I purchased the sound bar and sub a few months back and wanted to round out my system with the addition of the Play 1. I am very impressed by the overall sound quality and experience that you get when you have these all in one room. You do get a true surround sound quality. I have even moved the Play 1 upstairs to the masterbed room to use the wireless capabilities and really enjoy the sound and conveinience of being able to listen to your music/playlists wherever you like along with the ability to group or separate the units via my IPhone App. The App is a great feature that gives you control of where and how you want to deliver your sound. I am planning on purchasing a separate Play 1 for the master bedroom as I don't want to have to move the current one from room to room. The Sonos system, while being pricey, really puts out great sound quality and worth the cost!

If you are thinking about a excellent quality, with features including wireless capabilities, various app support, multi-room functionality; this is the speaker which would tick most of them. Very intuitive and easy to use.

This speaker is great. It is small and fills a large room. I have it in my living room and fills my entire first floor. Great for playing background music for company. Its nice to be able to change music on your phone. Great sound and easy to use.

I’ve been looking for a wireless speaker that would let the nuances of music shine through. I’ve tried smaller Bluetooth speakers and a corded speaker, all of which left something to be desired. I received this Sonos for Christmas and I cannot recommend it enough. The music comes through crystal clear and I can hear the nuances of the music. It’s easy to pick out the individual instruments and catch the subtle background sounds. The sound just fills the room. The app is easy to use. I like this so much, I’m planning on getting another one for another room. I really like that I can have music on and still take a call on my cell phone without interrupting the music. I like the idea of being able to have different songs on in different rooms too, all from my phone.

I'm using these as surround-sound speakers in a setup that includes a PlayBar and Sub. I didn't think they'd make much difference to the sound we were already getting in a weirdly shaped room, but they definitely have made an impact. Pros: Good surround sound, easy setup, small footprint. Cons: My dog now freaks out at every explosion and rainstorm on TV, even when I have it turned down.

Great sound - better than Play3 - in a moisture resistant small package. If I were building my Sonos system today, I'd us these everywhere instead of the larger and more than expensive units.

I was really surprised by my Sonos Play 1 speaker. The sound quality is good and the speaker was easy to setup. The great thing with Sonos is that it can be used as a multi-zone system. You can set things up such that each speaker can play different music. We originally purchased one speaker, but have since added another along with a Sonos Connect so that we can use Sonos as a source for our receiver, which leads to one negative comment - the cost of the Connect devices; those are just too expensive. However, overall the system is pretty awesome and can be controlled from your phone and streamed from somewhere else, such as your own NAS (network attached storage) device.

Spectacular sound in a small box. I will never go back to Bose again. Can't say enough good about the sound quality, the size, and the durability (we actually have them outside under a covered patio). Steep price, but really adds to our house.

We purchased 3 Sonos speakers and went back the same day to purchase 3 more. We placed the small speaker under the deck next to the hot tub and the sound is amazing. They are easy to set up and small enough to fit anywhere. We highly recommend.

Let me start off by saying I have had my doubts about Sonos ever since they introduced their first network speaker. At the time, I thought that Bluetooth speakers would be the future as you could just take the speaker to any room you wanted. I didn't see the convenience in buying a speaker and having it sit there waiting for you to use it. But Sonos released speaker after speaker and update after update. Still, when the time came to buy a network speaker, I went with the Bose SoundTouch 10. It was the same price as the Play:1, sounds better, is about the same size, and Bose promised that they would add more music services (I use Google Music All Access and Apple Music) to their SoundTouch speakers. Fast forward a year later and Bose added Amazon music and Deezer while Sonos added more than a dozen music services and continues to add more. I sold my SoundTouch and invested in the Sonos Play:1, I definitely won't be going back to Bose. The Play:1 is extremely easy to setup, all I had to do was plug the speaker in, download the Sonos app, push two buttons at the same time on the speaker, and I was all set to go. I ended up plugging the speaker directly into one of my Wi-Fi stations. I have Google Wi-Fi and didn't want to slow the network down by having a 2.4GHz 802.11g device on it. I really wish Sonos would update their speakers to at least 2.4GHz 802.11n. It's ridiculous that a network device, in 2017, doesn't have 2.4GHz 802.11n let alone 802.11ac. But this can be overcome by plugging the speaker directly into your Wi-Fi router. It will then broadcast a Sonos Boost signal that all other Sonos speakers can connect to without slowing down your main Wi-Fi. The lack of more advanced Wi-Fi is one reason why I took one star off of my rating. The other is audio quality. Don't get me wrong, the audio quality for this is pretty good. It really is a small speaker and can really crank things out. It's a lot better than the built-in speakers with Google Home or Amazon Echo units. But, when compared to the SoundTouch 10, it lacks bass and the highs can be a bit harsh at times. But those are my only complaints. Sonos makes things dead simple with their app and there are tons of services they work with. I was able to add my Google Music and Apple Music accounts without issues. My wife was even able to add her Google Music and Apple Music accounts so that we can switch between the two from within the Sonos app. It's a great feature and means that you aren't tied to one account per service (especially since my wife and I listen to different music). The Sonos Play:1 is a great introduction to network speakers. It's dead simple to setup, offers good (but not great) room filling sound quality for its size, and odds are high it will work with your music service. I recommend either plugging at least one of these into your Wi-Fi router (especially if you have Google Wi-Fi as there are known issues when having Sonos speakers wirelessly connect to Google's mesh network) or buying a Sonos Boost accessory. Doing so will give you a large Sonos network all throughout your house allowing you to connect multiple speakers. I currently have three Play:1 speakers and a Playbase all connected together. I can play the same thing (even TV audio) across all of them or play different content on each one. Sonos did a great job making diminutive hardware that blends in (unless you get the white speaker). This is an easy recommendation for anyone who either wants to expand their Sonos network but doesn't need a larger speaker or they want to buy their first network speaker. Just be warned: these are addictive. It's easy to buy one after the other filling your whole house with audio.

First, do not expect the Play:1 to have comparable sound quality to it's larger (and pricier) brethren. It's not a fair comparison and you will be disappointed. Second, if you're an audiophile, the Play:1 will not meet your expectations so don't expect them to be something they can't. That said, I got a pair of Play:1 speakers for my living room. It's a large room but the pair easily carry the room for what I want and need. The mid and high ranges are really good and although they are small, they have decent enough bass for general listening levels, but with higher volumes the bass gets mushy. This is fine for me since my rocking out is now limited to my car, by myself... The sound is surprisingly good for a small unit, even with more complex and subtle material. I would expect a single Play:1 would be decent in a smaller room but think for a larger room, you should consider a pair or if you need better sound quality go up to a Play:5. Even though I find the units to be attractive, they do keep a low profile and are very inconspicuous in the room. The set up is typically easy, two minutes to fully paired and playing. It helps that my bridge and application were already set up, but add three minutes if this is your first Sonos component. The applications still leave a lot to be desired, but once you're used to the quirks and numerous clicks required to actually play music, you probably won't object so much, the versatility and convenience will more than make up for it. Sonos is a great system and the Play:1 is a great addition to the model line. I have a Play:5, Play:3 and now a pair of Play:1s, and I love them.

Went to visit a family member who had a whole house system and we loved it. Bought the play 1 for Christmas and we use it all the time. Love to stream music from our PCs. Little pricey so we will build up to a whole house system.

I bought a Boost, a Connect & two Play:1 speakers a few weeks ago. Setup was dead simple (a couple of minutes per device) and Sonos performance has been excellent. I've extended the usefulness of my old school stereo equipment. I'm still tweaking Play:1 speaker placement but sound is great for such small speakers. My house is not wireless-friendly, but I've experienced no drop outs to date. Boost is hard-wired to a switch on ground floor in center of house, Connect and speakers are at far ends, through thick stone walls. Local NAS-based music and internet radio stream flawlessly - however be aware BBC has changed streaming format and currently is buggy (see Sonos support pages). We plan to add to this system incrementally. So far, a great purchase - listening to MORE music.

When I was looking at the $69 wireless speakers, Michael in the store asked what I wanted them for. I told him I wanted one for me to listen to my 40's music in my bedroom & bathroom while dressing and that I was giving the other to my "30 something" year old daughter to listen to in her 750 sq foot apartment. He said, "Then you are looking at the wrong thing! Come over here & look at the Sonos!" I had never heard of Sonos, but I did go look. I have not regretted spending the extra qimes the price, they are a million times better in sound than the ones I had in my hands!! I have a really expensive brand of radio at my office and the SONOS sound far exceeds the one in the office!! I would highly recommend them to EVERYONE!! My daughter LOVES hers too!! Well worth the money!
