a hole in the screen

This TV is great except one thing (a hole or a chip in the screen) - more on that below.
It has ample inputs for HDMI x 4 and USB x 3 ports. I like clarity of 4K and HDR. The TV is light enough for one person to carry and move around. The remote is light but feels a little cheaply made. But it is not an issue for me since I’ll be using Harmony remote to control all my devices. Physical setup was easy. But registering or setting it up with your Google account takes a bit of time. Setting are extensive too. Took a while for me to get 4K from my Xbox One S. But that’s ok. I like learning new things and playing around with them.
The screen is semi-glossy. Not a fan of it but I can overlook it. But my TV came with a tiny hole in the screen out of the box. That tiny hole is about half an inch above the bottom border, slightly on the right side above the SONY logo. The size of the tiny hole is about 0.1 cm in diameter. It is small but very noticeable when the TV is on.
I went to customer service at Best Buy and the guy tried to scratch it with his nail making the hole slightly bigger. He tried to wipe it clean with the screen cleaner too. After he realized that none of those fixed it, he told me that there wasn’t anything that could be done to fix it since it had been more than a couple of days after I picked it up. I didn’t buy the protection plan because none of the other products I purchased previously from Best Buy needed it. Since I didn’t have protection plan, he recommended me to contact Sony to see if they could do anything.
I contacted Sony afterwards. The lady on the phone said because it was a physical damage, the warranty is voided. I needed to have some technician evaluate the issue. She gave me a list of cities to go to for evaluation but none of them were proximity to San Francisco or Daly City. I am not planning to travel to other cities.
I went back to Best Buy to talk to a supervisor. He said that if it was physical damage, I needed to come in within 7 days with the box and all the packaging to see proof that the issue was from the factory default or from shipment. Unfortunately, it had been about a month and I didn’t have the box or packaging anymore. So I am stuck with the TV with the hole in screen. It really is annoying.
Lesson learned: If you notice some physical damage, go into BB immediately within 7 days. Oh, and I learned this from the supervisor. I can’t seem to find that policy anywhere on the BB site.
Would I recommend this TV? Yes, but make sure you play around with (or investigate) the TV as soon as you receive it to make sure everything looks and works fine.
Am I happy with my purchase experience? Definitely NOOO!

I have had Sony TVs in the past and this is my second flat screen in the home. The improvement in quality over the past several years is remarkable. The color is natural-looking and just what I wanted. Easy to set up and lightweight. Decided to wait to purchase the sound bar and glad I did, since it became evident I didn't need it for the use and size of the room. Will buy again.

I bought an open box, there was screw missing for the stand. The tv it self was awesome the colors are good no problem connecting to the internet, but there is only one glitch connecting with a Samsung phone for the mirror aspect it would not connect 80% of the time. I have direct tv shows on 4K movies color is very vivid.

I love that you can sinc your Google account it came with the most popular apps! It was easy to get started. If you are just starting to make your house a smart home it works with Google Nest & the Home Mini, even though it came with the voice remote control.

I got this tv in 2018, it is now 2021 and it won’t load any apps. I cleared the cash and deleted the data for the apps. I uninstalled and reinstalled them. Nothing just spins. If I do get it to load the app it won’t play the movie. The only way I can get this tv to work is if I start it from my phone and cast it to the tv.
I factory reset the tv and singed in to all the apps again and still won’t load. Don’t buy this tv!!!! And of course it’s out of warranty.

I have two other Sony 4K sets that I like very much. This one has a lot of similarities to those, which is very good. One similarity, however, that I do not like is the price. For what this TV delivers, I feel that it warrants a lower price point than where Sony has it.
Picture quality is very good, even with zero adjustments to the settings. Sound is acceptable (which is about the best you can get from the built-in speakers on TV's these days). The remote is exactly the same as my other two sets, so it's very simple for me to move TV-to-TV without any issues. There are a few built-in apps that are important and useful to me, and they work well.
The stand, while stylish, does not work well if you're trying to place a device directly under the TV. You will need to use a piece of furniture with a cut-out for devices like DVD players or cable/satellite boxes.
Although it's quite a bit more expensive than the sets that are operated with the Roku interface, it's worth the extra cost to me to get the Android interface and apps as well as the dimming control for backlighting on this set (zone dimming).

Android based OS for the TV. Was able to pair and setup pretty easily with my tablet. Great picture quality. Set up with my home audio system - so I'm not using the built-in speakers. Using the Wired Ethernet for streaming, but the built in apps were able to sync up with my accounts and work just fine. Setting up with DirecTV and AppleTV remote Control functions for use with the Sony remote was easy and a nice feature to have.
But here's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
The stand seems a little flimsy (in my opinion.) It's a plastic stand with just a little metal supports to add some rigidity Would have liked to have seen a solid center post stand. It seems to want to lean back a little with this setup.
The main system settings on the TV's OS... When you get to the 'settings' menu - you'd expect to have "Settings" option first in the menu, yet you have to scroll down through all the other installed apps just to get to the SYSTEM SETTINGS menu. Actually had to google search on where it was.
4K HDMI input. One of the main reasons I bought this was to start using the 4K Apple TV and XBox options, and BluRay. While the specs (on BestBuy's website) shows that all four HDMI's are HDCP 2.2 enabled, only two of of the four HDMI are 4k Enabled. And those two are ones the side of the TV, and not in the back. Rather than being able to hide the HDMI connections discreetly - you seen them sticking out and hanging off the side. Also - the 4K options are disabled by default in the settings. You have to turn them on in order to get your 4K devices to work problem to take advantage of the screen quality.
Other than that - Very satisfied with this TV.

I was looking for a 45-50 inch TV to fit a particular spot. I focused on the top brands with up to date technology and features which in my opinion are, in order, Samsung, Sony, and LG. And while I am willing to pay for quality and performance, I also get a kick our of finding a great TB for a great price.
I took about an hour comparing specs, technology and, image clarity, and of course price. WHile I was very willing to pay 7, 8 or up to $900 to get current technology and top performance, I was most satisfied to find this particluar TV on bit a sale and ectra markdown that day for Around $450. I walked out of there feeling pretty smart...LOL!
If you can find a great deal as I did then go for it. I have bought some very expensive TV's the past 15 years or so (one over $10,000) but this is as good a picture one could reasonably hope for. Easy as pie to set up and I like the built-in stand that's a pretty cool and heavy duty design versus those with small feet at each end. This stand affords you the ability to place the TV atop a smaller foortprint if needed.
And oh that price!!!!!!!

Sony has always made the best TV's and this new 4K model is no exception. One caveat is that Sony devices are not always the most user friendly on the market but once they are set up properly they are the best . It will take you sometime to set this up correctly, experimenting with which functions will give you the best picture but the most important thing is to make sure the HDR is turned on. HDR is far more important then 4K in terms of what it can do for your picture and does is not automatic when the TV is turned on. You have to go into the menu under settings and turn it on then choose which HDR function looks best otherwise your picture will be little better then a non-4K TV.

This is the tv I ended up with after actually having purchased and returned another 4K tv. This tv has enough hdmi ports (4) for my needs. It also has a very good picture and one thing that is very important is that the picture looks good even while viewing from an angle not just straight on to the screen. That was the deal breaker with the tv I returned. The picture looked washed out when viewing from an angle. This tv has decent sound but I do use a sound bar for my audio. I like that this tv has Bluetooth as well as smart tv capabilities. I am totally satisfied with this purchase. The only thing better would be an oled smart tv but the price is considerably more.
