern.

I bought this “Open Box.” The speaker works, but it was listed as Condition: Excellent, which means the package is in perfect condition with everything included. The box arrived in terrible condition. Some items inside the box were incomplete, and I had to reset the speaker to manufacture.

The Sonos Five is their top of the line speaker. Whats better than a single speaker? A pair. The stereo pair is amazing, but is also fine as a single speaker. Sound is different for everyone. You may not appreciate the five as much as say the new Era 300 depnding on your ears and music preferences. Or you may hot even be able to hear the difference. I have both, in pairs. To me, the difference is like comparing where you are hearing the music. The Five sounds like music in a theatre with wood and stone. The Era 300 sounds like music in a cafe with glass and maybe marble. They're both amzing but the spatial audio of the 300s really give the five a run for its money. For the lows, bass, I would say the Five wins. As with most things Sonos, you have to have the volume turned up to 45-50 to say now thats a good speaker. Of course anything over 60 your neighbor might be knocking on the wall if you happen to share a wall.
The five is older tech, no doubt, so no bluetooth audio. The Sonos app is getting better with age but some services like Youtube Music is still a bit painful to find what you are wanting to hear. Other music services each have pluses and minuses while accessed via Sonos controller. HD music or lossless sounds amazing on either model.
The reason i now have a pair of Sonos Fives is because i have opted to use the Era 300s as surrounds with the Arc sound bar on the tv. What you dont discover til after purchase is that once in this setup, the bluetooth direct stream from device is now inoperable. And using the 300s as a stero pair is also no longer an option unless you ungroup your surround setup and reconfigure back to a pair. Not impossible but time consuming whenever you want to play music the old fashion way in stero. So Sonos got more money from me just because of my need for simplicity.
Could you save money and just do a couple Era 300s and be satified with your purchase? Absolutely. The Fives might be more appealing with their square appearance and 3.5mm aux input. Are other speakers better than Sonos? Yes. It's more about the ecosystem. Once you buy into it, you just keep expanding.

I'm a total music addict, and let me tell you, this speaker is on a whole other level. It can even outperform some car audio setups, believe it or not! I actually have two of them and I'm absolutely obsessed with the Sonos brand because of it. The sound is so rich and the bass is just incredible...yes, please! The only downside is the connectivity. You have to use the Sonos app (which isn't great) or have another Sonos speaker with Google/Alexa integration to get the best experience. Apart from that, it's definitely worth buying, no doubt about it!

Pros: The sound from this speaker is phenomenal and the build quality is what you would expect from a speaker at this price point. It has a good range of volume and can fill your house with music without worrying about the crackling sound that less well made speakers do. Cons: the only thing I didn’t like about this speaker was that It cannot be connected to a tv via the bluetooth, even if your tv is bluetooth compatible. With that in mind, if youre just wanting something that produces great sound and are music focused, then this speaker is well worth it.

For the size, this is an awesome speaker. It has great clarity, really good kids and deep bass for a speaker this size. It really fills a room. I liked it so much I purchased a second speaker for pairing. Integration is seamless with other Sonos speakers like roam or move to create 360 degrees of sound. The bad part, high price tag. And every time you move it, needs to be tuned. Definitely not meant for constant moving around the house.
All In all. A great speaker.

The Sonos speaker delivers impressive sound quality with deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs, making it perfect for music lovers. Its seamless integration with streaming services and smart home systems like Alexa and Google Assistant adds convenience. The sleek design fits any room, and the multi-room capability enhances the listening experience throughout your home. While it’s on the pricier side, the sound performance and smart features make it a worthwhile investment for audiophiles and tech enthusiasts.

Well-worth, iPhone-like “S” upgrade for those new to Sonos.
I had the opportunity to try a Sonos certified, Refurbished Play:5 Gen 2 (2015) from Best Buy before opting for this newer Five (2020). I had to return for Play:5 for reasons to follow—so bear with me here.
Was it sounding dramatically different?
- After being broken-in, bottom line is, not really. It’s the same full and rich sound as Play:5 gen 2. But if you’re new to Sonos and intend to use this for music (emphasis on music), pick the Five over Play:5.
- What’s the point of this Five then? Visual upgrade?
The new matte finish in white is gorgeous. You NEED to see it in person for yourself. These photos do not do it any justice. BUT where the newer Five shines is the connectivity and internals. After trying this new Five, Play:5 started to show it’s age: longer song load/connect times, random Wi-Fi dropping and resetting-to-new which after internet research do plague Play:5s (I experienced this just few days in with Play:5, and even after my troubleshooting I had to return it). No hiccups like this with my new Five which makes music listening more enjoyable. The new Five is (relatively) fast and if you’re new to Sonos, save yourself and get Five instead.
Again, if you want to enjoy your music (decent for movies, but that’s NOT what it’s for) without the headaches, Five is well worth the jump over Play:5 gen 2.
PS: My notes for those new to Sonos ecosystem:
- Though not necessary, an optimal spot is still beneficial.
- You need to break it in for a few days.
- Trueplay AND THEN EQ to taste.
- With the new Sonos S2 app, you CANNOT stereo pair Five (2020 gen 3) with a Play:5 (2015, gen 2). You can however group Five/Play:5 in the same “room” but it is NOT the same as a stereo pair. You need a Five-Five to do that.
- For the uninitiated you will need to set up with a preferably iOS smartphone, otherwise focal-point Trueplay will not be available to you. This set up process can get tedious (but doable) to those not versed on smartphone use.

We debated between the 5 and the Move. So glad we got the 5. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but it’s an investment. It’s something we use every single day. It adds to the ambience of the home. Was able to get a discount on an open box one in excellent condition. Had a little trouble with set up but Sonos customer service was awesome. The tech was so helpful and patient with me. I find we use the Sonos station the majority of the time. I just love discovering new music that I likely never would have. The sound is great. Crisp and clear no matter what level volume it’s on. We have it in the living room of our smallish condo and can hear it in all the rooms by adjusting the volume. Have not done auto tune yet. I am someone who is so glad this is wifi and not blue tooth! I hated the music getting interrupted when the cell phone rang with our old bluetooth speaker! ! So nice that we don’t worry about that anymore. The unit looks really nice. And if we ever move to a larger place, we could always get additional Sonos speakers for other rooms. Very pleased so far with the 5 and would recommend if you love music.

I should have bought this speaker a long time ago. I have the Sonos Five set up in my garage so when I’m working out, working on my car, or fiddling around I can listen to more than just nature and cars going by. It was simple to set up via WiFi after downloading the app. Since it’s setup over WiFi, if you get a phone call your music keeps playing. The only thing is that you can’t seem to start your music selection from the Apple Music app if you’re already on a phone call when trying to connect. I think you can do this however through the Sonos App. Either way, this is a great speaker. It’s plenty loud at half volume and the bass is pretty impressive, especially after playing with the EQ. I do plan on adding an actual subwoofer once I decide if it’s worth paying $700 for the Sonos Amp to connect the Five and sub together. Oh, and according the Sonos, you can necessarily just go and get another brand’s Amp to use with it. It has to be theirs, which is kind of lame cause I don’t use my speaker THAT much to justify dishing out $700 just for the Amp, not including another $200 for a decent sub. But at the end of the day, the Sonos Five is excellent. I plan on buying another Sonos speaker for my back patio. Sonos makes great speakers!

I mainly use them for surround sound for movies, you here some much more than before. Top Gun is a great example, Awesome. The wife enjoys listening to all types of music and she is very satisfied. Very crisp and clear, base is great. We've had it up loud for long periods of time and they still work and sound the same as when we 1st got them. This is our 2nd set of play 5s, we did have one stop connecting to pair up for surround sound. We did buy the 4yr protection plan, definitely worth the extra money. We were able to exchange both old play 5s, for the play 5s for the cost of another 4 year protection plan(was optional to have to buy it again(but again worth it, especially considering how expensive they are)). Only down side is the interface on the app to control them when trying to trouble shoot connecting issues(with the old play 5s), could be more user friendly. I would give the play 5 a 4.75 overall, so I rounded up to 5.

I think the Arc might sound a tiny bit better but I also have the Sub attached to that one. So hard to say. They both sound twice as good together - if that's possible. They both sound beyond amazing. Very 3D high resolution immersive sound when you sit between the Arc, their best Sub and the Sonos 5. I also run 17 Alexas as my whole-house-poor-man's Sonos system. It's not quite as nice. The Sonos 5 makes the Alexa Studio look small.

I purchased 2 Sonos Five speakers and the mini sub to use in my office. All I can say is the sound is so crisp and sharp. The base produced is perfect - very rich but not over powering. I have heard more detail in the music that wasn't audible before on my my other speakers. A bit pricy but you won't regret it. You can turn it up as loud as you like and the music remains pristine. The Sonos App was a bit of a learning curve for me but now with my Apple Music library and SirusXM all added to the app I'm very happy with the system. You'll hear details you've never heard before.

I recently purchased the Sonos 5 from Best Buy and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. This speaker offers an outstanding high-fidelity sound that truly elevates the audio experience in my home. The clarity and depth of sound that the Sonos 5 produces are simply unmatched. Whether it’s the subtle notes in a classical piece or the robust bass in a rock song, the Sonos 5 handles it all with flawless precision.
What makes the Sonos 5 even more appealing is its sleek design and ease of use. It integrates seamlessly with my other smart home devices, making it incredibly convenient to use. The setup was straightforward, and I was able to enjoy immersive sound in no time. Additionally, the build quality is excellent, ensuring that this speaker will be a part of my home for a long time.
For anyone looking for a speaker that offers superior sound quality, I highly recommend the Sonos 5. It’s a worthwhile investment for any music lover who values rich, detailed audio. Thanks to Best Buy for the quick delivery and great service. This purchase has definitely exceeded my expectations and earned a well-deserved five stars!

Excellent sounding WiFi speaker. Cystal clear sound even if you crank it up to full volume. Louder than you would ever need in most cases. This is not the speaker for you if looking to use bluetooth to request music from Alexa or Google. I use the Sonos app on my Ipad for Amazon music, Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn & Sonos Radio. You can control volume, balance, bass & treble from the app, or you can control volume or pause from the buttons on speaker. It does not have a power button so never turns off unless you unplug from electrical outlet. Can't imagine you can find another speaker this size that sounds any better.

Upgraded from a Samsung Q90r sound bar and was worried it was a potential downgrade as this is a 5.1 when the Samsung is a 7.1 but I paired my arc with a gen 3 sub and two Sonos fives as my rears and holy cow I’m absolutely blown away! Samsung who? The sound that these components put out bare absolutely incredible. The amount of bass. 10/10 would recommend. The ease of setting up everything in the app is insanely simple and fast. This is an incredible system and can’t wait for future products as I can confidently say I’ll be a Sonos guy for life.

This is an outstanding speaker! This is my first Sonos speaker and it has impressed me and my guests. The bass is just right and the loudness is great. I like the fact that it’s easy to use. I use to have a surround sound system that the wife would not use because of all the buttons she had to press. Now she walks in the house, opens the SONOS App and starts playing music. Yes that simple! Best part is if I’m hooked up to it and I need to run an errand I just leave and the SONOS speaker keeps on playing as if I was there. No need to have someone else connect because I’m leaving or because I’m too far for the Bluetooth. Would recommend this speaker for anyone looking for great sound.
