Easy to hook up -Small in size - Allows wifi streaming for Netflix HULU and other apps included with Sony programming. Only issue is there are no current apps for HBO and Showtime go but hopefully they will get those added with a software update.

So good we bought a second player. Easy to set up; great picture; very nice streaming; and even more user friendly to operate than previous models. May even buy a third one!

We've had so many new players that last only 3 to 4 years (and become outdated/no longer update supported) that we only buy refurbished or open box players now. This one replace an Insignia that had a great display and touch interface. This one is more basic in that respect but does play well. The built in browser may be nice to have but is slower to use than advertising would have you believe. The remote has a nice favorite programmable button as well as a Netflix button. I was happy to find the remote synced with our Toshiba tv to power it on/off as this is the first remote to do so. However it was a little disappointing that there are no #'s or channel up/down feature on this remote. Our old players had the buttons but never synced up to the tv. Picture for dvd/bluray/streaming is pretty good. Again functions are pretty good but I miss seeing the status of whats playing etc without an integrated display and sometimes it's not apparent if after pressing the on/off button the player is responding as there is a delay to the singular green dot that lights up or fades off accordingly. We're mainly hoping for reliability on this one and as others have implied the hundreds of available/built in apps are mostly unappealing or poorly functioning- a better web browser interface would be preferable. For the money (about $58 as an open box item) it should be a good value. Note: The previous owners settings were still there, but it was fun to see what total strangers were viewing on Netfix etc.

I purchased this Blu Ray to replace my older Sony Blu Ray. I bought this particular model because the technical support representative from Sony, recommend it based on my preference for a good player that is not expensive. I feel that Sony Blu Rays are high quality. l loved my previous model. Sony Entertainment has an abundant amount of apps. Desirable apps; not a bunch that are subscription services. I particularly wanted to view the free foreign TV channels. My first impression was the size. Wow it is so small! It was easy to set up, accessed the included apps much faster than my older model. My criticisms are the internet interface is still hard to use and will not work on most web pages. The main screen is disappointing. It shows icons that you chose as favoritess that will show on the main screen . The rest of the apps are only displayed if you choose "all apps". My disappointment is that, of course, space is limited on the main screen, and half of the space shows recommended apps. I don't like this. Its following the trend of unwanted marketing pushed at users and consumers. Otherwise, i am very satisfied and would recommend this player.

So far, this little unit does exactly what it should do - play DVDs and BluRay discs with ease. Picture quality is great and I haven't encountered any glitches or frustrations with performance. I'm using it primarily as a disc player, so I'm not really pushing it to the limit. The apps are a nice feature, but already have a Sony smart TV and and Apple TV, so they're redundant for me. The price is great considering what I've paid in years past for a decent player.

Bought this player for a guest bedroom in order to access netflix and other streaming apps. Even though located away from my WIFI router still got 4 bars on it. The player is hooked up to a Sony HDTV with a sound bar and subwoofer. The player worked fine with blu ray discs in addition to streaming. Good value for the price. This model does not handle 3D blu ray so if you want that feature you will have get a more expensive player (about $50 more).

I have had the this product for about a month.
Its small and compact. Works great. I was able to teach my untechie wife how to stream content.
This has replaced our Chromcast as our streaming tool of choice. We thought DVD/BluRay was dead, but we have actually watched movies and even Rented RedBoxes! (So 00's of us).
Our only complaint is that the remote is too small. It makes it easy to lose and get stuck/lost in the couch. That is the only reason we are not giving this a 5-Star rating.

This Streaming Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player is easy and quick to set-up. It comes with most of your favorite streaming channels and has Blue-ray. My spouse and I like it very much. For the price, its a great value. I am thankful the Best Buy representative asked me what I needed. He asked me three questions and recommended this Sony product. I was in and out of the store in a flash. Best Buy knows their stuff.

I wanted a simple player to watch movies on that wouldn't take up much space and was easy to set up. This was easy to set up - the remote has one issue in that you easily flip into the setup menu for the internet options however that is more learning the new remote than a true problem. This is a really small compact machine and looks nice too!! I love the ease of this player. I'll probably buy one for the bedroom!

This is a great BluRay disc player. Sony was the first brand to come out with BluRay players, and they continue to be a leader in the field. Similar models from Samsung and LG just don't have the sleek look that the Sony player has. Streaming Netflix via the wifi works great! My BluRay player is on the other end of the house and in the basement, but never loses the signal. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought the Sony Blu-ray player in exchange for one from a different brand which had A/V and remote control compatability problems when used with brands different from the player itself. The Sony Blu-ray player was easy to connect to my wireless home network, It is easy to program the included remote control to control the basic functions (power on/off, volume, and TV input) of my non-Sony TV. Another note about its included remote control - It is ergonomic and the buttons (which I think are well-spaced/sized) are easy to navigate. No problems using my RCA universal remote to control/navigate the Blu-ray player. The player starts up and loads discs and apps quickly; and, streams video fast through the preloaded apps (over 300 apps) with excellent picture quality! I should have bought this unit first, instead of the one I returned!!!

Does its job as advertised. I upgraded from a 1st generation Blu Ray player and the load speed, quality, ease of use and picture selection seems super so far. I still use my Apple TV for online tv and Netflix but all of those functions seem to work great...although a bit harder to navigate then with Apple TV. Went with this one because I don't need 3D or 4K and price is great...price match with Amazon just in case.

This is a really nice option for those without a smart tv or even for those with one. Has built in wifi and access to a ton of entertainment apps while playing blue ray and dvd. This unit is very user friendly so if you are not a tech savvy person then there are no worries. This player was also surprisingly cheap. Great unit for the price.

Way better than the Phillips I was using that won't even recognize a blue disc any more. All reviews were favorable, price was lowest at Best Buy and the local store had plenty in stock. The menu and set up is intuitive, it finds the wifi connection easily and quickly. So far everything functions well with minimal lag time. We use in house and in the RV. Needed it to be compact for the RV. Very pleased so far and in agreement with all other reviews. Would have given it 5 stars if it offered more I/O's, however this may be tuff in a compact unit. My Bose Companion system takes an 1/8 jack so I needed to convert digital coax out to analogue RCA to 1/8 inch. Cheap and easy enough to do. As it turns out this didn't offer better sound or greater output than using the TV's RCA output jacks to the Bose 1/8 jack, all working with the signal from the HDMI, or the coax input on the TV. Lessons learned. I can however use the converter with the Sony as a stand alone CD player. It is a good unit. A better unit are the ones that will be ready for 4K if you plan on delving into that upgrade in the near future.

A Great Blu-ray player

If your like me and just looking for a Blu-ray player just to play Blu-ray and DVD movies then I would recommend this player. First, its light enough if you want to put it on top of a receiver, DVD player, or some other electronic equipment. The player is pretty small so it doesn't take up a lot of space. No heating problems when playing a disc or when its not in use. Beware the plug for the player is one of those big ones that takes up space especially on a surge protector. I always been skeptical about Blu-ray players with WiFi, but so far I have no problems with it. When connecting you have to type in your modem key number the first time. After that it remembers the password and you don't have to type it in again just to connect. I was able to download updates without any problems. I'm not a big apps kind of guy and they're plenty of them on this player. I just ignore them and use the player for its intended purpose : watch Blu-ray and DVDs movies. In case you were wondering I did try to connect to some of these apps with the WiFi on this player and had no problems connecting, but it takes a few minutes to load. Overall, a great Blu-ray player that gets the job done.
