I purchased this lens as I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the $2700 on the 70-200 f2.8. While this isn't a cheap lens, compared to the other native Sony options, it's a deal. This lens is incredibly sharp, even wide open at f4. If you know know if you need the f2.8 or not, you probably don't and this lens will do great for you. It's also noticeably lighter than the f2.8 which makes it more reasonable to carry around on hikes and hand hold for awhile. You won't be disappointed in this lens.

I bought this lens to replace the 55-210mm kit lens I had for my Sony a6500 mirrorless camera. Let me say, I am BLOWN AWAY by the sharpness of this lens and how solid it feels. While it does have some weight to it, the constant f/4 aperture is truly amazing. I take lots of photos in a dimly lit hockey rink and compared to the kit lens, this guy does an amazing job. Very pleased with my purchase.
Some example shots are attached. Both photos were shot at 1/800 shutter, f/4 aperture, 3200 ISO on a Sony A6500 at roughly 120mm focal length.

purchased this for shooting boat photography and wildlife. Its much cheaper than the g master and only lose a few stops of light. This lens is super crisp and worth the money. Auto focus is very fast on the a7iii

I purchased this lens and returned it for the F2.8. I am an avg dad looking to photograph the kids and dog, occasional sports. I shot all 3 in full day light as well as close to dusk. I will only comment on full day light performance since going in I know this lens was not adequate for low light conditions. I shot both still and moving action shots at our dog park and sports. The stills are great, although i can still notice some lack of sharpness as you zoom in. The action shots were much less sharp. I did play witht the aperture and shutter speeds to freeze the action, but i was not completely satisfied. Overall i think this is still a great lens for its price. If you are looking to print 5x7s for home, you will get some awesome results. After shooting with the F2.8, I can honestly say that i am satisfied with the detail, sharpness, color. BUT that thing is heavy. This is much better for traveling and shooting during the day. I would not want to take such massive lenses out at night when traveling anyway.

This is very sharp lens with fast and accurate autofocus. The internal zooming makes it a compact combination with an A-series body. It is reasonably light and well balanced.

While it does not focus well in really low light, few lenses do. The sharpness and focus speed are very good. The weight is great for hand holding, stabilization works very well it feels really good on the a6000. My Nikon system cameras and lenses are way heavier and no better quality.

This lens really surpassed my expectations. I was skeptical on buying it at first. I was more curious about how I would be able to use a telephoto lens in the shooting environment that I work in and it was more of a challenge to find a way to mix it in my bag. However, after shooting with it for the first time, I was shocked and it had my attention in a great way. Everything is an extreme close-up with this baby compared to my GM 24 - 105m f4 OSS and my Zeiss 16 - 35m f4 OSS which is actually a very intimate perspective on subjects being photographed. The clarity/sharpness of this lens makes that perspective truly remarkable and I don't see how spending over a $1000 more for the f2.8 could be justified. I highly recommend this lens and challenge you to see how you can put it to use in your bag!

This is my go to zoom lens as I take a ton of pictures of my two boys who play hockey. Hockey rinks are notoriously not the best environment to take action shots since they are deceptively dark. But this lens, despite not being a 2.8 aperture, produces amazing results. Worth the money!

Even with an "old" a6000 body this lens is what I needed and desired. I primarily shoot outdoors so the f4 is much better value for my budget. It is great glass that will hold its value as well. It is light and feels great in the hand, and the quick turn zoom is really nice. Macro extension tubes make this really fun around the yard too!

I bought this lens from BB and it arrived very quickly. I use it with both my a7III and my a6400. I mainly use it for photographing my local MiLB Advanced-A baseball team from behind the outfield. It gives me just enough reach to get into the action with clear photos. When I move closer to home plate it blows me away. I highly recommend this lens to anyone that is looking for a fast lens that performs well in low light, but doesn't want to spend G Master money.

Picked this up for my Sony A6000 APS-C to fit my telephoto needs and it's working really well with my system. No barrel distortion with mine with a few soft edges at 17mm and F4 wide open, but not noticeable if you're not pixel peeping.

Thoroughly checked out the reviews of this lens before I laid down to dollars for it, given that it comes with a hefty price tag. I was definitely not disappointed by the quality. I used it at an air show (fast moving distant objects) and also for close up shots of flowers. Finally used it at a gathering of people and the quality is outstanding. From tack sharp images to beautiful bokeh, it's well worth the investment if you want to take your photography to the next level.

Anxious to purchase this lens seeing that I don’t have a full frame dslr. Works great with with my A6000. Not to heavy of a lens, but heavier then standard kit lens that come with the camera. Not a big deal for me. Can’t wait to get a A7 series to take it to its full potential.
