Big move watcher not much cable tv. I was concerned about burn-in but realized wi th my tv habits this shouldn't be a problem. This was part of a home on wheels (RV) AV overhaul. Installed on a motorized lift combined with 5.1.2 surround system. Also uses very little power which is great when you are boondocking. I've read that sony and lg use the same display but the frame on the sony is thinner. The contrast is quite impressive! First movie watched was Interstellar and Holy darkness- I can never go back!

Image quality is the best, really easy to use, 5 months after I bought it the tv started glitching contacted Sony support services and they upgraded to the next level up still covered the 7 months warranty that the other one had left, So I got a newer one for the same price. if you’re are thinking to buy a good tv this sony is the one.

Easy setup, beautiful picture and the speaker system is great. Replaced the 55 inch HD TV that came with my 5th wheel camper, it's picture was good however the sound was extremely twangy and required it to be set at +70 to hear it. That is the main reason for replacing it.

We had a Sony X900E. It wouldn’t turn on so I had to grab a new television quickly during these times where we are staying at home. I’ve always wanted to get an OLED, but wasn’t sure the higher price was worth it. I was wrong. The picture is perfect. Blacks are perfect & there is no blooming That you get with a LED TV (even with dimming zones). With the X1 ultimate processing chip from Sony, cable TV that is 1080i looks like 4K. The colors are vibrant & it has a superior picture. The sound is also excellent if you don’t have it connected to an AVR. the speakers are behind the screen & there is a built in sub. This television is a luxury item that has made staying at home a lot more tolerable.

We bought this and had it installed 3 weeks ago, so far we are very happy and pleased with it. We have a large, tall livingroom area so we are thinking about adding a sounds bar to project the sound farther without having to crank up the volume.

This TV has been outstanding. Had it for over a year now, and it’s stunningly beautiful. The images on this OLED are simply stellar. I won’t pretend to be someone who knows everything about the finer details of TVs, so I would just say go to the store and compare this to whatever other TV you’re cross shopping. From my subjective standpoint, I found the Sony OLED to be the most rich and captivating picture. It’s been great for gaming — I’m more into high resolution, over high frame rate, but this TV manages 60 frames seamlessly; if you’re looking for the 120 FPS capable TV, check out the Sony X-900 series TV. I just personally prefer deeper colors and nicer all around image quality over frame rate. Movies? Breathtaking. If you own any 4K UHD movies on a physical disc, and have a capable player, you’ll be wowed by how good movies look on this TV. It’s so good, that we ended up purchasing another Sony OLED (65”) for a different room in the house. All in all, I haven’t had any issues with this TV thus far (knock on wood). For those who do worry about burn-in, this TV does use some kind of software to reduce “burn-in effect”. The only thing I’ve noticed is if I’m sitting on my Xbox home page for example, the tiles for the games and apps will leave a small “afterglow” once you open up a game or a movie and the screen transitions to black. Not to worry though, as it does go away, showing that the software Sony has implemented to reducing the effects of burn-in is actually doing its job. On a scale of 1-10, this TV has been an undeniable 11 for me. We’ve had other 4K TVs in the house before (ranging from Vizio to Samsung), but Sony has always been the best in my experience. I guess that’s a little biased, but like I said, go check the TVs out in person. I promise you will see the difference.

I've been wanting an OLED TV since I first heard of them. They were just priced too high for my needs. I already had a few LED 4K's and an a couple old plasma TV's. OLED was supposed to give you the picture quality of plasma, with the 4K technology that's abundant in LED TV's. My hookup is on a wall above a fireplace. I was hoping to reuse the mount that I had for my LED, but it did not support 300x300. I had to find a new mount that allowed me to tilt the screen slightly down for optimal viewing. Mounting is scary, since you really can't touch the edges of the display without worrying about damaging it. I found a way to use the new mounting bracket as the lift points. This TV is heavier than my LED's, but way lighter than my plasma's. So, make sure you find a mount that can support the weight, if you mount it. Once mounted and hooked up, I immediately noticed the improved picture, vs my LED's. Blacks were as black as a plasma and colors were accurate out of the box. It upconverts 2K to 4K very well, but once I hooked up my UHD player, I was amazed. UHD movies always looked great on my old Samsung LED, but they look phenomenal on this OLED. I really hope the rumblings of manufactures going away from this technology does not come to fruition. Do not hesitate to purchase a Sony OLED if you have the means. You will not regret it!

Great picture but not giving us the new 2019 remote and still running slow clunky 2018 android system seriously Sony!?!? Talk about cheap. I hope LG destroys you in sales with the C9 being the same price and far better. But that crisp Sony image and processing is the only thing going for you. I ended up returning this TV because if you’re going to keep it for a long time you will be frustrated with the remote and OS. However if you do buy this TV it has double the motion handling and triple the picture options of the new A9G. Who in the Sony department thought it would be a good idea to remove all those things on the new models??? FIRE THEM!!!! I hate Sony for ripping those options out of the A9G/950g. You pay a lot more for a lot less. Bad move Sony. Only thing good about the A9G is the X1 ultimate chip is amazing. However you can’t use it because streaming videos with Dolby vision is broken which a lot of streaming now uses. on Sony sets the image is very dark with DV. Blu- rays or gaming is great. I’m sure they’ll fix this in 2020 along with having better motion because the A8G has better motion than the A9G and the 950G. If you care about good motion the A8G or 900f are better. but anyone who bought a Sony TV in 2019 will be left in the dark when Sony comes out in 2020 with better motion and more picture options and hopefully hdmi 2.1. The A8G is a pass. yes the 950g that I have has better contrast and depth than the A8G but the 950g has horrible black levels the 900E didn’t have this issue, what happened to Sony LED tv’s? Compared to the 950g the image of the A8G looks flat. budget TV brands are going to put Sony to shame next year and beyond so get ready to be put in last place. I hope the PS5 saves this company because Sony can make really great products instead of ruining their image with bad motion and horrible blooming TV’s. Samsung’s motion is 100x better it’s an LED tv with black levels close to OLED. Sony can make a great LED Tv but putting 16 local dimming zones in the 950G? Are you serious! I love Sony but if 2020 is like 2019 I’m kicking Sony out and moving to another brand as I’m sure almost everyone else feeling the same. 900E/930E.... LED tvs.. what happened to you Sony?

Wow, what a beautiful TV. I've spent the better half of the day gorging myself on 4k Dolby Vision content with the Sony A8g. The set delivers in every catagory, Blacks, color pallette, picture motion, brightness, build quality and looks. The stand out movie I watched was the newly released Dolby Vision 4k matrix trilogy, what a treat that was. The A8g performed superbly in every area during my viewing, the blacks in this film are numerous and intense mixed with high speed action and sudden bright scene interchanges which were all handled flawlessly. Sony for me have taken the cake for the 2019 line up of new OLED TV's. Great job Sony keep up the good work and keep LG honest.

Bought this to replace my 12+ year old 720p plasma. Beautiful picture, crisp imaging, and ultra-deep black, even in a bright-sunlit room. Looked great, even with the default, out of the box settings. My only gripe is the remote: it should be updated to suit a higher-end TV. Unfortunately, mine had some cosmetic damage on the backside and when I went back to exchange, they were out of 55" units...now I have the same unit, but larger and am extremely happy with it.

For the second time I purchased a Sony OLED 55 inch tv. Loved the first one and after giving it a lot of thought, decided on the second one. Great picture, easy to use, thin screen. The darker colors or the blacks show up very well and it would have been the one to have for certain movies. I watch. A lot of film noir and this tv does it best.

I've been looking to upgrade to 4K for a while. I finally decided to pull the trigger, but ruled out OLEDs based on price. This one was one sale, though, and caught my eye in the store. The picture is incredible, and you can really tell the difference between the OLED and other 4Ks that I've seen (in my opinion at least). I actually did not need to do much tuning to get a great picture--the presets can get you some very good results, really. Sound is better than expected, though I feel like the speakers were stronger in the first few days than they are now...not sure if it's just me, or if they may have faded a bit (if the latter, that's a problem, and I'll be keeping an eye...ear?...on this). Bottom line: amazing picture, easy to use (remote layout is a tad clunky, but it's usable), and well worth the price. I really can't say enough good things about the OLED picture quality. My only regret is perhaps not going with the 65" (though this would've required some rearrangement of my living room, so I'll manage!).

Got this on sale to replace a high end Samsung plasma that started showing vertical lines. Setup was easy and the only thing I changed was the picture settings to vibrant and warm as the init settings looked too blue. I did have to get a new comcast box to handle the 4k on netflicks. The colors just pop on everything and when a movie scene shows black at the start of a movie, the black is so black that you think the TV is off! The menus can be a bit clunky on the UI side but you can get the hang of it after a while.

It's expensive, yes, but the OLED is fantastic. I'm not extremely picky - my old LCD TV was fine for bright colors, but dark scenes now look amazing. Black looks just black - not a blotchy dark charcoal. The Android smart-tv is fine - I'd say slightly inferior to a good Roku, but only slightly (and honestly that's mostly because there are one or two apps I use on Roku that aren't on Android - like The Great Courses app). It's a relief not having to reload apps all the time like I do on a Roku - the TV has much more memory. All in all, if you can afford it, I'd say it's worth the money.

This is my 3rd time trying to post a review on Best Buy. They never post it!! Maybe this time it will work. Purchased TV 2 years ago and love it. Picture quality was fantastic. It was better than being at the game. You wont be disappointed when you get it out of the box and start watching. Fast forward 2 years....screen quality is starting to breakdown and degrade . Anything with reds or yellows in the center of the screen are distorted and looks crappy. Plus I have an imaged burned in the screen. Apparently the only fix is finding another TV that is not working and using its screen. Likely hood of finding the same TV without screen problem is NIL. Talked to best buy and is an apparent known issue with OLED TVs. if i would have bought the 5 year warranty (shame on me) would have been replaced it but at the time it was $500 to purchase it. TV cost $3000 when I purchased it. Reached out to Sony and got the corporate response - “its out of warranty, you will need to contact one of our service providers”. Not sure what I was expecting but maybe a little more sympathy. More upset with myself for expecting the TV quality to last longer in relation the purchase price. Recommend buying warranty. Not a matter if it will break, but when.

I was trying to find a TV for my parents to put over their fireplace mantle, and I have always been confident in Sony TVs. I did my research and tried to find one in budget, with the best picture clarity, and most up to date technology; the Sony A8G was the perfect option! This TV has the richest picture clarity and color! And my parents can’t stop raving about how much they love watching it from any angle. If you need a TV that looks great to watch any movie, sports game, or your favorite TV show, consider this one because you won’t be disappointed.
