This portable speaker system is great for parties since it's very loud and has LED lighting which looks cool in the background. You can connect via Bluetooth which makes it easier to pick songs or switch music from your cell phone or other BT enabled device. The LED lights synchronize to the bass of the music pretty well and there are a lot of options for the types of "light shows." Only negative I can say is its large size and weight. The name of the product makes it seem very portable but it's somewhat cumbersome to move around and I wouldn't bring this to someone else's house for a party (or similar situation). You will definitely need a car to move the stereo somewhere farther than a block... As for the price, it may seem expensive at first but for the sound quality and other positives I mentioned it's great. For comparison, the Jambox Big is $299.99 but is definitely not as loud and does not have a similar sound quality. It may be a lot more portable but overall price:feature ratio is subpar.

I am glad that we purchased this speaker. It was a great purchase. I was initially overwhelmed with anxiety after paying $300 for it. (Yes, I'm the frugal one)My husband was so bent on getting it n. He blasted it in the local store which is how he sold me. It puts out great sound. We have hosted a few outdoor parties with it. The sound quality doesn't seem to change much when you switch to vertical. But it is powerful and the light effects are cool. It's a great conversation piece and you can connect wirelessly to it with a breeze. The NFC option on my phone required me to download an app but the app is actually convenient for me to connect to other bluetooth devices that I use. The only complaint I would have is that if we wanted to take it to the park or something would have to have an outlet to plug it into. I even use it in a dim room with some meditation music and let the lights set mood. I would definitely recommend this to a friend as I already have and would purchase it again, anxiety still included. (but only because I'm a cheapskate)

WOW this speaker rocks.Some reviews complained of no bass at low volume.A lot of that has to do with the music source,music format and if a equalizer is used.I had no problem coaxing bass out at any volume level.Im not real sure about the 420 watt output rating,I think sony throttles the amp down at high volume settings.But it still shakes the walls if you want it to.Great speaker for a home based unit or outdoor BBQ.I can't think of many occasions that more than half volume was needed.Not if you still wanted to carry on a conversation.Its portable but it is huge,So clear out a large space and party on.The light effects are awesome and adds to the whole experience.Kind of like watching a good bonfire,It draws you in.YES I would definitely recommend this to anyone.The bass thumps and the mids and highs are very clean and clear.

big sound, lots of power, has tons of features like usb and coax, lights are cool too, it is easy to carry with the handle, i use it outside, inside, parties, it is in all in one, my cousin even used it for his dj gear to play music through.

Bought this to provide music for a baby shower. It's powerful enough to cover a small hall or gymnasium; or backyard (though not water proof, so be careful). Sound and bass are nice and a good value for the price. LED is a great feature and plays well with certain music as it follows the beat. Bluetooth was easy enough to connect to phone and ipod and also has a jack input. Radio is an additional feature that I did not see on other similar systems. Easy to transport and not too heavy or bulky to move around. Has to be connected to an outlet, but it's understandable for the output it provides. Though, it's advertised for apple docking, connecting via Bluetooth or jack makes it versatile to use with other brands.

I've been using this sound system for about a month now, and I have to say that it is great. The sound is very loud to sustain the music in a large room with a lot of chatter. It is definitely meant to be a party system. The lights are nice, and they can sync up with the music if you use the USB connection and an iDevice. It has RCA connectors on the backside, so with the right adapter one can use any audio source (including a DJ mixer/controller) to provide the music. It also has Bluetooth, but the music is not as loud as if one was using a wired connection. It has a couple of DJ effects, but they are cheesy. Note that this system is not meant to be entirely portable, since it is quite big. It can still fit in a vehicle trunk or backseat, but definitely not be carrying around. Overall, I highly recommend this system. Amazing sound, loud and a great set of features. Sony has done it again.

I was looking for an outdoor wireless speaker for a party we would have at home, found this Sony speaker, compared vs. other brands and options, this is best value for money. Great sound, easy to set-up and to pair with iphone, iphone and other devices. Very cool color changing lights is a nice plus.

I'm not really sure why these aren't flying off the shelf. Bluetooth is easy to connect. It has an ipod dock. And even auxiliary hard wired input. Reasons to love it: -Very loud and very clear sound -Bass boost can be turned on or off -Can be placed horizontal or vertical ( there is a button which changes the way the sound is delivered and it makes a big difference. There's also a padded, spring loaded arm to securely hold in your apple device if you have it vertical) -pretty lights to make you go oohhh. Or just turn them off. -plus the standard array of audio features including a radio The only down side is that there's no option to use batteries, but there's no affordable way to do that for this much power. I guess it's kind of heavy too, but the handle is more than sturdy enough and built right in. Now I have to finish the darn "fitness cave" for my wife since I gave her this for christmas!

usually my reviews are bad but at least im honest, heres a good one. the sony "portable"? this thing is not portable at all but it is definitely a great upgrade from the 'Xplod' if anybody remembers it. they removed the tape and cd but that's ok because everyone should have an iPhone anyway but im not biased. I had the galaxy 3, 4 & 5 and I hated them. speaking of iphones, this boombox is integrated with nfc which worked in the store but idk how to use it, its just a fancy Bluetooth but it has auxiliary too. the charge plug adapter thing is for the new apple lineup and a plastic flipdown holds your device in place (very smart). the handles make it easy to carry but it is heavy. the lights are cool but only if its pitch black. sound? very good for the price. I got this for $299.00 (don't pay a dime more) Good luck everyone!!!

I went into Best Buy looking for a party speaker something that has awesome sound and of course bass and I ran into this and I instantly fell in love with it! I enjoyed the bass and sound. I will definitely recommend this to others! I'm the life of the party and this speaker is the speaker for me and others to enjoy! Price was good! Good job Sony!

I got the Sony RDHGTK37IP Portable Party System with Bluetooth and NFC Technology from Technology Galaxy one day before the Estimated Delivery date . I give 5 stars to the Seller for prompt service and excellent item. This machine is Incredible by the type of sounds that can come out of it. It produces loud and undistorted music, which rocks my living room and shakes the floor. I am very impressed. The bass is deep and powerful. Bluetooth was easy to pair with my ipod,Ipad or Iphone 4S. After the pairing phase was complete, I didn't need to plug any of these devices into the system anymore to play my music. In effect, the Blootooth feature is so great that I can stay 10 feet away from this powerful sounds machine with my Ipod,Ipad or Iphone 4S in my hand and have it play any song from my ipod, Ipad or Iphone 4S.I connect either of my apple devices to the Sony RDHGTK37IP only when the one I am using to produce the music has a low battery. Then, I can alternatively switch to the remote control to play my music while the device playing is simultaneously charging. The remote control works perfectly and all the features on the system are accessible on it as well.. This is a clear party sound machine with beautiful interchanging lights and nice features. Great Portable Party System that I strongly recommend.....this is a real Sony 2nd Review: I wanted to take my Sony RDHGTK37IP to a July 4th BBQ and could not find any battery compartment on the system. When I called Sony, I was told that for such a powerful medium HIFI with 420 watts we can't expect batteries as they wouldn't last. Their response made sense to me ......and I am still very happy with my RDHGTK37IP.

Absolutely love this party speaker sound system! Very easy to connect to my iPhone via Bluetooth. Sound quality does go in and out if I am more than 30 ft away, not sure how they can advertise the Bluetooth works 100ft away. We use this outside on our patio, couldn't be happier with this purchase. I recommended this system to my brother in law and he bought it since he was so impressed with the quality audio.

This thing is awesome. Blue tooth connects in seconds and sounds great, doesn't break during songs. Bass is strong, plays loud indoors or out. I took this to a bachelor party and half the people there said they wanted one... Its fun with the lights it plays. I use it every day!

Bought this to use in my personal gym and shop. I needed something that will fill a good size room (1900 sq') and still be portable to move it from shop to gym. This thing puts out great sound and has a large Bluetooth coverage. The lights are cool too, but you can also turn them off if you want. I wanted something with the sound of a big system that could be easily moved from place to place and this is perfect. Great sound with good power to push it, can be used horizontally or vertically, cool lights, great Bluetooth coverage.

Really really love this speaker. Gets pretty loud, love the led lights, Bluetooth works just great (I go downstairs and still works), and it's portable I bit heavy for me but I can still move it around, also HAS GREAT BASS!!! Would have given it 5 stars if it had an android dock.

I purchased this for my 12 old year son. I wanted something user friendly, Bluetooth for his ipod, something with a lot of bass because he wanted to "boom out" without spending a lot of money. We both love it. Sound quality is good and now my son "booms out" whenever he wants.

This system has a great sound. I use it for outdoor events, parties, gaming or just chilling in my room. I find the sound better if set up vertical in a corner. Deep bass, good mids, and highs. Bluetooth works perfect.

I purchased several semi-portable sound systems .. much to my dismay they didn't sound good in open environments. Nor did they do well at home either.. but then I purchased this little guy intending on giving it as a Christmas gift .. but long story short .. I had to get me one ! The sound is awesome ! It's easy to use and it's FUN ... I do wish the dock was android .. but with blue tooth and other inputs it will hook to ANYTHING! I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER ! it's actually got me contemplating the purchase of the big muteki shake 99 .. I think if this is 420 watts. . That 4800 would be astounding! It would make my neighborhood a better place .. Even the neighbors would listen to good music .... EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T WANT TOOOOO! LOL..

I love these speakers. I bought two of them when they were on sale. I use them for DJing. The leds that light up the speakers work well for when I DJ. They also react to the beat. The sound quality and bass is really good. Another feature that is nice, is that you can dock an Iphone or Ipod that has the Lightning adapter. The speakers also have Bluetooth and an RCA input, so you can hook up computers or older audio components.
