I did a ton of research before this purchase...and glad I did! The Sony X950h is a beautiful TV with an amazing picture color and quality (excellent color accuracy right out of the box without having to do any calibration.) it's an excellent TV at this price point, for what you're getting! It has amazing contrast and sound, and is definitely their best 4K LCD TVs; with high peak brightness and impressive color gamut. The enhanced contrast and really slim bezel design provides great viewing from any angle. With sound and picture precisely aligned, you'll hear action from exactly the right place on screen. Though, I would definitely recommend adding a 5.1 soundbar and subwoofer to get the best movie watching experience. The Android TV OS is amazingly easy to use too. And setup was intuitive and a breeze. I definitely recommend this beautiful TV!

This set has the potential to be one of the top sets of the year so far based on picture quality. I came to this set from a LG C9 and there have been much improvements I've noticed coming to the X950H. First, the sharpness of the picture is much better. On the LG, while it generally looked good, textures and edges especially when gaming tended to look a bit smoother than they should. On the X950H, these are pinpoint sharp and I can see all the detail such as the granules on the road in Gran Turismo or the texture of fabric in RE3 remake. Contrast wise, while no LCD tv can stand up to OLEDs black level the X950H isn't caught out at all. There's a bit more shadow detail on offer than with the C9 (which trying to fix without WB controls and just raising black level is not feasible without raising the black level to where it is a bit gray). It also tends to seem a bit more natural as well. The C9 tends to seem a bit more "poppy" with everything super saturated and bright. The Sony looks to reserve the brightness for highlight areas while keeping things such as a night sky dark. This is likely due to the different time mapping implementations but I find the Sony approach to look more natural and pleasing. Going on to the color processing and motion, Sony is top notch at this as well. The Sony's smooth gradation feature is more effective than LG's at smoothing out color banding even at its lowest setting. Motion is also very good on the set with less choppiness or stuttering than the LG C9 even with motionflow turned off or to its lowest setting with X-motion clarity taking that up a notch to a really clean and clear picture. The x wide angle is very good at providing great off axis performance as well, without the huge contrast performance hit of earlier implementations. I also feel that the x wide angle is making the appearance of blooming less perceivable as it is equalizing the black level across the screen. Android TV is much improved over previous implementations (UI is slick and clean and hasn't crashed yet so far). I also love the variety of apps in the play store and the Chromecast built in so I can just cast videos from websites. Android TV to meet is a much better OS than WebOS. It's not all good news though in regards to the sound when connected to a soundbar. When watching through internal tv apps, there seems to be a bit of a delay when starting up a video before the sound comes in so if you pause and resume you may miss the first few seconds. There also appears to be some random 1 sec audio drop outs at times, which I'm not sure if is caused by eARC syncing or not but I'm optimistic it will be fixed in future updates. Overall, so far it seems like a terrific set and while I can't say it will be the best set in 2020, I can say it should definitely be on your list of TV's to look out for.

Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Getting the settings just right to eliminate motion artifacts took a little time but the picture quality is spectacular and honestly rivals many of the OLED screens I've examined for the past couple of years. Anything you've read about Sony TVs' issues with blooming are not evident with this model. I've run it through its paces on several films where blooming might be an issue, like "Gravity", "Interstellar", "The Dark Knight Rises" and others and have seen no blooming or haloing whatsoever. 4k streaming content also looks phenomenal, particularly "Ford vs Ferrari" and much of the 4k HDR content on Netflix and Disney+. An amazing television. Quite happy. Could you tell?

We have had this Sony X950H a week now and we absolutely love this TV. We bought it to replace an older 48" Sony My wife and I are mid-60's casual viewers, we don't watch sports, or do gaming. Unboxing and setup is easy, written directs are poor. Just use common sense and all you'll need is a screwdriver. Took 5 minutes to assemble the legs and mount it on a table top. Its a big tv so measure your table if that's how you plan to use it. We set ours up to view thru our Direct TV box and a 2014 Sony HT CT660 Soundbar. Set up was a breeze, it walks you through nicely. Ok so the first day or two I was leaning toward returning it. Not because of quality, but it seemed too big for our room. Its in a 15x15 sunroom (wall to wall windows and skylights) and we sit 10 ft from the screen. The room is also very bright. (had a hard time watching on old tv during the day) But we are SO glad we waited. Our eyes adjusted and now we just love this TV. The picture is wonderful, there are probably better TV's out there, but at this price range I highly doubt it. I do think if you are sitting less than 10' it might be too big for you, but that's a personal preference. This model also comes in a 55" While the picture is unbelievable, what we really enjoy and appreciate is the seamless and effortless transitions between TV viewing and apps we use. Our old Sony was slow and quirky. I frequently had to refresh the internet connection and had audio issues trying to go between tv and apps. It was a hassle. This TV has none of that. It is fast and flawless. We watch a lot of Disney +, Amazon, and Netflix. One touch of the button you go to your choice. One touch and back to TV. You will need to program the remote properly. The remote took a day or two learn everything. It also works perfectly with the 6 yr old Sony Soundbar. No sound connection issues. I mentioned our bright room. For whatever reason, this TV is much better in the room, Its not without some reflection, but definitely watchable You could not see our old TV on a sunny day. I could go on, but the bottom line is this is a wonderful TV for the majority of people. Sony built a good product here. Like most products these days no written manual is included. There is an on-screen help manual accessed thru the Remote Help button. Its actually pretty good and helped me with a few questions during setup, as opposed to the one on our old tv that was worthless. Two last points regarding the remote. I haven't not been able to configure it to control our Direct Tv box, so I don't know if it can or not. But it really doesn't matter. During setup it paired our Direct TV remote to the TV, the Direct TV box, and Soundbar. So we us the Direct TV remote for everything. We only use the Sony remote for choosing apps. Buy it...you wont be disappointed. Well done Sony, really well done

We replaced our old 65" Sony 850C with the new X950H. Since we have the TV on for a lot of hours, we didn't want to risk burn in with an OLED TV. The picture quality is outstanding. The picture is clear and crisp and bright. The colors are vibrant. Great with 4K content and the upscaling routines in software do a terrific job of making HD content near 4K quality. The only issue I had with the TV is the HDMI cable I was using wasn't sufficient to support the full functionality of the TV. When I set our Apple TV to 4:2:2, the screen turned green! Replaced the cable and a whole slew of advanced options (Dolby Vision and 4:4:4) showed up. And the picture quality was much much much better. The new TV cost about 1/2 what we paid for the 850c five years ago. One heck of an upgrade.

I purchased this Sony after my TV of 5 years started acting up. I originally went into Best Buy looking for the X900H. The associate on the floor suggested this model when I expressed my concerns about its placement in a room with big picture windows and lots of sunlight. It was more than I wanted to spend, but the biggest selling points were the improved picture quality and performance in a bright setting. We are pleased with the performance for both...and will get over the sticker shock. Again this is right for the room that we have it in. We purchased another model to support the gaming that my kids play with their PS5 as this does model not support HDMI 2.1. Added bonus... my wife loves the ability to talk to the TV to watch her shows instead of fiddling with the remote!

TV itself is great, the picture is very good and have had no issues with the quality over the year I've had it. The sound it's the best when mounted on a tv stand, so we do have a soundbar setup, which paired fairly well, there are a few issues there, but it's most likely because it's a Sony TV and a Samsung sound bar (even though the sale's rep said they were 100% compatible). Overally, I'd recommend this tv for a medium size room up to 20x20, the screen does show glare easily though, so do not put it opposite a window or directly under overhead lights.

The picture qqality on this display is fantastic. Great contrast, brightness and color depth. The room I have this TV in is pretty bright, there are large windows directly opposite the screen. I'm happy to say the picture is plenty bright enough and there is barely any reflection from the screen surface. The operating system is responsive although this OS and app ecosystem seems to be a little more buggy than the AppleTV system I was using previously. Still, that is not enough to lower my rating of this television. The remote control is easy to use even if though it still has a numberpad which has no use in todays streaming environment. Audio options are good and the eARC interface makes it easy to plug and play into most audio receivers.

Overall the picture quality on this TV is amazing. Colors are accurate out of the box. Get sufficiently bright while watching HDR contents. Movie watching on the TV is a delight with awesome cinematic picture quality. Been using this mostly for the streaming services. No cable. This TV is best suited for the rooms with biased lighting around the TV. The TV does have some blooming particularly around the subtitles when watched in the pitch dark room. This is definitely not recommended for pitch dark rooms or overly bright rooms. You should probably look for OLED (dark rooms) or QLEDs (bright rooms) if that what is desired.

Loving this TV. Motion is super smooth even without the advanced motion processing on. I like to watch movies and TV the way they were intended to be displayed , so I pretty much turn off all of the post processing features. HDR looks amazing. even though the bightness isn't as high as other, it can can still get blindingly bright . Built in Google TV is nice, though not as good or an experience as my Shield TV pro. To be honest, when I buy an HDTV, I really only want to use it as a monitor. I do have some issues using my Harmony Companion remote with the TV as it seems I am unable to use some of the original remotes functions, but it is nothing I need to use that often. Pros - excellent picture quality for the price - the always on Google Assistant is a nice feature I didint know I wanted. - nice thin bezel - controls my other devices quite well - Many different display modes that you can customize - an all around good looking TV - ability to disable the "power on" light - localized dimming works very well with only a slight halo effect if you turn the brightness up to Max, which I find to be too bright - since it runs Google TV, you can install a hue sync app to match your lights to the TV colors in real time Cons -Does not support 4k 120 fps, but to honest 120fps is really pushing the capabilities of my Xbox Series X so I prefer to play at 60 fps for the performance boost. - you cannot set it to default to eternal audio, so every time you turn it on, you get a popup alerting you to the change (it auto detects). but if you turn of your media device first, the tv will quick switch to internal audio, and start playing sound, which is annoying. - USB ports are always on. I would like to have the ability to set them to turn of with the TV for easier rear Bias lighting. - as usual the built in speakers are sub par, but better than most HD displays I have had. My best advise with this TV and any others. Turn off all the post processing (Smooth Motion, Reality enhancement and others) except for the X-tended Dynamic Range, you will need that for HDR and doesn't seem to have any negative affects on video reproductions. the others look good sometimes, but tend to introduce additional artifacting.

Overall, this is a great TV.. as it should be based on the price and the fact that it is Sony's top non-OLED TV from 2020. Overall, the TV has some great colors and excellent blacks, but there is some noticeable blooming when watching in a dark area. The anti-glare coating and better eARC support pushed this over for me vs. the 900/90 but I would suggest comparing both. I had a 900h before returning it, and I would say that this TV has a better image than that TV did in my opinion.

Went from a 43 inch to a 65 inch and I'am totaly pleased. The X65h is just a superb TV. Colors are fantastic and sound with my Sony sound bar and sub woofer blows my living room away. TV is a little pricey and was dismayed to find out the price dropped $120.00 about a week after I purchased. All in all though a great TV. Sony's got it.

color is true to the eye in the standard mode! The picture it's very detailed and nice. Did not do any calibration for the colors, brightness, etc yet, the pictures its already really good out of box. Sounds with atmos its really good you can feel like the sound is surrounding you, but the downside is the atmos does not work with YouTube and Netflix. ( or maybe there is setting that I didn't know of). It was automatically on when I'm playing PS4. one downside is that the leg for the tv feels a bit weak supporting the tv. you can feel the tv shake if you accidentally move it or trying to plug in a connection. It also slightly leans forward a little bit.

Last TV purchase was 09. Eyeballed my price choices at the store. Samsung Q70 HDR looked good on paper too. Bought the Samsung but after a few days all I kept thinking about was the Sony X950h. Went back to the store 3 days straight to stare at the Sony wall. Returned the Q70T and spent the extra on the X950h and was now truly happy. I really knew I was right only after testing the Dolby Vision version of OUR PLANET on Netflix. The Q70 HDR was like a great PC or gaming monitor where as the Sony X950 Dolby Vision was so much better and smoother with the colors. The Q70 also made the skin tones look like heavy make up. The Sony X950h looks almost as accurate as the movie theaters. This time around I learned color and brightness was what I really wanted. However now I find myself wanting to get the OLED A9H. IT'S SO PRETTY!

Excellent TV picture, great sound and smaller than my old 55 inch Sony Bravia. I can see the picture clearly at an angle to the screen. The color and depth of the picture on the screen are almost as good as the 80" plus screen I saw at the store when I was buying this TV. This one was a whole lot less money. I hope it lasts as long as the old Sony did!

The picture quality of this Sony XBR950 rivals OLED and is much better out of the box than the Samsung 8K. Realistic color, deep blacks, fine detail, beats pretty much anything other than top of the line OLEDs. Comes pre-loaded with plenty of streaming apps and makes it easy to download others. Only downside is that it still doesn't have capability to run Apple TV app. Hopefully that will change soon. Works great for YouTube TV, Prime, and Netflix. When viewed side-by-side with the Samsung 8K, this has much better color and due to Samsung's unnatural colors and brightness, the Sony actually appears to show more fine detail. That sounds impossible with a 4K, but to the naked eye it is absolutely true.

PICTURE (5 stars): Purchased the X950H seven months ago and it has blown me away with its SUPERB picture quality. 4k content can be truly breathtaking. Streaming from Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO is smooth, colorful, bright and very theater-like which is exactly what we wanted. Our room has lots of sunlight but does not wash out the picture as much I thought it would, which is very nice. INTERFACE (5 stars): The OS is quick and easy to use with plenty of convenient shortcuts. The menus are intuitive and much better than many other brands I've seen. The Bluetooth remote is very pleasant to use and hold, super-responsive and it is lightweight. Set up is simple and hassle-free. Sony really knocked it out of the park in these areas. SOUND (3 stars): Most Best Buy reviews mention that they bought, or already had a sound bar and now I understand why. The sound quality on the X950H is very disappointing at low levels. Dialogue can be very difficult to discern, especially if the person has a low voice. It sounds like muffled mumbling so we are forced to turn the volume up to between 30 to 40 to try and hear what was said and when any other action happens we go back down to 20 to 25. We have tried different sound modes and the vocal booster, but they did not help. Considering the cost of the TV, why does it need a soundbar so badly? It only adds insult in injury when I watch my very plain 42" LG, also in a large room, and the voices are very clear.
