The picture improvement quality is stunning! I was initially interested in another LG til I saw this in person. One of the best TVs I’ve owned all the way back to a Panasonic Plasma. Highly recommend this TV.

Amazing TV!

It was time for an upgrade. This 83" XRA80L is like going from the past straight into the future. I was concerned about watching football and even movies during the day because our family room has a lot of sunshine. No worries at all. Put this puppy on Vivid with brightness 35 out of 50 and contrast 80-90 out of 100, and you might even have to turn down the brightness, especially at night. The sound set on Cinema is the best. I'm not sure why, but it is. It fills the room, and we haven't even got a soundbar yet. The guys at the Kennesaw Outlet were fantastic! We picked up our Open Box, and they loaded it into the Acadia for us. We got it out and set it up on a sturdy coffee table with the included Sony stands. There is no juttering, and the XR chip provides great upscaling. Even DirecTV satellite 1080i looks like 4K. Sony OLED is the way to go. You won't be sorry.

Very easy setup I had hooked up to my new Onkyo TX RZ 50 it corrected me to hooked at right HDMI port to receive arc. 83” OLED has three options to put in on stand It replaced my 65” LG tv with almost the same weight. Only one problem I had with watching the football game it wouldn’t let me remove SAP from Fox during the game. I am sure there is a way to resolve this issue. Other than no problem at all. Love it

A Faithful Sony Customer, Losing Faith

Playing dark games or watching movies, the vertical banding and dirty screen looks like I have windows open behind me. It's in a basement with light controled room. The most annoying part is I have a 77 inch A80J for the past 2 year and the panel is near perfect, except the motherboard just went out and had to be replaced... I have zero idea what is going on with Sony's QC and reliablilty, but its not good. Yes, I understand this is anecdotal, but anecdotally...I am 0 - 4 with Sony and their OLEDs. Hoping the 3rd time is the charm for the A80L, as well as the motherboard replacement for the A80J last more than 2 more years. I will continue to return these defective units until Sony lives up to their prior reputation.

Amazing picture

I debated to just getting the A95L in 77 inch but really wanted the 83. This is my only complaint and some minor banding in the picture which my Sony A8H and Sony A90J do not have.

Now if you love a really bright TV, peak luminance set to high is going to make you very happy. For HDR, you can pull up an HDR video (for ex. in YouTube) and then play around with the peak luminance setting to get what looks best to you. Pixelation & Poor Support

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sony 83" Class BRAVIA XR A80L OLED through Best Buy, where we've always trusted to make our electronics purchases. Unfortunately, the A80L has been an absolute disappointment. When watching bright, saturated scenes – especially whites, light blues, or bright skies – the TV exhibits significant pixelation that is highly distracting. The pixelation is large enough to be bigger than the size of my hand, ruining the viewing experience, especially in wide, bright scenes like clouds or light-colored backgrounds. After noticing the issue, I reached out to Best Buy first. They directed me to Sony since the TV was only a few weeks old and still under the manufacturer's warranty. I submitted photos of the issue, and after reviewing them, Sony's engineers confirmed that the pixelation was "normal" and that there was nothing they could do about it. This response is completely unacceptable for a $5,000+ TV. To be told that something as glaring as palm-sized pixelation is considered "normal" is beyond frustrating. For a TV of this caliber, I expected far better performance, especially from a trusted brand like Sony. Despite multiple attempts for resolution, Sony has been dismissive and unhelpful. We’ve purchased 24+ Sony TVs over our lifetime, always trusting Sony for their quality and reliability. It was always our go-to brand, but after this experience, we will seriously consider other brands moving forward. If you’re thinking about purchasing this model, be prepared for potential pixelation issues and poor support from Sony. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this TV. The picture quality is severely compromised, and Sony's lack of support makes it even worse. Overall, I’m extremely dissatisfied and regret this purchase.

Big screen OLED

Once you get an OLED you can't step down. Infinite contrast and perfect blacks are what you get. This 83" Sony has a fantastic picture and because its a Sony with the new XR chip, you get the best upscaling available for low bitrate content.
