The picture on this TV makes out other TV unwatchable. So much brighter and sharper. My only wish is that more media was available in 4K.

An “almost perfect’ 75” LCD display

If you’re like me and you’ve been through a few large panel televisions, searching for that nearly perfect multipurpose roon display, SONY has hit home run with the Z9F. HDR performance is outstanding. Color out of the box is as good as I’ve ever seen. The big wins here; 1. 95% elimination of color and gray panel uniformity problems that have plagued LCD technology from the beginning and 2. Wide angle viewing without loss off brightness, contrast and color saturation. Finally an LCD at this size without distracting gray blotches, visible lines from a backlight grid or discoloration especially noticeable during ice and field sports. These issues were never much of a problem for theatrical use but as family room tv for sports, especially on panning shots, ugh. The litmus test is a hockey game. This scores a 10. Bonus points for the internal sound provided. It’s really good. Negatives? 1. Some enthusiasts will be disappointed that SONY hasn’t figured out how to entirely blacken the cinema bars. I DO NOT find it distracting personally. 2. The price. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s worth it but it’s at the edge of affordability. There are some great performing competitors out there having owned a Vizio P75 but no one has solved the uniformity problem until now. There’s a reason SONY has coined MASTER SERIES for the new Z9F 75’ & 65” displays.

    Beautiful Display, Excellent Build Quality

This Z9F wasn't my first choice. I was after the Q80r but with all the ridiculous issues with pricing and availability I opted for this display. I knew sony was excellent and was coming from the still awesome X900E model. I saw the price drop and pulled the trigger. As soon as I began to remove the packaging I noticed that this set wasn't any average set. Wrapped in some weird metal foil rather than the typical thin foam like drop sheet of every other display I've purchased in the past. The build quality is stellar and the entire display back and front present a high end package that was clearly given the extra attention worthy of a Master Series Display. It is a bit thicker due to being an LCD using FALD technology but not an issue in my opinion at all. Very little bezel with no foolish little splashes of artistic nonsense to distract you. Wall mounting as easy as can be with a nice touch in the included bottom wall mount supports that are easy to install and level out the back of the set for the wall mounts brackets. It's a bit heavier than I'd imagined but not overly so. The picture is astonishing. The HDR handling is gorgeous and the non HDR surprisingly has a nice color pop as well. It upscales very well and handles motion extremely well. Overall the display is jaw dropping. I've been more than impressed. Okay so the big detractors from the set coming from all the reviewers out there on YouTube and the web seem to me to have been severally overblown and exaggerated. Blooming? If you really look for it sure, occasionally you'll find an impressively small amount of it particularly during start screens such as a movie you've just started or while certain apps load with a small logo against 75 inches of otherwise black screen or loading some video games with similar startups. If you're looking that hard for a little blooming before the programming you sat down to watch has even begun you may want to attempt to stop being so ridiculous and watch your movie while enjoying your popcorn. Light bleed into the black bars if there are any on the display is also super minimal and only on occasion or in an exceptionally distinct scene just pushing the limits of the software have I noticed any. This all happened while I was looking for any flaws I could find in order to have a bit less of a positive take on this Display. Had I not been looking for it I'd never have seen it. Black levels and contrast are superb to the eye and are stunning during playback regardless of what digital software says or professional complainers say after they see that said software reported back with lower numerical values than expected. I just can't find reason to lend support to the criticism this set recieved in these areas. I've tried believe me. The wide viewing angle hoopla makes no difference to me as I'm a selfish single guy with no appreciable list of viewing companions. I sit directly in front at all times. It does however work pretty well, I've no way to truthfully compare the Sony attempt vs the Samsungs attempt at widening viewing angle but can state that it does do an impressive job in comparison to my X900E. Which itself is an awesome display and compared side by side running the same programming from the same source doesn't fair too bad overall but in specific areas the difference is night and day. That's why my mother is the proud new owner of the X900E her first smart tv she's little to no idea how to use. I digress... Last thing I'd like to impart upon anyone still reading is this. This entire review is written by a die hard long long time Samsung fan who was itching to once again bask in the overblown pop of the grossly over saturated Samsung colors and resume my whole "I only buy samsung" nonsense. I spent weeks trying to find any reason to exchange the Z9F for the Q80R while waiting for its price to come back to the same as the sony or lower as it was during black friday and quite awhile after. When that day came I went to contact BB but ended up resuming my after work gaming session until after store close. I spent almost 2 weeks doing the same and in the end couldn't do it as the Z9F was too refined, preformed so flawlessly was everything I wanted in a new display. Objectively less important point but it is a Sony Master Series display and it is absolutely not only clearly distinct in that aspect it is a lot more than what you or I would be getting from a non flagship Samsung set no matter how you slice it. I felt I'd be downgrading in too many ways. Losing too much simply because I've read that the Samsung had better black levels and a few non essential gaming features. I am happy with my choice even today as the Samsung Q90R has become available at the same price point and is cheaper than the Q80R... go figure. Demand truly dictates the market regardless of it making any sense or not. I would still choose to keep this set as nice as the Q90R is it's not quite in the same league. Sony Z9F is an amazing Display/TV at an exceptional price point. I'd recommend anyone in the market to grab one before they are gone. Edit before posting... I failed to really mention gaming at all which is 70% of my time with the set. Oops. So gaming, indeed this display is fantastic for gaming. No lag, no issues at all and outstanding paired with the Xbox one X playing full 4k HDR games. Truly a gorgeous experience with zero issues to complain about. Even with the picture set to custom rather than gaming and the now available again options in the picture menu at full tilt there is no ill effect upon performance nor picture. Okay that's everything for now. Likely missing much but I'm done. Buy it, enjoy it. Return it if you disagree. What's to lose? Last oops... the remote still sucks pretty bad and is identical to my X900E's remote. That's it and that's my only beef. Sony must have had a collective brain f@rt by including the much maligned remote of lesser displays with the Master Series Display. That or they really think it's amazing idk also don't care. It is completely functional so there is that I suppose.

It took me a long long time to pull the trigger on a new TV. My last set was the revered Pioneer KURO. As such, I was basically obsessed with OLED tvs for some time as deep blacks are important to me. As another reviewer said the TV foil wrap was pretty incredible, show how much Sony cares about this set to ship it with a custom shrink foil wrap... In the end I was still hesitant, but I can share with you that most 'expert' reviewers did their reviews when this set first came out and did not retest or update it. Its a darn shame because some of the top rating sites out there were running some old firmware. I cannot speak to the OS, I am an iOS person and I rock Roku's. I also see a sizeable difference with my Roku ultimate over the Android netflix app. I did not spend more then 5 min. on this because I use the Roku for the family so take this with a grain of salt. The OS seems nice enough, just not using it. If I remember and if sporting events start up again I will repost, I think it will provide an amazing image. Frankly, its beautiful and at the price BB was blowing these out at I could not be happier. If you can find one, get it, its such a bright and vibrant TV, something OLED cannot touch. Oh and thoes black levels... though not inky black, they are great, a sizeable improvement over the KURO and everyone is pleased in the fam. Thank you Sony and please keep up the high end market!

Bought this tv after it came highly recommended from a friend. It doesn't disappoint! While not the perfect tv, it delivers phenomenal picture quality for an lcd set. Colors are dang near perfect out of the box, and after changing some settings I was able to dial it in really good. The x-wide filter definitely delivers as I can be very off angle and still get a great view of everything going on, especially with 75 inches of real estate! It's not gonna give you the perfect black bars like an oled will, so keep that in mind if you are easily distracted by some blooming into those areas. I was able to control bloom to a minimum by backing the gamma down a little, along with adjusting the black level setting. This thing will get amazingly bright though, the biggest thing you will notice over oled. If you're not using it in a real dark room, you won't regret it!

The picture quality of this unit is awesome. I really like that the overall colors displayed are more natural looking than most other tv's today. Many tv's display colors that are not natural looking. We are extremely happy with this purchase. We were originally disappointed with the picture quality at first but found that it was strictly as the result of the default settings on the tv, and once they were changed it was night and day. Why Sony would have a tv like this set for standard deifinition from the factory this day and age is beyond me. If you have this issue check your HDMI input settings...

When this TV went on sale earlier part of this year it was definitely time for me to Upgrade from my Panasonic Plasma I bought back in 2008. I waited and waited with all the advancements because the Plasma was just that good for so many years. With all the OLED's and all the other names they give TV's these days I saw this Master Series and read up on the different Colors and Blacks day and night etc. I have a slightly darker Living room and this TV has brilliant colors day or night and the clarity in this size TV has been stunning. Only bad part of the TV is the Sound, I knew that coming in and buying it up front so I paired this TV with a Sony HTZ9F Soundbar w/Sub definitely made a difference and was worth it considering what you pay for a top of the line TV. Also went with the higher level HDMI Cables to make sure the outputs on my 4K player and Apple TV and Playstation/XBOX were at their peak. No point in getting a higher level TV without matching everything around it. Hopefully this TV will last many years to come. Also I don't use the Chromecast part of the TV I just stick to Apple TV and other APPS inside the devices I pair with it.

This is very likely the finest display that I have owned to-date. The picture quality with films and sports is nothing short of amazing. We can now make out the hockey puck flying around the ice with the restart of the 2020 "COVID" season. The sound is typical Sony (lacking) but I have a surround system with NAD receiver, Bowers and Wilkins speakers and a (wicked good) REL Acoustics sub-woofer from Best Buy as well. I am having an issue with the height of the display feet (the left side is lower than the right but around 1/4+ inches) and Best Buy will do nothing and told me to call Sony. Sony doesn't answer phone calls or respond to email so I've had to improvise with some rubber spacers under the foot itself.

I have been researching 4K TV's since early November. I had my selection narrowed down to a few choices, then this TV had a price drop to put it in line with the ones on my list. I am so glad that I didn't let the online professional reviews put me off of this unit. It has surpassed my expectations, and a great replacement to my Kuro Elite plasma. Colors are fantastic! Up-scaling and motion has been impressive. If you are thinking about buying one, I wouldn't hesitate.

Excellent price on a really great picture. The quality of this set is superior to other TV's in our home for a few reasons, 1st being the others are older, 2nd the others are Samsung who seem to have less realistic picture (cartooning). 3rd, the functions are relatively easy to use and have had great success with compatibility with other household smart devices. The only concern so far has been that it takes on a lot of glare. At night, with lights off, this is a gem.

Great value when your saving $2k off the original price of this Masters Series Z9F. It’s all Sony from the build quality, immersive and natural picture quality, one of the industry’s best processors and full array picture from any angle. Can’t touch anything better for the price. I bought the 75 inch. Bigger is better!! There’s a lot of tech specs to back up the quality of this TV but all you have to do is watch any 4K movie or professionally streamed nature video and you’ll take out your wallet. Very satisfied with this purchase. Better hurry though!!

This is BY FAR the best TV I have ever owned. I honestly find it performs well in light and dark room situations. It has paired with all of my Smart Home assistants (HomeKit and Alexa) making it easy to command it to turn on and off. It also has a hand's free method of controlling it through Google. I love the richness of the color, the sharpness of the image, the processing performance and all of the customization options for both visual and sound. I could not have mad a better choice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the TV! Thank you SONY!

My house has a lot of really big picture windows so I was worried about glare which turned out to be a non issue. I wanted a slightly bigger screen so I upgraded from a Sony 65" 900, which I loved just fine, to the Z9F and I could not be happier. I bought before Super Bowl so I got a great price from Best Buy. I love the Sony brand for TVs. It's all I buy and I have three of them in my business location, too. I own an assisted living facility and the residents have poor hearing and vision, but not with this TV. . The best, the sharpest, like a true motion picture. The Dolby Vision sound is a real plus too. If you're considering, JUST DO IT! you won't regret.

My old Sony was 12 years old the picture was good but not like this newest. If owning. New set is something you are thinking about, don’t be like me, do your research on what set will work for you. My suggestion, buy the largest screen you can afford. I have been watching blue fray movies and I’m totally impress with facial expressions and special effects. Reward yourself or family with a new set and relax with a good movie. I haven’t been to the imdoor movies in 16 years due to young kids on their phones disturbing everyone that paid $16 for a ticket, drink and popcorn. I walked out of the last movie I will every attend and enjoy a nice quiet time at home.

We love this TV! The picture is amazing. The colors are amazing. The TV still even looks great on the wall with the power off. I chose this TV because the black spectrum of OLED models are too dark for my liking with a lot of video game play. Sony Master Series is also awesome because most of not all Hollywood movies are filmed on Sony cameras and this TV displays everything the way it was meant to be seen. Netflix calibrated mode does that for Netflix content also.
